S5E6 - Creatives' 8 Year Anniversary - April '26
Creatives' 8 Year Anniversary - April '26 In this episode, Scott is joined by co-host and producer of the podcast Jarrett Moses. The tandem uses the April 7th Creatives’ Pier event as a launch point to do a “deep dive” into Creatives’ Philly’s eight-year journey as a platform. The April 7th open mic event doubled as Scott’s birthday and the anniversary of Creatives’ events. Jarrett runs sound/production for all of our Creatives’ events. The episode kicks off with some context for why the episode is going to take a different turn than usual. In the first fifteen minutes, Scott gives an overview of the Creatives’ journey with statistics and a breakdown of four distinct chapters in the story. Jarrett and Scott spend the bulk of the episode time-lining the narrative and seeing how each decision they made along the journey was directly related to outside factors they couldn’t control. Towards the end of the episode, both hosts talk about what could have been different, lessons they’ve learned, and gratitudes they have for not giving up. Scott ends with a plea for new listeners to partner with Ripe Creatives so they can continue to produce the open mic events into the future. We hope you enjoy this one. Ignite - October '23 In this episode, Scott is joined by Diomer, Eves, and first-time guest Jason Weatherbe to talk about the Ignite Youth Conference hosted by NJUMC in Wildwood, NJ from September 29th to October 1st, 2023. The conference featured Ripe Artists Diomer, Eves, and Aable for the event’s Friday night concert. Jason served as the team’s drummer alongside DJ Ant G who served as the team’s MD. Ant also served as the DJ while Scott joined as the emcee for the rest of the conference weekend as well. The episode begins with giving the backstory of how Ripe was booked for the gig and how each of the folks featured on the podcast felt going into the experience. The team shares quite a bit about what it was like arriving at Wildwood’s convention center and seeing the production level of the conference. Towards the second half of the episode, we talk mostly about the first night’s concert and the ways we navigated some of the challenges of the overlapping-set design. There’s a whole lot of shoutouts and conversation about overcoming different hurdles throughout the first night and what some of the key moments created for the students who were there. As we wrap up the episode the squad shares about getting the opportunity to do a second set on Saturday and why we focus so much on engaging students off the stage at these kinds of events. S2E16 - WorshipFest - September '23
WorshipFest - September '23 In this episode, Scott is joined by Jarrett Moses, Greg Snow, and Jonathan Curtis to talk about our second annual WorshipFest. The squad also gets a mini cameo from Rob Morales who adds to the conversation from his perspective as an attendee. The festival took place on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 on site at Carson Simpson Farm Christian Camp where Jonathan serves as the site director. The episode begins with us sharing about the team’s decision to bring WorshipFest back in 2023 after the success of 2022. The squad talks about some of the major changes going into year two with a special emphasis on the second stage vision which was hosted by Greg Snow. The middle of the episode focuses on each of the sets. All of the sets were performed by Ripe artists and local worship teams including Davisville Church, CityReach Worship, and E Daniels. The festival was closed by our very own Ripe Worship team. Throughout the episode, each of the guests talks a lot about the weather and how it impacted the festival tremendously throughout the day. WorshipFest certainly wasn’t an easy task in light of the hurdles, but throughout our conversation, we centered on the goodness of God by helping the team overcome the challenges as they came. We wrap up by showing love to Pastor Terry Davis from Philadelphia Gospel Mission and alluding to what’s ahead for WorshipFest as a vision in the future. We hope you enjoy! S2E15 - Back in Brickyard - September '23
Back in Brickyard - September '23 In this episode, Scott is joined by Jarrett, a returner from Season 1 Luke Billman, and first-time guest Allison Billman to talk about the “Back in Brickyard” block party outreach concert. The event featured nearly a dozen artists from both inside and outside of the Ripe community and took place on Friday, September 1st, 2023 at Shores of Grace. Luke & Allison lead Shores of Grace which serves the local community of Germantown in Philadelphia. We begin the conversation by talking mainly about everything that led up to running the block party back for our second year in a row. The entire episode flows together nicely as each person shares their perspective about the event and the big picture “ministry philosophy” for reaching people locally through the arts. There are quite a few laughs throughout the episode as we talk about Luke being sick and still trying to help and different artist sets that impacted people. The most significant takeaway focused on how the artists built meaningful connections with the audience off the stage. We wrap up the episode focused on why Ripe Creatives & Shores of Grace are such a good fit to partner together to reach people. S2E14 - Xtend Conference - August '23
XTEND Conference - August '23 In this episode, Scott is joined by Aable and first-time guests Joseph Novales and Anh Thai to discuss the Xtend Conference which took place on Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at The MET Philly. Nearly a dozen people in our Ripe Creatives community had the chance to serve at Xtend this year. The Xtend Conference was launched by CityReach Church 3 years ago. Since then it has grown to include nearly one hundred regional churches and hosts thousands of youth for the one-day conference annually. The first part of the episode centers on some of the history of the conference. The middle chunk of the episode is spent on preparations for the conference made by Aable as one of the artists, Jo/Anh with CityReach Worship and the overall planning team. We chat quite a bit about what led to choosing Aable as one of the artists to perform on the lineup and how decisions were made to include Elevation Rhythm and UpperRoom. In the final third of the episode, we talk about the day of the conference primarily focusing on Aable’s set and CityReach Worship’s set respectively. Throughout the convo, Jo and Anh share about overcoming challenges throughout the day. As we wrap up the episode the four center on the value of Xtend for the region and also how the “big stuff” should center and challenge us to live out our faith daily in the mundane as well.
