Growing Up In The Gym - An Interview With Henry

If I Were Starting Training Again at 40

If I were starting training again at 40, I wouldn’t chase intensity. I’d chase weeks I could repeat. In this episode, I break down what I’d focus on, what I’d ignore, and why three simple habits matter more than heroic workouts. If you want to train in a way that still works ten years from now, this is where to start.

The Hard Truth About Training Over 35

Most people over 35 try to train the same way they did at 25 — and then wonder why everything hurts. In this episode, we talk about why pushing harder often leads to pain, not progress. You’ll learn what actually matters now, how to train in a way that gives you energy instead of draining it, and why feeling wrecked isn’t the same as getting better. If you want to stay capable for the next 20 years, this conversation matters.

Why Most Adults Train Too Hard — And What Actually Works

If you feel stuck, this conversation will likely explain why.

The Biggest Warm-Up Mistake Adults Make

A warm-up isn’t there to tire you out — it’s there to prepare you.If it doesn’t match the session, it’s doing very little.

What I Told a Member Who Said “I’m Too Busy”

  8. 15

Why Three Sessions a Week Actually Works Better

Goal Setting - How to (and how not to) set and actually achieve you goal for 2025

This may seem a bit late, but picking a goal and hoping it's going to happen is a terrible idea. There has to be a system in place to actually see this happening.

Let's Make 2025 (Or any Year) The Best Year Ever

Subject: Welcome to 2025: Let’s Make It Our Best Year Yet! Hi everyone, Congratulations on making it to 2025! It’s a privilege to be here, alive, and thriving on this planet. As we step into this new year, let’s take a moment to appreciate that we’re here. Some didn’t make it through 2024, and that makes this moment even more significant. No matter what resolutions or goals we did or didn’t achieve last year, the fact remains—we’re still here, ready to take on 2025. And that’s what truly matters. ### How Can We Make 2025 Even Better? The key to a great year isn’t about making sweeping resolutions or drastic changes. Instead, focus on two things: 1. Keep doing what works. 2. Let go of what doesn’t. One powerful way to ensure success is accountability. When we’re accountable, we’re far more likely to achieve our goals. For example, when my family recently moved house, we set up deadlines by inviting friends over just days after the move. Knowing people were coming motivated us to unpack quickly, tidy up, and make the house presentable. The same principle applies to fitness, health, or any goal. If someone is expecting you—whether it’s a workout buddy, a coach, or even an app—you’re more likely to show up. Accountability drives consistency, and consistency shapes habits. Your habits ultimately determine your success. ### A Simple Shift for 2025 As you set your goals for this year, think about how you can create accountability around them. Whether it’s through a partner, a community, or even small, specific deadlines, accountability gives your goals purpose and momentum. ### Let’s Make It Count 2025 is an incredible opportunity to improve not only our lives but also the world around us. Let’s support one another, be kind, and make the most of every moment. Here’s to an amazing year ahead! I can’t wait to see all the incredible things you’ll accomplish. See you in the gym! Cheers, Archie

Becky - How To Lose 10kg in 6 weeks!!

Becky is a rock star. She absolutely smashed the 6 week challenge, through discipline, focus and commitment. Her process was simple and straightforward. Same meals. Train 3x per week. Through all of this she managed working full time, and has a 3 year old daughter. It's really inspiring to see results like these in such a short time, while only losing body fat, and not a pound of muscle. Well done Becky!

Mike Kent - Professional Rugby and The Gladiators

Mike and I had a good chat about his background and his fitness history. For those of you who don't know Mike, he came to us with already a decent level of fitness. I was blown away by his attitude to working around shoulder restrictions and his willingness to adapt the exercises to suit his level. An ex-pro rugby player he's no stranger to pushing himself to the limit but what we discovered was the training can be quite monotonous training in the gym, and so CrossFit provided a nice blend of variety that he was looking for. Enjoy.

  13. 10

James Banks - How To Lose 17kg in 5 Months

James is no stranger to CrossFit. This time though, we added nutrition and accountability to his plan, and the weight steadily came off. His progress was around 1% of body fat per month. Not quick by some peoples standards, but what is really impressive about James is that he kept it really simple. Sticking to the same meals, and getting the training in 3 x per week (as well as adding lots of walking). He's a really good example of persistence and continuity from the challenge to then sustaining those results well after the 6 weeks is up.

Rebecca and Kate - How One Friendship Can Change Everything - Ep 9

Todays episode is about how having a friend, and cultivating that relationship can literally make all the difference in your health goals.Rebecca and Kate have been friends since nursery, and they both started the six week challenge within a week of each other. They've done many different sports together. Have always remained active but needed the structure of a program to help them take their fitness goals further. In this episode we cover everything from how what kinds of sports they did growing up (everything from horse riding to forming a skateboarding club!) to what has the biggest impact been for them having started their CrossFit journey.

Episode 7 - Mat Hall - The Guy Who Smashed the 6 week challenge, and looks after a refugee football team in his spare time!

Mat's the kind of guy who brings the good vibes to the gym every day. He's been crushing it on his health journey this year, even with a newborn at home! Went from 'not bad' to 'wow, ripped!' Plus, he totally aced his first Hyrox competition – talk about impressive!I'm seriously stoked about Mat's progress, and hanging out with him is always a blast. Oh, and get this – he started a football squad for refugees in Chichester! Every week, they come together and kick it on the field. It's awesome seeing him making a real difference in the community.Enjoy.

Lily's Experience - How She Lost 5 inches off her waist in 11 weeks!!

Lily began her journey not knowing what to do. She knew she wanted to lose weight, whereas after 11 weeks her goal changed to doing a pull-up and unassisted push-ups.The key things she has done so well at is her execution of the plan has been spot on, No excuses. Just doing what's necessary to get the job done.Really solid work Lily. I am so proud of you.

Podcast #5: Two Fascinating Members Who Escaped Persecution For Standing Up For What Is Right

I'm not going to lie, this was emotional. I was in two minds about whether to publish this, but I feel that these two people's story needs to be told. They are refugees, from Iran, and have an amazing story to tell. We didn't get into too many details because I felt actually some of their experiences are probably too raw to talk about. Long story short, they escaped Iran because of the activism that they were doing. What I find astounding as that they are two educated people. Who were successful in their own right having to leave a country they were both contributing to. Needless to say it was a fascinating conversation, one which I have more questions and hopefully will get a chance to speak with them again.

Podcast #3 - Hyrox, Programming, Injuries and How To Help Preventing Them.

Today's episode we cover all things to do with recent events in the gym. We've had two teams go to Hyrox (One team of 4, and one pair) and what training was like for it, and how best to prepare for it, if you're thinking about doing it. We also cover changes to the programming and why, and how to help prevent injuries but also how to train around injuries and how we can modify them even if you're injured.

How It All Began - Lessons We Learnt In Starting CrossFit Chichester

Today is a very special podcast because I am joined by my lovely lady Lydia. We have been on this journey together the whole way, through every up and down in the cycle of building the gym over the last 10 years. I can honestly say that without the support of Lydia the gym would not be here. Enjoy.

Persistence Pays Off - Podcast #1

Persistence pays off. I've found that to get anywhere worth while being consistent in small efforts every day has made it possible to get to where I am right now in fitness and with the work I do.
