Craig Hatkoff on Purpose, Passion & Curiosity
Craig Hatkoff is following his passion.  In this episode of the the infinite connection podcast he shares what that means to him and the impact it has those around him. Let me start by saying that I was lucky enough to meet with Craig earlier this year when I was in New York on a business trip, and it happened through a serious of coincidences and connections.  I was introduced to Craig by somewhere that I had met a few days earlier during the trip. When I found out that he was a great friend of a previous guest of mine, Irwin Kula, then it seemed perfect for him to come on the show that explores and talks about connection (more of this later). I am delighted that he agreed, and this conversation is the result. Craig talks of his traditional background, in which he went to business school before going into banking. However it is when Craig starts to talk of the point that where he felt something was missing and realised it was time to make a change, that the it really starts to get interesting.  How many of us have had similar emotions and experiences?  How many of us at this point would step out of the environment that we know, a place that we are very comfortable in? How many of us would take that step when we are not really sure what we want to do next? It seems to me that Craig was ready to explore the things that interested him. This exploration has led to the writing of 13 childrens books, following his love of music and starting the Tribeca Film Festival with his wife Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro, following the events of September 11th. Craig admits that whilst the domains of banking and his new “career path†could not be further apart, many of the core business principles do translate, however it is his overarching passion of “innovation†that has kept him interested and things moving forward. Craig talks of the 3 touchstones that he uses to get the juices flowing - “Passion - if you don’t have a passion for what you are doing, then it doesn’t mean that you won’t be good at it, but it will be a different experience†“Curiosity - it is amazing how we can now begin a process of exploration on how the world works†“Purpose - it makes a difference when things have meaning or have a purpose†He sums it up perfectly by saying - “If you have a purpose , curiosity and passion, it will help you fill out that canvas called life. It may not look like a DaVinci but we are all painting our own stories†Ok, so we don’t all want to write childrens books, but look beyond the specific outcome and listen how Craig did not let his initial perception that you had to be “invited to the club†to be a writer stop him. His curiosity in how it all worked and what it would take, started him on the path. That, and his inability to find a book about having your tonsils out for his anxious and scared daughter (who was 5 years old at the time).  So whether you want to write a children's book or you have a passion for something else, listen to the lessons that Craig shares through his experience. Craig’s books are stories of connection, and of relationships. This applies to many of the stories themselves, as they are non-fiction books about the true stories of young animals.  It also applies to the fact that he writes them with his daughters. I loved hearing the about the various sparks that ignite the interest in Craig or his daughters around a story, for example seeing the picture in the newspaper of a hippo snuggling with a giant tortoise. Where many of us would ooh and ahhh for moment before turning the page, with Craig the curiosity took over and there was desire to know more. It doesn’t stop there though, as we talk about the fact that connection is often multi-layered, so Craig and his daughter apply the “AWE principle†when reviewing a story. Does it contain Awe, Wonder & Enchantment? Does it pass the goosebumps test? It may be a great story, but if it doesn’t give you goosebumps when you hear or see it, then it won’t connect. I love this and can see me applying this to various aspects of my life. If you want see a little more about these heartwarming and “awe inspiring†stories then check out OwenandMzee.com We discuss how each of these stories is about overcoming adversity and creating resilience. Now at this point I have to admit that it was actually another piece of Craig’s writing that I connected with first, and was instrumental in prompting that original meeting.  Whilst it is not a children’s book, to me it does seem to have the same theme of overcoming adversity and creating resilience. It was a speech that Craig gave as the Keynote speaker at NYU Stern Undergraduate Baccalaureate entitled “The Greatest Flops in Historyâ€. Do yourself a favour and take the few minutes you need to read it. Craig explains that most successful people will talk about failure, and how you shouldn’t expect to see earth shattering inventions from people who are afraid to fail. If you are not prepared to take a risk, then maybe you will make a better manager than an inventor or entrepreneur. Craig Hatkoff shares many nuggets of wisdom and lessons throughout this conversation, and I think it is one to revisit with a notepad and pen. Of course, different things will connect with different people but this is all part of becoming self aware. It is all part of understanding what you connect with and why, and more importantly what you can do with that information.  As Craig says - “The act of doing, of taking action, is almost a meditation†It doesn’t have to be an earth shattering action, it is just about moving things forward and making progress. Often the simple action is all it takes, as one thing leads to another and creates the connections. So as this is a show of connections, I asked Craig who he suggests that I connect with for this show and why. It was a joy to hear him mention his best friend Irwin Kula, saying that he is the best person he knows to discuss connecting and connections. Of course, the reason it was a joy is the fact I have already spoken with Irwin for the show and I have to agree with Craig. In fact to bring this full circle, during our first ever meeting earlier in the year in New York, I was outlining the show to Craig and of all the episodes I could have selected I mentioned my conversation with Saul Kaplan of the Business Innovation Factory. It was at this point that Craig mentioned he had a friend who was a Rabbi who was connected to BIF.  I asked if he was called Irwin, as I had just confirmed the arrangements for him to come on the show. The rest is history.  What a small world. I really love where this podcast has taken me, and the remarkable people I have had the pleasure of meeting, and look forward to the ongoing adventure. I am certainly looking forward to reaching out and connecting with Craigs other suggestion and recommendation that I speak with Clayton Christensen.  He describes him as the father of Disruptive Innovation and the man that both Craig and Irwin quote as effecting profound change in their lives. Ok, there is so much more that is covered in this conversation, so take a listen and let me know what you think. If you want to know more about Craig Hatkoff, then he suggests that you can google him - and he would be fascinated to know what you find out - or of course you can head over to the website TribecaDisruptiveInnovationAwards.com and see what you get curious, passionate, and purposeful about.

Kate Magic
I love this interview with Kate Magic for its over-arching feel of positivity, abundance and presence.  You also get a keen sense of the pure passion and excitement she brings to her work, and her desire to share it with the world. Raw Food and Bikram Yoga enabled Kate to achieve the connectedness and harmony she had previously felt during the acid house scene of the late 1980s. These have been her tools for over 20 years now and they have allowed her to maintain a sense of calm, positivity and energy in everyday life. One thing that resonated with me more than anything during the interview was this – because we are all energy, if our very cellular system is out of whack based on our lifestyle choices – diet and exercise (acidic, dehydrated, not oxygenated) in particular, then our interaction both with our ‘self’ and the world at large will subsequently will be harder and more challenging. Food for thought! Our outer world is a reflection of our inner state But it’s not just about food, raw or otherwise; filled with life advice, insights and personal experience this interview will either affirm what you already know, introduce you to new ideas or leave you curious to find out more. You can connect with Kate and her work in the following way – www.rawliving.eu Her online raw food shop (the biggest one in Europe and quite possibly the world)  www.katesmagicbubble.com A veritable feast of recipes, interviews, videos, tips and resources  www.therawmagicacademy.com All of the information you need for Raw Food classes and workshops.

Jeff Goins, Writer!
‘Life is a series of apprenticeships.’ Jeff Goins, Writer  Apprenticeships, at their inception in the renaissance period, took, on average, seven years.  Jeff’s first job after college was his accidental apprenticeship.  It helped him hone his writing skills and to practice his craft.  It wasn’t until after this seven year period that he was finally ready to call himself a writer. During the interview Jeff talks about admitting your dreams to yourself and then owning them.  About getting your ideas out into the world and loving what you do. He talks about tribes and the Karate Kid, the boundless nature of the Internet, writing lyrics, spelling bees and shadow careers. Jeff names Frederick Buechner, a writer he holds in high esteem, as someone he would like to connect with to explore the reasoning behind the decisions he made. Jeff references the writings of Seth Godin, including 'Tribes', Carol Dweck’s book 'Mindset', 'Give & Take' by Adam Grant and Stephen Pressfield’s concept of a ‘Shadow career' throughout this conversation. All that said, Jeff wouldn’t be talking to you on a podcast about any of this, as "Jeff Goins, Writer!", had he not held himself accountable, faked his way into confidence and called himself a writer. We started these show notes with a quote from Jeff so we’ll finish with one too. ‘Start and let your courage catch up with you.’ Jeff Goins, Writer If you would like to connect with Jeff Goins you can head over to his website goinswriter.com or check out his page on Facebook.

"Go into the world with compassion" - Meg Worden
On todays show is Meg Worden.  Health coach, single mum, unschooler… and more. When we talk about what triggers us, we tend to assume it will be for negative reasons…old wounds, childhood experiences, things we haven’t processed properly, but how refreshing to also look at triggers in a positive light. Meg talks about the feelings of envy and jealousy that arise when we see people – whether they be friends, family members, folk in the public eye doing or being something we would very much like to do and she says this... ‘When you see that, you’re looking in the mirror of what you’re capable of.’ Take a moment and read that again…breathe…read it again.  How beautiful to totally reframe those negatively perceived feelings and look at your possibilities. It reminds me of the Marianne Williamson piece of being afraid to shine our light. Read that again too (you can find it here) I have no doubt that working with Meg on taking responsibility for your journey through life and learning to interact with the world from within, not outside of yourself, would be an entirely empowering experience. This conversation has inspired me to reflect on what I consume – news, information, books, ideas and also how I come to situations – preparing food with positive energy say, rather than being in a grump. It has also propelled me to check out more of the comedic work of Louis CK and I’ve already signed up to Elizabeth King’s newsletter! Enthusiasm is contagious! Oh and if you haven’t read Status Anxiety by Alain de Botton…do so. Of course if you would like to connect with Meg Worden then you can reach her via Twitter @MegWorden or the website MegWorden.com.

Irwin Kula on Disruptive Spiritual Innovation
In this episode of the connection podcast I am speaking with Irwin Kula.  I was introduced to Irwin by previous guest Saul Kaplan.  It was an episode that was always going to happen.  I don't mean because of plans and scheduling, I am talking about all of the intriguing co-incidences, overlaps and of course connections that transpired before we arranged the interview. I am really pleased that it did. Why? I often talk about living your best life and doing stuff that matters.  I will talk about life as an adventure and making things happen.  Well, this conversation covers all of this.  Whether you are interested in business, self development, spirituality, creativity and innovation, we discuss it all. Irwin shares the powerful pivotal moments that profoundly impacted his life, what they meant to him and why, and of course what he planned to do about it.  I found myself completely engrossed as Irwin shared his moment of clarity.  The point when he understood the job that he had to get done. "I know the job to get done was to help people flourish.  I always found myself most connected with the people most disconnected from the community." This really is one of those episodes that you keep in your favourites and listen back to a number of times, as each time I have listened to it I have taken something more from it. Things like - "The product is the wisdom" and "Taking values as well as value, seriously" We discuss how often we are taught about tradition, and not about innovation.  We review the quality of questions we ask ourselves, personally and professionally.  Such as - "What is the ongoing impact beyond the moment of purchase?" and "Are people flourishing more by being part of our community than if they were not part of it?" We also talk about storytelling versus data, authenticity, transparency and we even discuss what infinite pie is all about. Irwin explains why he would like to connect with Sal Khan of the Khan Academy and why I should connect with Clayton Christensen and Adam Braun.  Let's see if we can make this happen in the future. If you would like to connect with Irwin Kula, you can follow him on twitter @IrwinKula, head over to TheWisdomDaily.com Let me know what you think.

Matt Frazier "No Meat Athlete"
Matt Frazier is the No Meat Athlete and in this conversation he shares how and why that all started.  Matt describes how he wasn't always a runner, in fact there was a time when he actually hated running, however once he started, it was all about challenging himself.  Keen to qualify for the Boston Marathon, Matt also wanted to follow his desire to live a vegetarian lifestyle for ethical reasons.  Initially concerned that it would impact his running time and ability, he started his blog NoMeatAthlete.com to track his progress.  To his delight (and maybe even surprise) he got faster.  The blog also got more and more popular and now hosts great content including updates, recipes, resources, gear and a supportive community. Not only did Matt go on to qualify for the Boston Marathon (and credits his community for pushing him on to finish it), he has since written a book (again called No Meat Athlete and available online and via the website), and has also gone on to run ultra-marathons (and has now gone Vegan).  As for future goals, Matt explains he is not one to just go out and run for the sheer pleasure or to just tick a box, so he is waiting for the next event to start to consume him and become a passion, although the Bad water event certainly seems to have piqued his interest. You may not be vegetarian or vegan, or even a runner, but this conversation is full of great lessons on perspective, understanding yourself, your drivers, motivators and how to set goals, that all can be applied in various parts of your life.  It also highlights the benefits of a community that you can share these goals with and ensure they hold you accountable. In fact when I asked Matt who he would like to connect to and why, it wasn't a runner, an athlete or a coach.  It was Seth Godin, the entrepreneur, marketer and author he resonated with, as he is a champion of the 'connection economy' and finding and developing your 'tribe'. As for the person that Matt thinks I should connect with, he suggested a conversation with Leo Babauta of ZenHabits.net which I think would be fantastic.  So let's see if we can make that happen. To follow Matt Frazier and his challenges and adventures, why not head over to NoMeatAthlete.com or you can follow him via twitter via @NoMeatAthlete. If you would like to connect with us, then why not follow us on Facebook or on twitter with @infinitepie and @al_fawcett .  Of course you can always sign up below to ensure you become part of the infinite pie community and get regular updates and information. If you like this episode then please do us a great favour and share it by hitting the social media buttons below or the share button on your mp3 player.  It only takes a second and it means a lot to us (and of course could make a difference to the person you share it with).  While you are at it, you may want to check out the library of previous episodes and the remarkable stories that you can find there.  If you are looking for similar stories to Matt's then you may want to head straight for Brian Robertson, Angela Von Buelow, Shane Whaley and Rich Adrian amongst many others, as they are also converts to plant based running.  While you are at it, I would certainly suggest you also check out Shane and Angela's podcast JuicingRadio.com as you will find a wealth of information and great interviews there as well.

Scott Meyer on Digital Homesteading
Today I am speaking with Scott Meyer of DigitalHomesteading.com. In this conversation Scott and I discuss how he had a lightbulb moment when his mother used the yellow pages and it was time to get out and see what was going on. "When people understand how to use technology, then incredible things can happen" We discuss how often learning about the technology can be boring.  It is about how you use it, apply it and understanding how it may help you to do what you are trying to achieve, that it becomes exciting.Having spent time travelling to find a purpose and causes to get involved in, Scott realised that there was plenty to do in his own back yard, in the area in which he lived.  So he came home to help build a community.  To support others. "You don't have to be the one creating the magic, you can build the stage and let others shine"  "When we solve local problems, we realise that those problems are shared by others". During our talk we discussed the Scott Adams principle and how he created the amazing successful Dilbert cartoon by establishing what 3 things he was above average at.  And of course what conversation would be complete without some talk about Whale poop. (If you would like to know what we are talking about, here is the link to Scott's blog post not he subject -http://9clouds.com/2013/11/23/feeding-your-ecosystem-like-whale-poop/) Scott was introduced to me by previous guest Greg Tehven, and is part of the misfit community along with other guests AJ Leon, Marc Winn, Israel Smith, and Srini Rao, so if you haven't already make sure you head back and take a listen to their episodes too. So, if you are one of those people who want to make a difference in what ever it is you are doing, if you want to do meaningful work, then why not follow Scott on twitter @mrscottmeyer or check out digital homesteading.com or 9clouds.com - but not before you sit back, strap yourself in & listen to my conversation with Scott Meyer. Mike Michalowicz returns to talk "Profit First"
I am really excited to have a return guest on the show today.  Mike Michalowicz  from MikeMichalowicz.com has come back to talk about his new book "Profit First" . Now, as often is the case, we explore so much more than just the book.  We talk about the mindset shift needed to develop a quality relationship and "connection" with your business.  We highlight the beauty and art of an airline safety card.  We explore brand building and what it means to stay consistent and authentic.  We also touch on the negative impact of a "survey of one". This episode revolves around key elements of the connection mapping process that I use with my clients - Self awareness & Personal Resonsibility. "If you hire someone and get inconsistent results, stop blaming the people" As I mentioned, Mike has been on the show before, so if you want to hear more of his story than you can go back and check it out here. Rich Adrian and "Big Green Thumb Juice"
Rich Adrian of Juicing101.ca connected with me several months back after listening to a previous interview with Brian Robertson on this podcast.  Rich and his wife Lacey had been inspired by Joe Cross and his film Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, and like many others decided it was the catalyst that would help them take action and get their lives back on track. Rich talks to me about his struggles with his weight, with depression and with anxieties amongst many other obstacles that he has had to overcome in the past. "I am feeling better than I have in my whole life" That is how Rich now describes his current situation and outlook on things.  Up to December 2013, Rich and Lacey were just trying to get through each day.  It was watching Joe's film that helped them to decide it was time to make a change. "I knew there had to be something else out there" Within 15 minutes of watching the film, Rich knew it was something they had to try.  Then it was about taking action.  Rich was all in.  Cutting out processed foods, sugars, and going on a juice "reboot" in the new year, as well as going vegetarian, Rich admits that it was tough at the start.  Of course there was the physical side of things with the detox from all the years of unhealthy lifestyle and medications, but that was only half of it.  There was also the mental aspect.  The first focus was on his own choices and lifestyle design rather than the typical concern about what others may or may not think.  This was about becoming self aware and making decisions that would benefit himself and his family, the people who were most important to him. Rich Adrian supported this mental aspect by immersing himself in research and the quality of the information that he was "consuming" realising that it was not just what you put into your body physically but also into your mind, mentally.  It was also about community and connection.  Rich joined similarly focussed people in Facebook groups etc.  People like previous guests and Reboot with Joe success stories, Brian Robertson, Kitten the Juice Pirate, Shane Whaley, Angela Von Buelow (Shane and Angela also host a great podcast juicing radio.com)  and Lou Bell. It was this sense of community that helped inspire Rich to make a difference, and what a difference it has made. As I mentioned, Rich and I connected a number of months ago, however we actually met when we both attended the Camp Reboot event held at the Omega Institute in upstate New York.  A fantastic location and an amazing experience.  Listen in as Rich describes how he actually spent time running a half marathon to raise money for Lou Bell to be able to attend before knowing whether he would be in a position to go himself.  I am glad that he did, as it meant that I got a chance to meet him in person.  We talk about what we got from Camp and the support and community aspect. Rich is now keen to give back and to make a difference.  Having realised this is something that he wants to do with his life to help and support others, Rich has planned to make this his lifestyle and his business.  Starting Facebook groups and websites to help and support others with information and motivation, Rich and Lacey are now in the process of starting up their first juice truck in their local area.  Listen as Rich explains his reasons behind this, what it takes to make it happen and of course his future plans.  It would be great if you could connect with him to show your support. I, for one, am delighted that I have got to know Rich Adrian.  This really is an example of what I mean when I talk about "creating connections that count". If you would like to connect with Rich Adrian, then you can head over to the website juicing101.ca or join the Facebook group Facebook.com/juicing101.ca as well as Facebook.com/greenthumbjuice.  There is also twitter @juicing101.ca and @greenthumbjuice

Christopher Brisley on "Take a Challenge"
Christopher Brisley understands a challenge.  From his time in the Navy, competing in sports and starting businesses, it was about constant progress, doing more and doing better.  Then, whilst out on his bike, training for an event, he was hit head on by a car.  This began the start of a new challenge, and the start of a new way of looking at things. Christopher was in pain.  A lot of pain.  2 years of pain. "How did I deal with the pain?  I worked more" Christopher had tried a variety of things in his past, constantly searching and reviewing what was working and what wasn't.  Trying to find his thing.  His place in the world.  Some of the things were "successful" and others meant that he lost everything and had to start again.  After his accident, he came to a realisation. "I decided to put something back" Christopher immersed himself in understanding his body and got back on his feet, literally.  Head over to TakeaChallenge.org and you will see the incredible list of challenges and events that Christopher has completed.  From Marathons, Ultra runs, Ironman, and all other variety of distances as well as mountain climbs and so much more. Christopher started his "little" blog and website as a way of sharing his story.  However, like the story itself, there is so much more to it than that.  It has become a community, a place that shares the stories of people doing amazing things. Throughout my conversation with Christopher, you can't help but believe that the growth, the progress and the success that he was previously searching for was there all along.  He just needed to stop and allow it to catch up with him. "I was always trying to be somewhere else" "I put the past behind me" Christopher Brisley shares his incredible "story that he is creating",  as well as the other remarkable people who are out there living a life.  Whilst staying  present, Christopher asks himself this beautiful question that helps to introduce new challenges - "If I wanted to have the most beautiful adventure, what would I do?" How would you answer that? If you want to connect with Christopher Brisley, then head over to TakeAChallenge.org and see how others have answered it.  You can also follow him on Twitter @CBrisley and you can let him know all about the challenges that you are about to take. Of course if you know anyone else who would enjoy and benefit from listening to this episode or connecting with Christopher then take a moment to share it, tweet it, email or sit down and listen to it with them.  I was connected to Christopher by my friend and previous guest Thom Hunt of 7th Rise and you can see why.  They certainly share that sense of perspective and sense of adventure.

Marc Winn on "Choosing Life"
Marc Winn is a values based person.  That becomes obvious from the moment you speak with him.  Marc has decided to do stuff that matters and to make a difference.  Of course you may have heard that stuff before, but take a listen to hear about the Dandelion Project and his perspective on the the future of education, and so much more. Marc highlights the pivotal moment that he had a nervous breakdown as he on ran a successful company that didn't serve him. "If you work for a long time in an environment that is not in alignment with who you are, then eventually something breaks" We talk about hitting rock bottom and the impact it has on the way you perceive fear and risk.  I have spoken many times about people who have a compelling reason to change and using that as the catalyst or momentum to do something different.  To get a new perspective.  To truly connect with yourself and those around you.  Marc did just that. "I decided to choose life over money" Along with previous guests AJ Leon, Srini Rao, Israel Smith and Greg Tehven, Marc is a Misfit.  I think that by listening to their stories we can find ways to find what is important to us, without having to go through the pain.  We can find a "compelling reason to change" that inspires us, just like they did, but hopefully before without having to hit bottom first. I could fill these show notes with quotes and soundbites from our conversation, and I am sure that you would connect and resonate and many of them.  The question is, would it inspire you to change.  Would it help you to do more of the great stuff you are doing?  Would it make a difference to you? Marc and I discuss the fact that - "Everybody is just waiting for permission" Well I say "why wait?" (and I have written about this perspective before). Take some time and listen to this episode of the podcast and see what sticks out for you. Whether it is - "Life is just a game" "Receiving is an act of generosity" The question Marc asks himself each day - "How do I impact people positively everyday, just by having coffee?" Or the challenging - "If someone is holding you back, spend less time with them" This is something that I work with people on, both personally and professionally helping them with it via The Connection Mapping process.  How to explore and understand which connections and relationships  are serving you and which aren't, and of course what to do about it. So take a listen, think about what you connect with and of course how you can - "Ritualise the mundane to make space to do the stuff you love" Marc Winn seems to have done just that. Oh and listen at the end to hear about the way things lined up for Marc and I to have that cup of coffee. If you want to connect with Marc Winn then head over to MarcWinn.com where you can find more details and access his blog TheViewInside.me as well as his Facebook page and Twitter As always if you connected with this episode then make sure you share it with someone else that you think will benefit and enjoy it.  That is how you "create connections that count".

Andy Morris "Superjuicer"
Andy Morris was fit and healthy until the day he went out for a run to meet his wife and collapsed.  Initially thinking it was a heart attack, it soon turned out to be more debilitating and the start of a long decline in health. Andy shares the impact of his diagnosis and the negative mental effect of going from requiring 8 steroids to a point where he was having to take 52 tablets a day.“My day, for a period of time, revolved around just watching the clockâ€With his weight increasing, his health deteriorating and his outlook getting gloomier, Andy was helped by his doctor.  As is often the case it is key supporters that help point you in the right direction, but it is up to you to take the action. Part of that support was getting Andy involved in the documentary “Super Juice Me†with Jason Vale.  Andy admits that he wasn’t sure if it would actually help when he first got involved, and just saw it as an opportunity to have a last nice holiday in Portugal, as he couldn't see an end to his situation. Andy talks honestly and frankly about his reservations and anxieties and of course his health issues.  He also speaks just as openly about the incredible results he gained with focused effort, a change of diet, juicing and with great support.Like many of my previous guests who have got their health back on track, such as Joe Cross, Kitten the Juice Pirate, Angela Von Buelow, Brian Robertson, Eric Rowley, Shane Whaley, Britt Joynson and Lou Bell, it is as much the mindset as it is the nutrition and exercise.  Each of these remarkable people had a different starting point, however they each had their own compelling reason to change that created the momentum.  It was also important to surround themselves with supportive people and great relationships to help ensure that the changes were sustainable.Since he has set off on this adventure to get his health and wellness back, Andy has grown his own community and has a desire to make a difference, spreading the message, sharing his story and supporting others.  Even this has been a learning curve, however Andy continues to think big and is ready to take on new challenges. If you would like to connect with Andy Morris then why not follow him on twitter using @AndrewMorris6Do you have a support team or part of one? If you connected with this story, then make sure you send it to anyone you feel that would enjoy or benefit from it.

Greg Tehven on "Community Building in Fargo"
Greg Tehven is from Fargo, North Dakota and he loves it.  Greg Tehven is a social entrepreneur and a connector of people.  Greg is out to make a difference.I connected through my previous guest AJ Leon and his group of Misfits, as they are looking to put Fargo on the map and to separate it from the image portrayed in the film and television series.  Greg is all about making it the best place in the world to live.  I love it when people set out on those big adventures, often without pre-defined plans on how to get there.  Greg is one of those adventurers. "I threw my hat over the fence, and now I have to think of a way to get my hat back" I often talk of my "why wait" principle and throwing your hat over the fence without knowing how you will get it back is a classic example of "why wait?"If our conversation is not enough for you then when you have finished listening why not check out Greg's TEDX talk by clicking the link below.  We discuss it during our interview, however you will get to see and hear the passion and enthusiasm that Greg has, as he shares his perspective on “world class experiencesâ€. I love the fact that he went to the event with - "The intention for real human connection" It shows all the way through, don't you think? http://youtu.be/vDgrSSfd8m8 Greg talks about bringing art and entrepreneurialism together.  We discuss the benefits of this, but we have heard it before right? Well why not see it in action.  Take a look at this video that shows a meet up and meal in Fargo.  Watch as the guests connect with a remarkable musician who is supported by an incredible yo-you champion. http://vimeo.com/91892204So if you feel that you want to create the best city in the world, or you just want to make a difference, then why not connect with Greg Tehven via the website www.emergingprairies.com, follow him on twitter @gregfromfargo or you can email him with [email protected]. "Performance" with Michael Port
Michael Port, the best selling author of "Book Yourself Solid", was introduced to me by previous guest John Jantsch.  In this conversation Michael shares the pivotal moment when he reflected on his character and left acting to move into business.  With no experience in this field Michael puts his success down to the following fact "I came with a blank piece of paper and a beginners mind" Michael shares the impact of writing a best selling book and how things "blew up" for him.  Now Michael is planning to go full circle, based on the fact he plans to return to his acting background and teach performance.  Michael has a desire to show how performance is relevant to all parts of your life. "Focus on just what is in service of the story" Michael shares his story during this conversation, including his previous health and weight issues and his relationship to food.  Like many of us, Michael admits that he was concerned what other might think.  However, when he shared this with others he realised that he could actually play a bigger game.  To me, this is the true meaning of "authenticity". "The way that we connect with others is through life experiences" This just scratches the surface of our conversation, as we talk of the pivotal moment in which Michael realised he could buy a boat (and did).  We also explore the power of language and how it can impact those around us (creating supporters or detractors). Take a listen and let me know what you connected with. If you would like to connect with Michael Port then you can head over to his websites MichaelPort.com and BookYourselfSolid.com or via his Facebook page or over at Twitter

"Doing stuff that Matters" with Israel Smith
In my conversation with Israel Smith we talk about "doing stuff that matters".  Israel shares how he left education and landed a good, well paid job in IT.  Israel Smith is a Misfit.  Introduced to me by previous guest AJ Leon of Misfit Inc, Israel tells me about this connection.  From the outside in it would appear that Israel Smith had life sorted and was "successful'.  The thing is, over time Israel recognised that this work did not light him up, it did not give him a sense of purpose and it didn't provide him with that reason to get out of bed in the morning. As I spoke with Israel, he talked of being diagnosed with stress related depression and the impact it had on those around him.  Israel outlines what it took to turn his back on the IT industry and to start a business around doing something he loved and enjoyed - Photography.  Israel asked himself the question - "What is your life really about?" The interesting thing was that Israel then followed the standard business practice of building processes, systems and workflows that meant he could replicate his offering using other photographers, and it didn't work.  It didn't work because it took Israel away from the part of the work that inspired him.  Taking Photographs. "I am helping people hold onto those awesome moments.  I photograph so many beautiful stories." Israel started to hate what he loved.  Photography.  So he stripped it all back and focused on what was important.  Taking pictures of families. Israel Smith is now preparing for the next step on his adventure with his wife and children, so listen in to hear all about it. If you want to connect with Israel Smith, then head over to his website IsraelSmith.com (and check the other site  TheRootCause.com.au as it is all about health and wellness) and follow him on twitter @IsraelPSmith and let him know we sent you.

Duct Tape Selling with John Jantsch
John Jantsch has owned a "small" business for 25 years, and in this conversation we discuss the lessons that he has learned throughout the period.  My previous guest Mike Michalowicz suggested that I connect with John and I have to say that I am delighted that I did.  There are many ideas, values and principles that can be applied immediately. John talks about the concept of his business and brand "Duct Tape Marketing" and his new book "Duct Tape Selling".  So if you are in sales, marketing, management or run your own business then do yourself a favour, sit down and take a listen. With 25 years experience as a business owner,  I asked John about all the changes that he has seen via technology etc in the area of sales and Marketing - "People Get Caught up in the tools and loose sight of the objective". "What has changed is the way people buy". If you want to know more and to connect with John Jantsch over at DuctTapeMarketing.com where you will find a great deal of content, blogs, ebooks and of course access to the podcast.  Let me know what you think. Why not start to develop those relationships and create that support network by sending this episode to anyone you know in sales, management, marketing, business or whoever you think may enjoy or benefit from it.

Innovation Junky with Saul Kaplan
Saul Kaplan of Business Innovation Factory describes himself as an innovation junky.  Someone who is always looking for a better way. “It is always about re-invention, a steep learning curve, as that is where I do my best workâ€. Saul was introduced to me by my previous guest, Deborah Mills Scofield.  In this conversation with Saul, we discuss the drivers that pushed him to create and develop a “community of innovation junkies†via the Business Innovation Factory and the role it plays in “doing R&D for new business modelsâ€. Creativity and innovation seem to often be sought after, yet how often are we creating an environment in which it is developed, enhanced and encouraged?  Are you providing an environment for “transformational changeâ€?  Are you playing your part in always looking for a better way?  Are you an innovation junky? This conversation will help you look at things differently.  To ask different questions.  Better questions.  This conversation will set you on a path of getting good at re-inventing yourself.  A skill that Saul Kaplan feels is a fundamental requirement for the future. What do you think? If you want to know more and to connect with Saul then you can follow him on twitter @skap5 or join the community of innovation junkies over at BusinessInnovationFactory.com Now go and have a “random collision with an unusual suspect" and share this with them.  Who knows where it might lead.

"Raw Galore" with Britt Joynson
Britt Joynson is an old school friend of mine.  A friend I lost touch with for years.  This is one of those times when I really appreciate tools and resources such as Facebook for the opportunity to re-connect with people.  When Britt and I got back in touch a few years ago, we shared and exchanged information and updates, in the normal way that you do.  However, without even realising it, Britt Joynson had a profound impact on me and my life. It was Britt who recommended I watch the Joe Cross film Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and of course since then that connection has been pretty amazing. I have spoken with some incredible and inspiring people and there are exciting adventures ahead.  That to me is how this crazy connection thing can work. Britt Joynson has a remarkable story of her own.  In this episode, you will hear how Britt knew that she wanted to travel, so she made it happen (even if her careers guidance officer laughed and scoffed at these desires).  You will get to hear of the places she visited, the people she met and the connections that she made, as well as the things she did not connect with. You will then hear about the pivotal moment that changed everything.  The time when Britt got sick.  Really sick (and how many times it took her getting bitten before realising that messing around with wild animals is not always a great choice). This period started Britt on a path and she soon recognised that she had to take her health into her own hands.  This "health" was more than just physical. "I got lost for a period of time.  I didn't know who I was, as I was unable to participate in the sports that I loved" It is incredible how we can have a loss of identity when we can't do the things that we have previously defined ourselves by. Coming out the other side of this Britt has come to recognise that "very few people don't wear a mask". Listen as Britt describes the beauty and the impact of finding those that are open and have dropped the masks.  This journey of health and wellbeing has opened Britt to the world of Raw Food and the benefit it brings to mind, body and soul.  We even discuss how a Beatrice Potter story and the character Peter Rabbit highlight the power of a plant based diet (who knew Potter was ahead of her time?). What I enjoy about my conversation with Britt on all of these topics is her honesty.  I love the fact that she admits her earlier research into nutrition had her thinking Raw Food was a little weird.  I like hearing that not all of it tastes great, however your palette does change and adjust over time.  I really enjoy hearing how she deals with the hardest critics of all - her 3 children.  Most of all I love the passion she brings to the teaching that she provides - "As you eat it, your body sings". If you would like to connect with Britt Joynson, then check out the Raw Galore Facebook page, the Raw Galore Blog or if you want to know more about her teaching and coaching then email [email protected].

"Your Inner Misfit" with AJ Leon
AJ Leon is a writer, designer, entrepreneur, humanitarian and nomad.  AJ Leon is a misfit.  This is a million miles away from the "successful" career that AJ had as a financial executive in Manhattan.  The life and career he turned his back on to live a life of adventure.  Ask AJ Leon what he does now and he will tell you that he runs a travelling circus.  Listen in to find out why. AJ says of his old career, his past life "It's a great life, if it's yours" AJ Leon is passionate and that passion is contagious.  He lives with intention.  He focuses on doing work that really matters and is changing the world.  Following our conversation, i was certainly more determined to live my best life. AJ shares two pivotal moments in his life that had a powerful impact.  The first was when his high school guidance teacher told him he would achieve and it was best to lower his sights - and he went on to prove her wrong.  Determined to Win with a capital "W".  Years later, as his career went from strength to strength, still in his mid twenties, with the corner office in Manhattan, a big salary and bonus and all the trappings that go with it, AJ was called into the boss's office.  He was told that he would achieve things and that he should lift his sights higher as he was being promoted (with accompanying pay raise and bonus). How would you be feeling at this point?  Delighted, excited, a sense of achievement, expectations for the future?  WOuld you be feeling like you had "Won". Well AJ Leon broke down and cried.  He cried as he quickly recognised that he would soon be trapped. "I saw the 60 year old version of myself, looking back at me right then, and mourning the glory of a life that could have been" Personally , that quote gives me goose bumps. Now it is one thing to feel this way, it is another to act on it. AJ Leon knew it was time for a change.  Time to live a life of his choosing. "I don't want to go on vacations and holidays, I want to go on adventures" I loved this conversation with AJ and i am extremely grateful to Srini Rao from the Unmistakable Creative for the introduction. It has made me reflect on my life and the story that I want to write, as well as the role that I want to play in it. Do you have someone that has helped you tap into your inner misfit?  If not, be warned, you may come away with a completely different outlook after listening to this conversation (or maybe it is an outlook that you have had all along, it just needed dusting off). If you want to know more about AJ Leon, then you can connect with him over at PursuitOfEverything.com, Misfit-inc.com or you can follow him on Twitter @AJLeon

"Be Here Now" with Dr Ivan Misner
Today I am talking with Dr Ivan Misner, the Chairman and Founder of the business networking organisation BNI. Called “the Father of Modern Networking†by CNN and the “Networking Guru†by Entrepreneur magazine, Ivan is happy to share his knowledge, experience, and perspective on how to create connections that count. Throughout our conversations there are many lessons and messages that can be applied to all aspects of your life, both personally and professionally.  From the pivotal moments when Dr Ivan Misner recognised that colleges and universities around the world were not teaching networking, social capital and emotional intelligence so he got together with a number of others to see how they could help each other, to the tips, principles and methods to make it happen. If that was not enough we also talk about our relationship to other aspects in our life, from food and nutrition, health and wellbeing and keeping our life in “harmonyâ€. Dr Ivan Misner summed it up with 3 words - "Be Here Now". Where ever you are and what ever you are doing,  just remember to “be here nowâ€. So, take a listen to this conversation with Dr Ivan Misner and you will hear us discuss the VCP (visibility, credibility, profitability) process, the difference between a lead and a referral, and what it actually means when we give a referral or recommendation. “When I give a referral, I give a little bit of my reputation awayâ€. We also discuss the importance of having a network that is both deep and wide.  In fact Dr Ivan Misner explains that the number of names  that you have in your database is almost irrelevant.  It is how many will answer the phone when you call, and how many would be prepared to help if you need a favour or support. Whilst much of our conversation revolves around networking and business, the chat also includes the impact that being diagnosed with Cancer had on Ivan and how he focused on his health and wellbeing.  If you want to learn more about this you can read the full story and other check out more information at www.misnerplan.com If you want to learn more about networking then head over to BNI.com and if you want to connect with Dr Ivan Misner then you can follow and interact with him on his blog over at businessnetworking.com

"Celebrate" with Scott Friedman
In this conversation with Scott Friedman we talk about motivation, humour, employee engagement, customer experience, customer service, management, culture as well as the Foundation “Together We Can Change the Worldâ€. Scott Friedman was introduced to me by previous guest, Kevin Cottam and as you can see, Scott and I covered a lot of ground during our chat.  No doubt any Managers, Leaders or Employers out there will be fascinated to hear Scott’s take on how to ensure you create more employee engagement and therefore by default, a greater customer experience.  It certainly resonated with me as we discussed the fact that people are looking for connection. To feel like they love their job and they are doing meaningful work.  It makes sense that you feel most valued and engaged when you believe the work you are doing has a purpose.  Have you ever done something (or asked someone else to do something), when you are not really sure why? As Scott says “where you put your focus, you tend to get your results†Anyone interested in training, learning or speaking may enjoy the part of our conversation in which we discuss the pivotal moment that started Scott on his way to becoming a Motivational Humourist and how to make an impact.  Of course, you have no doubt heard that public speaking ranks highly on people lists of greatest fears.  In fact you may be thinking it yourself.  Listen as Scott tells you how he mastered his craft. He also shared a story of his hero, legendary host of the Tonight Show, Johnny Carson and the anxieties he faced each night before heading out on stage. I think this quote that Scott shares from Ralph Waldo Emerson is worth highlighting - “Do the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain†If the above was not enough, Scott shares some details about the Foundation that he co-founded as a means to make a difference and to give back to the area and community  in which he lives and makes his living.  “Together we can Change the World†has a mission to create sustainability and to reduce poverty throughout South East Asia. Scott Friedman talks of creating a “perfect world†and of course this can sound very grand and out of reach, however when I asked him to explain his perception of a perfect world and how we may achieve it, his response brought it back to reality. “Creating the perfect world is achieved by focusing on purpose and values, not on circumstances and emotionsâ€. Together we can bring more joy and less hassle. Now that to me is what creating connections that count is all about.  What do you think? If you would like to know more about Scott Freidman then you can check out his website at ScottFreidman.net, you can join the group Facebook.com/CelebrationatWork or you can find out more about the Foundation via Facebook.com/TWCCTW or the website TWCCTW.org

"This time I am doing it for me" - Lou Bell
Lou Bell has overcome many challenges in his life, yet he still had doubts and anxieties as he attended Camp Reboot as the winner of a scholarship in 2013.  On the 2nd day of the 5 day event, it all clicked into place and it started off the changes that are making a difference in Lou's life.  Lou explained that this is "not just a dieting thing, it is a lifestyle thing".  It really was a change of mindset. The changes started when Lou's best friend asked him to get involved in the marathon they were running and to complete the last 4.2 miles.  This was followed by being nominated for (and winning) the scholarship to Camp Reboot event held by Joe Cross - from the film Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. While he was there Lou connected with the stories of the success panel which included previous guests - Brian Robertson, Kitten the Juice Pirate and Shane Whaley.  It was at that this point that Lou realised that his focus had always been on doing things for others and this time it was about doing things for himself (interestingly, this focus seems to have a ripple effect and is inspiring and supporting many others by default). During our conversation Lou shares his inspiring story, his change in mindset, how he is creating a sustainable change, his intentions for the future, as well as the benefits of having a wonderful community and support network that keeps pushing, challenging, helping and inspiring you to achieve what you are truly capable of.  It really does show the value of surrounding yourself with the right people and the right information. If you want to know more, then take a listen and then connect with Lou Bell via Facebook.com or Twitter. If you would like to know more about Camp Reboot then you can find the details over at RebootwithJoe.com

A different perspective with Krista Michalowicz
Krista Michalowicz is the wife of my previous guest, Mike Michalowicz, (just in case you thought it was a freak coincidence that I had two guest with the same name in such a short period of time).  During my conversation with Mike we discussed the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur, becoming an author and speaker and the impact that has on all around you.  In this conversation we get a different perspective. In this conversation Krista talks of her connection with where she grew up and what it means to her.  We discuss her love for films and books (and how trying convince other - yep, that is you again Mike - does not always ensure you achieve the outcome you are looking for), and how important it is to "find people and friends that make you grow".  Krista shares the lessons that she has learned from the people around her and the pivotal moments in her life. I constantly talk of the fact that there is not a "one size fits all" approach to life and that we all have different perspectives, views, and filters that we see the world through.  My conversation with Krista is a perfect example of this as we discuss some of the same situations and experiences that i discussed with Mike, just from a different perspective. It is fascinating to understand how we can all view the same experience in different ways, yet it is how we communicate with each other that will develop the connection. Listen in as Krista shares the style and approach of using "I" statements to ensure there is clarity when talking with others.  As for other tasks that can be seen from different perspectives, make sure you take notes when we discuss the impact of mowing the lawn.

"insatiably curious" with Deborah Mills-Scofield
From the moment I started speaking with Deborah Mills-Scofield I could hear her passion and enthusiasm for the things we were about to discuss, and we certainly discuss a lot. Deb describes herself as insatiably curious and addicted to learning, and I can see why. We talk about her love for books and reading, her time at Brown University (past and present), cognitive science, learning and development, and management principle, and how they can all be applied personally and professionally. Deb has an infectious nature and I found myself learning whilst laughing along.  I was not just asking questions of her through this conversation, but also of myself.  As we discuss the power of connection, and the people, places and things that Deb connects with, it becomes clear how important this is.  As Deb shares the names of the people that I should reach out and connect with, she describes them with such thoughtfulness, with such conviction and with such honesty.  It is really is obvious that these are connections that count. There are many lessons throughout this conversation.  Of course there is 'what' Deb shares, but as importantly there is 'the way' that Deb shares them. If you want to connect with Deborah Mills-Scofield then you can follow her on twitter @dscofield reach out, engage and let her know that you heard her story here. "Stop turning your back on Mother Nature" with Joe Cross
Joe Cross is the first guest to come back on the show for a second conversation.  You may be wondering what else we would have to talk about since our last conversation.  In July 2013 Joe shared how he changed his focus from wealth to health and went on his 60 day juice fast and documented it for his film Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. Well hold onto your hats as this man does not appear to sit or stand still.  With a new book out, The Reboot with Joe Juice Diet Book, we talk of book tours, signings, presentations and speaking around the world, as well as filming and editing for the new film Fat Sick and Nearly Dead 2. During my original conversation with Joe, he explained that he was surprised by the success and popularity of the film and the impact it has had on so many people.  So in this discussion, we explore what it takes to build a team, an infrastructure and a website capable of supporting and developing both a business and a community.  We also talk about Joe's desire to continue to learn and understand more about the field of health and wellbeing, as well as exploring why things work for some but not others. We also discuss the incredible success stories of those that have been inspired by Joe and the team and the Reboot process and how it makes Joe feel to have influenced so many people.  These include many previous guests on this show, such as Brian Robertson, Eric Rowley, Angela Von Buelow, Shane Whaley, Kitten the Juice Pirate and in coming weeks you will hear from last years Camp Reboot Scholarship winner, Lou Bell, as well as more about this years camp reboot (with an additional very cool idea). As I mentioned, Joe is not one to stand still, so we cover a lot of ground in this conversation, from business development, the power of community, connection and support, writing and launching a book, what it means to be an "expert", how the next film has to be different, the benefits of allowing people space, personal responsibility and ownership and we discuss the concept of "licensing" (and that may not be what you think). Get yourself a juice, sit back and take a listen, and then let me know what you think. The Art of Creating New Ideas with Keith Oldfield
Keith Oldfield asks himself great questions.  Constantly.  He is always coming up with new ideas and new ways of looking at things.  In fact, that is his definition of "inventing", to look at things in new ways and ask yourself "what can I do to make it better?". In my conversation with Keith we discuss how everyone has the ability to come up with new ideas and to explore new development, and of course like most things it is a craft that if you put the time and effort into can be mastered.  I often wonder how often people have wonderful ideas but soon allow the inner critic to bring them back to the "real world" and tell themselves to stop dreaming.  Here is a question - do you talk to yourself?  How positive or negative is that voice that talks back?  Is it supportive and constructive or is it negative and destructive? What about when we are brave enough to share our ideas with those around us?  Do they support us, challenge us, show an interest and ask great questions, or do they laugh, joke, tear us down or tell us it will never work? Keith and I discuss all of this and the real benefits of surrounding yourself with positive people. Oh, and what about when your friends and family come to you with one of their ideas, which of the above would they use to describe you? Throughout our conversation Keith describes how to capture and explore ideas and the persistence in his approach to reach and connect with those that may benefit from them.  Now he is taking it one step further and is backing himself in the development of an idea and taking it from the drawing board to implementation.  Through street light games, Keith is developing and building games including the newly developed Hidden. If you want to connect with Keith Oldfield, and learn more about ideas development and of course the games that he is creating then you can head over to streetlightgames.co.uk or you can email him at [email protected] If you would like to explore and understand more on what it takes to create connections that count, then you can hear more stories from our infinite pie thinkers.  If you would like to find out more about idea development and developing a support team, then get in touch and we will be happy to ask you some of those quality questions, or of course drop us your email and we will ensure the stories, blogs and questions arrive directly to your inbox.

A Compelling Reason to Change with Kitten the Juice Pirate
Kitten the Juice Pirate has made a change in her life.  A change that has impacted and benefitted her in many ways, but what is inspiring about this story is her desire to benefit others.  Others like her immediate family and friends of course, but also others around the world.  In this conversation, Kitten describes how she has gone from the point of almost "giving up" to writing children's books to help them learn about nutrition. Kitten was introduced to me by my previous guest Joe Cross as she appears as a success story in his new book "The Reboot with Joe Juice Diet".  Like previous guests and juicing success stories, Brian Robertson, Angela Von Buelow, Eric Rowley and Shane Whaley, Kitten started on her new approach to life having watched the film Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.  Up to that point Kitten had described herself as "the grumpy mama bear" as her health and weight were impacting more than her ability to get around. If you are trying to develop change in your life, whether personal or professional, then I would suggest and recommend that you have this episode on a loop.  Kitten talks of the time that she realised that she had a compelling reason to change, as she looked out in to the garden at her children and wanted to be there for them. We discuss the support team that helped her on the journey and inspired her to stick with it.  "Thank goodness for moms" is Kitten's recognition that her mothers love and support was what started the whole transition (if was also Kitten's mother introduced her to Joe's film).  Of course she also credits Joe Cross and his team as well as Christopher Lloyd (yep - that one, Doc Brown from Back to the Future).  Next was putting a plan and goal in place, and then they started. Together!  As the changes started to occur, Kitten says she became "a sponge and wanted to learn all I could". Measuring, monitoring, testing, applying and learning kept them going for a 42 day "Reboot" juice fast, however it did much more than that.  It created a sustainable way of life.  An understanding and knowledge of the way things connect and benefit/impact one another.  It seems the change is more than just a physical one Kitten is now keen to share this knowledge and support others and has now written a children's book about health and nutrition, as the character Kitten the Juice Pirate.  So watch out for that on the bookshelves in the future. Are you looking to make a change?  Let us know how you are getting on, what it takes and what you have learned. Of course if you would like to connect with Kitten the Juice Pirate and know more then you can find her on her Facebook page. If you have been inspired by this story then make sure you share it.  Tweet it, copy the link and put it on Facebook, or email it to a friend that you think will enjoy and benefit. Fuller, Happier, Simpler with Alan Fawcett
I have been asking myself some big questions over the years. Â Questions like "why do we seem to constantly search for connection?" or "how do we define a connection that counts?" and of course "how do you review the quality of your relationships to people places and things?". This formed the basis of the podcast and each week I speak with remarkable people, infinite pie thinkers, Â who share their story and give their perspective on the above questions. Â Throughout these conversations my guests have shared lessons, top tips, advice and guidance. One of those top tips was "add in". Â Add in content that brings more colour, more life, more benefits and value. Â So I am adding in. Â In these new weekly episodes I will be giving my perspective on what I have learnt, what has worked (and not worked) for me, and the progress that I am making. Â These short episodes will highlight some of the key lessons and observations and how they are applied. In this first episode i give an overview of the importance of knowing your "why" as well as how you set an outcome and measure your success as well as sharing mine (which has something to do with my life being fuller, happier, simpler). Of course I would love to know what your measure of success is and how you create connections that count. You can also let me know what you would like to explore and understand further and the topics you would like covered in these weekly episodes. Â Get in touch or of course join the infinite pie community and have these and more great content straight into your inbox - then it is a simple matter of hitting reply and I will respond to your questions.

"You've got to know where you want to go" with Shane Whaley
Shane Whaley is the host of JuicingRadio.com and was introduced to me by his co-host Angela Von Buelow when I spoke to her for the connection podcast.  Angela spoke of Shane's support and guidance when she found herself "ready to run" and to make a massive change in her life.  So why Shane?  I am sure that as you listen in, you will soon find out.  With a background in Sales and Sales Management, Shane took the time to master his craft, from listening, helping and serving, creating empathy and trust, to building relationships.  Most importantly he had been there before and had his own pivotal moments that created a compelling reason to change and was now leading by example. Shane candidly shares his story.  Of course it would be easy to focus on the success and the change that he has created in his life (and has since gone on to inspire in others), however as the saying goes "you can't change what you don't acknowledge".  Shane shares the roller coaster ride that saw him become overweight, and under pressure.  Realising that the he would not be a success in other aspects of his life, such as his job and career, Shane knew that his health needed to change.  He needed to be at his best. I think one of the key lessons in this story is when Shane admits that whilst he started to make the change he was easily influenced by those around him.  So with work colleagues giving him "helpful advice" that the health changes he was planning on making were actually not good for him, he allowed the doubts to creep in. The thing is, it seems that Shane is a pretty determined kind of guy, so he kept looking and researching information.  As a key advocate and champion of Joe Cross and the Reboot team (and process), Shane not only now makes juicing a key part of his life, he started juicingradio.com.  A website and "podcast aimed at motivating, inspiring and educating people who are interested in starting juicing, sustaining juicing or renewing their interest in juicing". This episode is more than just a story of juicing and health and wellbeing.  It is the story of a man that realised it is not just a matter of finding out "how' to do something, but also realised the importance of finding out "why" to do something.  Shane covers a lot of ground in this conversation, as we discuss both personal and professional development.  We talk about the skills required to develop a connection, how to make a difference (and how often Unique Selling Points aren't actually that unique). We highlight the power of a mentor, coach and surrounding yourself with a support mechanism that will push you and challenge you to achieve your goals.  In Shane Whaley's words "You've got to know where you want to go" If you would like to connect with Shane Whaley, then you can head over to juicingradio.com and find out more and of course while you are there make sure you create a connection that counts. Staying True to the Creativity with Gareth Davies-Jones
Gareth Davies-Jones is a musician and singer of songs.  In my conversation with Gareth we discuss how his first job was a means to an end.  That end was his first guitar.  Writing his first song at 15 Gareth, knew this was what he wanted to do.  However like many of us, "the real world" kicked in for a while and it was put on hold as he put down his guitar. I really enjoyed discussing the creative process with Gareth, and what works for him.  Calling himself a "terrible hoarder" of ideas (which to me actually sounded like he was a very good hoarder), Gareth explains this gives him the opportunity and time to ensure there is "proper mining of the experiences we have".  It also confirmed to me that we are all different and that it is important for us to understand our own approach to things.  You will hear this as Gareth explains how he needs to work in the "absence of distractions". Whether you are musician or not there is a beauty to the gift of storytelling and Gareth shares many lessons and tips throughout our conversation that can be applied to various aspects of our life.  From avoiding the trap of constantly comparing yourself to others, to you should never stop learning and staying true to the creativity, Gareth sums up with fact that you should just start.  Go and create your "art" and most importantly, be yourself. If you would like to connect with Gareth Davies-Jones, then you can head over to his website at www.garethdavies-jones.com on twitter @waterandlight and Facebook If you have enjoyed this conversation and want to hear more then make sure you check out the other remarkable stories of infinite pie thinkers.

Why Necessity is the Mother of Invention with Mike Michalowicz
Mike Michalowicz is an author.  He has written books such as the The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, The Pumpkin Plan and the soon to be released Profit Fir$t.  In this conversation we will be talking about why Mike loathes the term "serial entrepreneur" (although admits he probably was one at one point in his life), we discuss his fantastic success (and when it happened) as well as the extremely personal revelation of the lessons from one of his crashing failures. Mike Michalowicz talks openly and authentically about his journey so far and the importance of the people that he surrounds himself with, as well as how his priorities and focus have changed based on his experience.  Mike points out there are plenty of people who are happy to tell you that something won't work or "there is no money in it".  However it was when he started talking to people who had "done it right" that he realised  that previously "I was talking to the wrong people". Who are you surrounding yourself with, talking to, and listening to? During our conversation, Mike got the inspiration for a blog post (I love it when that happens), so if you want to read his perspective on trying to achieve life balance, then you can find it here. If you want to connect with Mike Michalowicz (even if it is to find out how to pronounce his last name, or to understand how he turned this "weakness" into a strength), then you can head over to his website mikemichalowicz.com as it is the hub for all of his material, writing and social sites.

Jon Holmes on wearing a lot of hats
Jon Holmes is an award winner broadcaster, writer, comedian and presenter.  Currently the host of the morning show on XFM Radio and a regular on BBC Radio 4 on programs like "The Now Show", Jon admits "I do wear a lot of hats".  So how much work is involved in making it look like you are flying by the seat of your pants?  Jon Holmes shares how his inability to do anything practical as a kid, like change an alternator in a car or even to hold an expensive brick hammer on a building site did not stop him from mastering his craft. Jon explains how "you are never off duty and your brain is always looking for an angle on things...", answers whether he gets nervous when speaking to some of the incredible guests he has on his show, and points how you will know the interview is not going well if you hear him utter the words "so tell me about your film..." As I am like Jon in my inability to do anything practical (I am not sure I even know what an alternator in a car actually is, and certainly couldn't explain what it does, other than maybe that it alternates), I agree that this does not stop you from mastering your craft.  Be persistent, knock on a lot of doors and be resilient if and when you hear the word "no". What are you mastering? If you want to connect and know more about Jon Holmes, then you can visit his website www.jonholmes.net you can follow him on twitter @jonholmes1or you can listen to the morning show on XFM or The Now Show on BBC Radio 4

A Reboot Success Story with Angela Von Buelow
Angela Von Buelow had a great life and a dream job, running a "foodie community" and becoming a restaurant review and food writer.  However this lifestyle started to make an impact in other areas of Angela's life including her health.  Whilst Angela had enjoyed the experiences and benefits of juice fast and detox spa retreats previously, she explains that it took a compelling reason to change, to find a way to incorporate healthy and wiser choices into her life on a daily basis. In episode #14, I spoke with Joe Cross about his journey and the film Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, and since then I have spoken with several of the success stories who have benefitted from "Rebooting with Joe" and appear in his new book.  This includes Brian Robertson and Eric Rowley.  So I love the fact that I now have another opportunity to share a reboot success story with Angela Von Buelow. From the moment we started talking I could hear Angela's energy, passion and enthusiasm for the subject and actually for life in general.  Of course, as this is the first time that I have spoken with Angela I can't tell you if she has always had this infectious personality, but I got a clear indication from our conversation that some of her recent decisions and choices have made a profound impact in her life.  For example when Angela shares her perspective that "you don't know how bad you feel until you start to feel great" I believe that pretty much sums it up. Throughout this episode Angela provides a wonderful outlook and some great advice that we can all incorporate within our lives, whether it be for health and wellbeing, or improving the quality of our relationships (to people, to place and to things).  Listen in as we discuss when Angela had her "Harry met Sally moment" and how she asked herself better quality questions as a result (and amazingly got better quality answers).  You will hear how Angela realised how much of her life she was missing out on and why, and how this had to change.  Angela also points out that a big part of the shift is your connection with people, and therefore surrounded herself with people who were there to help and support her.  Oh, and you will hear how you can't go on a trampoline and not feel happy. Angela now shares her experiences and supports others on their journey as the co-host of JuicingRadio.com with Shane Whaley, and appears as a Reboot with Joe success story in his new book.  If you want to connect with Angela head over to JuicingRadio.com where you will be able to find out more. Reinventing Yourself with Dorie Clark
Dorie Clark is a Marketing Strategy Consultant, Professor at Business schools and author of the book Reinventing You, Define your Brand, Imagine your Future, as well as writing for the likes of Harvard Business Review and Forbes amongst others.  During our conversation Dorie shares her original desire to be a spy and what some may say is a controversial choice of her favourite James Bond.It is safe to say that my chat with Dorie Clark covered a lot of ground, as we discussed travel, experiencing new locations and cultures, as well as developing and defining our personal brands and the stories we constantly tell ourselves and others. There are top tips throughout, however as we point out, it is how you take action and apply these tips that will make the difference. It is a noisy world with a considerable amount of content for people to choose from.  How can you make an impact and stand out?  “Having a body of work and being knowledgeable about it is table stakes†says Dorie, it really is about how you help others to connect the dots and connect with your story.“If you do not create your own story, other people will create one for you.† So are you clear on the story you are telling? If you want to connect and learn more about Reinventing You with Dorie Clark then you can visit her website at www.dorieclark.com or follow her on twitter @dorieclark. ipt ep #65 Srinivas Rao
Srinivas Rao is the host of his own extremely popular podcast previously known as BlogcastFM, however after 4 years and more than 400 interviews, as the content, guests and audience developed, it was time for a change. With a complete rebranding now in place Srini is the host of The Unmistakable Creative podcast.  As Srini points out "a creative life is about exploration and becoming an adventurer", so it is no surprise that he is not prepared to stick with what is comfortable and decided to make this shift and change. The conversation I had with Srinivas Rao before we turned the microphones on and started recording, was a true indication of his priorities.  Having called at the allotted time, Srini confirmed that it was still a good time to talk as the waves weren't peaking just yet and that he had arranged to meet a friend immediately following our call which should correspond with the time when the surf would be at it's best.  I was certainly under no illusion that if the waves would have been pumping at the time of my call, I would have come a distant second.  The thing you may be surprised to hear is that I LOVE THAT, and I certainly would not have felt hurt or offended, and as you listen to our conversation you will understand why. You will clearly hear through our conversation, amongst all the top tips, lessons and advice that Srini provides, the passion he has for surfing.  Actually, it is more than just a passion.  He confirms the first time he stood up on a surfboard as one of the pivotal moments in his life, and he credits it to much of the creativity energy and innovation he brings to the other aspects of his life. As an entrepreneur, blogger, podcaster, interviewer and author of the Wall Street Journal best selling book The Art of Being Unmistakable Srini discusses what it means to be "successful", how the world is a noisier place than when he started, but that it is also much easier to start now and his meticulous approach to his interviews and podcasting. This conversation may help you to ask yourself some challenging and "unmistakably creative" questions, and who knows, maybe the answer is to go surfing (or finding your equivalent). If you want to know more and connect with Srinivas Rao then you can head over to his newly branded website UnmistakableCreative.com or you can follow over on Twitter with @UnmistakableCR. ipt ep #64 Eric Rowley
On first impressions Eric Rowley would not be someone you would expect to see as a success story in the new book by Joe Cross "The Reboot with Joe Juice Diet", as he is an extremely fit and active person.  In fact he has to be, due to his career as a fireman in California.  However, as they say, looks can be deceiving as Eric has suffered debilitating migraines for most of his life. They were so bad, that he actually felt that he was "missing life" because of them.  In my conversation with Eric, he talks of the moment he first watched Joe's film, Fat, Sick and Nearly dead and the profound effect it had on him. They say that if you want to change something in your life, then you need to change something in your life.  Eric Rowley had tried many things to change the fact that he was impacted constantly and regularly by severe migraines.  Migraines that would send him off to lay in a bed, in a dark room, often for a couple of days at a time, hoping for sleep to take over, before his body would purge itself and start the healing process.  It was when a friend of his introduced him to the Joe's film, that things started to change.  Eric freely admits that he was skeptical at first, however within watching the first 5 minutes of the film, he was hooked, and he now credits it with changing his life. Within Eric's story, he could have had the opportunity to make many excuses as to why the strategy, approach, process, system or whatever you want to call it, would not work for him.  As a firefighter he needs to ensure that he is at peak performance.  As a firefighter, he will work long days and have his meals provided for him, thereby influencing what was available.  However, you will hear how Eric saw these as obstacles and a challenge to overcome, not as an excuse to stop, or worse to not even try. Eric has a fantastic perspective on life and a contagious attitude.  Maybe this is why it would appear that he is starting to influence those around him by the example he is setting and the results that he is achieving.  It certainly seems like a great philosophy to me. If you want to connect with Eric Rowley then you can contact him via email - [email protected] (just let him know you heard him on the infinite pie connection podcast). Or why not share the fact that you have listened to this episode via twitter here - click to tweet With all the information and content that is available to us on a daily basis, we need to be consciously aware of what we choose to consume (mentally as well as physically).  The films and programs that we watch, the books and other media that we read, the music or podcasts that we listen to and of course the people that we connect with.  What and who are you surrounding yourself with? There has been some great content discussed in the previous episodes with previous guests, so if you want a list of the books, films, podcasts etc then let me know. Of course if you would like any help and support, then get in touch and we will be happy to discuss how you can achieve the goals and outcomes you are looking for. ipt ep #63 John Corcoran
Speaking with John Corcoran of SmartBusinessRevolution.com you can understand why he has been successful.  A natural born story teller and communicator, John shares lessons and learnings throughout our conversation.  Having worked as a writer in the Clinton White House, then onto the entertainment industry in Hollywood, and Silicon Valley, John is now a successful entrepreneur and runs a boutique law firm. During my conversation with John, he was constantly sharing top tips and advice based on his own experiences as well as lessons learned from the very successful people he has surrounded himself with over the years.  What was the foundation of the success strategies?  Relationships. John and I talk about finding your strength, your style and your voice.  You will learn how many things he wanted to be when he grew up, but also the moment that he made decision and moved from drawing to writing. We discuss the need to focus.  It is a noisy world out there and it is full of "content".  It is very easy to move through the various social media sites, to forums, to groups etc and try to be everywhere.  Often we will be in consumption mode, just taking in the information that we are seeing or hearing.  By spreading yourself too thin, you are not getting any benefit from being a member of these groups or sites, and you certainly are not giving any value.  It may be worth looking at the time you spend, what you do with your time and ask yourself - "what do I get from this and what do I give to this?" and see what the results are. This brings me to the final point.  John Corcoran points out the benefits and impact of "engaging".  Become a key member and a key contributor within the groups that you have selected to join.  Connect, comment, reach out, create relationships, introduce people, share content. John shares a great story and has written about this in a great blog - Stop wasting time on social media.  Take a few minutes and read it.  When you have, let me know if you were nodding your head throughout (I know I was). If you want to know more about John Corcoran then you can head over to his website, in fact he has kindly set up a page specifically for you to access his free e-book on How to Build Relationships with VIP's by clicking SmartBusinessRevolution.com/infinitepie If you have enjoyed this or any of the other stories from the infinite pie thinkers, then please feel free to share them with anyone you think will benefit and enjoy them.  You can head over to the support infinite pie page and you will find the various links to be able to tweet out or share. ipt ep #62 Brian Robertson
In todays episode of the connection podcast, I am talking with Brian Robertson about change and how to create it. Throughout our conversation Brian explains how he went from weighing 350lbs, diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and being in a wheel chair, to getting down to 185lbs and running half marathons.  However, this is so much more than a chat about weight loss. Back in episode #14 of the connection podcast I spoke with Joe Cross about his journey back to health and well being.  Having documented his personal story in the film, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, Joe has gone on to inspire people around the world to "Reboot".  Joe has a lead by example approach, rather than a prescriptive or tell style, and I think this is what people connect with.  It was certainly what inspired Brian Robertson to take action.  Brian explains how he connected with the Joe he was seeing on the screen, the first time that he watched the film.  Having admitted that he had previously cheated on diets and calorie counting processes that he had been given by his health care professionals, Brian saw the transition that Joe made throughout his film and was hooked.  Within hours, his kitchen was filled with the ingredients that he would need to start on his journey back to health.  There was no "wishing" here, it was all about action. As you listen to Brian describe what happened next, you will hear a real story.  You will hear the ups and downs and the challenges and support that he received.  You will hear how the change that occurred was more than just physical.  You will hear about the impact it has had on setting goals and his ambitions for the future.  You will hear lessons that you can all apply into various aspects of your own life. Brian Robertson currently features as a success story in the new book that Joe has out "The Reboot with Joe Juice Diet".  So if you want to read more about Brian and others, as well as learning the tips, techniques, processes and recipes from Joe and the team, then it is well worth it. To me it is the stories that make the impact.  Joe's story has inspired many to make changes in their life. Brian is inspiring those around him by sharing his story and the same applies for the other success stories that I will be sharing from Joe's book in the future.  So please make sure that you share this and the other stories of infinite pie thinkers with anyone that you feel will either benefit or enjoy listening to the inspiring messages and lessons.  You can find the various links by going to support for infinite pie If you would like to connect with Brian Robertson directly then you can email him via [email protected] and let him know that you heard his story via the infinite pie connection podcast. ipt ep #61 Jon Acuff
In todays episode I am talking with New York Times Best selling author Jon Acuff.  Jon has written four books including his most recent "Start: Punch fear in the Face, Escape Average & Do Work That Matters".  With a title like that it was certain to make my reading list.  Jon and I talk about the pivotal moments and people who have impacted his life, how to find quality information in unusual places, the true meaning of being authentic and how to ask the right questions.  We talk about what it takes to write a book, to connect with others and what it means to live your best life. Oh and of course there are some interesting attempts at the British accent. I was first introduced to Jon's most recent book, way back in episode #19 by Pete Williams.  However Pete suggested that he really enjoyed the audio version of the book because of Jon's delivery style as he narrated it.  Having benefitted from following Pete's advice in the past, I soon downloaded the book and was not disappointed.  I have to agree with Pete that both the content and the way Jon delivers it are fantastic, and seem to come at exactly the right time for me.  A time when I was ready for the lessons that I found in Jon's words.  Funny how that happens. Through our conversation, you will come to appreciate the hard work and effort that Jon Acuff puts into his writing. From observation of his surroundings and finding inspiration and creativity in unusual places, it helps to view the world from a different perspective. Jon acknowledges the support that he has been given, the challenges and prompting he has been provided to ensure that he keeps pushing himself to create great work. It is easy to fall into the routine of just doing "stuff".  Just doing enough to get through or get by.  My conversation with Jon Acuff certainly inspired me to focus on what is important and what I can do to awesome work and do stuff that matters.  What about you? Take a listen and let me know what you think. If you want to connect with Jon Acuff and learn more about his style, approach and outlook, then head over to his website Acuff.me or you can follow him on twitter with @jonacuff If you have enjoyed this conversation and want to hear more inspiring stories from infinite pie thinkers then you can sign up to receive every podcast episode and blog posts etc straight to your inbox.  Alternatively you can subscribe via iTunes or Stitcher Radio

ipt ep #60 Dan Franks and Joe Cassandra
Todays episode is a new experience for me as it is the first time I have had two guests on the show.  In this episode I talk to Dan Franks and Joe Cassandra, co-hosts of the Entrepreneur Showdown podcast. Dan and Joe recently had one of my previous guests on their show, Ezra Firestone.  Rather than ask the whole "back story" question again, they simply asked where people could go to hear more about Ezra's past.  It was this question that led Ezra to mention his time on the infinite pie connection podcast and the dominos started to fall as Dan, Joe and I started to connect. Through our conversation we discuss the pivotal moments that have brought them to where they are now and how one of them started his entrepreneurial journey at age 12 whereas for the other it is a more recent experience.  As the both have full time careers that they really enjoy it gives a whole different perspective to their approach and to their show format. You can certainly hear throughout this conversation and through checking out the format of their show that they have a love and real interest in entrepreneurship.  At one point, i forgot who's show it was and who was asking and who was answering the questions. Dan and Joe make it clear that they do not want to have just another business show.  They do not want to have the same guests on, answering the same questions.  They want to discuss specific topics and give their opinion and perspective before bringing a guest on to share their experience. I think where the real value comes is that Dan and Joe have different viewpoints, backgrounds, interests and perspectives, but they come together and are aligned with their purpose.  They seem determined to provide value to their audience (and as a by product themselves), which is a pretty good starting point. If you want to connect with Dan Franks and Joe Cassandra then make sure you head over to EntrepreneurShowdown.com or follow them on twitter @ShowdownPodcast or like them on Facebook If you have enjoyed listening to this episode of the infinite pie connection podcast why not click to tweet it to your friends and followers.  Of course you can always copy and paste the link to this page and share it with anyone you feel will benefit or enjoy it http://infinitepie.co.uk/JoeAndDan and don't forget to check out the other episodes as I speak with inspiring infinite pie thinkers.

ipt ep #59 Philip Merry
My guest today is Philip Merry of PhilipMerry.com and the Global Leadership Academy.  We have a wonderful discussion that start with the pivotal moments that have seen Philip leave his previous role as a family counsellor and set out on adventures and new locations. Philip highlights the lessons that he has learnt and the programs that he has developed throughout the years as he has travelled the world and worked with numerous companies and organisations.  It has certainly given Philip a fantastic insight into not only the alignment of Leadership, Management and Supervising, but the impact of culture. This is not  standard conversation about learning and development and training as Philip explains his current research and study of synchronicity and how it has created an environment of luck for him, presenting the right people and opportunities at the right time. If you would like to connect with Philip Merry then make sure you head over to the website PhilipMerry.com and learn more.  You can also email Philip direct using [email protected] and let him know you heard it here on the podcast, especially if you are interested in getting involved in his research on synchronicity. If you like the show it will mean a lot to me and my guests if you would tweet that you are listening.

ipt ep #58 Du'aine Ladejo
Du'aine Ladejo talks with Alan Fawcett about his time as a World Class Athlete and making the transition from competition to another passion of his, Media production.  However, this is a not a conversation about training regimes and the sacrifices required to make it to the top.  It is about mindset, it is about making a difference, it is about making growth, improvement and progress in whatever area you have a connection with and a passion for.  Du'aine shares the lessons he has learned and the connections that he has made and what it takes to make a great coach.  I recently posted a picture and quote of Bruce Lee on the infinite pie Facebook wall, that said "Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, Add what is uniquely your own".  It feels to me that whether t is athletics, coaching, tv and media production or living his best life, Du'aine Ladejo lives this quote on a daily basis. What do you think? If you want to connect with Du'aine Ladejo, then you can head over to the website www.greatestathlete.com, follow him on twitter @duaineladejo400, or Facebook and keep an eye out for the website for the Fittest Athlete which is coming soon. ipt ep #57 Bryan Neale
In this episode of the podcast, Alan Fawcett talks with Bryan Neale one of the hosts of the Advanced Selling Podcast.  Bryan shares the pivotal moments and people that he has learned lessons from and have helped shape his way of thinking.  We talk mindsets, "inner game", coaching and communication but Bryan is not prepared to quote Shakespeare - listen in to hear why. Bryan Neale gives some great actionable advice throughout this conversation and I know that I for one will be looking at the notes that I have taken and the difference I can now make.  Let me know what you have taken from it and how you will apply it. ipt ep #56 Daniel Flynn
Daniel Flynn talks to Alan Fawcett in the 56th episode of the infinite pie connection podcast.  Daniel talks of the compelling reason that inspired him to make a difference, 5 years ago when he was 19 years old.  When reading the fact that 900 million people in the world do not have access to clean water, Daniel wanted to do something about it.  Many people may have made a donation and moved on.  Daniel decided to start a company and sell bottled water. ThankYou.co has now extended it’s range and helps you to understand the difference that you are making whenever you buy one of their products. Daniel shares the many lessons that he has learned, both about business and about himself, and whilst I believe that there is not a one size fits all approach, there are certainly points that everyone can reflect upon and apply in their own lives. It has certainly inspired me to make a difference, how about you? If you want to connect with Daniel Flynn then you can head over to the ThankYou.co website or the Facebook page ThankYouWater If you have enjoyed this episode and want to hear more stories to inspire you to live your best life, then head over to the infinite pie thinkers page where you will find a summary of all the previous episodes.
