On August 15, 2025, the Dover Quartet released their newest album ‘Abokkoli Taloowa’ (Woodland Songs), which features two new suites of music by Jerod Tate in addition to a string quartet by the late 19th, early 20th century Czech composer Antonín Dvo’ák. ‘Abokkoli Taloowa’ (Woodland Songs) contains five movements, each representing a different woodland creature. Preceding this composition on the album is Tate’s orchestral arrangement of Tuscarora-Taino singer-songwriter Pura Fé’s ‘Rattle Songs’, a piece in seven movements. Atilio Gonzales, a Yanesha craftsman and artist, mentions several Yanesha words…
The following narrative includes excerpts from ‘Since The Age Of Our Grandfathers’, a travelogue which is part of a collection of testimonies and interviews entitled ‘The Universal Phrasebook Of Indigenous Languages (UPIL), where it is all about the voices, accents, and speech patterns of indigenous people anywhere in the world, hand in hand with my own personal anecdotes and observations. As a fluent first language speaker of Mikasuki, the language of her nation, Betty Osceola draws on generations of Miccosukee teachings about respecting all living things and protecting the world in which we live. She leads prayer walks to raise awareness of threats to the environment and to organize people to save the Florida Everglades. Her work is featured in the 2023 documentary ‘Path Of The Panther’ directed by Eric Bendick, who also produced the film, with Leonardo DiCaprio as the executive producer. ••• https://www.instagram.com/bettyosceola/ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Osceola https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miccosukee https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikasuki_language ••• Interview conducted by Marco Rixecker https://www.amazon.com/author/marcorixecker ••• Radio Aula Mundi, May 2025 https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0J-iNFOJ5e7pEH8ldsVqlM272Ly4wwBQ ••• At the moment, Radio Aula Mundi is an evolving podcast station where no language and all languages are spoken… It’s a multilingual mix of music, poetry, lectures, languages, interviews, documentaries, recipes, and a lot more, co-produced with the students of the ‘Aula Mundi International Cultural Center’…••• Radio Aula MundiCentro Cultural & Turistico Aula MundiAula Mundi Cultural Travel Centerhttps://linktr.ee/radioaulamundi •••
