Can Endurance Athletes Truly Learn from Other Athletes & Coaches?
This Coach Tip Tuesday is the 416th one that Coach Laura has written; today we’re celebrating the EIGHTH anniversary of Coach Tip Tuesday! Coach Laura was inspired to keep sharing something she wrote every Tuesday by her friend and mentor Coach Brendan Jackson. So, in what has become an annual tradition since that first Coach Tip Tuesday eight years ago, she is sharing something inspired by what she learned from Brendan for the anniversary of Coach Tip Tuesday. No matter how many people we have to teach us and guide us along our endurance sports journey, ultimately, we must learn through our own experience. The successes teach us something, but the failures actually can teach us more if we are open to receiving the lessons they carry. Perhaps ironically, the cost of failure is what teaches us the most.Read this Article: https://www.fullcircleendurance.com/blog/can-endurance-athletes-truly-learn-from-other-athletes-coaches Ready to start training? How to Return to Training After an Injury
Unfortunately, almost all endurance athletes will sustain an injury at some point in their endurance sports journey. When this happens, it’s important to take a pragmatic approach both to managing the injury itself and to one’s return to training. Why an Annual Training Plan Makes the Difference Between Making & Missing Goals
Athletes often consider the workouts that they do on a day-to-day basis, but they don’t necessarily consider how those workouts build up over time and how workouts completed today and this week impact other workouts six months or more in the future. An Annual Training Plan charts this long-term path toward an athlete’s goals, and a well-developed Annual Training Plan will take an athlete further along the path to their goals than any fancy workout design, intricate interval prescription, or seemingly new-fangled ideas about training ever will. What to Modify in Training When Things Change or Don’t Unfold as Expected
The only certainty in endurance sports - as in life - is uncertainty. A paradox, to be sure. But the truth, nevertheless.Try as we might, we cannot accurately foresee all that will happen in our lives. (And this - the holiday season - is a time of year when this happens a lot.) This means that there will be times when things that were pre-planned in our training and racing will need to change. Being Hard on Yourself? Try This Instead.
You’ve heard the old cliché: We’re our own worst critics. We’re often much harder on ourselves than others in our lives are on us. Are You on Track to Reach Your Goals? The Value of a Mid-Season Athletic Performance Review
All too often, athletes don’t discover (or, perhaps more accurately) admit that they aren’t on track to reach the goals they’ve set until the inability to hit the goal is literally staring them in the face. A much more effective and enjoyable strategy is to conduct a Mid-Season Athletic Performance Review to assess ahead of time if you are on track to reach your goals. This allows you to recalibrate your training (and perhaps your goals) as needed based on where you actually are in your training so you have a higher probability of reaching a desired outcome.Read this Coach Tip Tuesday: https://www.fullcircleendurance.com/blog/are-you-on-track-to-reach-your-goals-the-value-of-a-mid-season-athletic-performance-review Ready to start training?
