    173. Jake Nelson Is Rewriting How Cattle Get Sold

What happens when a rancher sees a hurdle in the cattle industry and decides to build the solution himself? This week, I'm joined by Jake Nelson, rancher, Army veteran, and founder of CattleQuest. Jake shares how his background in ranching, military service, and entrepreneurship led him to create a tool that brings cattle market data from multiple stockyards into one place, helping producers make more informed decisions about when and where to buy and sell their cattle. We talk about taking an idea from a conversation to an actual product, the challenge of introducing new technology into an industry that can be resistant to change, and why Jake chose to launch before everything was perfect. Jake also shares how his military experience shaped the way he approaches leadership, fear, and adversity, and why pushing through uncomfortable situations can leave you more capable on the other side.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Jake:Visit the CattleQuest websiteConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Never Split the Difference: Negotiating as if Your Life Depended on It by Chris VossJoin The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The West

    172. Are You Actually a Fit for That Job?

This week we’re tackling an uncomfortable conversation in the job-seeking world: If you're applying for many positions and never hearing back, you simply might not be qualified for that job.In this solo episode, I'm breaking down how to honestly evaluate whether you're a good fit for a role before you hit apply. We're talking about the "spray and pray" approach, why more applications don't necessarily equal better odds, and how to separate must-have qualifications from skills you can learn along the way. I also dig into technical skills, transferable experience, career transitions, and why sometimes taking a strategic step back can actually move your career forward. This isn't about shrinking your goals or settling for less. It's about protecting your time, energy, and confidence by focusing on opportunities where you can genuinely compete. 171. How to Build Customer Loyalty Without Traditional Advertising with Catherine Neumayr of V8 Ranch

This week, I'm joined by Catherine Neumayr of V8 Ranch, one of the most legendary Brahman operations in the world. Catherine grew up in the cattle industry, but she and her husband, Luke, also built a wildly successful wedding photography business, photographing more than 150 weddings around the world and building their first million-dollar business without spending a dime on traditional advertising.Today, Catherine has brought those lessons back home to V8 Ranch. We talk about why the little details matter, how to create an experience that turns customers into lifelong fans, and the four principles Catherine and Luke used to build their business. Catherine also shares how V8 creates meaningful experiences for customers and why agriculture needs people with skills and experience from outside the industry.Whether you're running a ranch, building a business, or wondering if the skills you've developed somewhere else belong in agriculture, this episode is a reminder that there is a place for you here.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Catherine:Visit V8’s websiteFollow on Instagram @v8ranchFollow on YouTube @V8RanchCattleConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Purple Cow by Seth GodinAuthor Freida McFaddenOf The West Walk Up Song PlaylistJoin The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. This is Part 2 of a two-part episode with Sharon K. Beach. Listen to last week’s episode where Sharon shared the incredible story of surviving a kidnapping, a life-threatening medical battle, and a decades-long fight within the justice system. This week, we're continuing the conversation by digging into what carried her through it all: mental toughness.Sharon shares her ABCs of surviving: attitude, belief, and choice. She also shares how faith, forgiveness, determination, and a refusal to let her past control her helped her rebuild an extraordinary life. Some stories are too important not to tell. This is Part 1 of a two-part episode where Sharon Beach joins me to share the remarkable story that changed her life forever. In 1989, Sharon was kidnapped and held captive for four days and five nights. What followed wasn't just a fight for survival, but years of overcoming life-threatening medical complications and navigating an incredibly difficult justice system. In this episode, Sharon shares how faith and strategy helped her survive, the intense challenges she faced after escaping, and the resilience that carried her through it all. While this conversation is difficult, it is ultimately a story of perseverance.Be sure to come back next week for Part 2, where we dive into the mindset, mental grit, and life lessons that helped Sharon build an extraordinary life after tragedy.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Sharon:Visit her websiteSign up for release dates and info for her book Don’t You Dare Let GoConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233Join The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. We dive into the story behind Halter, how virtual fencing has evolved from an ambitious idea into technology that's transforming cattle operations, and why building products alongside ranchers has been the key to their success. We also talk about labor shortages, succession planning, company culture, and why the future of agriculture depends on creating tools that give producers more time to focus on what matters most. 166. The Goal I Didn't Hit (And Why That's Okay)

In this week's episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on one of the bigger projects we've built at Of The West and sharing the real numbers behind its launch. I'm talking about why we created the Ag and Western Career Blueprint, the goal I set for its first launch, and what happened when we came up just short of hitting that number. More importantly, I'm sharing why missing a goal isn't the same thing as failing, and how having the courage to set ambitious goals in the first place can completely change the trajectory of your business and your life.I also dive into the importance of creating goals that are backed by a plan, the lessons that come from falling short, and why success isn't always measured by whether you hit an exact number. Sometimes the greatest growth comes from what you learn in the pursuit. If you've ever felt discouraged because you didn't accomplish a goal exactly the way you envisioned, I hope this episode encourages you to keep going, adjust your approach, and remember that progress is still worth celebrating.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:The Ag and Western Career BlueprintEpisode 10: How to Set Your Goals SuccessfullyEpisode 84: Goal Setting with Jessie JarvisJoin The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. 165. If You Can't Beat Them, Build It!

Building a great team doesn’t have to mean you’re competing for talent. This week, I'm sharing the story of how a simple conversation with a friend led Of the West to build a college internship program from the ground up for an agricultural business. What started as a solution to a seasonal hiring problem turned into a strategy that can help businesses attract top talent, develop future leaders, and strengthen their workforce for years to come.In this episode, we talk about why internship programs are often overlooked in agriculture and Western industries, what it actually takes to build one that qualifies for academic credit, and how shifting your mindset from "How do I stop this?" to "How do I make this work for me?" can create opportunities. If you're a business owner looking for better hiring solutions or thinking about the future of your operation, this episode is full of practical ideas you can put into action.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Email us at [email protected] The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. 164. How Imperfect People Can Still Change the World

In this week's episode, I'm sharing a story that started with an unexpected flood of Instagram messages after Martin Luther King Jr. Day and led me to think more deeply about cancel culture, leadership, and the impossible standards we often place on one another. It made me realize how quick we can be to expect perfection from the people we admire, while forgetting that every person who has made a meaningful impact on the world has also been deeply flawed.Together, we explore why it's possible to respect someone's contributions without endorsing every decision they've ever made, why curiosity is more valuable than assumption, and how demanding perfection ultimately shuts down honest conversations. If we believe imperfect people can change the world, then we also have to make room for imperfect dialogue, extending the same grace to others that we hope to receive ourselves.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Join The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. After so many of you reached out following the episode I did on beauty products, I wanted to share the swaps we've made when it comes to everyday items we use most for kitchen and household products. As always, I'm not an expert, just someone who's learning along the way and trying to make practical, sustainable changes for my family. From cast iron cookware and glass food storage to homemade cleaners and laundry detergents, I walk through what has worked for us, what I'm still testing, and why I believe progress is more important than perfection. I had you guys submit questions about Of The West; whether the questions were about ranch life, personal life, business, or entrepreneurship, nothing was off-limits. These questions are a bit more personal and will hopefully help you get to know me a bit better.I share my answers to these questions: What are my roles as a ranch wife? How do you get your spouse on board with your big dreams and ambitions?Have I ever had people discount my knowledge as a female in agriculture? How do I escape from work at home and be present with my kids?Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:The 5 Love Languages by Gary ChapmanJoin The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. 161. Girl Talk: My Journey to Low-Tox Living (Product Swaps)

In this week’s episode, we’re taking a little break from our usual career and business conversations for a more personal discussion. After sharing on Instagram that I don’t use certain products in my own home, I received a flood of questions about the products we do use and how I’ve approached reducing our family’s overall toxic burden. I’m not a medical professional, and I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I wanted to share what has worked for me, where I started, and why I believe small, intentional changes can add up over time.I talk about my philosophy on low-tox living, the apps I use to research products, ways to support your body’s natural detoxification systems, and some of my favorite swaps for hair care, skincare, makeup, deodorant, sunscreen, and more. Most importantly, I share why I believe this journey doesn’t have to be overwhelming. You don’t have to throw everything away overnight. 160. The Only Way Out Is Through

In this week’s episode, I’m sharing a lesson that came from a foggy drive across southern Idaho and the perspective it gave me about navigating uncertainty in life and business. We all go through seasons where we can’t clearly see what’s ahead, whether it’s a career transition, a business challenge, a relationship struggle, or simply feeling stuck. In those moments, our instinct is often to stop and wait for clarity, but what I’ve learned is that clarity rarely comes from standing still. It comes from continuing to move forward, even when you can only see a few feet ahead.I also share why I think there are different types of “fog” in life, the temporary kind that clears quickly and the heavier kind that settles in for a season. We talk about the power of momentum, why movement creates clarity, and the lesson we can learn from buffalo, which instinctively run into a storm instead of away from it. If you’re navigating a season of uncertainty, this episode is a reminder that the road ahead still exists, even when you can’t fully see it yet.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Join The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. 159. The $450 Lesson I Learned that Changed the Way I Use the Internet

I’m back with another episode for our solo summer series. Today, I’m sharing a lesson that started with hard-boiled eggs and ended with a $450 plumbing bill. What seemed like a harmless tip I found online turned out to be completely wrong, and it got me thinking about how often we accept information as fact simply because we saw it on the internet. From social media posts and viral headlines to AI-generated content and misinformation, I’m diving into why it’s more important than ever to slow down, ask questions, and think critically about the information we consume and share.I talk about confirmation bias, fact-checking, AI, social media algorithms, and the responsibility we all have to protect our credibility and the industries we care about. More than anything, this episode is a reminder that just because something sounds true doesn’t make it true. If you’ve ever shared an article without reading it, believed a viral headline, or wondered how to navigate an internet that feels increasingly difficult to trust, this conversation is for you. 158. The Season That Nearly Broke Me and What I Learned From It

Welcome to our very first summer episode of Leaders of the West! For June and July, we’re doing something a little different around here. Instead of guest interviews, I’m spending the summer diving into more solo episodes, talking about life, business, career growth, hiring, job seeking, and the heart behind why Of The West was created in the first place. And to kick things off, we’re re-airing the most downloaded solo episode we’ve ever released, How to Push Through a Losing Season.Originally recorded in December 2023, this episode is an incredibly personal conversation about walking through difficult seasons in both life and business. I share some of the hardest experiences my family faced, what helped us keep moving forward, and the mindset shifts that carried us through uncertainty and loss. We also talk about recognizing patterns, preparing for hard seasons before they happen, and why resilience is something we build over time. Whether this episode finds you in a difficult season right now or simply preparing for whatever life may bring next, I hope it reminds you that hard seasons never last forever.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Join The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. 157. Legacy, Land, and Letting Go with Brent Turner

In this week’s episode, I’m sitting down with Brent Turner, founder of Agri-Generational and author of Piece of Land, for a conversation that I honestly think every farm and ranch family needs to hear. We dive into the realities of succession planning, why so many families avoid these conversations, and what’s actually at stake when there’s no clear plan in place. Brent shares how his background in financial planning and decades of working alongside agricultural families led him to focus exclusively on helping farms and ranches navigate transition, continuity, and legacy. We also talk about the emotional side of succession, the different “hats” operators wear inside a business, and why the role of “chief wisdom officer” may be one of the most important positions in a family operation. More than anything, this episode is about building something that lasts, empowering the next generation, and making sure the future of your operation is determined by design instead of default. Whether you’re actively involved in succession conversations or hoping to create something different for your own family one day, this episode is packed with perspective and practical takeaways.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with BrentVisit the Agri-Generational websiteConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Agri-Generational QuizPeace of Land by Brent TurnerLonesome Dove by Larry McMurtryJoin The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestMentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. 156. Girl Talk: Life, Kids, and Fashion with Rachel Joi McGinn

I’m so excited for this week’s episode! I’m sitting down with my friend Rachel McGinn, who many of you probably know online as Rachel Joi. Rachel was truly one of the original creators sharing Western fashion online in the early days of Instagram, and in this conversation, we talk about how much life has changed since then. From fashion and content creation to motherhood, ranch life, music, and silversmithing, Rachel shares what it has looked like to evolve through completely different seasons of life while still staying true to herself. We also talk about confidence, identity, creativity, and the reality that sometimes growth means letting go of old versions of yourself in order to step fully into the life you’ve prayed for.Rachel also shares how she taught herself silversmithing through YouTube and online maker communities after becoming a mom of four, and why continuing to chase your own passions alongside parenthood matters. This episode is an honest conversation about reinvention, perspective, and learning to embrace the season of life you’re in rather than constantly looking backward.Be sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Connect with Rachel:Visit her websiteFollow on Instagram @racheljoiConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteResources & Links:Episode 21. I am so excited for this episode and an announcement! This week, we are kicking off something new called Mentor March. Over the next four weeks, I’ll be bringing you conversations with people who have personally mentored me in different areas of my life, from business and agriculture to marriage, leadership, and entrepreneurship. These are the people who have shaped how I think, how I lead, and how I build. In this episode, I share why mentorship matters so much and why it is not just for entrepreneurs or corporate leaders. We all need a board of directors in our lives. People who have walked the path ahead of us and are willing to tell us the truth. If most of what you have learned has come from other people, imagine what could change if you became intentional about who those people are. 144. Paving the Way and Choosing Joy with Pam Minick

This week, I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Pam Minick, cowgirl, competitor, broadcaster, history-maker, and one of the most respected women in the Western industry. But more than any title she has held, this conversation is about something deeper. It’s about joy.Pam shares her journey from growing up riding horses in Las Vegas to becoming Miss Rodeo America and breaking barrier after barrier as one of the first women to hold major broadcasting roles in rodeo. What stood out most to me was not the accolades, but her mindset. After a recent leukemia diagnosis and months of treatment, Pam made a daily decision to choose joy. That phrase became more than words. It became her anchor, her perspective, and even the name of a racehorse inspired by her resilience. We talk about finding work you love, saying yes before you know how you will figure it out, cheering for the next generation, and why joy is not accidental. It is intentional. This episode is a reminder that no matter what season you are in, you still get to choose how you show up, and the word “can’t” shouldn’t be used.Resources & Links:Nespresso MachineJoin The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job Description Get our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestConnect with Pam:Follow on Instagram @pamelaminickConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteBe sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode! In this powerful solo episode, I’m sharing a message that’s been sitting on my heart: how our tightest grips on people, businesses, and outcomes can unintentionally suffocate the very things we’re trying to grow. Inspired by Of Mice and Men, I talk through how love can morph into control, and how that shift can affect family farms, careers, marriages, and leadership dynamics. This isn’t a “fix it all” episode, but it is a vulnerable look at how letting go just enough might actually allow things to breathe, progress, and flourish. In this solo episode, I’m talking about something most of us wrestle with at some point: when is it okay to quit? Whether it’s a book, a job, a goal, or a season of life, knowing when to push through and when to let go isn’t always clear, and it’s something I’ve been navigating personally.I share the story of a book that triggered way more introspection than I expected, and how that led to deeper questions around alignment, identity, and even whether I still want to say yes to speaking gigs. This is a conversation about redefining what resilience looks like, checking in with your gut, and giving yourself permission to pivot, even if it means walking away from something you once wanted.Resources & Links:Join The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job DescriptionGet our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteBe sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!Mentioned in this episode:Raising a champion takes more than feed. 129. The Scariest Moment of My Life, and What It Taught Me

In this solo episode, I'm sharing a story I've never told publicly before. It's about a terrifying experience that pushed me to the edge, changed how I define "hard," and taught me what truly matters. It starts with a burst blood vessel in my eye (twice) and ends with me realizing just how much strength we find when we're backed into a corner. Through all the fear, uncertainty, and horror-movie-level side effects, I came away with one thing: perspective. Most of the things we call "hard," like awkward emails, new projects, and tough conversations, aren't actually hard. They're just unfamiliar. And once you've faced something truly difficult, you stop being afraid of the little stuff. We can find strength in ourselves to face anything. Resources & Links:Episode 28. 128. Redefining Western Art with Gina Teichert

I’m excited to be joined by Western artist Gina Teichert, a Nevada-born, California-based painter whose work blends tradition, fashion, and a little Clint Eastwood attitude. Her story is a perfect example of what happens when the West meets big-city energy and creativity, and of how art can bridge worlds that don’t always meet.Gina and I talk about what it means to tell the story of the West through art, how the Coors Young Guns shows create space for new voices (and new collectors!), and why she believes the romance of the West is worth preserving, even if some parts of the myth need rewriting. We also touch on her modeling career, her deep respect for ranch women, and how her upbringing in Elko shaped the kind of artist (and human) she is today. If you’ve ever wondered how art fits into agriculture, or why telling the story of our rural life visually still matters in a digital world, this episode will give you a fresh, thoughtful perspective.Resources & Links:Coors Western Art Young GunsPre-order Drinking Wild Water: Essays (Voice in the American West)Join The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job Description Get our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipGet our FREE resource: 10 Resume Mistakes (and how to fix them)Get our FREE resource: How to Avoid the 7 Biggest Hiring Mistakes Employers MakeEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestConnect with Gina:Follow on Instagram @ginateichertVisit her websiteConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteBe sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode! 127. Capturing the Action: Wyatt Wentz on Storytelling in Western Sports

This week, I’m joined by Wyatt Wentz, rodeo videographer, storyteller, and lifelong stock contractor’s son whose passion for Western sports runs deep. If you’ve watched any of the big rodeos in the Northwest lately, there’s a good chance you’ve seen his work.We talk about how Wyatt got started and how he’s grown a full-time career in video since 2020. We hear why his passion isn’t necessarily for content or camera gear, but for rodeo itself. His story is a reminder that you don’t have to be loud to make an impact, and that starting small can lead to something big.Wyatt also shares the lessons he’s learned behind the lens, why his ultimate goal is to produce full-scale rodeos with Western music events included, and how people like Randy Quartieri helped him bet on himself when it would’ve been easier to play it safe. 126. It Pays to Be Loyal

In this solo episode, I’m talking about something that feels a little old-school these days: loyalty. We live in a world of next-day shipping, bargain shopping, and endless options. While convenience is great, I believe loyalty is better. Loyalty builds trust, creates long-term relationships, and pays off in ways that cheap never will.I share personal stories about the Chevron crew that’s serviced my car for over a decade, why my family drives hours to work with one specific salesperson, and why I’ll never go to a different hairstylist. These aren’t just transactions, they’re relationships. And those relationships have brought me peace of mind, priority service, and people who genuinely care.Whether you’re a business owner trying to build a loyal customer base or a consumer wondering if that extra $20 is worth it, this episode is a reminder that loyalty always pays off in the long game.Resources & Links:Join The Directory Of The WestGet our FREE resource for Writing a Strong Job Description Get our FREE resource for Making the Most of Your InternshipEmail us at [email protected] to Of The West's NewslettersList your jobs on Of The WestConnect with Jessie:Follow on Instagram @ofthewest.co and @mrsjjarvFollow on Facebook @jobsofthewestCheck out the Of The West websiteBe sure to subscribe/follow the show so you never miss an episode!
