    #63 The Power Of Why

Send us Fan MailWe unpack how instant answers train us to rush toward fixing and judging, and why that habit quietly erodes connection. We practice using one simple word, why, to replace assumptions with curiosity so our relationships feel safer and more understood. • the hidden cost of information overload on reflection and attention • how quick conclusions turn into assumptions about motives and character • why understanding deepens relationships more than fixing • why questions that uncover fear, pain, unmet needs, and deeper desires • how to ask “why” with the right tone so it invites connection • seeking to understand without confusing it with agreement • using curiosity in parenting beyond behavior correction • pausing when triggered to build self-awareness and align with truth I would love it if you would share your why. And that is why are you finding this podcast valuable? Why have you tuned in? What is the why that brings you back here? #62 When Adult Kids Come Home

Send us Fan MailYour adult child is coming home and you’re genuinely happy… so why does your body feel that quiet, low-grade stress? The real struggle usually isn’t the dishes, the food, or whether they pick up after themselves. It’s the mental spiral: Do I say something up front and risk awkwardness, or stay silent and risk resentment in my own home?I walk through a real coaching scenario where a mom braces for a two-week visit from her son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids. The details are familiar to so many of us: shared spaces getting messy, different habits around meals, and the extra layer of complexity when it’s not your own child but their spouse. We dig into what’s happening underneath the surface and why avoiding a clear conversation often creates more tension, not less. Then I teach the PEACE framework I use with clients: Pause, Examine, Align, Choose, Entrust. We slow down and name the fears driving the overthinking, align our thoughts with truth (it’s not unkind to have expectations in your own home), choose how we want to show up with calm clarity, and entrust the outcome to God. You’ll also hear practical, natural wording for setting expectations without apologizing, overexplaining, or coming in hot, plus a reminder to ask your adult kids what they need so they feel seen and respected. If you want healthier boundaries, better communication with adult children, and more peace in your home, press play, then subscribe, leave a review, and share this with a friend who needs a calmer way to speak the truth in love.Click the link below to set up a free discovery call to begin your transformation today.  Or email me @ [email protected] to find out more about how I can help.  https://calendly.com/smurph923-sm/discovery-callhttps://sharonkcoaching.com/https://subscribepage.io/The-Five-Things-Your-Adult-Child-Needs-to-Hear-From-You

#61 You Can Be Right...Or You Can Have Peace

Send us Fan MailThe fastest way to lose closeness with your adult child is often the most innocent: trying to help by correcting, explaining, or proving your point. When I hear moms say, “I’m not controlling, I’m guiding,” I believe them and I also see the fallout. Those conversations can leave you feeling tense, unsettled, and confused about why connection feels harder than it used to. We dig into the heart of “You Can Have Peace Or You Can Be Right” and why being right is rarely about facts and more about priorities in the moment. I walk through the biggest triggers for family conflict with adult children: finances, career decisions, parenting your grandchildren, and heated opinions about what’s happening in the world. Then we get honest about what’s underneath the need to press the point: ego, fear of losing influence, fear of not being needed, discomfort with disagreement, and the craving for resolution. If you’ve ever replayed a conversation just to think of a better argument, you’ll recognize the pattern. I also draw an important line for women of faith: choosing peace doesn’t mean avoiding truth or letting serious issues slide. When safety, integrity, or grave harm is at stake, love may require you to speak up. I share a practical motive check (urgency vs hesitant love) plus steps to respond with clarity: begin with prayer, pause, prepare your words, return to prayer, and ask God for peace regardless of the reaction. Finally, I outline the framework I teach for rebuilding trust: peace first, then connection, then influence. If this hits home, subscribe, share it with a friend who’s parenting adult children, and leave a review so more families can find support. #60 Holy Self-Care With Denise Jelinek

Send us Fan MailDenise Jelinick joins me to reclaim self-care as something holy, simple, and deeply Catholic rather than selfish or indulgent. We talk about boundaries, guilt, and the practical habits that help us stay peaceful and present in our real lives. • self-care through a Catholic lens as stewardship of the body and mind • the five P’s rule of life: prayer then person then partner then parent then provider • why moms skip “person” and how that creates burnout • the difference between authentic sacrifice and people-pleasing • how serving and fixing can become a way to avoid your own life • “three businesses” as a tool for peace and focus • guilt as a signal for sin versus guilt as a lie • seasons of life, discernment, and choosing where you are irreplaceable • a simple daily practice: “What do I feel?” and “What do I need?” If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at Sharon K Coaching.com. #59 What Type Of Mom Are You?

Send us Fan MailWe’re in a big transition when our kids become adults, and it can leave us wondering what our role even is anymore. We name four common “mom modes” that steal peace and share practical mindset shifts that help us show up with more trust, grace, and calm. • The shock of moving from active parenting to guiding adults • The anxious protector pattern and the love vs fear pause • Releasing control through trust and a short prayer of surrender • The guilty reflector pattern and choosing grace over rumination • Making amends when needed and returning to the present moment • The confused caregiver pattern and the pressure to get it right • Dropping unsolicited advice and using questions instead • The controlling fixer pattern and replacing directives with curiosity • Small daily thought shifts that create more peace and hope If this has resonated with you, I'd really love for you to share it with another mom who you think might need it. If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at Sharon KCoach.com. If you've enjoyed listening, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite platform. And feel free to share with anyone you think might benefit from what you've heard. Click the link below to set up a free discovery call to begin your transformation today.  Or email me @ [email protected] to find out more about how I can help.  https://calendly.com/smurph923-sm/discovery-callhttps://sharonkcoaching.com/https://subscribepage.io/The-Five-Things-Your-Adult-Child-Needs-to-Hear-From-You

#58 You Cannot Fix What You Cannot See

Send us Fan MailI got back from spring break feeling refreshed and ready to dive back into real life and then I walked into my house and saw everything differently. The shower tile. The refrigerator drawer. The laundry room. Nothing “became” dirty while I was gone. I just finally had enough space to see what had been there all along. That moment sparked a bigger question: what else do we miss simply because we are too close to it? We take that idea beyond home routines and into the places that matter most. I talk honestly about how marriage can drift when we get stuck managing schedules and repeating the same conversations, and how tension can become so normal we stop noticing it. I also share how parenting can pull us into tunnel vision, especially when we are worried about a child, and how easy it is to overfunction or carry emotional weight without realizing it. Then we move into spiritual clarity. When life is loud and busy, it can feel like God is quiet, but often we are the ones without room to listen. I reflect on how Jesus withdrew to pray, and why stepping away and slowing down changes our awareness, interrupts thought patterns, and widens perspective. You will leave with simple, practical ways to “step away” even if you cannot take a vacation: small environment changes, relational resets, quiet time with God, journaling, and even visiting different churches to wake up your attention again. If you have been craving answers, peace, or direction, consider this a gentle push to stop doing more and start seeing more. #57 When Your Husband Isn't Concerned...But You Are

Send us Fan MailWe talk about the tension of lying awake worried about our adult kids while our husband seems calm, and how that can make us feel alone and pressured. We reframe what his “lack of concern” may mean and practice a calmer way to respond so we can be peaceful, grounded, and present. • common differences in how mothers and fathers process concern • the meaning we attach to his calm and how it fuels loneliness • awareness versus urgency and why urgency creates tension • the trap of seeking validation so we can feel relief • overfunctioning and emotional burnout in motherhood • questions to uncover the fear underneath the worry • sharing concern with your husband without pressure or blame • releasing the belief that everything depends on us • choosing peace, staying present, and building connection to grow influence If you're a mom with adult children and you're looking to preserve and protect your peace, to feel grounded, to feel present, to deepen the connection that you have with your children and to grow your influence in their lives, then I just want to invite you to take a look at my free guide, the five things your adult child needs to hear from you. If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at Sharon KCoaching.com. #56 Your Nervous System Can Hijack Your Best Intentions

Send us Fan MailI talk about why we can feel “triggered” and react instantly in parenting and family conflict even when we’re determined to stay calm. I break down nervous system regulation so we can bring our thinking brain back online, lead with peace, and create safer connection at home. • why our reactions can feel instant and out of our control • how the nervous system scans for danger before we can think • regulated state versus survival state in relationships • fight responses like arguing lecturing defending and criticism • flight responses like avoiding changing the subject and leaving • freeze responses like going blank numb or overwhelmed • fawn responses like people pleasing over apologizing and self abandonment • the survival brain limbic system and prefrontal cortex working together • why dysregulation takes the thinking brain offline • how regulation helps us model steadiness for our kids at any age • simple tools like box breathing grounding and pausing • daily practices like walking prayer meditation and relaxing the body • the spiritual link between inner regulation and receiving God’s peace go ahead and click the link in the show notes and go ahead and grab that. If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at SharonKcoaching.com. If you've enjoyed listening, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite platform. #55 How Your Thoughts Shape Motherhood And Relationships

Send us Fan MailWe explore why parenting triggers hit so hard and how the story in our mind creates the emotion we blame on our kids. We use a simple CBT based coaching model to help us choose peace, protect our relationships, and stay grounded in faith when our children make choices we do not control. • the difference between circumstances and interpretations • the coaching model: circumstance, thought, feeling, action, result • why the same event produces different emotions in different people • how anxious thoughts lead to withdrawal, control, preaching, and pressure • how these reactions often create distance and reinforce fear • the hidden belief that a child’s choices equal a parent’s success • reframing faith struggles with a thought that leads to peace • praying from peace rather than fear and desperation • using discernment and examination of conscience to track thoughts • key reminder: your child’s life is not your report card If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at SharonKcoaching.com. #53 It's Not Just You

Send us Fan MailEver caught yourself whispering “Is it just me?” and feeling that sting of loneliness that follows? We dig into why our minds latch onto that question, how it quietly fuels isolation, and what to say instead so you can think clearly, act wisely, and feel supported. Drawing on coaching conversations with women navigating phones, church, sports schedules, and the pressure to get parenting right, we unpack the deeper need for belonging that sits beneath the surface of everyday complaints. We explore how the brain reacts when it senses you’re an outlier, why it swaps curiosity for self-criticism, and how a tiny reframe—“I know I’m not alone; what’s the next right step?”—points you toward practical help. You’ll hear real examples that move from light moments to heavy concerns, plus a look at how modern life has thinned everyday mentorship among women and what we can do to rebuild it. If you’ve felt tired, worried, overwhelmed, or unsure, you’ll find language that normalizes your experience and opens the door to relief.Faith is part of this path too. We talk about bringing our needs to God from peace and surrender rather than panic, and how that posture clears space for guidance and small, doable next steps. Most of all, we invite you to become the steady friend you wish you had: listen first, share honestly, protect stories, and offer simple, testable ideas. You’re not a unicorn, and nothing has gone wrong—humans have carried these feelings across generations. #52 Ten Lessons From Launching A Podcast And Learning To Live With Courage

Send us Fan MailEver notice how “I’ll start when I feel ready” quietly turns into never? We’re celebrating a full year of weekly publishing with ten hard-won lessons about choosing courage over comfort, plus a bonus that changes how we lead at home and at work. From battling resistance that looks suspiciously like reorganizing the laundry drawer to recording on the road with imperfect gear, Sharon pulls back the curtain on what it really takes to build momentum and keep going. We unpack why confidence shows up after the reps, not before; how commitment removes the exit ramp; and why mindset outperforms skill set when life gets messy. You’ll hear practical ways to detach from other people’s opinions, reframe confusion with “everything is figureoutable,” and make “ready” a decision rather than a feeling. Along the way, we explore growth as a whole-person shift: when you step forward in one area, your identity expands and the ripple touches marriage, parenting, prayer, and purpose. If you’ve been craving a nudge to start the thing—applying for the job, having the hard talk, rebuilding a habit, or launching your own creative project—this conversation gives you a simple map: expect resistance, begin messy, keep your promise, seek wisdom, and welcome discomfort as the price of transformation. #50 How Faith-Filled Fasting Heals Our Attachments --- With Denise Jelinek

Send us Fan MailWhat if the moment fasting feels hardest is the moment you’re closest to freedom? We sit down with Catholic weight loss coach Denise Jelinek to unpack why cravings spike, motivation dips, and self-judgment roars right when we try to detach from food, screens, wine, or the bathroom scale. Denise shares her journey from secret bingeing and shame to a surrendered, grace-led approach that honors both neuroscience and the soul, and she explains how to recognize spiritual attacks without fear or drama.Across our conversation, we map five common traps—intensified cravings, subtle vainglory, burnout and discouragement, identity lies, and ungodly self-reliance—and pair each with concrete practices. You’ll learn how to pre-plan gentle replacements for trigger times, add physical comfort to reduce friction, and use a simple reframe—by the grace of God—to keep wins rooted in humility. Denise’s two rescue questions, “What do I know now?” and “Where do I need more care and support?” turn setbacks into formation and end the shame spiral that keeps so many stuck. We also dive into emotional literacy with 60-second pauses that ask, “What do I feel?” and “What do I need?” so true needs can be met without running back to old habits.Lent becomes a training ground for lifelong freedom: check with God first about what to fast from, replace white-knuckled rules with patient detachment, and consider fasting from the scale if it has become a noisy idol. Surrender shifts the focus from outcomes to obedience, from striving to trust, from control to communion. Listen to find practical tools, spiritual clarity, and a calmer way to pursue temperance that lasts well beyond Easter. #48 From Wrath To Patience: How To Stop Reacting And Start Responding --- Part 3 of Virtue Series

Send us Fan MailAnger doesn’t only shout. Sometimes it slips in as a clipped tone, a snarky reply, or the tightness that creeps into your chest after a long day. We take an honest look at wrath as a habit—and why reacting feels easier than responding—then map out a practical path toward patience that actually holds under pressure. Sharon shares a vulnerable “Old Yeller” parenting moment, not to heap shame, but to show how awareness and small choices can transform the emotional climate at home.We break down the many faces of anger: resentment that stores pain, rage that spills over, indignation that can turn self-righteous, animosity that divides, and retaliation that hides in the silent treatment. Then we turn to patience as practiced strength. You’ll hear how mortification trains your reactions, how meekness keeps power under control, and how peace, tranquility, and composure protect relationships. Along the way we name the roots—unmet expectations, fatigue, and old wounds—and offer simple tools to interrupt the cycle: breathe before speaking, pray in the moment, name your feelings without blame, and lower unrealistic standards. This conversation blends mindset coaching with faith, highlighting scriptural anchors like “quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.” The goal isn’t perfection; it’s progress measured one response at a time. Choose one relationship this week and try a single practice. Notice what changes when you create space between trigger and response. #44 Better Questions For The New Year

Send us Fan MailResolutions fade when they’re built on pressure instead of purpose. We offer a calmer way to start 2026: five simple questions that reveal what to release, what to keep, what to learn, what to explore, and what to create more of. Rather than chasing another crowded checklist, we guide you to a reflective reset that aligns with your values, faith, and season of life.We begin by naming the hidden costs of post-holiday stress and why January promises so often collapse by February. From there, we map a practical life audit across six integrated areas—marriage or primary relationship, motherhood or fatherhood, friendships, self-image, health, and contribution through career or service. You’ll learn how to rate each area honestly without shame, choose one focus that matters most right now, and apply the five questions to craft a plan that is specific, humane, and sustainable. Along the way, we share a self-image case study, from muting comparison triggers to creating space for prayer and journaling, so you can see how small shifts compound into real change. If you’re hungry for progress but tired of hype, this conversation hands you a clear framework, a kinder mindset, and the courage to act. Start with one area, ask better questions, and let your choices reflect what you truly value—peace, intimacy, health, learning, service, and joy. #36 Why Guilt Doesn’t Motivate (And What Does)

Send us Fan MailEver try to shame yourself into a habit only to feel stuck and tired? We explore why guilt can force short-term compliance but rarely creates the deep, steady motivation that sustains prayer, health, and order. Drawing on a faith-centered lens and practical psychology, we unpack how curiosity and acceptance become catalysts for lasting change—and how that same posture can transform the way we motivate our kids, spouses, and teams. We start with a relatable morning misstep and use it to reveal the inner scripts that keep us stuck: shoulds, harsh self-talk, and quiet comparisons. From there, we separate extrinsic motivation—driven by fear, guilt, or people-pleasing—from intrinsic motivation rooted in purpose, love, and conviction. You’ll hear why kindness, not shame, opens the heart, and how this aligns with spiritual wisdom about how real transformation happens through relationship and invitation.Expect practical tools you can try today. We walk through a morning prayer habit using curiosity to diagnose obstacles, acceptance to reduce resistance, and small environmental tweaks to make follow-through easier. You’ll get simple phrases that shift conversations from pressure to partnership—like help me understand what’s been hard—so home and work feel safer and more collaborative. We also connect the dots between nervous system safety, problem-solving brain states, and the consistency you’ve been chasing.Leave with reflection prompts for prayer and journaling, a renewed sense of compassion for yourself, and grounded language to lead with grace. If this speaks to you, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a quick review so more listeners can find these tools. #31 The Power of Showing Up

Send us Fan MailWe explore one of the simplest yet most powerful principles for living a meaningful life: showing up consistently for yourself and others. #28 The Present: You Are Here

Send us Fan MailSharon Murphy, certified life and mindset coach, explores the transformative power of living in the present moment and how it creates a foundation for peace and purposeful action.• Being stuck in the past or anxious about the future robs us of our power in the present• Like a hiking map that marks "You Are Here" rather than where you've been, our focus should be on our current position• Past trauma deserves healing, but we must choose what meaning we assign to our experiences• Mindfulness is not "woo-woo" but rather taking control of our thoughts and awareness• Processing emotions in the moment, rather than buffering with distractions, leads to healing• Simple practices like noticing nature or focusing on breathing can bring us back to the present• The only place we have control is the present, and that's also where God meets us• Being present allows us to appreciate our current blessings rather than waiting for future happinessIf you're ready to find out what it looks like to live your life with purpose on purpose, take advantage of a free 30-minute coaching session by using the link in the show notes. #27 The Past: Is Yours Holding You Back?

Send us Fan MailAre you trapped in stories from your past? That painful conversation from years ago, the mistake you can't forgive yourself for, or even those "better times" you wish you could return to? This episode dives deep into how our thoughts about past experiences—both traumatic and wonderful—can keep us from fully experiencing our present lives. When we continuously revisit past hurts or disappointments, we're not just remembering them—we're actively recreating those emotional experiences in our present moment. Each time we think those familiar thoughts, we strengthen the neural pathways that make these thought patterns our mind's default setting. Like reaching for the clothes at the top of our drawer because they're most accessible, our brains naturally gravitate toward our most practiced thought patterns. The revolutionary idea I explore in this episode is simple yet profound: the only part of your past that exists today is your memory and thoughts about it. While counseling helps us heal from past wounds and traumas (which is essential work), coaching helps us decide how we want to think about those experiences moving forward. This distinction makes all the difference between staying stuck and creating the life you truly want.Through personal stories, thought experiments, and practical examples, I'll show you how taking complete ownership of your thoughts about the past—whether it was something that happened to you or something you did—is the ultimate form of empowerment. You'll discover that what happened in your past, good or bad, has no power over you except the power you give it through your thoughts.Join me next week as we explore the power of the present moment and what's uniquely available to us when we fully inhabit the now. In the meantime, I'm offering free 30-minute coaching sessions to podcast listeners—check the show notes to sign up and discover what it looks like to live your life with purpose, on purpose.Click the link below to set up a free discovery call to begin your transformation today.  Or email me @ [email protected] to find out more about how I can help.  https://calendly.com/smurph923-sm/discovery-callhttps://sharonkcoaching.com/https://subscribepage.io/The-Five-Things-Your-Adult-Child-Needs-to-Hear-From-You

#26 Do You Wish You Were More Disciplined?

Send us Fan MailDo you start enthusiastic projects only to abandon them weeks later? Feel repelled by rigid schedules despite knowing structure helps achieve goals? You're not broken—you're wired differently. This episode challenges the one-size-fits-all approach to discipline that dominates personal development culture. For those who thrive on variety, spontaneity, and excitement, traditional productivity systems often feel like straitjackets rather than tools for success. Instead of viewing your distractibility as a character flaw, I invite you to see it as pointing toward your natural strengths. The tendency to seek novelty and excitement often accompanies powerful creative abilities, innovative thinking, and infectious enthusiasm. Rather than fighting against these qualities, I share practical strategies for channeling them toward your goals. From turning household chores into games to finding exercise that feels like play, you'll discover how to accomplish necessary tasks without sacrificing the variety your mind craves. As a Catholic life coach, I also explore how virtues like temperance and fortitude can help balance natural tendencies without suppressing your authentic self. Growth doesn't mean becoming someone else—it means becoming the best version of who God designed you to be, strengths and challenges included.Ready to discover what living with purpose looks like for your unique temperament? #25 Hitting The Reset Button

Send us Fan MailHave you ever desperately wished for a do-over in life? That childhood plea of "I want a redo!" still echoes in our adult lives when we fall short of our expectations. While true redos aren't possible, something more powerful is: the reset button.Just as IT professionals suggest restarting your device when things malfunction, we too can restart our minds, habits, and intentions at any moment. This episode explores how summer's carefree nature gradually eroded my carefully constructed routines and disciplined habits from January. Rather than dwelling in disappointment, I'm choosing to hit reset—and inviting you to join me.The beauty of life's reset button is its constant availability. You don't need to wait for Monday or January 1st—you can restart in this very moment. We delve into how our actions stem directly from our thoughts, many of which operate below our conscious awareness. By identifying the sneaky, disempowering thoughts that creep in ("Summer makes routines impossible," "I might as well live it up"), we can replace them with intentional, empowering alternatives that drive healthier decisions. This episode offers practical strategies for clearing mental clutter, challenging unhealthy thought patterns, and creating space for intentional living. For Catholics, the Sacrament of Reconciliation represents the ultimate reset—but regardless of faith background, everyone can benefit from consciously choosing better thoughts. Remember, no one counts how many times you hit reset. Each press represents not failure, but a fresh opportunity for growth and renewal. Send us Fan MailWe explore how dreaming is a divine gift that many adults have abandoned, and why reclaiming this ability is essential for living our fullest lives and discovering our God-given purpose.• Most of us naturally dreamed as children but lost this ability through criticism or practical advice from well-meaning adults• When we stop dreaming, we tend to become cynical and critical of others who dare to dream• The belief that dreaming is selfish or unrealistic often prevents us from exploring our true potential• We encourage children and teenagers to dream big but don't extend the same permission to ourselves• Science shows we move toward what we visualize, making clear goals and dreams essential for growth• Our desires and dreams are likely aligned with God's plan for our lives, not opposed to it• Practical steps include building belief around your desires, taking them to prayer, and writing them down specifically• Dream big but hold dreams lightly—God's vision is often more expansive than our ownIf you've enjoyed listening, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite platform. #23 Redefining Success

Send us Fan MailWe explore the true meaning of success and why we need to redefine it according to our personal aims and values, not society's standards of wealth and prestige.• Success by definition is simply "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose"• Society associates success with certain jobs and titles (doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs)• We don't typically use "successful" to describe stay-at-home parents or teachers, even when they excel• Small daily accomplishments are legitimate successes worth celebrating• Getting up early to work out or pray is a success• Organizing a neglected closet is a success• Patiently listening to someone who needs an ear is a success• Success should align with our personal values rather than external standards• The hospice perspective: people rarely regret not earning more money or titles• True success may ultimately be measured by becoming a saint—living a life of virtue• Challenge: identify what you value, redefine success accordingly, and celebrate small victoriesSchedule a free 30-minute coaching session with me to explore how to redefine success in your life or learn more about living with meaning and purpose. #22 The Real Reason You Feel Stuck

Send us Fan MailHave you ever found yourself paralyzed by indecision, perpetually worried, or constantly overwhelmed? These emotions might not be what they seem. They could be protective shields keeping you from experiencing deeper, more uncomfortable feelings. In this revealing episode, I share my journey discovering how the simple phrase "I don't know" became my default response to difficult questions until I was challenged to push beyond it. This awakening led me to recognize a pattern many of us experience - indulging in certain emotions that prevent growth rather than processing the vulnerable feelings underneath. We explore the most common "indulgent emotions" including confusion, indecision, overwhelm, perfectionism, and worry. I explain how these emotions, while seemingly ordinary, actually function as sophisticated avoidance mechanisms. When we stay stuck in these states, we protect ourselves from potential failure, judgment, or discomfort, but we also prevent meaningful progress in our lives. The counterintuitive solution? Do exactly what these emotions are keeping you from doing. Make the decision. Take imperfect action. Start somewhere despite feeling overwhelmed. This approach feels uncomfortable initially, but leads to immediate clarity, empowerment, and forward movement.Through personal examples and practical coaching insights, I offer a roadmap for recognizing when you're spinning in these emotional patterns and how to break free. You'll learn to identify what's hiding beneath your surface emotions and develop the courage to face what you've been avoiding.Ready to transform your relationship with emotions that keep you stuck? Listen now, and discover how taking one brave action can shift everything. And don't forget - I'm offering free 30-minute coaching sessions to podcast listeners who want to explore these concepts further in their own lives. #21 Beyond Scarcity: Embracing Abundance

Send us Fan MailDo you constantly feel like you don't have enough time, money, or resources? This perpetual state of "not enough" might be a scarcity mindset that's creating unnecessary stress in your life. Sharon Murphy explores the prison of scarcity thinking and how it manifests in three primary areas of our lives. She shares her personal struggle with time scarcity, revealed through recurring dreams about not being able to open her high school locker - a dream her mother and sisters surprisingly share. This common dream experience points to a universal fear of not having what we need when we need it.When it comes to money, Sharon challenges the belief that earning and keeping money must be difficult. She suggests that money is simply a tool representing value, and providing value is the straightforward path to creating wealth. Her father's healthy relationship with money demonstrates how an abundance mindset actually creates more abundance, while scarcity thinking produces stress regardless of how much you have. The most profound insight may be that having more rarely solves the problem. Someone trapped in scarcity thinking who acquires more time, money, or resources will simply find new ways to feel limited and anxious. The solution isn't more of anything - it's a fundamental shift in mindset from scarcity to abundance.Sharon invites listeners to identify where scarcity thinking affects their lives and challenge the belief that they don't have enough. She suggests getting specific about what "enough" would actually look like, revealing the arbitrary nature of our metrics. Most importantly, she offers the liberating perspective that we might already have everything we truly need right now.Ready to break free from scarcity thinking? #20 What Are You Focusing On?

Send us Fan MailOur focus creates our reality and has a profound impact on our experience of the world. What we choose to pay attention to shapes not only our thoughts but our emotions, actions, and ultimately the results we get in life.• Mental blinders can both help us achieve our goals and prevent us from seeing the complete picture• What we focus on grows—positive attention breeds positive outcomes, while negative attention breeds negative results• Social media algorithms and our brains work similarly, offering us more of what we've previously engaged with• Changing our thoughts changes our physiology—shifting from "I have zero energy" to "I'm someone who gets stuff done" creates actual energy• Taking custody of our minds allows us to direct our focus toward what serves us• Our neural pathways become deeper with repetition, making it harder to change established thought patterns• We can choose which mental "windows" to look through, selecting perspectives that help us become better peopleI'm currently offering a free mini session for any of my listeners. #19 What We Get Wrong In Our Relationships

Send us Fan MailWe all create unspoken operating manuals for the people in our lives that establish our expectations of how they should behave, think, and act. These unexpressed expectations become the source of frustration, resentment, and relationship problems when others don't follow rules they never agreed to.• Our manuals often contain "shoulds" – assumptions that others should know what we want without being told• We tie our happiness to someone else's behavior, giving away control of our emotional wellbeing• The differences that initially attracted us to our partners often become sources of frustration later• Manipulation attempts to control others and threatens their sense of free will• Opening lines of communication allows us to make requests without demands• Approaching others with curiosity rather than judgment helps us see different perspectives• Taking responsibility for our own emotions creates freedom in relationships• Setting boundaries protects us without manipulating others• Focusing on our own responses rather than controlling others reduces frustration• Humility helps us recognize that our way isn't the only right wayI'm currently offering a free mini session for any of my listeners. #18 Courage vs. Confidence

Send us Fan MailWhat's the real difference between courage and confidence, and which do you actually need more of? In this illuminating exploration, life and mindset coach Sharon Murphy unravels a common misconception that holds many of us back from living fully.Courage isn't an emotion but a choice available to all of us—the decision to take action despite uncertainty or fear. Meanwhile, confidence is a belief that grows only after we've taken those brave steps forward. This revelatory perspective flips conventional thinking on its head: we don't need confidence before starting; we need courage to begin, and confidence naturally follows.Through thoughtful analysis of these two qualities, Sharon reveals why many of us stay stuck waiting for confidence that can never come until we first act with courage. She examines how saints and inspiring figures throughout history demonstrated remarkable courage, drawing strength not from self-confidence but from faith. By distinguishing between confidence in outcomes versus confidence in our ability to weather whatever comes, she offers a liberating framework for approaching challenges. The most profound insight? People who exude authentic confidence have consistently practiced courage over time. They've learned they can face difficulty and emerge stronger, regardless of perfect outcomes. This understanding transforms how we view "failures," helping us embrace each experience as an opportunity for growth rather than evidence of our limitations.Whether you're hesitating to pursue a dream, begin again after disappointment, or simply step out of your comfort zone, this episode provides the perspective shift needed to move forward. #17 Commitment Changes Everything

Send us Fan MailWhat's the difference between things you accomplish and things that remain perpetual dreams? The answer lies in one powerful word: commitment.Drawing inspiration from Father's Day reflections and my mother's 84th birthday celebration, this episode explores what true commitment looks like in our lives. We all know people who demonstrate unwavering dedication – whether to their families, faith, or calling. Their example shows us that commitment isn't just about intention; it's about making a decision and refusing to give yourself an out. Many of us struggle not because we lack goals or desires, but because we haven't fully committed to them. We tell ourselves stories about why "now isn't the right time" or how "things are too busy." These are clear indicators that we haven't made the internal decision required for true commitment. Without this decision, we inevitably falter when challenges arise, as they always do in any worthwhile pursuit. The key to commitment is having a powerful "why" – an emotional engine that drives you forward when motivation wanes. When you're truly committed to something, you show up consistently regardless of how you feel in the moment. Your prayer time isn't always inspiring. Your exercise routine isn't always enjoyable. Your marriage isn't always picture-perfect. But commitment means doing it anyway.Take inventory of your life today. What are you genuinely committed to? What merely occupies space on your someday-maybe list? For those areas where you want to deepen your commitment, identify the thoughts and emotions that will fuel your dedication. And just as importantly, release yourself from commitments that don't align with your highest purpose.Ready to go deeper with this topic? I'm offering free 30-minute coaching sessions for listeners. #15 Transitions

Send us Fan MailSharon Murphy explores how to navigate life transitions, from major milestones to daily shifts that challenge our mental energy and emotional wellbeing.• Life transitions require significant decision-making, which exhausts our brains• Our brains register unknowns as threats, making transitions feel uncomfortable• Change in identity is one of the hardest aspects of transitions to navigate• Daily transitions like the after-work/before-dinner window (3-6 pm) can be just as challenging as major life changes• Buffering behaviors like mindless eating often emerge during transition periods• Planning ahead and creating flexible routines dramatically reduces transition stress• Remembering our unchanging identity as children of God provides stability• Each transition we navigate prepares us for the ultimate transition from this life to the nextIf you enjoyed listening, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite platform. #14 When Things Are(n't) Hard

Send us Fan MailDo you constantly tell yourself that certain tasks are "too hard"? From waking up early to putting down your phone, we label countless everyday activities as difficult when they're simply uncomfortable. This mindset creates unnecessary barriers in our lives, preventing us from taking actions that could lead to meaningful growth and positive change. As a certified life and mindset coach, I've noticed this pattern repeatedly in my clients and even caught myself falling into the same trap. When we examine what makes something "hard," we often discover it's just resistance to feeling emotional discomfort. The most damaging aspect of this habit is that our brains believe what we repeatedly tell them. By constantly framing activities as "too hard," our minds accept this as truth, shutting down before we even attempt the task.Think about the areas where you use this excuse. Perhaps it's prayer, exercise, healthy eating, or having difficult conversations. The question isn't "Is this hard?" but rather "What am I avoiding, and why?" Breaking free from this mindset requires eliminating "it's so hard" from your vocabulary, replacing it with questions like "How can I make this easier?" and taking decisive action. Like training for a race, each small challenge we overcome builds our capacity to handle bigger ones. By embracing discomfort in small things, we prepare ourselves for life's marathon, developing the perseverance needed for whatever lies ahead.Ready to break free from the "too hard" mindset? Connect with me at SharonKCoaching.com to explore how this pattern might be limiting your potential and discover strategies to build mental resilience that will transform your approach to challenges.Click the link below to set up a free discovery call to begin your transformation today.  Or email me @ [email protected] to find out more about how I can help.  https://calendly.com/smurph923-sm/discovery-callhttps://sharonkcoaching.com/https://subscribepage.io/The-Five-Things-Your-Adult-Child-Needs-to-Hear-From-You
