    Part 1: Hormone Replacement Therapy

On today's episode Laura discusses hormone replacement therapy.  This is not medical advice, it’s me sharing what I’ve learned through research, client work, and personal observation. The goal is to give you the bigger picture so you can make informed, grounded choices about your health.HRT is being pushed harder than ever, and many women are told that aging automatically means to go on HRT. But your body was designed to shift through each life stage with purpose. In this episode,  Laura break's down how hormones naturally change over time, why the current hype around estrogen is misleading, the differences between conventional HRT and bio-identical HRT, and what risks and benefits you need to know. Most importantly, we’ll talk about the foundations you should put in place before even considering HRT, because no patch, pellet, or cream can fix a stressed-out, undernourished, or burnt-out body.___________LINKSLaura’s Info:Instagram: @wildlyonswellnessWebsite: www.wildlyonswellness.comOfferings:Wild + Well-Fed CourseWild + Well-Fed Clinic Shop Wild + Well-FedWild + Well-Fed Journal on SubstackMembership + Eat Your Prenatal are no longer available.

    S7 | EP 05 | Menopause

In this episode we are going to be discussing menopause. Menopause and perimenopause is not talked about much and if it is,  it’s in relation to using hormone replacement therapy. Our modern world views menopause as a disease, something that needs intervention - just like pregnancy and puberty with birth control pills and the excessive medical care during pregnancy. Women are basically being treated like our bodies are mistakes and normal phases of life are now all about marketing, pharmaceuticals and unnecessary interventions. Menopause is a natural phase of life that does not require intervention but instead it requires an understanding of your body, giving yourself grace during the process and it should be a time to reflect and slow down, not do more. LINKSLaura’s Info:Instagram: @wildlyonswellnessWebsite: www.wildlyonswellness.comOfferings:Wild + Well-Fed CourseWild + Well-Fed Clinic Shop Wild + Well-FedWild + Well-Fed Journal on SubstackMembership + Eat Your Prenatal are no longer available.

    S7 | EP 04 | Preparing for Pregnancy

Preparing for pregnancy is really important, but is a lost art in modern culture. Today’s preparing for pregnancy is a 5 minute chat with your OBGYN where you get off your birth control, get your IUD removed, and they tell you to pick up a prenatal vitamin from Target and good luck. In most cases, there’s zero talk or emphasis on the importance of a preparation period, the importance of diet (all they will tell you is to eat “healthy” - but no one really knows that that means), the importance of physical therapy or CORRECT exercise, etc. We believe that is setting women up for failure, and that’s what we want to spend today talking about.  Fertility is the 5th vital sign for women, so if you’re not supporting your body and your ability to have children even if you don’t want them, you are doing yourself a major disservice. Annika has been in this phase for a while, so today we’re going to walk you through a timeline of how we recommend preparing for pregnancy, what we’ve walked our clients through on their fertility journeys, and what Annika is doing since she’s in this phase currently .

If you've been in the wellness space for a while, you've probably tried (or at least heard of) therapeutic diets like Low FODMAP, Gaps, or AIP. These diets, while touted as healing, healthy, and nurturing, almost always have the opposite effect. In this episode, Laura and Annika discuss the dark side of these so-called "healing" diets, the reasons why someone might be tempted to try them, and the aftermath of adhering to diets this strict for extended periods of time. S5 | EP 07 | Body Building, If It Fits Your Macros, Beach Body + Weight Watchers

Body Building, If It Fits Your Macros, Beach Body, and Weight Watchers are all very different diet and "fitness" lifestyles. However, they all have the same goal - starving your body in order to force your body into a weightloss response. The one thing these diets all have in common is that they are not sustainable, they promote restriction, unhealthy eating habits, unhealthy relationships with foods, and lead to deprivation + disordered eating. For obvious reasons, we don't recommend any of these diets. In this episode, we break down each diet and why we don't recommend it. We also discuss macro counting, why it can be helpful, and why there might be a time and place for macro counting from a place of nourishment, not restriction and deprivation. S5 | EP 05 | Low Fat Diets

Every woman in our generation is no stranger to the low-fat diet fad that swept the nation before we were even born. Our mothers and grandmothers had the low-fat propaganda engrained into their brains starting from about the 1960s, and the messaging has really stuck with them.Growing up around the low-fat craze,  we've all probably tried a low-fat diet. But is it ever a good idea to remove an entire macronutrient food group from the diet? You know what we're going to say! Tune into this episode to find out why low-fat is just another (very powerful) dieting trend that we recommend avoiding.LINKSLaura’s Info:Instagram: @wildlyonswellnessWebsite: www.wildlyonswellness.comOfferings:Wild + Well-Fed CourseWild + Well-Fed Clinic Shop Wild + Well-FedWild + Well-Fed Journal on SubstackMembership + Eat Your Prenatal are no longer available.Episode Links:Put Your Heart In Your MouthThe Big Fat Surprise

Vegan + vegetarian diets have been popular for years. In the last few years, "plant-based" diets have become even more popular, thanks to documentaries like Game Changers and You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment. We have a lot to say about vegan and vegetarian diets, and some of it might surprise you! At the end of the day, what we'll always recommend is consuming high-quality, properly-raised, humanely-harvested animals. We do not believe women, men, or any person can be healthy and thriving on a vegan diet.  LINKSLaura’s Info:Instagram: @wildlyonswellnessWebsite: www.wildlyonswellness.comOfferings:Wild + Well-Fed CourseWild + Well-Fed Clinic Shop Wild + Well-FedWild + Well-Fed Journal on SubstackMembership + Eat Your Prenatal are no longer available.Episode Links: Ciardullo Cattle CoErica Ciardullo US Wellness MeatsFlying B-Bar RanchWhat the Hell?! Paleo and Whole 30 Diets... throwback to 2014, are we right? These diets took the internet and health communities by storm, and probably most of us tried one (or both) when they were popular. While they come off as not as harmful or extreme as some of the other diets we're discussing in this season, we certainly don't think they're harmless. We don't recommend Paleo or Whole 30 diets for many reasons.
