    The Sword of the Spirit

The sword of the Spirit stands as the only offensive weapon in the full armor of God, representing the Word of God empowered by the Holy Spirit. While Christians often focus on defensive spiritual warfare, Scripture calls us to actively take back territory that the enemy has claimed. This involves destroying strongholds, dismantling false speculations, and bringing every thought captive to Christ's obedience. The sword isn't just any word, but specifically the transformative Word of God that performs its work in believers, equipping them for every good work. Before we can effectively use this weapon against spiritual forces of darkness, we must first allow the Word to pierce our own hearts. The living and active Word divides soul from spirit, judging our thoughts and intentions, leading us to genuine repentance and transformation. This personal experience with God's Word becomes the foundation for our testimony and our ability to share the gospel with others.Every believer is called to preach the gospel, not necessarily from a pulpit, but through their daily life and conversations. The most powerful gospel message often comes through personal testimony - the simple story of who we were before Jesus, what He did in our lives, and who we are now because of Him. When combined with all other pieces of spiritual armor, the sword of the Spirit becomes an effective tool for advancing God's kingdom and seeing lives transformed through the power of the gospel.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence🎙️ PodcastThe Shed at ProvenceAvailable wherever podcasts are found

    Cultivating the Gifts

Understanding spiritual gifts begins with recognizing that they are expressions of God's grace, not rewards we earn through good behavior. The Greek word 'charismata' means concrete expressions of grace, emphasizing that these gifts flow from God's unmerited favor. This truth helps us understand why the operation of gifts doesn't necessarily indicate God's approval of someone's character, as Jesus warned that many would claim to have prophesied and cast out demons yet be told 'I never knew you.'The Bible doesn't provide just one exhaustive list of spiritual gifts, but rather multiple lists that highlight different aspects of how God works through His people. Romans 12 includes gifts like serving, giving, and showing mercy alongside prophecy and teaching. First Corinthians 12 lists more supernatural manifestations like healing, miracles, and tongues. This variety demonstrates that God uses whatever gift is needed in the moment to reach souls and build up the church, whether it appears supernatural or not.Perhaps most encouraging is that spiritual gifts are available to every believer. Paul clearly states that each person is given a manifestation of the Spirit for the common good, and he actually encourages believers to earnestly desire spiritual gifts. The proper motivation for using these gifts must be love, as outlined in 1 Corinthians 13, which serves as the foundation for all gift operation. When motivated by love and used for the common good, spiritual gifts work together like parts of a body to create unity and advance the mission of making disciples.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence🎙️ PodcastThe Shed at ProvenceAvailable wherever podcasts are found

    The Helmet of Salvation

The helmet of salvation represents one of the most crucial pieces of spiritual armor, protecting our minds from enemy attacks in daily spiritual warfare. Unlike viewing salvation merely as a past decision or future destination, this helmet provides immediate, active protection for our thought life right now. When we've equipped ourselves with other spiritual armor, the enemy's primary target becomes our minds, manifesting through anxiety, depression, sleepless nights, racing thoughts, and inability to focus on God's Word. This protection operates through the transformation and renewing of our minds, as described in Romans 12:2. God cares deeply about our mental health, not just our spiritual condition, and we have access to the mind of Christ. The battle strategy involves taking every thought captive to Christ's obedience, refusing to let negative thinking patterns run unchecked. We must actively choose what we dwell on, following Philippians 4:8's guidance to focus on whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. Many Christians make the mistake of treating this helmet like Sunday-only protection or leaving it unused on the shelf. True spiritual warfare requires daily commitment to guarding our minds, auditing our media consumption, and consciously choosing transformation over mere behavior modification. The goal isn't to appear good externally while remaining broken internally, but to experience genuine change through the Spirit of God dwelling within us.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence🎙️ PodcastThe Shed at ProvenceAvailable wherever podcasts are found

    Activated - Casia Tibbs

Every believer has been given spiritual gifts through the Holy Spirit, but many Christians live with dormant gifts that remain unactivated. The difference between having a gift and operating in it lies in our willingness to surrender and step out in faith. According to First Corinthians 12, spiritual gifts are manifestations of the Holy Spirit given for the common good of building up the church and advancing God's kingdom.Spiritual gifts operate like a lamp connected to a power source - the connection is secure through the Holy Spirit, but the gifts remain dark until we choose to flip the switch. Many believers exhaust themselves trying to manufacture gifts through human effort, but activation requires surrendering rather than striving. Signs of dormant gifts include feeling prompted to encourage others but staying silent, sensing compassion but not stepping forward to help, or dismissing spiritual promptings as mere imagination. There are two categories of spiritual gifts: motivational gifts from Romans 12 that reflect how you're naturally wired to function in the body of Christ, and manifestation gifts from First Corinthians 12 that operate through supernatural empowerment in specific moments. God doesn't erase your personality when using you; instead, gifts add a missing dimension that completes who you were created to be. Activation happens when believers intentionally step out, speak up, pray boldly, and trust the Spirit's leading, focusing on building up the church rather than promoting themselves.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence🎙️ PodcastThe Shed at ProvenceAvailable wherever podcasts are found

    The Shield of Faith

The distinction between belief and faith forms the foundation of spiritual protection and victory. While many people treat these terms as synonymous, Scripture reveals a crucial difference: demons believe in God and tremble, yet they remain unsaved because faith requires more than mental agreement. True faith combines belief with obedience, transforming internal convictions into external actions.Paul's instruction to be strong in the Lord refers to God's kratos - His dominion and influential power. This isn't about human strength but about accessing kingdom authority. When we face spiritual opposition, particularly as we shift from internal church focus to external mission, we need more than good intentions. The enemy's attacks come like flaming arrows designed not just to discourage but to destroy everything connected to us - our families, dreams, and legacies.Faith becomes our shield by serving as the title deed to what we hope for. Hebrews 11 demonstrates that every hero of faith took action based on their beliefs. Noah built an ark before rain came, Abraham left his homeland without knowing his destination, and Moses chose suffering with God's people over temporary pleasures. Taking up the shield of faith means moving beyond passive religious consumption to active participation in God's mission, stepping out of comfort zones in obedience, and making disciples rather than just being discipled.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence🎙️ PodcastThe Shed at ProvenceAvailable wherever podcasts are found

    The Shoes of Preparation

The instruction to put on the shoes of the gospel of peace might seem like an unusual piece of spiritual armor, but it reveals something profound about God's heart for mission and preparation. When we ask the simple question - why do you put your shoes on? - the answer becomes clear: because we're getting ready to go somewhere. This isn't about polishing armor for someday; it's about preparing to go right now into the battlefield where the harvest awaits.Paul emphasizes that we should put on the preparation of the gospel of peace - something God has already prepared for us, not something we create ourselves. This connects to the truth that God prepared good works for us to walk in before we ever showed up on the scene. The gospel we carry isn't just any message; it's the announcement that there's a new King on the throne - Jesus, the Prince of Peace. This gospel of peace tells us both who our King is and where we're supposed to go.We don't carry this message to places that already have peace to affirm their tranquility. Instead, we go into the middle of chaos and let peace have dominion. We are carriers of peace, and wherever we go, we take Christ's peace with us. This peace doesn't come from our circumstances and can't be taken away by the world. When we put on these shoes of peace, we can walk into chaotic situations and declare peace over them, bringing the transformative power of the gospel into a world desperate for what we carry.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence🎙️ PodcastThe Shed at ProvenceAvailable wherever podcasts are found

    The Breastplate of Righteousness

The Christian life is not a peaceful journey after salvation but an active battlefield requiring spiritual preparation and divine armor. The enemy remains passive when believers are inactive, but the moment they begin advancing God's kingdom, spiritual warfare intensifies. Paul's instructions in Ephesians 6 about putting on the full armor of God become essential for every believer who wants to make a kingdom impact. The breastplate of righteousness stands as one of the most critical pieces of spiritual armor because it protects the vital organs and covers the largest target area for enemy attacks. However, many believers make the mistake of trying to fashion their own breastplate from personal righteousness, which appears ragged, full of holes, and inadequate for real protection. This approach leads to insecurity and fear about whether their righteousness is sufficient for spiritual battles. The solution lies in understanding that we wear God's righteousness, not our own. Isaiah 59 reveals that God Himself wears righteousness as a breastplate, and through Christ, believers become the righteousness of God. This righteousness is entirely a gift, received through salvation and developed through discipleship. When believers fall, they don't lose this righteousness because it belongs to Christ, not to their performance. The Holy Spirit convicts believers of their righteous identity rather than condemning them for failures, empowering them to rise again and continue advancing in spiritual victory.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

Armor of God: The Belt of Truth

The spiritual battle facing believers today centers on the fundamental question of truth in a culture that increasingly promotes relativism and personal truth over absolute truth. Paul's instructions in Ephesians 6 reveal that our struggle isn't against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness that systematically work to undermine God's truth through sophisticated deception. The enemy's strategy, which began in the Garden of Eden with the question Did God really say, involves taking divine truth and gradually weakening, skewing, and altering it until it becomes truth-adjacent but not actually true. The belt of truth serves as the foundational piece of spiritual armor because truth literally holds everything else together. Without this foundation, the breastplate of righteousness becomes loose, the sword of the Spirit misplaced, and our entire spiritual defense system compromised. God is truth itself, as Scripture repeatedly declares, making any attack on absolute truth a direct assault on God's character. The cultural war against objective truth isn't merely societal drift but a deliberate spiritual strategy to undermine divine authority.Victory in this battle doesn't depend on our performance, goodness, or spiritual maturity but on God's strength accessed through submission to His truth. This means leading with biblical truth rather than emotions, practicing institutional and personal transparency, and allowing our minds to be transformed through God's Word. When believers anchor their righteousness, peace, and faith to the foundation of God's truth, they can stand firm against deception and watch as the light of Scripture drives out every shadow of lies in their lives.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Armor of God

Many Christians live far below their spiritual potential because they've forgotten their true identity in Christ. The book of Ephesians reveals that believers have been transformed from spiritual death to life, raised up and seated with Christ in heavenly places. This transformation demonstrates the same power that raised Jesus from the dead now working within us. We are described as more than conquerors, not barely surviving but overwhelmingly victorious through Christ's love. The enemy's primary strategy is deception rather than direct confrontation. He knows he cannot overpower believers who understand their position in Christ, so instead he lies about our worth and abilities. Our value isn't determined by our performance but by the price paid for us - Christ's own life. When we grasp this truth, we realize that everywhere we go, we carry victory with us.Jesus commissioned all believers to make disciples, not just pastors or missionaries. However, the enemy has positioned himself in the harvest fields where we're meant to gather souls. The key is recognizing that he's trespassing on territory that doesn't belong to him. We must put on the full armor of God and stand firm, not defensively but offensively, reclaiming every corner of culture and society for God's kingdom. Victory is already ours - the question is whether we'll live like the more-than-conquerors God has made us to be.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Firstfruits: Dethroning King Mammon

In our spiritual journey, we face three competing idols that vie for the throne of our hearts: Appetite, Busyness, and Mammon. While we can address physical appetites through fasting and combat busyness by prioritizing prayer, the idol of Mammon—our relationship with money and material wealth—requires a different approach: biblical generosity. The concept of first fruits comes from ancient agricultural practices where farmers brought the very first portion of their harvest to God before knowing if the rest would survive. This wasn't about giving leftovers or surplus, but about trusting God with the unknown. These farmers demonstrated radical faith by giving their first and best to God, believing He would protect and bless the remainder of their harvest even when locusts, worms, or pestilence could destroy everything left in the field.Jesus taught clearly about generosity, promising in Luke 6:38 that by our standard of measure, it will be measured back to us. Paul reinforced this teaching, emphasizing that God loves a cheerful giver. True biblical generosity flows from an encounter with God that transforms our hearts, not from obligation or rules. Our giving reveals who we truly believe is our source of provision. When we give, we're declaring that God is our provider, not our job or paycheck. The goal isn't to find a comfortable percentage we can budget and forget about, but to cultivate a generous heart that trusts God enough to give sacrificially, requiring faith rather than surplus.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Firstfruits: Dethroning King Busyness

Modern society has elevated busyness to the status of an idol, convincing us that constant activity equals importance and worth. This cultural lie has infiltrated the church, where believers struggle against three primary idols competing for God's rightful place: King Appetite (self-reliance), King Busyness (achievement-based worth), and King Mammon (material security). King Busyness is particularly seductive because it feeds our ego and makes us feel indispensable, but it creates a dangerous trap where everything becomes urgent and nothing remains truly important. Our priorities serve as windows into our hearts, revealing what we truly worship. When we examine how we spend our time, money, and mental energy, we discover whether we're living according to God's kingdom values or worldly demands. Misplaced priorities inevitably lead to powerlessness, as seen throughout Scripture with examples like the prophets of Baal who had religious activity but lacked divine power because their hearts sought control rather than submission. The solution to dethroning King Busyness lies in the militant act of prayer. Prayer isn't merely another task to complete but a declaration that time with God is never wasted. When we give God the first fruits of our time through daily prayer, we trust that the Maker of Time will redeem our remaining hours. This practice forces us to realign our priorities with eternal values, breaking the bonds of busyness and establishing God's rightful place as King of our hearts.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Firstfruits - Dethroning King Appetite

Throughout history, the idol of King Appetite has occupied the throne of human hearts, beginning with Adam and Eve's fateful decision in the Garden of Eden to trust their desires over God's provision. This ancient struggle continues today as we face endless distractions and competing priorities that seek to dethrone Christ from His rightful place in our lives.Jesus didn't suggest fasting as an optional spiritual discipline - He assumed it would be a regular practice for all believers, alongside giving and prayer. In Matthew 6, Christ outlines these three fundamental duties that directly address the primary temptations seeking to rule our hearts. Biblical fasting differs significantly from other religious practices because it focuses on motivation rather than mere ritual. Scripture provides numerous examples of both successful and failed fasts, with the key difference being whether the fast was motivated by genuine pursuit of God or by self-righteousness, manipulation, and empty ritual.True biblical fasting serves as a physical reminder of spiritual hunger, forcing us to worship through weakness and align our physical needs with our spiritual dependence on God. When we fast, we reverse the decision made in Eden by choosing to trust God rather than ourselves for satisfaction. The practice doesn't require complete food abstinence - partial fasts, liquid fasts, or skipping specific meals can all be effective when paired with intentional prayer. The goal isn't to prove spirituality or manipulate divine favor, but to dethrone King Appetite and return Christ to His proper place as the source of our satisfaction and strength.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

God Wants Your First: Firstfruits in a Year of Harvest

The biblical principle of first fruits extends far beyond financial giving to encompass every area of our lives. From the very beginning, when Abel brought the firstlings of his flock while Cain offered an afterthought, God has consistently asked for the first and best of what we have. This includes the first fruits of our time, energy, talents, and attention, not just our money.Giving first fruits requires tremendous faith because it means trusting God to provide for everything else after we've given Him the first portion. This can be challenging when our calculations don't seem to add up, but it demonstrates that God is our ultimate source, not our job or abilities. The practice actively dethrones three major idols that often rule our hearts: the king of appetite (through practices like fasting), the king of busyness (by prioritizing time with God), and the king of mammon (by trusting God over financial security). When we give God our first fruits, we're acknowledging that everything we have comes from Him and belongs to Him. This isn't about earning God's favor but about aligning our hearts with His priorities and demonstrating trust in His provision. By putting God first in practical ways - whether through morning prayer, financial giving, or using our best energy for His kingdom - we position ourselves to receive the abundant harvest He has planned for our lives.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    2026: A Year of Harvest

As believers enter 2026, there is a powerful prophetic word declaring this to be a year of harvest. After years of preparation - digging deep into hearts and establishing spiritual foundations in 2025 - the fruit is finally beginning to ripen. This harvest will manifest as restored families, entire households coming to salvation, prodigal children returning home, and hope being renewed in unprecedented ways. However, harvest time brings unique challenges that many believers are unprepared for. The enemy doesn't panic during planting or growing seasons, but waits strategically for harvest time to launch his most devastating attacks. Like the Midianites and Amalekites who would swarm Israel's fields during harvest, the enemy sets up camp right in the middle of what should be our greatest blessing, seeking to steal, kill, and destroy the fruit of our labor.Success in this harvest season requires understanding that we are called to be workers, not spectators. The harvest will not happen automatically - it demands active participation, spiritual warfare, and the courage to storm the gates of hell rather than waiting defensively. Most importantly, the harvest fields are not inside church buildings but in our immediate circles - workplaces, neighborhoods, and families where our testimony carries the most weight. Believers must dethrone the idols of appetite, busyness, and money while putting on the full armor of God to succeed in this crucial season.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Make Room - Casia Tibbs

The familiar Christmas story of no room at the inn carries a deeper message about making space for God in our overcrowded lives. When Caesar Augustus ordered a census requiring everyone to return to their ancestral homes, Bethlehem became overwhelmed with travelers. Mary and Joseph, with Mary ready to give birth, found themselves without proper accommodation - not because people were hostile, but simply because there was no space available.Mary's journey to this moment began with an extraordinary act of faith. At only 14-16 years old, she received the angel Gabriel's announcement that she would conceive Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Her yes to God meant facing potential death by stoning for being an unmarried pregnant woman, social shame, family rejection, and the unknown challenges of pregnancy and childbirth. Yet she responded with complete trust, calling herself a bond slave of the Lord and surrendering to God's plan. Joseph, initially planning to quietly divorce Mary, also demonstrated obedience when God revealed the truth through a dream.Their example shows us practical ways to make room for God: clearing our schedules for prayer and worship, releasing fear and control from our hearts, embracing humility in ordinary moments, choosing trust over worry, walking in obedience even in small things, and creating space through loving and serving others. The story teaches us that God doesn't wait for perfect conditions - He enters ordinary, overlooked places when we make ourselves available. Peace comes not through ideal circumstances but through God's presence. The question isn't whether God is willing to come near, but whether we're willing to make room.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Growing through God's Word

In our pursuit of spiritual growth, many believers search for depth in miraculous experiences, prophetic words, or emotional encounters. However, true spiritual maturity is found by being firmly rooted in God's Word. This isn't about limiting God or treating Scripture as merely an academic exercise, but recognizing the incredible power and depth contained within the pages of the Bible.God's Word has a rich history that demonstrates its power and authority. Before it was written down, God spoke creation into existence with His Word, commanding light to pierce the darkness and hanging the earth on nothing. When God inspired men to write His words through the Holy Spirit, that same creative power was preserved for future generations. After 400 years of prophetic silence, the Word broke through in the most unprecedented way when Jesus, the Word made flesh, came to dwell among us. Following His death, resurrection, and ascension, the Holy Spirit continued to inspire the apostles to record divine revelation.Today, Scripture remains living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, capable of transforming us from the inside out. However, many believers face obstacles in their relationship with God's Word. Some approach it like a textbook, seeking quick answers rather than developing a relationship with the text. Others prioritize spiritual experiences over Scripture study, becoming more mystical than truly Christian. Still others struggle with the Old Testament, not realizing that understanding it is essential for grasping the full meaning of the New Testament. To develop a genuine love for God's Word, we must understand that we're engaging with the living God who still speaks today, learn proper study methods that unlock Scripture's meaning, and test all spiritual teaching against biblical truth.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

  17. 41

    Growing through Service

Christianity at its core isn't about adding religious practices to our existing life, but about complete transformation through service and humility. Jesus exemplified this perfectly throughout his ministry, consistently putting others before himself and actively seeking their welfare. His temptations in the wilderness revealed his commitment to this path - when offered all the kingdoms of the world, he refused the shortcut and chose sacrifice instead.Jesus made his philosophy clear through both teaching and action. He declared that whoever wishes to be great must become a servant, and he lived this out dramatically at the Last Supper. Despite deserving all honor, he took the position of the lowest servant and washed his disciples' feet. This wasn't an emotional moment but an intentional demonstration of how the highest must humble themselves to serve the lowest. This call to servant leadership directly opposes our culture's emphasis on rights and self-fulfillment. Scripture calls us to give preference to one another in honor and to use our freedom as an opportunity to serve through love. Service challenges us because it forces us out of our self-centered perspective, but this is precisely how we grow spiritually. When we humble ourselves and put others first, we develop character, build empathy, and deepen our understanding of Christ's love. Growth happens not when we focus on ourselves, but when we serve others with the attitude that was in Christ Jesus.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Growing through the Spirit

The Holy Spirit is often misunderstood as either a mysterious force or relegated to emotional church experiences, but He is actually a distinct person of the Trinity who works actively in believers' everyday lives. Rather than being confined to Sunday services, the Holy Spirit should be just as present and powerful on Monday morning as during weekend worship. The Spirit works in four primary ways in Christian life. First, He purifies through salvation and ongoing sanctification, producing supernatural fruit like love, joy, peace, and patience that cannot be manufactured through human effort. Second, He unifies believers in ways impossible through human effort alone, as seen throughout Acts when Spirit-filled communities drew closer together. Third, He reveals God's truth through Scripture, illuminates our understanding for proper interpretation, and provides guidance and direction. Finally, He empowers believers for ministry, spiritual gifts, prayer, witnessing, and creative kingdom advancement. Many Christians experience spiritual struggles not because sin is too powerful, but because they rely on willpower and self-discipline instead of the Spirit's transforming power. True spiritual growth requires complete submission to the Holy Spirit's leading, recognizing that behavior modification without heart transformation leads to frustration. The proper response to understanding the Spirit's work is worship and prayerful dependence, allowing Him to work creatively through us while simultaneously transforming us in the process.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    Growing in Community

In a culture that emphasizes individualism, the biblical concept of growing through community challenges us to embrace our interconnected design as believers. The church represents far more than a building or weekly service—it is literally the body of Christ on earth and God's dwelling place in the Spirit. As carriers of a divine mandate, we serve as witnesses to the gospel's power and bearers of hope in a hopeless world.Jesus prioritized unity among believers in His final prayer, recognizing that our oneness serves as evidence to the world of His divine mission. The Greek word Ekklesia, meaning the called-out assembly, emphasizes that authentic church requires believers gathering together with purpose. From the beginning, the New Testament pattern has been growth through community—Jesus gathered disciples, the apostles assembled in the upper room, and the early church came together for prayer, worship, study, and service.Maintaining unity requires focusing on core truths while extending grace on secondary matters, putting others before ourselves, and recognizing that every member of the body is essential. Building intentional community starts with practical steps like learning names and stories, moving beyond consumption to participation, and looking for ways to serve others. We're not at church by accident—God has placed each of us there both to receive from and contribute to the community of faith.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

  20. 38

    Growing through Encouragement

In a world filled with division and negativity, the church is called to stand apart as a community of encouragement. Growing through encouragement means more than offering empty platitudes or making people feel good - it involves inspiring, equipping, and propelling others to fulfill their purpose in Christ. This biblical approach to community building is essential for spiritual growth and church health. The author of Hebrews reveals why encouragement is so crucial: it actually combats the deceitfulness of sin and prevents hearts from becoming hardened. Many people have walked away from faith not because of theological disagreements, but because they lacked an encouraging word from fellow believers in their time of need. Biblical community goes beyond simply gathering together - it requires living life alongside one another, sharing struggles and victories, and walking together in authentic discipleship relationships. The connection between spiritual maturity and unity cannot be overlooked. According to Ephesians, the test of spiritual maturity is unity of faith. We cannot claim to be mature in Christ while constantly being at odds with other believers. This doesn't mean uniformity - we can agree to disagree on secondary issues while maintaining unity around the core truth that Jesus is Lord. True revival won't look like emotional experiences we attend, but rather like living room discussions, kitchen table Bible studies, and Christians living life together in authentic relationships. When we commit to being intentionally encouraging, looking for opportunities to build others up rather than tear them down, we create the kind of loving community that draws others to Jesus and demonstrates His kingdom on earth.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

  21. 37

    Growing with Intention

In a culture that encourages reactive living, Christianity demands something radically different: intentional living that aligns every aspect of life with God's mission. As believers, we're not independent actors but part of the global Body of Christ, connected to a divine purpose that spans history. This understanding transforms how we approach every decision, conversation, and action.True Christian growth doesn't happen accidentally. Ephesians 4:15-16 calls us to grow up in all aspects into Christ, requiring deliberate choices and purposeful living. This means doing everything in Jesus' name, as Colossians 3:17 instructs, and seeking God's glory in all things, whether eating, drinking, or any other activity. Our words should reflect God's message, and our service should demonstrate His strength, making others ask how we accomplish what we do.The danger of unintentional living is real - it leads to self-deception and damages the church's reputation. There's no such thing as private faith or part-time Christianity. Jesus didn't die a partial death, so our response shouldn't be partial either. Following Christ requires tearing down old foundations and rebuilding everything on Him as the cornerstone. This week, examine every area of life through the lens of intentionality, asking whether words and actions glorify God and align with His mission. Growth is the expected outcome of Christian life, and it only happens through intentional, purposeful living that represents Christ to a watching world.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

  22. 36

    Cultivating a Culture of Generosity

True generosity flows from heart transformation, not financial obligation. The Bible presents powerful contrasts between those who encounter Jesus and respond with open hearts versus those who cling to their possessions. Zacchaeus, despite being a despised tax collector, immediately offered half his wealth to the poor after Jesus invited himself to dinner - not because Jesus demanded it, but because grace transformed his perspective. Meanwhile, the rich young ruler walked away sad when asked to sell everything, choosing comfort over commitment.Jesus taught that giving reveals the true condition of our hearts and our understanding of God as our source. The widow's two coins were worth more than the large gifts of the wealthy because she gave everything while they gave from surplus. This distinction separates true giving from mere tipping - one flows from trust in God's provision while the other operates from leftover abundance. Our giving patterns reveal whether we truly believe God is our provider or if we're just paying religious dues. The focus shouldn't be on percentages or amounts but on cultivating a heart that recognizes God's ownership of everything. When we understand that all we have belongs to Him, generous giving becomes the natural response of a transformed life. The question isn't whether God needs our money - He doesn't. The question is whether we want to participate in His kingdom work or miss out on the blessing of partnership with Him.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence

    The Pursuit of Freedom

The Pursuit of Freedom: Finding True Liberty in God's Spirit explores the profound difference between worldly freedom and the genuine liberty found in God's presence. While America celebrates independence from tyranny, Christians celebrate freedom from sin's bondage through Jesus Christ. This message examines 2 Corinthians 3:17, revealing that true freedom comes only through pursuing God's Spirit. The world's definition of freedom—doing whatever feels good—actually leads to slavery, as Jesus taught in John 8. In contrast, believers experience liberation through Christ's sacrifice, being crucified with Him and raised to walk in newness of life. This isn't just future freedom but abundant life today, with complete victory over sin through God's power. When believers stumble, they should fall forward toward Jesus, maintaining freedom by fixing their eyes on Him and eradicating sin completely. Unlike national independence that required tremendous sacrifice, the price for spiritual freedom has already been paid through Christ's blood. Pursuit without Partition

In our spiritual journey, we often create hidden chambers in our hearts—places we wall off from God and others. These partitions severely limit what God can do in our lives and prevent true healing and transformation. Pursuing God without partition means removing these self-imposed boundaries and allowing Him complete access to every part of who we are. These hidden chambers typically contain our deepest struggles: fear of rejection, bitterness, shame, pride, insecurity, and avoidance of pain. We're experts at disguising these walls with spiritual language—calling fear of rejection 'loving people well,' masking bitterness as 'healthy boundaries,' hiding shame behind 'healthy distance,' disguising pride as 'confidence,' covering insecurity with 'excellence,' and masking avoidance as 'strength.' God wants access to every part of our hearts because He can't fully heal what we won't fully surrender. As Ezekiel 36:25-26 promises, He wants to give us a new heart and spirit, but He needs our permission to break down these walls. The healing process might get messy, like a construction site that looks worse before it gets better. This is why community is essential—sometimes our healing is held up because we're trying to keep it just between us and God when He intends for us to walk through it with others. By acknowledging these partitioned areas to God, sharing them with trustworthy believers, and inviting God to do His demolition work, we open ourselves to the complete transformation He desires to bring.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence

    Pursuit in Praise

In our spiritual journey, we all have a God-shaped vacuum that only Jesus can fill. While the enemy tries to distract us with temporary pleasures, our souls cry out for God's presence. Understanding the distinction between worship and praise helps us engage more fully with God - worship being the lifestyle of surrendered service, while praise is the verbal or visible expression of that worship.Scripture reveals multiple dimensions of praise through Hebrew and Greek words that each carry unique spiritual significance. These include halal (wild celebration), yadah (extending hands in surrender), barak (reverent kneeling), zamar (musical praise), tehila (spontaneous song), shabach (victorious shouting), and todah (thanksgiving before fulfillment). The Greek expressions include aineo (verbal praise), epainos (praise through virtue), doxazo (glorifying God), and exomologeo (open declaration). Each expression serves a different purpose in our spiritual journey and creates space for God's presence in unique ways.Praise isn't about manipulating God but about creating space for His presence in our circumstances. When we praise, we declare God's sovereignty, prioritize His glory over our comfort, prophetically speak victory before it arrives, and align our hearts with Heaven's perspective. By incorporating different biblical expressions of praise into daily life, we can experience breakthrough as we invite God into our situations, regardless of whether our circumstances change.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence

    The Pursuit of His Presence

True worship is a transformative lifestyle that combines both physical posture and daily service, creating a pattern of devotion rather than isolated moments of praise. It begins with beholding Jesus and responding to seeing Him rightly, not with music or performance. The motivation behind worship matters deeply - authentic worship comes from loving God for who He is, not what He can provide.Authentic worship flows from a genuine relationship with God and His Word, disappearing into His glory rather than seeking attention. It manifests through both celebration and lifestyle choices, resulting in transformed character and genuine love for others. Key components include coming prepared through private devotion, focusing on Scripture rather than emotion, pursuing excellence without ego, and maintaining sensitivity to the Spirit's movement while staying unified with church leadership.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence

    Mirror, Mirror

God's grand design for humanity includes the profound purpose of bearing His image, particularly visible in the parent-child relationship. Children are naturally equipped with mirror neurons that enable them to learn, develop empathy, and regulate emotions through observation and imitation of their parents. This biological design underscores the spiritual truth that we are meant to reflect God's character in our daily lives. However, various distortions can cloud our ability to reflect God's image effectively. These include feelings of condemnation, shame, worthlessness, and depression. The solution lies in clearing these distortions through biblical truth and the renewing of our minds. By focusing on being rather than doing, parents can better mirror God's character to their children. This transformation process involves identifying negative self-talk, comparing distortions with Scripture's truth, and taking intentional steps to better reflect God's image to our families.

    We Get To!

Growing with intention requires a deliberate alignment of our actions with God's mission to make disciples of all nations. This mission continues today as we cultivate disciples who embody Jesus both within and beyond church walls. The parable of the Good Samaritan illustrates three typical responses to ministry opportunities: apathy (seeing but not acting), avoidance (turning away despite awareness), and assignment (taking purposeful action). The Samaritan's choice to interrupt his journey demonstrates the kind of intentional response God desires from us. Many approach ministry from a sense of obligation, but true service flows from seeing it as an opportunity - something we get to do rather than have to do. This perspective shift can transform our approach to serving others. To recognize our unique assignments, we must listen for the Holy Spirit's guidance, pay attention to what bothers us spiritually, and look for opportunities where we can make meaningful impact. Not everyone is called to every mission field, but everyone has a role in God's mission of redemption and restoration.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence

    Spiritually Falling Short

Living in spiritual health demands authenticity and integrity in all areas of life, characterized by consistency between private and public behavior. This includes telling the truth regardless of cost, honoring commitments, and maintaining quick repentance when falling short. The path to spiritual wellness requires regular heart examination and accountability within the Christian community. Two fundamental aspects of spiritual health are living according to truth and demonstrating genuine love. This means rejecting worldly pleasures, staying faithful to biblical teaching, and allowing the Holy Spirit's guidance while keeping oneself pure. Additionally, loving others as Christ loved us, overcoming bitterness, and praying for those who wrong us are essential components. Spiritual discernment plays a crucial role in recognizing false teachings and staying grounded in God's Word.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence

    Behold the Lamb of God

The profound connection between the ancient Passover and Jesus Christ's sacrifice reveals God's plan for salvation. During the first Passover, the Israelites were protected from death by applying lamb's blood to their doorposts, marking God's deliverance from Egyptian slavery. This historical event pointed to Jesus, who would become the ultimate Passover Lamb, offering protection not just from physical death, but from the bondage of sin.Just as the original Passover required an unblemished lamb's blood, salvation through Christ demands the perfect sacrifice that only Jesus could provide. This salvation goes beyond mere religious knowledge or ritual - it requires personal acceptance, genuine relationship, and complete transformation. True followers must commit fully to Christ, allowing His sacrifice to change them from within, leading to spiritual rebirth and a new life in Him.John 1:22-29🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence

    When Victory Walks In

The triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem marked the culmination of God's promise of victory that began in the Garden of Eden. This profound moment fulfilled the ancient prophecy given to Eve about a seed that would crush the serpent's head, representing hope for both spiritual and political liberation that the Jewish people had long awaited.Jesus's deliberate choice to enter Jerusalem on a donkey carried deep symbolic meaning, fulfilling prophecy and establishing His identity as the Prince of Peace rather than a military conqueror. The palm branches waved by the crowds held significance in both Roman and Jewish cultures, representing triumph, freedom, and restoration. The act of laying these branches down demonstrated submission to Jesus as the ultimate victor. This momentous entry during Passover was particularly significant as Jesus followed the same route as the Passover lamb, symbolizing His role as the final sacrifice. The event demonstrated that victory was already assured before the cross, establishing a powerful truth that continues to impact believers today - that in any challenge, victory is already secured through Christ.Acts 12:18-24🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence

    Seat Taken

The struggle between self-rule and God's sovereignty plays out daily in the hearts of believers. Many Christians fall into pattern of hobby Christianity, where church attendance becomes occasional and spiritual commitment remains inconsistent. This reveals a deeper issue of throne rights in our hearts, as statistics show even regular church attendees only participate once every three weeks on average. The biblical account of Herod in Acts 12 serves as a stark warning about the consequences of self-exaltation and usurping God's rightful place. Modern Christians face similar challenges through emotional decision-making, cultural pressures to rely on self, and the tendency to handle sin through human willpower. True Spirit-led living demands a different approach - one of continuous surrender and divine empowerment.Authentic Christian living manifests through consistent worship practices, allowing God's standards to guide decisions, and recognizing our dependence on Spirit empowerment rather than self-reliance. This transformation requires intentional daily surrender and a commitment to maintaining God's position on the throne of our hearts, regardless of circumstances or cultural pressures.Acts 12:18-24🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/TheShedatProvence📷 Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/theshed.church🎵 TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@theshed.church📺 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheShedatProvence
