EP. 55: Grace Dawson - Brand Consultant & Creative Coach
In this episode, I sat down with Grace Dawson and we got into what it really means to design your life on your own terms.Grace’s story is not the obvious one. She grew up between the UK and Wyoming, moving through completely different worlds, and that shaped how she sees everything. Not the perfect student. Not the cleanest path. But always led by curiosity and stories. We talk about her time in agency life at JKR, Bulletproof and Center, and where she’s at now, building her own path as a brand consultant and creative coach. We get into what it takes to make big decisions when nothing feels certain. How to turn fear into something that pushes you forward instead of holding you back. Why your story matters just as much as the work you put out, and how putting yourself out there can change everything. We also talk about teaching, mentoring and reflection, and how those moments can actually show you what you are here to do.If you are feeling stuck, questioning what is next, or just know deep down you are meant for more, this one will land.Stories from the heart that make mums proud.WDYMT to the world 🩷

EP. 54: Thomas Wilder - Reunion CCO & Founder. FMR: Wolff Olins, Collins & Sweetgreens
Most people think the goal is to keep moving up.Bigger titles. Bigger roles. More recognition. But what if that is not it?In this episode, I sat down with Thomas Wilder, CCO and Founder of Reunion, and we got into the long game. The patient one. The one no one really talks about. From growing up in rural New Hampshire to leading some of the world’s biggest brands, Thomas did not rush it. He followed curiosity. Focused on getting better. And over time, that turned into something real.We talk about the moments that shaped him. A push from a college professor that gave him belief early on. The years at Collins where things really clicked. Where design stopped being about style and started being about impact. But this conversation is not just about where he has been.It is about why he chose to start again. To build something of his own.To create Reunion. We get into what that actually takes. Letting go of ego. Trusting your instincts. Surrounding yourself with people who challenge you. Having the patience to grow into it properly. No shortcuts. No pretending. Just doing the work. This one felt honest.A reminder that you do not need to rush your way to the top to make something meaningful. If you are figuring things out, building something, or just trying to get better at what you do, this will hit.Stories from the heart that make mum proud 🩷WDYMT to the world.

Mad ting. For EP.53, I’m joined by someone who’s not just an incredible creative leader, but someone who’s genuinely shown up for me when it mattered most… Matt Sia.Whether he’s cooking up something in the kitchen, writing and performing music, making jewellery, or stepping out in his unmistakable swag…Matt is always building, shaping, creating. It’s just who he is.He’s led work across both challenger brands and global icons — from innovations like hum by Colgate and Tecate ALTA, to premium spirits with Diageo, Campari and Beam Suntory. He’s even partnered with McDonald’s to lead the global redesign of their food packaging. But this conversation isn’t about titles… it’s about how you lead, who you are, and what you stand for.We get into:• What it really means to lead with care (not the LinkedIn version… the real thing)• Feeling like an outsider in the industry and pushing through it• Imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and finding your place• Why there are no shortcuts in design or life• The moments where cutting corners costs you more than failing• How music, food, and culture shaped his creative mindset• The responsibility of shaping culture through designMatt opens up about not always seeing himself as “the strong designer”, and how persistence, curiosity, and staying true to himself unlocked everything. This one’s for the creatives, the quiet leaders, the ones figuring it out as they go… and anyone trying to build something meaningful without losing themselves in the process.Stories from the heart that make mums proud.Big love to everyone who pulled up and made this happen 🩷More live shows coming soon…

Sheps Chats: Embrace the cringe
Yes people, we back.Welcome to the WDYMT Podcast — Stories from the heart that make mums proud. In this episode of Sheps Chats, I’m talking about the journey so far. No guru advice, no “how to go viral”, no promises of millions of views.Just the honest story of how this podcast started and why I keep showing up every single week.Three years ago I started WDYMT in London when I felt uninspired and out of the right surroundings. I needed a change. I redesigned my settings, trusted my gut and kept building. Now I’m living and working in New York, speaking to people who inspire me and remind me that wanting more from life is actually a pretty common feeling among ambitious people. This episode is about:• Starting with nothing• Embracing the cringe• Ignoring the noise• Betting on yourself• Showing up for the one listenerI record an episode every week and release an episode every week. That’s the promise I made to myself and to the listeners. The setup is simple:A mic.A couple lights. Some headphones.Start small. Build as you go.If you’re sitting on an idea, stuck in your head or worrying what people might think… trust me, I’ve been there. But honestly? No one cares as much as you think they do.So just do the thing. If you enjoyed this episode drop a ❤️ in the comments and let me know what you think.WDYMT to the world.Stories from the heart that make mums proud.Safe.

EP. 50: Debbie Millman - The Long Road to Becoming Yourself & finding your way
This episode is a big one.Not only is it Episode 50 of WDYMT, but I’m joined by someone who helped shape the very idea of creative podcasting.Today I’m sitting down with Debbie Millman — designer, author, , illustrator, educator and the legendary host of Design Matters, one of the longest-running podcasts in the world. For over 20 years and over 500 episodes, Debbie has interviewed some of the most influential voices in creativity and culture — including Rick Rubin, Brené Brown, Milton Glaser, Simon Sinek, Questlove, Marina Abramović, Paula Scher, Jessica Walsh, Tim Ferriss and Neil deGrasse Tyson.Long before podcasting became what it is today, Debbie was already creating space for deep, thoughtful conversations about creativity, identity and the lives behind the work.In this conversation we go right back to the beginning.Debbie shares stories from growing up in Brooklyn, the moment she first understood the emotional power of brands, and the unexpected career path that eventually led her to become President of Sterling Brands. We also talk about the early days of Design Matters, recording interviews on a telephone line from the Empire State Building — years before podcasting exploded.Along the way we explore:• Why meaningful careers often take decades, not years• The courage it takes to change direction later in life• What Debbie has learned from interviewing hundreds of extraordinary people• The power of curiosity, resilience and storytelling• And what it really means to design your lifeThis episode is especially surreal for me — because WDYMT wouldn’t exist without Debbie and Design Matters.Massive love to Debbie for joining me for Episode 50.Sit back, enjoy.WDYMT TO THE WORLD 🌍🩷Stories from the heart that make mums proud.–What Does Your Mum Think (WDYMT) is a podcast for anyone out here trying to make their mum proud.Hosted by Sheps, designer, podcaster, martial arts practitioner and a lifelong believer that if your mum gets it, you’re doing something right. Each episode, Sheps sits down with inspiring people who are figuring it out in this mad world, talking to the humans behind the hustle, the passion and the journey.Stories from the heart that make mums proud.–Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/wdymt_official/TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@whatdoesyourmumthinkSpotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/4UQ1fAYGya2gOpUlyXSaPk

WE BACK! This week I’m joined by the very talented Mat Voyce.Mat’s journey started as a graphic designer, but what makes his story special is how he followed his curiosity. Just for the love of the craft. That curiosity turned into his signature style. Today, Mat is known around the world for his type design and type animation, working with some huge names including BBC, The LA Times, Disney+, Honda, Netflix and ESPN.In this episode we talk about backing yourself before anyone else does, the power of experimentation, and how personal work can open doors you never expected. EP. 48: Alex Center - Center founder & podcaster
Alex Center is the founder of CENTER, the Brooklyn-based studio behind brands like Bero, Butter, United Sodas of America, Ghostwriter, and more — building challenger brands that don’t just sit on shelves, but move culture. He also founded & hosts the 'Front & Center' podcast alongside Kevvvvvvvin. Overall, he's a real one. Before that, he spent over a decade inside the Coca-Cola system, working across Vitaminwater, Smartwater and Powerade, and was there as Vitaminwater grew from a small startup into a business that sold for $4.1 billion. Did he get a slice though? From interning at the New York Knicks, to becoming the first designer at Vitaminwater, to building his own studio in Brooklyn — his journey is all about backing your instinct, building strong culture, and leading with care.We talk about leadership, fitness and mindset, working with celebrities like 50 Cent, starting your own studio, and what it really takes to build brands that people don’t just see — but feel. And on a personal one — before I moved to New York, Alex gave me his time and showed proper love. Sheps Chats: My co-host broke my heart, I'm going solo!
This is an emotional one!For the first time, Sheps Chats is going solo.If you’ve been rocking with the pod from the early days, you’ll know it started as a two-person thing. And honestly, that chapter meant a lot to me. There’s love there, always will be. But life moves, people grow, paths change… and now it’s time for a new season, but no seasons just episodes. This episode is me being open about that shift. No drama, no bad energy. Just the truth.I talk about what it felt like when things changed. The doubts. The “can I actually do this on my own?” moments. And the decision to back myself anyway.Because this pod has always been about one thing… stories from the heart that make mums proud. And that mission doesn’t change. If anything, this next chapter feels bigger.Going solo.New guests.New conversations.Live shows.New sponsors.More real life. This episode is a reset. A line in the sand. A proper “we move” moment. If you’ve supported the pod so far, I appreciate you more than you know. And if you’re new here, welcome to the next chapter. LFG!We’re just getting started.Big love,Sheps

S05 E07: Chloé Templeman - Sometimes being you is enough
Back with another banger! In this episode, Sheps sits down with Chloé Templeman – Executive Creative Director at Pearlfisher. This one’s a special conversation. I sat down with Chloe to talk about the journey behind the title — the grit, the doubts, the pivots, and the moments that quietly shape who you become. We start right at the beginning — her early curiosity as a kid, always making, always questioning, always looking at the world a little differently. Her path into the industry wasn’t the neat, traditional route. It took determination, resilience, and a proper belief in herself when things weren’t always going her way. From finding her feet across different agencies to facing the tougher realities of the industry, Chloe shares the honest side of the journey — the setbacks, the pressure, and the moments where she had to dig deep and keep going. But at the heart of this conversation is something bigger. It’s about owning the room.Backing yourself.Learning that the thing that makes you different is actually your strength. We talk about confidence, career moves, knowing when it’s time to grow, and having the courage to step into new challenges — even when it feels uncomfortable. The conversation also gets into transformation and reinvention — what it really takes to lead through uncertainty, to stay authentic in senior leadership, and to help a creative business reconnect with who it truly is.There’s an honest look at the turbulence our industry’s facing right now too — and what it means to navigate change without losing your voice along the way. This episode is about resilience.About remembering who you are.And about building a career that feels true to you — not just impressive on paper.
