Have you heard yourself say "I'm a people pleaser" or know people who are? It's time to stop. Relationships are about creating harmony and collaboration. People pleasers allow their own values and beliefs to get overlooked while attempting to make others happy. Likewise, if people pleasing comes from the desire to be liked, then people are not getting to know the real you anyway. -- Check out more episodes: #8 — Say What You Need #10 — Stop Saying "I'm Sorry" So Much #14 — Effective Team Communication #15 — You Need a Mentor or Mentee #22 — 4 Steps of Boundary Setting      Connect with Nicole: Watch the episodes on YouTube  Follow Nicole on Instagram  Nicole's TikTok  Sign up for Nicole’s newsletter      Disclaimer: The Own It Podcast and content posted by Nicole Hollar is presented solely for general informational, educational, and entertainment purposes. Stop Saying "I'm Sorry" So Much [ #10 #Sorry #SelfEsteem #Communication ]

When you say "I'm sorry" too much it robs you of your self-esteem and gives your unconscious mind the belief that you are often at fault. "I'm sorry" implies some form of transgression. So, why are you sorry because someone made an observation about you or because someone had a loss? Do you keep apologizing for the same behavior but don't make effort to correct it? If so, it is empty anyway. In this episode learn how overusing that phrase affects your personal perception and those of others, and what you can do to change your language, and better connect with people, too. -- Check out more episodes: #8 — Say What You Need #11 — It's Time to Stop People Pleasing #14 — Effective Team Communication #15 — You Need a Mentor or Mentee #22 — 4 Steps of Boundary Setting      Connect with Nicole: Watch the episodes on YouTube  Follow Nicole on Instagram  Nicole's TikTok  Sign up for Nicole’s newsletter      Disclaimer: The Own It Podcast and content posted by Nicole Hollar is presented solely for general informational, educational, and entertainment purposes. Say What You Need [ #8 #SpeakUp #SayWhatYouFeel #UseYourVoice ]

Learning to say what you need rather than being bitter you didn't is so much better. Pro-you is not anti-them, so it is important to learn that and how to communicate it. Living in a state of "I feel bad" helps no one. -- Check out more episodes: #10 — Stop Saying "I'm Sorry" So Much #11 — It's Time to Stop People Pleasing #14 — Effective Team Communication #15 — You Need a Mentor or Mentee #22 — 4 Steps of Boundary Setting      Connect with Nicole: Watch the episodes on YouTube  Follow Nicole on Instagram  Nicole's TikTok  Sign up for Nicole’s newsletter      Disclaimer: The Own It Podcast and content posted by Nicole Hollar is presented solely for general informational, educational, and entertainment purposes. When Sadness Looks Like Anger [ #7 #Anger #Anxiety #Attachment ]

Have you ever known someone who lashes out a lot, pushes buttons, is overly critical, and sometimes downright mean? If you do, there is a good change that those behaviors are a form of protection, rather than an indicator that they are not a good person at heart. It does mean you need to condone the behaviors, however. Unfortunately, the behaviors generally hurt the person who lashes out and the people closest to them, plus, it severs connection, leaving the person in the place they unconsciously fear most - alone.  --  Check out more episodes: #6 — Why We Chase Happiness Instead of Being Happy #9 — Let Go of Envy #12 — Focus On What You Support #16 — The "Card" You Hide Behind Is Holding You Back #17 — The Scar Experiment — How Our Insecurities Shape Our World #27 — The Science of Generational Trauma   Connect with Nicole: Watch the episodes on YouTube  Follow Nicole on Instagram  Nicole's TikTok  Sign up for Nicole’s newsletter      Disclaimer: The Own It Podcast and content posted by Nicole Hollar is presented solely for general informational, educational, and entertainment purposes. Why We Chase Happiness Instead of Being Happy [ #6 #Happiness #InnerPeace ]

Have you ever had a good retail therapy day? It's so common it has a name. There is nothing wrong with having a moment of purchased joy. We do it with food, too. But do you find yourself chasing happiness? Like nothing you do or buy fills that space for very long. I've seen this conflict with couples where one person wants to have a bunch of things to feel happy while the other doesn't care about the stuff, they just want to be happy. It often causes disagreements because HOW they feel joy is misaligned. In this episode I will explain how to find inner peace and joy from the inside rather than trying to create it with things. It is called the Path of Mastery.  -- Check out more episodes: #7 — When Sadness Looks Like Anger #9 — Let Go of Envy #12 — Focus On What You Support #16 — The "Card" You Hide Behind Is Holding You Back #17 — The Scar Experiment — How Our Insecurities Shape Our World #27 — The Science of Generational Trauma     Connect with Nicole: Watch the episodes on YouTube  Follow Nicole on Instagram  Nicole's TikTok  Sign up for Nicole’s newsletter      Disclaimer: The Own It Podcast and content posted by Nicole Hollar is presented solely for general informational, educational, and entertainment purposes.
