    Sofie Debaere: topsport in Vlaanderen

    Sofie Debaere, de nieuwe Algemeen Directeur van Atletiek VlaanderenSofie werkte 13 jaar binnen de afdeling Topsportwerking van Sport Vlaanderen. Volgende maand start ze als Algemeen Directeur bij Atletiek Vlaanderen.  Ze is een ex-atlete en behaalde zilver op het Belgisch Kampioenschap verspringen, na een bekende atlete, Tia Hellebaut genoemd.     Duncan Boogaard: combat sports performance specialist

    In this episode we talked with Duncan Boogaard, a master in performance training for martial arts athletes. He started as a personal trainer and business owner in Amsterdam.     Marcel Abanoz: end-stage rehab at SV Werder Bremen

    Marcel Abanoz studied at the famous Deutsche Sporthochschule in Koln. Afterwards he started as a assistant coach and athletic development coach in Bonner SC. After that he worked 5 years for FC Köln and now he is almost 7 years active for SV Werder bremen. We talked with Marcel about these topics: - structure of physical, medical, technical department for the first team of SV Werder Bremen- good relationship with rehabing players- letting players constructing own goals into rehabing process- implementing cognitive games in rehab- microdosing strength workouts for the gym-rat football players- physical milestones in different stages of rehab- full week of an end-stage rehab at Werder Bremen- most common injuries during season- coaches' health

    Dean Martin: a football nomad

    We had a podcast with Dean Martin. Dean Martin is a physical coach in Iceland. He's a former English player, who even played some games for the First Team of West Ham United. Some time later, he went to Iceland and played for 2 teams, both teams even played European. He went back to Engeland and after some time in China and Ireland, he returned to Iceland for a coaching degree and career. In Iceland, he coached for the National youth teams, until he was asked for the assistant role for the Chinese women team.     Martin Buchheit: using technology in a smart manner

    Tom Mertens: als kinesist voor verschillende federaties

    Tom Mertens is een Belgische kinesist, met heel wat ervaring in de medische staff van voetbalclubs (KV Turnhout, Nationale Ploeg van Gambia), de bobslee- en skeletonsport, voor het Nationale Hockeyteam (14 jaar) en meer recentelijk voor de Vlaamse Schaatsunie. Hij is tevens eigenaar van sportkinesistenpraktijk, Kineworks in Turnhout. Tom is dus een drukbezette kinesist. We spraken met hem, over:- combineren van verschillende sporten/ploegen als kinesist: 14landen in 3 maanden en +40.000 vliegkilometers- opofferingen van buitenlandse stages - als kinesist op de Olympische Spelen- groeiverhaal van de Nationale Hockeyploeg:     * elke Olympiade een stapje hoger     * elke coach voor elk verhaal      * groei in faciliteiten: van houten chalet naar modern complex    * de strafcorner in hockey - onderbetaling in het voetbal- de motivatie binnen een revalidatieverhaal: geef korte termijn perspectief aan atleten die revalideren

    Olivier Meul: getting the most out of every rehab

    Olivier Meul is a Belgian physical therapist, who has worked with Beerschot for 3 years, SK Lierse for 3 years and 1 year in KV Kortrijk. He had also short working passages in Beijing and in Egypt (1ste league). Now he’s working for the National Futsal Team.     Mélanie Pauli: what you need to know when you coach female athletes.

    Mélanie is head of athletics for the women soccer team of the Swiss national team. Here were the topics we discussed: - difference in approach between coaching female or male players- menstrual cycle: difference in reactions of playersdifference in performance in different phases of the cycle'the cycle as a free monitoring tool'injury risk in different phases of the cycleinflammation during end of luteal phaseadjusting prehab exercises per phasestill a taboo for some athletes- nutrition intake in female athletes- application for tracking the cycle

    Ali Altajir: measuring readiness and adjusting accordingly

    Ali Altajir is a strength and conditioning coach of the first team of basketball team Al-Ahli SportsClub In Bahrein. Besides that, he is a sport scientist for the Bahrain Olympic Committee. We discussed these topics:- job in the Bahrain Olympic Committee- working with basketball players- using an objective (RSI) and subjective (sRPE) load measurement during the season- adjusting training program, depending on readiness of players- challenges of working in the Middle East - differences of working with other athletes: handball, shooting athletes, etc- communication skills as a coach

    Mohammad Dajani: player specific profiling

    In this episode we talk with the physical coach of the first team of Ajax FC, Mohammad Dajani.     Jan Seiler is the strength training expert at the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport at Magglingen. We talk with him about: - velocity-based training: which device and what is important? - strength as a injury preventive tool - heavy eccentric training: loading up to 65% extra eccentric load with a professional shot putter- use of eccentric training without 'special' equipment- weightlifting training

    Jimmy Högberg: integrated physical training: doing things little, but often

    We talked with Jimmy Högberg, working for the professional Swedish League.Association. - certification of professional Swedish academies- challenge of Swedish football field in -19°C- use of fitness app in training- Integration of fitness: weekly plan: recovery phase, high load phase and game phase: integrate Triphasic model and 3D model in the plan- use of eccentric training in different phases of the week - integration of physical training for youth players - rewarm-up during halftime in a game

    Raymond Meyer: als fysiotherapeut voor het Nederlands Efltal

    We spraken met Raymond Meyer, al 19 jaar fysiotherapeut bij de KNVB (Koninklijke Nederlands Voetbalbond), over:- de structuur binnen de KNVB- planning voor een internationale wedstrijd- communicatie met de clubs- evaluatie van een hersenschudding op het veld- aanpak van een voorste kruisbandletsel- gebruik van het cognitieve (brain training) in de revalidatie- begeleiding van andere sporters- veranderingen binnen het werkveld van de fysiotherapie

    Sebastien Christe: Get knowledge and invest in certifications

    Sebastien Christe is a Swiss physical coach. He studied his master in sports science at the University of Lausanne. He's been coaching for 5 years now and is working with professional football players, basketbal players of the Swiss first devision, professional mma fighters and professional race drivers.  We discussed a lot of interesting topics in our talk with Sebastien Christe: - both courses of Bram Swinnen- implementation of brain training with race drivers- blood flow restriction study- Sebastien's use of eccentric overload- designing his own training centre- strength and conditioning for wintersport athletes- capoeira: movement quality in sports

    Hans Van Alphen: van Olympisch atleet tot personal trainer / kinesist

    Hans Van Alphen is onze beste Belgische tienkamper ooit. Hij is vooral gekend door zijn 4de plaats op de Olympische Spelen van Londen in 2012. Hij heeft tijdens de beginjaren van zijn sport altijd atletiek gecombineerd met studie, namelijk kinesitherapie.
