Send us Fan Mail Episode #82 is LIVE — Metabolic Wellbeing Without the BSThis one hits differently. In a powerful and deeply honest conversation with Chetan Trivedi, we unpack what real change looks like — not the filtered, quick-fix version… but the disciplined, uncomfortable, life-changing kind.It all started with a single photograph.A moment that forced a hard truth:“I barely recognised the person staring back at me.”Tired. Unhealthy. Older than expected.Prediabetic. Six tablets a day.And then came the decision:“Enough. The change starts today… not tomorrow.”🚨 Here’s the reality we explore in this episode:There are no shortcuts to metabolic health. No miracle injections. No overnight transformations. But there is something far more powerful:➡️ Your body’s ability to respond when you finally give it the right inputs.💥 In this episode, we dive into:• Why sleep is the #1 foundation of wellbeing (and why most people ignore it)• The power of protein in reshaping body composition and metabolism• The hidden cost of long hours, workplace environments, and daily temptations• What happens when your body changes… and suddenly your wardrobe doesn’t fit (in the best way possible — without medication)• The ripple effect of change on family, identity, and leadership at home• Why being a “work in progress” is the most powerful example you can set⚡ The results? In just 11 months:• 13kg lost• Blood markers back to healthy ranges• Metabolic age reduced by 10 years• ZERO medicationsNo hacks. No shortcuts.Just consistency, discipline, and ownership.🔑 The six habits that changed everything:Sleep. Protein. Hydration. Strength. Walking. Self-prioritisation.Simple? Yes.Easy? Not even close. But worth it? Absolutely.👊 If you're in your 40s, 50s, or beyond… this episode is your reminder:It is NOT too late.Your body is more capable than you think.🎧 Listen now and ask yourself the only question that matters:Are you giving your health a real chance… or still waiting for the “right time”?Support the showMetabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is more than a podcast—it’s a growing global movement. Daily choices impact Risks

Send us Fan MailEpisode #81 of Metabolic Wellbeing without the BS is one that really stays with you.In this powerful conversation, we sit down with Martina Meyer zu Selhausen—a former corporate banker whose life took a profound turn after facing autoimmune neuro-degeneration.Raised in Germany and building a successful career in the UK’s corporate banking world, Martina’s story initially follows a familiar path of ambition and achievement. But beneath that trajectory came a pivotal realisation: What are we truly investing in—and at what cost to our health? That question sparked a complete shift. From finance to functional health, Martina pursued an MSc in Functional Medicine and Personalised Nutrition (CNELM), driven not just by curiosity—but by necessity. Her recovery journey led her deep into the science of brain health, including advanced research into lithium and its relationship with Alzheimer’s disease.Today, she channels that knowledge into her work through Viatitude Health, where she is developing innovative, data-driven tools to support brain health—particularly for women navigating peri- and post-menopause, and in the age group 35 plusWhat makes this episode so compelling isn’t just Martina’s expertise—it’s the questions it raises for all of us: What daily risks are we taking with our health, often unknowingly?  Are we prioritising the right “investments” in our lives?  And how much control do we actually have over our long-term brain health? Martina’s message is both sobering and empowering: The risk of Alzheimer’s disease can be significantly reduced through the choices we make every single day. This episode is insightful, thought-provoking, and deeply human. If you care about your health—or the health of those around you—this is a conversation worth your time.🎧 Listen now to Episode #81 of Metabolic Wellbeing without the BS on your favourite podcast platform.Support the showMetabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is more than a podcast—it’s a growing global movement. Type 1 diabetes reframed, refreshed and optimism

Send us Fan Mail Episode 79 – Metabolic Wellbeing Without the BSIn this episode, I’m joined by Jane MacDonald to discuss the realities of living with Type 1 Diabetes and why the conversation around its management may need to evolve.Jane has lived with Type 1 diabetes for over 26 years, having been diagnosed during her first pregnancy. With a scientific background as an audiologist and a strong family history of the condition, she followed conventional medical and dietary guidance for many years in pursuit of stable blood glucose control.Seven years ago she discovered the work of Richard K. Bernstein and his “Law of Small Numbers” approach. By focusing on nutritional changes and smaller carbohydrate loads, Jane has since achieved blood glucose levels in the non-diabetic range while using around half the insulin she previously required. In this conversation we explore: • What Type 1 diabetes actually is • Why nutrition plays a critical role in blood glucose control • The many factors that impact insulin levels • Why greater awareness and patient-centred care may be needed in diabetes managementJane’s story is a powerful reminder that lived experience, evidence, and informed choice all have an important role in improving metabolic wellbeing.Support the showMetabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is more than a podcast—it’s a growing global movement. Brain health and mental health cannot be separated

Send us Fan MailNew Episode: Metabolic Wellbeing Without the BS – Episode 78What if the conversation about mental health has been missing a crucial piece? In Episode 78 of Metabolic Wellbeing Without the BS, I’m joined by Dr Tracey Evans in part 2, or a fascinating discussion that reframes how we think about brain health across the entire lifespan. One of the most powerful takeaways from this conversation is simple but often overlooked:Brain health and mental health cannot be separated — yet they are often discussed individually. In this episode we explore the idea of neuro-lifespan — the understanding that the foundations of brain health begin far earlier than most people realise. In fact, they begin in utero, influenced by maternal health, the environment, and even the metabolic health of sperm before conception. From there, the discussion widens into the realities of modern life and the pressures placed on our brains today. We explore: 🧠 How the structure and function of the brain shape emotional and cognitive wellbeing ⚡ The fuel your brain actually needs to perform and regulate itself 🌍 The modern environmental pressures challenging brain health daily 🔄 Why reconnection and nervous system regulation are essential for long-term resilience 📉 How chronic stress gradually reshapes our biology when recovery is absent 🎯 Why personal accountability and self-agency matter when it comes to brain wellbeingTracey shares insights from her NeuroBalance Triad framework, developed after recognising how many high-performing individuals operate in cycles of intense output followed by burnout. As she explains, the nervous system adapts to chronic stress when our load capacity is exceeded and recovery never truly happens. While this adaptation is natural, the biological and psychological consequences of long-term stress can be profound. This episode is not about quick fixes or wellness trends. It’s about understanding the architecture of the brain, the demands of modern life, and how we can reclaim agency over our cognitive and emotional health.Because the real question is this:Are we truly living… or simply surviving in a permanently activated nervous system?🎧 Episode 78 is now live.If you’re interested in brain health, metabolic health, nervous system regulation, and the future of human performance, this is one conversation worth listening to.👉 Listen now and join the conversation.Support the showMetabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is more than a podcast—it’s a growing global movement. If Alzheimer’s Is Type 3 Diabetes, Why Are We Ignoring Insulin?

Send us Fan MailIf Alzheimer’s Is Type 3 Diabetes, Why Are We Ignoring Insulin?Episode 77 of Metabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is not just another conversation. It’s a wake-up call. This week, I’m joined by Dr Sarah Stephens, an Australian medical doctor with a PhD in mitochondrial biochemistry, and over 15 years of clinical experience challenging how we think about cognitive decline. We explore a question that should concern every leader, parent, policymaker, and professional:What if Alzheimer’s is not simply “bad luck” — but a metabolic condition?Often described as “type 3 diabetes of the brain,” Alzheimer’s reframes the narrative. Instead of inevitability, we discuss preventability. Instead of decline, possibility.Sarah now dedicates her work to helping people take proactive steps to support brain health — with the aim of preventing and even reversing early Alzheimer’s disease. Her approach incorporates the Bredesen Protocol — the only treatment shown in published clinical trials to improve outcomes in Alzheimer’s disease.Let that sink in.This is not about managing symptoms. This is about addressing root causes — mitochondrial dysfunction, insulin resistance, inflammation, environmental load, sleep, and nutrient deficiencies. In leadership, we speak often about legacy. But what is legacy without cognition? What is success without memory? What is performance without metabolic resilience? The uncomfortable truth is this: The same metabolic dysfunction driving corporate burnout, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease is also impairing our brains. And yet — we rarely connect the dots.In this episode, Sarah shares:Why mitochondrial health is central to cognitive performanceThe early warning signs most clinicians missPractical, preventative strategies anyone can begin implementingWhy medical school focus on avoiding death not preventionWhy motivated individuals can meaningfully influence their cognitive trajectoryHer work is grounded in science but powered by agency.Outside of medicine, she finds balance at the beach, crocheting, and competing in track cycling, a mum, partner, and a reminder that vibrant health is multidimensional. If we are serious about leadership in business, in healthcare, in family we must move from reactive medicine to preventative strategy.Brain health is not a future problem. It is today’s responsibility.🎙️ Listen to Episode 77 of Metabolic Wellbeing Without the BS on your favourite audio Support the showMetabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is more than a podcast—it’s a growing global movement. High Functional masking and more

Send us Fan MailEpisode #76 | Metabolic Wellbeing without the BSThis week, I’m joined by Dr Tracey Evans, and this is a conversation that cuts through a lot of the noise around mental health.🧠 Brain health and mental health are not separate. Yet we talk about them as if they are.Tracey works at the intersection of neuroscience, stress physiology, and lived experience—helping people optimise the structural and functional health of their brain alongside emotional and mental wellbeing. The result? People who move beyond survival mode and start truly engaging with life again—personally and professionally. After reaching her own crisis point following cycles of high performance and burnout, Tracey recognised a pattern many of us know too well: 👉 coping 👉 pushing 👉 functioning …but not really living. From this, she developed the NeuroBalance Triad™—a practical framework that translates complex neuroscience into something actionable, restoring self-agency and encouraging early intervention before the stress response system takes over.We unpack why chronic stress isn’t a personal failure. The nervous system adapts when load exceeds capacity and recovery is missing. That adaptation is natural—but left unchecked, it has real biological and psychological consequences. If you want more agency over your brain and mental health—and fewer platitudes—this episode is for you.🎧 Listen now 📌 Follow Dr Tracey Evans 📩 Reach out if personalised, evidence-based mentoring resonatesNo BS. From Law to Breathwork and Beyond

Send us Fan MailAlicia SnijdersFeaturing Alicia Snijders – From Law to Breathwork and BeyondAlicia Snijders is a former corporate lawyer who spent a decade in the legal profession before shifting paths entirely. In 2020, her world was shattered when she was raped. At 33, she believed she had life figured out, thriving in Sydney - only to have everything she knew about herself and the world upended. The aftermath was filled with darkness - self-doubt, isolation and a struggle to find her place. Despite her legal background, Alicia found herself navigating systems meant to support survivors that instead failed her - society's silence around sexual violence, a workplace culture that did little to foster healing and a justice system that routinely lets survivors down. These systems, designed to protect, instead deepened the struggle. The Power of Breathwork and Metabolic WellbeingTherapy was a crucial part of Alicia’s journey, but it was breathwork that truly helped her recalibrate her nervous system and reconnect with herself. Through conscious connected breathing, she discovered a way to heal beyond traditional methods. This didn’t happen overnight - it required time, effort and a shift in mindset. Alicia learned that real recovery meant detaching from toxic environments, finding a new community and embracing a holistic approach to wellbeing. Rest, nourishment and aligning with her true purpose became the foundation of her new life.Today, Alicia is a holistic health coach and breathwork facilitator, working with individuals to shift out of survival mode and reconnect with themselves, and with organisations to foster human-centered, wellness-focused workplaces. She uses breath, evidence-based tools and a grounded, compassionate approach to help people manage stress, regulate their nervous systems and find resilience in the face of adversity. Her story is not just one of survival, but of using trauma as a catalyst for change.🎧 Tune in to hear an honest conversation about healing, agency and what it means to return to yourself, one breath at a time.🔗 Listen now on all major podcast channelsIf you're curious about breathwork or want to bring wellness practices into your workplace, connect with Alicia to learn more.Support the showMetabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is more than a podcast—it’s a growing global movement. From Lawyer to Health Coach: A Journey of Resilience, Transformation & Advocacy

Send us Fan MailCeinwen LloydHaving spent 25 years as a lawyer, I decided to make the change to become a health coach in 2023. Having been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 10, I have struggled with the impact of long-term health issues, and understand the difficulties people face when coping with ill-health. I suffered kidney failure in 2011, and was fortunate to have a kidney and pancreas transplant. I was able to return to work and fulfil many of my career and life ambitions, but became disenchanted with the legal process, and realised that the stressful environment was having an impact on my own physical and mental health and those around me, so began to investigate how I could make a change to create a better and healthier life for myself and others. What I learned led me down a path of discovery into health and behavioural change coaching. I am undergoing studies to qualify as a Registered Health Coach, and also as a Registered Nutritionist. With my background I want to help effect change at a national level, and am working with the UKIHCA, the profession’s regulatory body, to gain more standing in government, and to ensure that the profession has the voice it deserves to refocus on the prevention of ill-health rather than the cure.Support the showMetabolic Wellbeing Without the BS is more than a podcast—it’s a growing global movement. The Psychology of Metabolic Wellbeing

Send us Fan MailJanet FrankI left a career as a psychologist for sales. It was true that I left to pursue a lifelong curiosity about business and marketing. What I didn't emphasize is that I was symptomatic from Hashimoto's (an autoimmune thyroid disorder) and an undiagnosed gluten intolerance, and it was difficult to sustain the work. I took a 14-year detour, working with amazing mentors in sales and sales coaching. I also used that time to learn to manage my health and thrive. When I learned that health coaching had emerged as a profession, I made the decision that day to pursue certification. 60% of people in the US have a chronic disease, and we are getting heavier and sicker by the day. Physicians do not have time to spend with patients on lifestyle and habit change - those take time. Health coaching can as broad as what wellness means to you. Functional medicine (I am functionally trained) looks at the root causes of disease and at the entire person, and that includes diet and lifestyle. I have evolved into niches of emotional eating and work-life balance, but am happy to work with you around any aspect of your wellness. I have part-time employment which I really enjoy, and I maintain a small private practice. I invite you to contact me for a complimentary 30-minute consultation at [email protected] to see if health coaching is right for you (I offer group and 1:1 coaching). You're welcome to review my website at www.janetfrankcoaching.com and subscribe for updated articles. Your Smile, Your Health

Send us Fan MailSarah Hancock, PhDDr Sarah Hancock is a research analyst at the University of Adelaide in the School of Public Health.  She completed her PhD in her native New Zealand in public health nutrition: her research focused on the role of nutrition in oral health and general health, measuring nutrition knowledge for health in New Zealand families and health professionals, and understanding multiple barriers at individual and societal levels families with children experience in trying to "eat well".  A particular area of interest for Sarah are the barriers health professionals experience in providing dietary advice. Sarah is a thought leader in advancing the role of nutrition for the prevention of poor oral health; she terms dental caries or tooth decay as the earliest manifestation of the effects of a poor quality diet on metabolic health. She is an advocate for dietary lifestyles that minimise the intake of highly refined, ultra-processed foods for the prevention of poor oral health and chronic diet-related disease that are culturally appropriate and sustainable for population health. Alongside her research work, Sarah is currently training to be a registered health coach at the Holistic Performance Institute, a world-leading provider of training in health coaching, sports nutrition and clinical nutrition practice.Twitter/X:@sjhancocknzPublications by Sarah in oral healthhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33156952/ (a systematic review on starch-sugar foods and dental caries burdens)https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32027640/ (a commentary piece on the disconnects between the evidence on dietary associations and caries and obesity, and dietary guideline recommendations for children and young people)https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35889941/ (formative study assessing the nutrition knowledge of foods for oral health in children and adults)Presentation at Low Carb down under: Dr. Sarah Hancock - 'Oral Health and LCHF nutrition' (youtube.com)As a metabolic wellbeing coach and leader, I specialize in helping individuals and organizations prioritize health.
