Ep 50 - The Habit We Mistook for Ourselves - Identity, Thought and the Illusory Self
Fifty episodes of looking directly at experience - with an open mind and curiosity - to see what’s actually here. All episodes have been pointing at the same thing: that beneath the relentless thinking, the worry, the roles we carry and the pressure to get everything right - something was always quietly fine. And once you see that, the project of managing, fixing and improving yourself starts to look a little different. In this milestone episode I go deep into identity - what it actually is, why it feels so solid, and what’s here when we stop mistaking it for the truth of who we are. Not as a philosophical concept, but as something you can feel right now, if you’re willing to look.If you’re holding everything together for aging parents, your kids and your work - and wondering why it feels so heavy - this one’s for you. The roles, the labels, the capable one, the one who sorts things out - we mistake that habit of thought for who we are. And then spend years managing, fixing and improving something that was never quite as solid as it felt! This episode looks at how the wellness industry has pointed us in the wrong direction, what neuroscience and physics tell us about the apparent solidity of the self, and what’s quietly here when the mental management falls away. You don’t need to shift your identity. You just need to see that it was never fixed in the first place.🎙️ New here? Ep 49 - The Point of Now - Why Presence is our Greatest Superpower
Most of us spend a surprising amount of life on autopilot - replaying the past, predicting the future, missing the moment we’re actually in. In this episode, I walk through the POINT model in full: my approach to presence, awareness, and mental clarity that sits at the heart of my work and my book, The Point of Now.This isn’t mindfulness as a technique, or another set of tools to add to your already-full life. It’s a recognition that now is the only place life actually happens - and that genuine presence doesn’t have to be effortful or elusive.Whether you’re new here or have been following for a while, this episode gives you a clear, unhurried look at what The Point™ actually is and how it works - no jargon or performance, just a quiet and direct conversation about what it means to be here.If you’ve found mindfulness hard to practise, spiritual content increasingly hard to trust, or simply want something grounded and real - this one’s for you.📧 Email me directly here: [email protected]📕 Buy my book, ‘The Point of Now’, here:https://amzn.eu/d/5fyskTl🔻The episode cover art shows the point visual, which this episode speaks through.

Episode 48 - Every Moment Is Unknown and Unique - The Hidden Simplicity Beneath Everything Else
Neuroscience is fascinating - neuroplasticity, epigenetics, how the body holds patterns. Multi-day retreats and deep processing work can transform lives. But what if there’s something simpler beneath it all? This episode explores why presence isn’t something you achieve after processing everything - it’s available right now through direct recognition. The past exists only in this moment’s thinking. Mental busyness keeps patterns alive by rehearsing and re-performing them. The shift happens when you notice: “Am I here, or am I in my head in thoughts and imagination?”For clients who’ve done all the practices but can’t live what they know - this simple recognition is usually what’s missing.Every moment is genuinely unknown and unique. The Point is noticing that, rather than trying to make it safe through mental time-travelling.The Point of now is the smallest moment but the greatest doorway - and it’s always open.Next episode: Why discernment is your greatest superpower - how to recognise the difference between direct experience and the story your mind adds.Contact me by email here: [email protected]

Episode 47 - Beyond Tough Leadership - What Actually Helps in High-Pressure Moments
I still forget and catch myself closing - contracting around a situation rather than meeting it with presence. The Point isn’t something I’ve mastered, it’s something I keep returning to.In this episode I share how The Point shows up in the middle of real life: the pressure to be consistent with this podcast, chaotic school run mornings with two teenage boys, and what actually helps when someone’s already stressed and gets shouted at for being late.I also look at the suggestion that kindness makes you a weak leader - and why I think that misses something fundamental. Real kindness isn’t softness or people-pleasing. From presence, you can be kind and direct, kind and let someone go, kind and say no. It’s not a strategy. It’s what naturally comes when you’re not operating from self-protection, or the need to be seen a certain way - when you’re simply responding to what’s actually here. The challenges don’t disappear. But how we meet them changes everything.🎙️ New to The Point? Episode 46 - The AI Opportunity - Seeing What’s Here When We’re Free
In this episode of The Spirit of Enquiry, I explore AI - not from a “good or bad” perspective, but as an invitation to notice how we meet uncertainty itself.Like many people, I’ve felt a subtle sense of concern about AI - particularly around work, jobs, and the pace of change. But as I noticed my own moment of contraction and threat-based thinking, I realised this is the same human pattern that shows up whenever we encounter something uncertain or thats seems uncontrollable. This episode is an exploration of what becomes available when we slow down, open, and step out of fear-based mental management - and how AI may actually be pointing us back to what is uniquely human.Rather than trying to outthink or compete with machines, I invite you to consider what AI can’t do: be present, feel connection, access inner intelligence, and respond wisely in the moment. We look at how fear narrows perspective, how the mind’s “operating system” goes into autopilot, and why continuous optimisation has diminishing returns - both individually and collectively. This conversation isn’t about bypassing real concerns or pretending change isn’t happening. It’s about staying open and curious in the face of disruption, and recognising that fear and tension are signals - not the whole truth.AI may be advancing regardless, but how we meet that change makes all the difference. In this episode, we explore: • Why AI often triggers fear and threat-based thinking • What happens when the mind contracts around uncertainty • The “spotlight of attention” and the operating system of the mind • Why mental management can’t solve everything • AI as a possible invitation away from over-optimisation • The difference between the map and the territory • What remains irreplaceable about being human • How presence, curiosity, and openness create wiser responses • Why fear and stress are information, not the whole truthIf you’d like to explore this work more deeply, my book The Point of Now expands on these ideas, and how we meet uncertainty without being limited by fear. And if you have questions or reflections, I’d love to hear from you - you’re welcome to reach out and continue the conversation:📩 Email me directly at: [email protected]

Episode 45 - The Truth About The Words You Use (And Why They Don’t Mean What You Think) - A Pre-Christmas Invitation
In this episode, we explore the paradox of language - how the words you speak to yourself (and others) create real physical changes in the body, and yet how they also don’t have inherent meaning.Discover:- Harvard Medical School research showing how self-talk reduces inflammation and changes your nervous system- Why the placebo effect proves words can be more powerful than drugs- The difference between positive affirmations (another technique to try) and recognition (noticing what’s actually here)- How “should” language creates stress and pressure- A practical invitation for the holiday season: notice the expectations you’re carrying about ChristmasThe invitation isn’t to control your self-talk - it’s to notice it, feel its effect, and return to present moment awareness. To allow what is rather than fight it with words. Your body hears everything your mind says.Perfect for anyone struggling with inner criticism, holiday stress, anxiety, overwhelm, or looking to understand the mind-body connection, nervous system regulation, and presence.Wishing you presence, ease and joy this Christmas (and in each moment!)Thanks for listening. Episode 44 - Traffic Lights for the Mind - Navigating Overwhelm with this Simple Metaphor
In this episode, I share a simple but powerful metaphor from Chapter 11 of my book - Traffic Lights for the Mind.We all know traffic lights. We see them every day, and they can become your reminder to drop out of mental overwhelm and back into present moment awareness. The three lights as a practical navigation system:- Red Light (STOP)- Recognising when you’re caught in the speeding mind- Yellow Light (WAIT)- The pause where conscious, mindful moments become possible- Green Light (GO)- Operating from the quieter, clearer space of present moment awarenessWhen you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed during your day, the traffic lights offer an immediate way back to what’s actually here right now. Not another technique to master, but a simple visual reminder that’s already everywhere around you. This isn’t about controlling your thoughts or forcing yourself to be calm. It’s about recognising what’s happening and allowing your system to naturally downshift from reactive mode to responsive presence.Your real excellence doesn’t live in multitasking or managing everything at once - it lives in the full presence you bring to whatever’s right in front of you. When you operate from present moment awareness rather than scattered thinking, you naturally access clarity, better decisions, and more effective action.Let traffic lights be your reminder this week. When you’re at a red light (physically or mentally) feeling rushed or tense, notice that’s your cue - pause, breathe, and feel into what’s here in this precise moment.Life is just this one breath, one step at a time. Let’s slow down to now.If you enjoy this episode, please let me know, or share it with someone who might benefit from listening. If you leave a review it really helps the show be shown to others too. Episode 33 - Leading Without Trying - the hidden power of a strong presence with Kate Adey
We often think of leadership as a title, but what if it’s simply the way we meet each moment? Whether we’re at work, with family, or just navigating life, we are always leading with our ‘come from.’ Everyone is leading in some way, whether they recognise it or not. Leadership isn’t just for CEOs or parents; it’s how we show up in every interaction. Our state of mind shapes how we influence others. When we’re caught in fear or insecurity, we transmit that. When we’re clear, we inspire clarity in others.Today, my guest Kate Adey and I explore leadership from clarity - how it shows up naturally when we’re not caught in personal thinking. This conversation helps us to have more ease in any interaction, so it goes beyond leadership in the traditional sense - it’s for everyone. You can contact Kate here (website & assessment call links): https://www.kateadey.co.uk/https://www.kateadey.co.uk/chaos-to-clarity/ I hope you enjoy this conversation, as always, I’d love to hearyour feedback:Email me at [email protected] can follow me on LinkedIn here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/suzie-yeulett

In this short, solo episode I talk about consciousness and manifestation and how I see these right now. The developments in quantum physics help us to understand consciousness more than ever before. We talk about: how innate health and wellbeing is our natural state; always available when we slow down and get curious in the moment How there’s nothing missing or to do, it’s more about understanding or seeing something new and how everything is unknown and out of our control (and why this subtractive approach is so freeing and helpful.) Giles writes a “Daily Reminders” newsletter, that points people back to their innate health, which you can sign up to via his website here: https://gilespcroft.com/newsletter I hope you enjoy this episode. Please get in touch to let me know - I love to hear feedback, or to receive questions or enquiries if you hear something that resonates or sounds interesting. Piers Thurston joined me this week on the podcast to talk about the value of the ‘Quality of Mind’ understanding in business. This can offer transformative benefits in life and business. You can see more about Piers and the Quality of Mind understanding at: https://qualityofmind.my.canva.site/intro-2-pages

Episode 8 - The Simple Power of Noticing
Life reveals itself to us, moment by moment. And yet, we think we need to help the process or even drive it. If every moment is a fresh and new reveal, we can ‘let go’ of the driving and steering. I explore this and how it’s helpful to simply notice, or be more mindful, in the moment.

Episode 7 - Flowing with Life
Water doesn’t resist, it flows. Life is fluid in the same way. We are part of this flow of life, but we don’t always consider this. When we allow life to flow freely, allowing each moment of reality to be as it is, we mentally suffer less. Listen in to hear how this is the case and hopefully you’ll feel some freedom or lightness.

Episode 6 - Being ok with the unknown
Being ok with the unknown is beneficial and healthy. Since ANYTHING can happen next, the unknown could be seen as exciting and full of potential (rather than as uncomfortable or scary.) Our awareness and mental attention is the differentiator and this is what I talk about in this episode.

Episode 5 - Mind the Gap
Awareness of our emotional regulation, in the moment, is so helpful and healthy in life. If we pause, or become mindful of the tiny gap between a circumstance and our reaction, we can respond more mindfully, rather than react in an automatic instant. This is healthy, expansive and allows for better connections with others.

Episode 4 - Trusting the design of life
In exploring life more deeply, eventually something can loosen and we can become more open and trusting of life and our design. Join me as I share some things to consider and examples to play with. I point to how we can take life, and ourselves, less seriously, which is freeing and helpful in any eventuality.

Episode 3 - Mental Health & Well-Being is Innate
What if you’re not broken and don’t need fixing? If we explore and become more aware of our deeper nature, we can see that mental health and well-being is our natural state, before the habitual, personal mind obscures this.

Episode 2 - The Power of Thought
Thought is invisible, so we don’t always appreciate the power of thought. It’s helpful to explore this, since it can be misunderstood and misused. Better awareness and understanding of how thought creates our experience can help you to have a better lived experience, moment to moment!
