Career Changes & Letting Go of Control

In this episode of Genuine Girl, I chat about a recent career change I've made and the larger lessons that have come with it - namely, the tendency to have a need for control and the importance of letting go for positive changes to transpire. From trying to control others' perceptions through people pleasing to trying to control the direction of my career path, I dive into the different types of control that were actually more harmful than helpful on this journey. I also share what actually helped me find peace in whatever outcome transpired. Hopefully it inspires you if there is any kind of change you are thinking about making or if you feel stuck on your own journey. The Contradiction Crisis: Doing It All While Feeling It All

In this episode, I’m talking about something I’ve recently come to call The Contradiction Crisis: the tension between being high-functioning and highly feeling. I open up about what it’s been like to appear “put together” while managing deeper challenges, and how hard it can be to hold both ambition and emotion at the same time. This is the most vulnerable I’ve ever gotten on the podcast, but I hope it reminds you that you’re not alone if you’re feeling mentally drained and still showing up every day. You don’t have to choose between being successful and being human.

What Buying a House Has Taught Me (so far)

What a hectic few months it has been! If you can't tell by the title, I have gone through quite the life change lately - transitioning into homeownership and learning a lot about myself along the way. In this episode, I'll share the impetus for my decision to buy a house and some of the reflections I've had since doing so (both the tactical and philosphical ones.)Ultimately, I hope this episode can help you feel more empowered to act from your intuition rather than from external validation - whether in a decision as tangible as choosing where to live or in the day-to-day decisions that make up your life. Feeling Guilty for Feeling Tired

If your automatic response to “how are you?” is also some variation of “tired,” and if you feel the constant need to change that, validate that, or just feel like it's wrong in some way... then this episode is for you.In this episode, I’m diving into why exhaustion is so much deeper than just being busy. It’s not just about what we do; it’s about how much we think about everything we do. I’m breaking down why overthinkers, high achievers, and people who care a lot about how they show up in the world are constantly running on empty, even when it can easily look like nothing is wrong. But most importantly, I want to put out a little PSA that you do not need to justify being tired. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for your exhaustion, and you don’t need to prove why you’re feeling this way--take my stories & experiences as example. So if you’ve ever felt like rest is harder than just pushing through, or if you’ve found yourself trying to explain why you’re tired instead of just being tired, have a listen.Follow Genuine Girl:Website: www.genuinegirl.coInstagram: www.instagram.com/genuinegirlcoDon't forget to rate 5 stars and leave a review if you enjoyed! Silent Strength: Staying True to Yourself in a Loud World

Silent strength: a quiet confidence that comes from within and that doesn't rely on external validation to make decisions or fuel your worth. It serves as a far more durable foundation than living in external validation ever will; yet so many of us struggle to build this skill when we live in such a loud world that pushes us to prove ourselves. In this episode, I am getting vulnerable about not only why silent strength is a key element of my identity, but also why it has been so difficult for me to cultivate. I share tips and tricks that have helped my find quiet confidence as I navigate different areas of my life in hopes of helping you find that same inner resilience in your own challenges.Follow Genuine Girl:Website: www.genuinegirl.coInstagram: www.instagram.com/genuinegirlcoDon't forget to rate 5 stars and leave a review if you enjoyed! How a Solo Trip Can Help You Reconnect with Yourself

This week's episode is something I've never done before. Not only did I record the pod while on a solo trip, outside on a beach, but I decided to talk all about the power of solo trips - a topic I've surprisingly never dug into! I personally live for a good solo adventure - whether that means simply getting out of the house to try something new or going on an entire vacation alone - but I've realized that not everyone feels the same way, largely because they've never tried to travel alone or just don't know the benefits of spending quality time alone in a physically different environment. In this episode, I'll share a bit about my "why" behind solo travel, what I've learned from my past solo travel experiences (i.e., what NOT to do,) and most importantly, how solo trips have given me the time and space to truly tap into the power of "silent strength": an intuitive, self-reflective concept I've been exploring greatly recently and want to share with you! Finally, I'll share all my best tips and tricks for you to start your own solo travel journey - from planning your trip to cultivating your mindset. Hopefully you can leave feeling empowered to spend some more quality time for yourself in a different place! If you feel like something is "wrong" with you or something doesn't feel quite right, you're not alone - but how do you take the step from stressing about it to actually doing something about it? In this episode, I'm sharing my tips to take charge of your health, from reframing the mindset you use around your symptoms (i.e., NOT saying something is "wrong" with you) to finding the right doctors, treatment plans, and more. I definitely haven't figured it all out, but hopefully this episode helps you continue to reframe your health and take the right steps toward getting the answers you deserve. You Know Yourself Best: Living a Values-Based Life

Welcome back! This episode is a lot, so buckle up. Lately, I've realized the importance of making decisions that align with my values rather than other people's. Whether we like it or not, many of us get so accustomed to living life on other people's terms, which can make identifying our own values difficult. In this episode, I share a few experiences that have forced me to reflect on what's really important - AND, more importantly, provide some exercises that have helped me identify my values so that you can feel supported in identifying your own. Identifying your values is a challenge in itself, and then there's the task of actually living them out, so I empathize if you are struggling... same. That said, I hope this episode can empower you to spend just a little more time finding yourself and living in accordance to what you value most. Instagram Is Not Reality: Reminders We All Need

I am constantly amazed by how much of our worth we all place into a social media platform. From spending hours agonizing over our posts to spending hours scrolling and feeling bad about ourselves, it seems to be a never-ending cycle. In this episode, I chat through some of the trends I've seen Instagram users making more recently, but also share my thoughts around how the platform remains a breeding ground for comparison, negativity, and lack of self-worth. Most importantly, though, I want this episode to inspire us all to get a little more intentional about how much power we give Instagram in our lives. Hopefully, we can all walk away ready to make Instagram what we want and find our own internal validation rather than seeking external validation through social media. The Girlie's Guide to Conquering Your Fears & Getting in the Gym

Are you a girl? Cool. Want to go to the gym but feel intimidated or overwhelmed, specifically by doing things that are often male-dominated and difficult (i.e. strength training)? You found the right episode - today, I'm breaking down the barriers that keep women out of the gym and giving some tangible tips to help you find your confidence and get in there! I used to be really scared to go to the gym and would stay on the treadmill ONLY. Weights? No. Machines? No. Anything other than hiding behind a 50-year-old treadmill that barely works and feels like misery? No. And honestly, the fears I had around trying anything new at the gym were real - and I know many other women share them. In this episode, I talk through some of these fears: namely, the fear of not knowing what you're doing, being judged, and... men. One day I finally let my desire to challenge myself surpass my discomfort and went to the weight room in my college gym. From there, it was history. Taking up more space in the gym by lifting weights has transformed my mental and physical health in ways that make all the discomfort and fears worth it. Feelings That Are "Normal" but Not "Normalized"

Today's episode is a continuation of my previous episode diving into the quarter life crisis concept. I don't know about you, but going through this type of crisis (or just life in general) can bring up a lot of feelings that are not talked about and/or accepted by society - leaving us in even more of a crisis than where we started. This episode is an honest conversation about some of the feelings/concepts that have made me feel guilty or insecure over the past several months, but I truly believe from my conversations and observations that these feelings are "normal"; they simply aren't "normalized." While I don't have all the answers, I hope that this episode is at the very least a reminder that you aren't alone if you are experiencing any of these feelings. And if it resonates, I hope you feel empowered to normalize your experiences & those of people you care about. It only takes one person to make a change! Exploring the Concept of the "Quarter Life Crisis"

I don't know about you, but my entire social media feed has been filled with some serious, some not-so-serious references to the "quarter life crisis" (specifically, how everyone is coping with it by either getting married or running marathons.) Today, I want to dive deeper into this concept by sharing some of the research that I have uncovered regarding 1) WHAT this crisis entails 2) HOW to know if you are experiencing it 3) WHY our generation in particular is experiencing this so heavily and finally, a discussion about how people are coping with it and whether these coping mechanisms are "healthy" (this is up for debate...) While I certainly don't have all the answers, I hope this episode at least gives you something to think about, and more than anything can help you feel less alone if you feel that you are experiencing a quarter life crisis right now. Accept the Challenge of Celebrating Yourself

I know firsthand how difficult it can be to be proud of ourselves for our accomplishments, for all the work we're in the process of completing, and for who we are as people. Yet, lately I've also been recognizing the importance of carving out time for celebrations - both big and small - to actually enjoy everything we're going through! In this episode, I chat through my challenges with taking time to celebrate my accomplishments & my tendencies to be a toxic workaholic that have resulted in me feeling unhappy in what I have and always wondering "what's next?" I'll also share a few strategies that have helped me get out of that unfortunate mindset, so if you're struggling too, hopefully you can leave this episode knowing you're not alone and have some tangible strategies to get through it!

My Running Journey (If I Can Do It, So Can You)

Welcome back to another episode! This one has been planned for a long time, but I thought it would be extra special to record it as my marathon approaches this weekend. I truly have hated running for most of my life (and still do sometimes,) so the thought of running a marathon was completely out of the picture for a long time. In this episode, I go into detail on how my relationship with running & cardio in general has changed and ultimately led me to this very out-of-character decision of mine. I also spend a good portion of the episode touching on some of the tips, tricks, and life hacks that have made running a bit more bearable for me - so if you're looking for tips on your own journey, I gotchu! Selective Focus: You Can't Do It All

Welcome to another mental health focused episode! This one is all about the hard lesson that, unfortunately, we can’t improve every aspect of our life or our health at once. I’ve had to learn this hard lesson by sacrificing my mental health for various areas of my life that I think I can improve all at the same time… that has never worked out too well. In this episode, you’ll get to hear some of my vulnerable experiences trying (and failing) to improve in every area - and how I’ve grown to accept where I’m at in some pieces of my life while actively working on improving others. As something that has been such a large part of my life for so many years, I figured it was about time that I dedicate an episode to the topic - but with a focus on what benefits you might be able to find from the practice if you decide to partake. :) Overall, it's just for fun - don't put pressure on yourself to be a "yogi" or follow any particular schedule, intensity, etc. Just take it for what it is & the benefits it provides whenever you want! If you enjoyed, feel free to leave a rating & review - it helps out a lot! Also feel free to follow the Instagram @genuinegainz.

    What Even IS Work-Life Balance?

Yes, we are going there today: existential crisis mode has been activated. I've been feeling a little bit ~unbalanced~ lately, but that feeling has actually been a blessing in disguise as it has allowed me to reflect on what work-life balance actually looks like in my life. Not to spoil the surprise, but I've found that (for me) work-life balance is just as much of what I THINK about work as it is what I DO at work. Hopefully this episode can help you brainstorm ways to get yourself in the right headspace whenever you suffer from lack of work-life balance. :) For more mental & physical health resources: www.genuinegainz.com Follow me on Instagram: www.instagram.com/genuinegainz Don't forget to rate & review if you enjoyed (preferably 5 stars, but I accept all genuine opinions.)

STOP OVERTHINKING & Make Those Gainz

This is probably a message meant more for myself than anyone else, but if you also happen to struggle with overthinking any area of your life, I hope that this episode can be the wake-up call you need to take charge of your thoughts, make decisions based on intuition, & be in the present moment so that you can not only make effective gainz (in every area,) but also enjoy the process. Small Ways to Be There for Yourself Each Day

So, if you listened to my last episode, you know that life can sometimes feel like a lot (lol) BUT guess what! There are ways to be there for yourself no matter what you're going through, & today I'm sharing a few things that have helped me stay connected to myself no matter what is going on in my day-to-day. You may have heard some of these tips before, but whether you typically practice them or ignore them, I hope this can be a good reminder to take care of yourself if nothing else. My Mental Health ~Journey~

This is an episode that I have been nervous to record because it is definitely getting to another level of vulnerability that could potentially have negative consequences... lol... BUT, I am making this anyway because I genuinely want to spread awareness not only for mental health in general, but also for the specific impacts that it can have on our daily lives. It's so easy to think that someone has it all together on the outside, but it can feel lonely living a life that feels so opposite of that. By sharing my story, I hope you can see that you are not alone if you have struggled with anything mental health-related. We are in this together. :) Please reach out if I can support you in any way, and I mean that. Instagram: www.instagram.com/genuinegainz Email: [email protected]

If You Struggle with Discipline in Your Wellness Journey, Listen to This!

Today we are talking all things discipline! I am taking a bit of a different perspective on this concept than what you might find across social media; while I think having a healthy level of discipline is good, I also think that many of us feel pressured to constantly be doing more, which just disrupts our discipline levels. So how do we get around these feelings? In this episode I'll dive into what I've used to REALLY understand my propensity toward discipline by sharing some signs of too little and too much discipline, and I'll provide a few tips to find that healthy balance that we're all looking for. Welcome back! Today's episode is a continuation of my "fitness mini-series," where I am sharing tips and tricks that have helped me in the ups and downs of working out over the years. Find a Workout Routine That Works for You: Choosing Exercises, Making a Plan, & More!

Welcome back to the podcast! I decided that I wanted to make a "fitness mini-series" going off last week's episode, which was dedicated to some learnings I wish I knew before starting my fitness journey. To keep that conversation going, this week's episode is all about finding a workout routine that works for you. I give some tips I've found to be helpful in selecting types of exercise, frequency, etc. when designing my workout plan, and hopefully my experience can inspire you to not make the same mistakes that I have! What I Wish I Knew Starting My Fitness Journey

Today's episode is my first episode dedicated to physical health! I'm excited to share more content like this on the podcast because I strongly believe that genuine gainz are best achieved through an integration of both physical & mental wellness. Listen in as I share a little more context behind my fitness journey & what I wish I knew when I started viewing it as such. Hustle Culture & Health: Can They Coexist?

This is the first "real" episode of the rebranded podcast, and I'm so excited for the topic - it aligns perfectly with the Genuine Gainz mission of helping you find wellness practices that feel true to you. "Hustle culture" is a popular term that has been making the rounds for a while, and there's this idea that getting too engulfed by it can prevent us from living a healthy, balanced lifestyle. I want to take a deep dive into the relationship between hustle culture and our health by first uncovering the societal definitions that both of these terms hold, and then thinking about how we can redefine how these concepts show up in our own life so that we can live a lifestyle that is truly healthy to us. Overall (spoiler): I think that the only way hustle culture & health can safely coexist is if we change the definitions these concepts hold in our mind, so that we're "hustling" for the things that feel true to us. Welcome to Genuine Gainz: The Rebranding Process & Embracing Pivots

I have officially launched my rebrand, Genuine Gainz! Don't worry, Genuine Girl is still at the core of everything I do & remains the name of my business, but I wanted the brand name to be more representative of the content I create. Mental health and self-development have always been the crux of my brand and podcast, and they will continue to be! However, I also wanted to add in my passion for physical health and wellness. Genuine Gainz encompasses both the physical & mental wellness realms and intends to encourage you to find wellness in ways that feel true to you. I explain a bit more in this quick episode, but to get an even greater glimpse into everything Genuine Gainz has to offer, check out the website: www.genuinegainz.com. Also, don't forget to follow me on Instagram! (@genuinegainz) If you enjoyed, please rate 5 stars & leave a review - it means the world and helps me reach more people.

My True Struggles with Vulnerability: Being Closed-Off, Oversharing Insecurities, Placing Unrealistic Expectations on Others...

Buckle up, this episode is a deep one. I dive right into my recent self-reflections on the topic of vulnerability and my (lack of) willingness to sometimes put myself out there and share who I really am with others. Hopefully this can help you think about your own vulnerability tendencies or can help someone you know who struggles! Instagram: instagram.com/_genuinegirl_ New website coming soon... The Beauty of Trying Things Just for Fun!

I've made plenty of episodes about getting out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself to things that feel uncomfortable, but today I want to place a different focus on that conversation: trying new things just for FUN! Discomfort and challenge may be inherent in trying things for the first time, but there is also a fun and rewarding mindset to be gained by taking low-stakes chances–like trying a new creative hobby or traveling somewhere you've never been. Today, I talk through several learnings I've had from all the new things I'm trying to incorporate in my life, and at the end of the episode I provide a list of ways you can start trying new things, too! Hope this helps you find the courage to do something you've never done. :) Follow me on Instagram: www.instagram.com/_genuinegirl_ Don't forget to leave a rating & review if you enjoyed!

People Pleasing: Why We Do It & How to Overcome It ft. Vicki

Today's episode is with my friend Vicki - we met in college and connected over our shared tendencies to overthink, people please, and just generally be anxious... BUT, we have come a long way since those times, and I thought there was no better way to reflect on what we've learned about staying true to ourselves than to make a podcast episode on the topic. Hope this helps you feel less alone if you share our struggles & that you can walk away with some tips to stay true to you rather than conforming to society. Genuine Girl is back! This week's episode features a friend from work, Adrianna! Adrianna shares some of the things she's learned in our first several months of working after college that have helped her find balance, navigate workplace conflicts, and find the work she enjoys. The Simple Mindset Shift That Has Helped Me Believe in Myself More

This week's episode is a quick glimpse into where my mind has been lately as I continue learning how to successfully "adult." I spend a lot of time on this podcast talking about things I've struggled with or things that haven't gone so well, but today's episode is a little different as I discuss a few things that have been going well lately - and more importantly, HOW I believe they've gone well. While my mindset may not have been the sole cause, I can confidently say that shifting my mindset has helped me be more successful because I'm training myself to believe in myself a little more each day. I hope this episode can inspire you to think about where your mindset is at and perhaps make some changes, because you deserve to believe in yourself, too. :) Follow me!
