Surrender is Not Giving Up: The Yoga of Trusting the Process without Shutting Down
There's a space most women know intimately but rarely talk about - the gap between where you are and where you want to be. It's uncomfortable in a quiet, persistent way. Often confusing and conflicting. Sometimes grief tinged. And filled with the urge to control, fix, shut down, gaslight or force your way through it. This episode is an invitation to try something different. Through the yogic concept of Ishvara Pranidhana - the practice of surrender and trust - we explore what it actually means to accept your reality without giving up on what you want or abandoning your feelings. This isn't about giving up or pretending you're fine, it's about learning to take hold of your life with open hands. To take wise, embodied action while releasing the white-knuckled grip on how it's al supposed to look. If you’ve been wrestling with trust, struggling to accept what is, or exhausted from holding others emotions while not tending to your own — this one is for you.🌿 Free Resources for Women Ready to Grow If you’re ready to step out of your head and back into your body, I made you a 10 minute guided somatic and restorative yoga practice:Get it here: https://kerimarino.eo.page/stuckinyourheadIf you're ready to enjoy meditation and soak in the benefits (even if you've felt unsuccessful in the past.) Why I Really Do This Work — My Story of Childhood Trauma, Sexual Abuse and Coming Home to My Body
I've never told this story publicly before now. In this episode, I'm sharing the real reason I became a somatic yoga therapist - not the professional biography version, but the actual lived truth. The childhood that was full of love and also full of trauma. The religious upbringing that taught me my body was a problem. The relationship at 14 that became two years of sexual and emotional abuse I couldn't name until a class gave me the words. The eating disorders, chronic pain, body image struggles and anxiety. And yoga - finding me at the height of suffering and showing me for the first time what it felt like to feel light, safe and at ease in my own skin. This episode is for everyone who's wanted my story over the years but hasn't known where to find it. For every woman who has been carrying something quietly for a long time. Who has done the therapy, the inner work, the journaling and still feels like they're living from the neck up...like something essential is just out of reach. Reminder, you are resilient AF, you were never broken, there is a roadmap forward and you are not alone. Done alot of Inner Work and Still Feel Stuck? Here's Why.
You’ve journaled about it.Talked about it in therapy. You understand your patterns…So why do you still feel stuck? In this episode, we’re talking about the gap so many self-aware women find themselves in — where you know what’s going on… but your body hasn’t caught up yet.Because healing doesn’t happen in your mind alone.Your body has to feel safe enough to actually process what’s there. If you’ve been stuck in overthinking, analyzing, or trying to “figure yourself out”… this will help you understand why — and what’s actually missing.—💜 If you’re ready to step out of your head and back into your body, I made you a short guided restorative yoga practice:Get it here: https://kerimarino.eo.page/stuckinyourhead🌿 More Free Resources for Women Ready to GrowGood at Meditation and Restorative Yoga GuideFor self-aware women who feel like you’re bad at meditation and are ready to feel successful. Why Yoga Makes You Cry; Here’s Why That’s Good
Ever cried or had a surprising emotional release during yoga and wondered what just happened? In this episode, we get into the why (the science and the subtle) of these common tender moments, trace it back to something powerful and name part of what makes yoga so healing. If you're on a journey know yourself more, grow, heal and expand you might find answers here to why emotions rise, tears flow and ease settles in every time you roll out your mat. This episode was a direct response to a question I've been asked too many times to count over the years. Why You Keep Overthinking Your Emotions (and How to Actually Process Them)
Have you ever journaled for hours, talked it out with your therapist, listened to every podcast episode about healing — and still felt stuck? If you're a woman who lives deeply in her mind, constantly analyzing her emotions instead of actually feeling them, this episode is for you. In today's conversation, we're diving into the pattern of over-intellectualizing emotion — what it looks like, why so many of us default to it, and why all the self-awareness in the world won't set you free if it stays in your head.Through the lens of devotional somatic yoga for women and nervous system healing, we'll explore how to gently move out of analysis mode and back into your body — where real transformation lives. Whether you're new to gentle and restorative yoga and inner work or you've been on this path for a while, this episode will give you practical, embodied tools to start feeling, expressing, and releasing what you've been carrying. This is the heart of what we do here at The Nourished Woman — and it just might be the permission slip you didn't know you needed.- - - 🌿 Start Here - Free Resources for Women Ready to GrowTurn off Your Brain, Lay Down and Rest with MeFor self-aware women who are stuck in your head and ready to feel grounded & at home in your body. Perimenopause, Self-Love, and Yoga Practice with Kat Smith
Perimenopause doesn’t just shift your hormones — it often shifts the questions you’re willing to ask about your life. In this episode, I sit down with yoga teacher, Enneagram teacher, and TEDx speaker Kat Smith for an honest conversation about midlife, motherhood, and the moment many women realize they’ve been holding everything together while quietly running on empty. We talk about self-trust, desire, and how yoga and nervous system practices can support women through the emotional and physical changes of perimenopause. If Meditation and Restorative Yoga Feels Hard. Let's talk.
If you’ve been waiting for meditation, breathwork, or restorative yoga to “finally feel easy”… this is your loving reality check.Learning to be still is a skill. And like any new skill — playing guitar, lifting weights, having hard conversations — it’s awkward at first. Your mind will wander. Your body will fidget. You will feel anything but enlightened and likely come up against anxiety at some point. That doesn’t mean you’re bad at meditation or restorative yoga. It means you’re building capacity. In this episode, we talk about why high-functioning women especially struggle with stillness — and why that’s not a flaw, it’s a training ground. We move beyond the fantasy of instant calm and into what actually creates embodied confidence and nervous system resilience: repetition, honesty, and small, devotional reps. If you’re ready to stop waiting for calm to magically descend and start practicing your way into steadiness, this conversation will give you both the gentle nudge and the grounded truth you need.Want to get better at meditation and restorative yoga?Get My -> Good at Meditation and Restorative Yoga Guide For self-aware women who feel like you’re bad at meditation and are ready to feel successful. From Mold Illness to Healing: Taking Ownership of Your Health with Katie Poterala
If you’ve ever felt dismissed by doctors, exhausted from trying “all the things,” or wondered why your body still feels off even though your labs look “normal,” this episode is for you. I’m sitting down with Katie Poterala, a bespoke jeweler turned Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, to unpack her journey through mold illness, medical gaslighting, and the long road back to alignment. Katie’s story is raw, honest, and incredibly relatable — because it mirrors what so many women experience when their intuition tells them something’s wrong, but the system doesn’t listen. We talk about how hidden mold exposure can silently impact your energy, thyroid, and mood — and what it actually takes to heal. From functional testing and safer detox protocols to the role of nervous system regulation, yoga, and somatic practices in recovery, Katie shares how she learned to rebuild trust with her body and design a life that finally feels good again. Whether you’re navigating mystery symptoms, burnout, or simply craving a deeper connection with your health, this episode will remind you that healing isn’t about doing more — it’s about learning how to listen, slow down, and take ownership of your body’s wisdom.About Katie PoteralaKatie is a bespoke jeweler turned Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Practitioner whose journey into wellness began during a season of deep personal healing. After becoming unexpectedly ill while caring for a new baby and running a business, she struggled to find clear answers through conventional medicine. That experience led her to functional medicine, where she learned to understand her body and eventually support other women in uncovering the root causes of their symptoms. At heart, Katie’s work has always been about helping women feel like themselves again and reclaim their inner sparkle. Learn more about Katie on her website or Instagram. How Better Breathing Can Transform Your Sleep, Mood, And Relationships with Perrin White
What if the way you breathe is quietly shaping your energy, sleep, and emotional resilience? In this conversation with Perrin White — speech-language pathologist, myofunctional therapist, and breath coach — we explore the power of functional breathing in the most down-to-earth, human way. From tongue posture and nasal breathing to how your ribs move when you inhale, Perrin shares how small, anatomy-based shifts can completely change how you feel in your body. You’ll learn how to tell if your tongue is truly resting on the roof of your mouth, why nasal breathing is key for oxygen and nitric oxide, and how to bring ease back into your breath (and your nervous system). We also go deeper — into grief, child loss, thriving as a single woman and becoming. Perrin opens up about how breath helped her move through loss and reconnect to life, and we talk about what it means to rebuild yourself one ritual at a time. You’ll hear us challenge the loud, forceful breath cues often taught in yoga and explore gentler, low-and-slow patterns that create calm from the inside out. This is a grounded, heartfelt reset for anyone craving more energy, better sleep, and a steadier sense of peace.About Perrin White Perrin White is a speech pathologist, myologist, yoga teacher, and breath coach who specializes in airway health and nervous system regulation. When the World Is on Fire, Does Yoga Even Matter?
In a world that feels increasingly heavy, it's easy to wonder if your yoga practice, your inner work, your quiet moments of healing — actually matter. Is rolling out your mat enough when everything around you feels like it's burning? This episode is Keri's love letter to every woman asking that question. Here at The Nourished Woman, we believe that the work you do on your mat and within yourself — the shadow work, the nervous system tending, the devotional practice of coming home to your body — sends ripples out far beyond what you can see or measure. When a woman heals, something shifts in every room she walks into, every relationship she holds, every generation that comes after her. Your practice is not an escape from the world. It is your contribution to it. From Body Shame to Sacred Home
Most women come to their healing carrying something they've never been asked to set down — a deep, chronic dissatisfaction with their own body. Not because something is wrong with them, but because they've been swimming in a culture that profits from their self-doubt. Beauty standards, diet culture, and centuries of puritanical messaging have taught women to treat their bodies as problems to be solved rather than homes to be cherished. In this episode, Keri traces the full arc — from where so many women begin (disconnected, ashamed, at war with their own reflection) to where they arrive after doing the deep somatic yoga therapy and inner work together. We'll unpack the real roots of body shame, why willpower and positive affirmations alone will never get you there, and what it actually looks like to stop treating your body as a project and start relating to her as the sacred, wise, living temple she has always been. If you've spent years trying to fix yourself into worthiness, this episode is your permission to finally come home. 🌿 Start Here - Free Resources for Women Ready to GrowEmbodied Confidence GuideFor self-aware women who still feel insecure at times and want to trust yourself more. Your Intuition Can't Compete With Your Notifications
When's the last time you sat in silence — on purpose, without reaching for your phone? For most of us, stillness has become genuinely uncomfortable. We fill every spare moment with podcasts, scrolling, noise — anything to avoid the quiet. But what if that quiet is exactly where your answers live?In this episode, we're getting honest about the habit of constant input and what it's actually costing you — your intuition, your self-connection, and access to the deepest parts of yourself. Through the lens of somatic yoga therapy and devotional inner work, we'll explore why silence feels so hard, what that discomfort is really telling you, and how to begin reclaiming small moments of stillness as a sacred practice. This is for the woman who knows she needs to slow down but keeps finding reasons not to. Your inner voice is still there — she's just waiting for some space.🌿 Start Here - Free Resources for Women Ready to GrowEmbodied Confidence GuideFor self-aware women who still feel insecure at times and want to trust yourself more. Yoga Isn't Just Bendy People in Cute Pants with Liz Delaney
What happens when we approach yoga not as a workout, but as medicine? In this soul-nourishing conversation with Liz Delaney, owner of Greenville Yoga and coach for women in transition, we explore how traditional yoga practices offer a powerful counterbalance to our culture's obsession with speed, perfection, and visible results.Liz shares how her 20-year journey as a studio owner began with a commitment to create a space where everyone belongs—where accessibility trumps Instagram-worthy poses, and embodiment takes precedence over performance. "I always like everything to feel accessible," she explains, "maybe a little challenge, but just a little beyond your comfort zone." This philosophy has created a thriving community where healing happens through being witnessed, breathing together, and connecting authentically. The conversation takes a fascinating turn as we discuss how our yoga practices often initially reinforce our existing patterns rather than disrupting them. For perfectionists, yoga becomes another arena for perfectionism; for those who can't slow down, it becomes another way to stay busy. The true transformation begins when we recognize these patterns and allow our practice to become "an interruption" to our programming—a wake-up call that invites us to explore differently and find genuine pleasure in our bodies.Perhaps most powerful is Liz's butterfly metaphor for navigating life transitions, based on Martha Beck's change cycle. Just as a caterpillar must cocoon, dissolve into "goo," and struggle to emerge with strong wings, we too need time to grieve, dream, and eventually rebuild after significant changes. "Sometimes we don't have all the information and we want to take the next right step, but sometimes the next step hasn't provided itself because it's not time yet."Whether you're a seasoned yogi or curious newcomer, this episode offers permission to slow down, embrace mystery, and find your own rhythm of growth and healing. As Liz reflects on her own evolving practice: "It's always kind of met me right where I am."Did this episode resonate with you? Stop Putting Yourself Last: Breaking Up with Martyrdom
What if the most radical act of love isn't putting yourself last, but first? Not from selfishness, but from the profound understanding that you cannot pour from an empty cup. Your nervous system, as a woman, sets the tone for everyone around you. When you operate from depletion, that depletion radiates outward. Mental Health, Trauma Recovery and Why a Body Based Approach is Essential
Mental health is conventionally addressed through mind-focused approaches, but this misses crucial aspects of wellbeing found in the body and spirit. Trauma becomes stored in our nervous system, creating patterns that affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors long after the original experience.• Every person experiences trauma—both "big T" traumas like major life events and "little t" traumas like childhood embarrassment• Trauma is anything too overwhelming for us to process in the moment• Panic attacks and anxiety are normal, natural trauma responses from the body• Body-based tools like sunshine exposure, cold compresses, and specific breathing practices can help regulate the nervous system• Mental health disruptions are often rooted in nervous system patterns, not just the mind• Yoga is a powerful somatic trauma recovery tool that creates space for body awareness and healing• Accessing the wisdom in your body can help re-pattern your nervous system🌿 Start Here - Free Resources for Women Ready to GrowEmbodied Confidence GuideFor self-aware women who still feel insecure at times and want to trust yourself more. The Power of Yoga to Help You Grow and Truly Heal
In this episode, Keri explores why true healing often requires more than working on isolated parts of ourselves. Many people approach growth by trying to fix their mindset, emotions, or habits separately, yet still feel disconnected or stuck. Keri shares how the deeper purpose of yoga—“yoking” or integrating body, mind, and spirit—offers a powerful path for holistic healing and personal transformation.Drawing from her experience as a Wome 's Empowerment Yoga Therapist, Keri explains how somatic yoga supports nervous system regulation, trauma healing, and emotional integration by working with the wisdom of the body. You’ll learn how both consistent yoga practice and targeted yogic tools can help you reconnect with yourself, process old patterns, and experience healing that touches every part of your life. This episode invites you to see yoga not just as exercise, but as a path toward wholeness, embodiment, and deeper self-trust.🌿 Start Here - Free Resources for Women Ready to GrowEmbodied Confidence GuideFor self-aware women who still feel insecure at times and want to trust yourself more.
