Floris Gierman, performance coach and author of Running Breakthroughs—shares a refreshing reminder: improvement in life and running doesn’t always come from pushing harder. Most runners think pushing harder leads to faster results — but constantly training at high intensity often leads to burnout, plateaus, and injury. Low heart rate training and Zone 2 running build aerobic endurance, improve recovery, and strengthen your heart without overwhelming your nervous system. When you slow down, stay consistent, and prioritize recovery, speed becomes the byproduct.
