Gastric Mindset
by Safi Abdi
This is my passion project where I hope we can navigate the ups and downs in recovering from food and body issues after WLS. Which will enable us to live a fulfilled life without the fear of regaining the weight or returning to unhelpful diet mentality. I hope to provide a safe environment to explore not what we are eating but rather ‘what's eating us’, by reviewing books and breaking down self-guided therapeutic resources so we can bridge the gap between our body and mind.

Winning 2 Crowns, Losing 100lbs, Surviving 6 Surgeries | Lizzie's Story"
In Bonus episode of The Radical Rebuild Podcast, formerly known as Gastric mindset, host Safi Abdi sits down with Lizzie the reigning Missy Bariatric, for a raw and inspiring conversation about weight loss surgery, mental health recovery, and the emotional journey that follows a major body transformation.Lizzie opens up about her experience with weight loss surgery and skin removal, sharing how these physical changes brought long-hidden emotional wounds to the surface. She talks honestly about navigating self-esteem struggles, childhood trauma, and the ongoing process of self-healing. Her story shows that surgery can be a catalyst for transformation, but true healing comes from doing the inner work.Beyond her personal journey, Lizzie discusses her dream of opening a dementia café, highlighting the power of community support and human connection. She also reflects on her unexpected path into the beauty pageant world, using her platform to empower others and challenge stigma. This episode is a beautiful blend of vulnerability, strength, and hope reminding us that we can rewrite our story, no matter where we started.Life is too short not to follow your dreams.Weight loss surgery is a tool, not a complete solution.Skin removal can bring physical relief but also emotional challenges.Self-healing requires facing deep-rooted trauma. You can transform your life regardless of your past.Self-belief and self-esteem grow through intentional practice.Community support can be more powerful than family support.Gratitude is a key driver for personal growth and happiness.Boundaries and self-care are essential for healing.Determination and support can help you achieve anything.

Food Craving Returned: Easy Tips to Stay on Track (and Ditch the Pouch Reset Nonsense!)

We'll also bust the myth of the "pouch reset" – it's just another short-lived fad diet with no real benefits. Finally, I'll share some personal strategies that helped me become more aware of my own food desires, distinguishing between head hunger, mouth hunger, and emotional hunger. Welcome to overcoming the diet mindset
