My Perimenopause Journey

My perimenopause showed up in my late 30s disguised as boreout, burnout, and eventually severe depression. For years, I searched for help—consulting countless doctors—until I realized that the ever-growing list of symptoms all pointed to perimenopause. Carefully tracking the symptoms and better understanding how they relate to my cycles was a game-changer. I share my journey through perimenopause, wishing for other women to transition through this life chapter with more ease, support, and confidence. Not everyone goes through perimenopause, but it does affect us all.

Your Doctor Says "You’re Fine" Or "You're Not In Perimenopause"—Here’s How to Know for Sure

In this episode, learn how to interpret your blood test results for estradiol, progesterone, DHEA, and testosterone. When I first took these tests, my OB-GYN reassured me, "They are fine!" but after describing the severe symptoms impacting my life, she agreed to prescribe a very low dose of HRT. Although some symptoms improved or disappeared, I noticed my body wasn't fully recovering, and my drive was fading. A follow-up test showed my testosterone levels had nearly dropped to zero. Comparing these results with those from six months earlier, I question how my gynecologist could confidently say, "You're fine." Join me as I review the blood panel, explain the recommended ranges, and share tips for more meaningful conversations with your healthcare provider.Subscribe for bi-weekly updates on My Perimenopause Journey. Perimenopause Profits: How Companies Cash In on Women’s Suffering—And How You Can Detect It

Finding a brochure titled "Perimenopause: What Every Woman Needs to Know" at my OB-GYN was a nice surprise, indicating increased awareness of this topic. Yet, after reading it, I am puzzled by how blatantly companies exploit women's health and suffering. There is abundant information on perimenopause, and many companies—from insurers to protein powder brands—are cashing in on this profitable market. While some products and treatments provide genuine relief, others just mask symptoms and can even worsen underlying conditions. Let me review this brochure and point out the information that was left out. Subscribe for bi-weekly updates on My Perimenopause Journey. From Curious to Furious: What I Discovered About Perimenopause And Women’s Health

In this episode, I intended to tease upcoming videos on misinformation by gynecologists and pharmaceutical companies, the importance of blood panels, how testosterone levels can crash during perimenopause—even though most sources say it doesn't—phytoestrogens, their benefits and drawbacks, DHEA, and the actual roles hormones play in our bodies. However, what was meant to be a teaser became a full episode. Do This Before You Hit Perimenopause: Why It's Crucial To Start Blood Panels in Your Mid-20s!

Navigating perimenopause can be exhausting, but having a doctor can make it easier. One effective way to engage your doctor is through blood tests. I wish I had comprehensive blood tests every five years starting in my mid-20s to understand what levels of estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, or DHEA are normal for me. Just like checking cholesterol, triglycerides, TSH, or hemoglobin, hormone levels are equally important. I believe this could have prevented me from experiencing a severe decline in both physical and mental health during perimenopause, which also led to significant career and financial setbacks. Confusing Testosterone Deficiency With Insulin Insensitivity In Perimenopause Can Harm Your Health

Concerned that recurring and worsening inflammation might be due to insulin resistance, I asked my doctor for a comprehensive blood panel. We also measured testosterone and estradiol levels. The estradiol results were good, indicating the supplementation was working. But testosterone told a different story: in six months, my already low levels had almost dropped to zero. No wonder my blood pressure has been climbing lately. I had previously discussed testosterone with my gynecologist and wasn’t prepared for how difficult it would be to get testosterone supplementation. I hope sharing my experience helps make your perimenopause journey easier.Subscribe for bi-weekly updates on My Perimenopause Journey. How Estrogen and Progesterone Help Control Inflammation & Inflammaging In Perimenopause And Beyond

During perimenopause, NF-κB activity is likely to increase. So, what exactly is NF-κB, and why does it matter? NF-κB is a key inflammatory trigger that can boost systemic inflammation. This can lead to brain fog, fatigue, depression, hot flashes, and raise the risk of conditions like osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, gut microbiota issues, and many more. Listen in to learn how estrogen can suppress NF-κB activity, how progesterone can put a brake on it, and what actions you can take regularly to help control this inflammatory trigger. Systematic Inflammation in Perimenopausal Women: The Impact of Hormonal Deficiency On Your Body

In my late 30s, perimenopause began, and suddenly I found myself a regular at various doctors. They told me: Change your job, you're too stressed, get therapy, here's a herbal remedy, you're bipolar, take lithium medication. You might not be surprised that none of that helped; instead, I was crashing deeper and deeper into crisis (not even mentioning financial loss). My body was on fire in a very bad way. In this video, I share findings from studies examining how our bodies react and struggle when there's not enough estrogen (and other hormones) in our systems. The perimenopausal transition triggers a systematic, proinflammatory state: Heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's... You name it.Subscribe for bi-weekly updates on My Perimenopause Journey. Surprise: How Antibacterial Eye Drops Can Help With Autoimmune Eye Inflammation During Perimenopause

Deep into perimenopause, I was plagued by recurring eye inflammation. Even after identifying various potential causes, preventing it remained difficult. Lifestyle changes offered some relief but were not enough. As a last resort, I used antibacterial eye drops. I didn't expect them to work since my inflammation was autoimmune, not bacterial. Surprisingly, they did help. I discovered that these drops not only kill bacteria (which I prefer to keep intact) but also reduce the body's inflammatory response by blocking certain reactions and the release of inflammatory factors. How Perimenopause Impacts Your Adrenal Glands: Managing Cortisol And Adrenaline To Improve Wellbeing

The adrenal glands produce adrenaline and cortisol. Interestingly, during perimenopause, they also continue to produce estrogen, even as ovarian production declines. Additionally, they generate testosterone, which can be converted into estrogen. Many women in this stage experience notable decreases in their ability to handle stress, with minor triggers sometimes causing significant reactions. This increased demand for cortisol and adrenaline isn't ideal, as it also affects the production levels of estrogen and testosterone. Subscribe for bi-weekly updates on My Perimenopause Journey. 13 Hidden Causes of Inflammation During Perimenopause (And How to Fight Back)

Exposure to wind, bacteria, viruses, or mascara can lead to eye inflammation. However, during perimenopause, inflammation can occur in many areas beyond the eyes. This is due to hormonal imbalances, such as fluctuating estrogen and progesterone, spikes in FSH or LH, or low androgen levels, which can all trigger inflammation. Other factors like insulin resistance, digestive problems, and newly developed food sensitivities may also play a role, and I have experienced all of them. Pruning the Root Cause: How Perimenopause Symptoms Are Treated Wrong (and What Women Really Need)

For a tree to stay healthy and heal properly, you need to cut a damaged branch (when needed) very close to the trunk. If you leave a big stump, water and ice can enter, and the tree may slowly rot from the inside out. This made me think about how women are treated and supported during perimenopause and menopause. We’re often told: reduce your stress, eat more protein, try this antidepressant, and so on. But very few people look deeper and search for the real, underlying cause of our symptoms. While many doctors likely mean well, it can still happen that—using the tree metaphor—they try to be kind and helpful, but end up cutting the “branch” too far away from the “trunk,” never reaching the core issue. As a result, your system doesn’t truly get the chance to heal from the inside out. Subscribe for bi-weekly updates on My Perimenopause Journey. Understanding Perimenopause Inflammation: How Diet & Insulin Resistance Impact Your Long-Term Health

However, those transitional years form the foundation of the second half of women's lives and affect everything from health and social circles to how we die. Why Perimenopausal Eye Inflammation Occurs Despite Normal Progesterone And Testosterone Levels

When bleeding in the eye lasts longer than in other areas during perimenopause, you know something's wrong. I have seen eye doctors, general doctors, gynecologists, and other specialists; none have offered solutions for my recurring eye inflammation. Having tried higher doses of progesterone, the results were unfortunately inconsistent. Tune in to learn which other factor might be causing this monthly chaos.Subscribe for bi-weekly updates on My Perimenopause Journey. ABOUT THIS SHOW
