Send us your thoughts through Fan MailIn this episode of Healthy & Redeemed, we continue our Fruit of the Spirit series by exploring what the Bible really means by joy. Unlike happiness, which depends on circumstances, biblical joy is a steady, Spirit-produced reality rooted in God’s grace and presence.Drawing from Galatians 5 and John 15, we look at how joy flows from abiding in Christ, how we are both given joy and called to rejoice, and how joy can remain present even in seasons of sorrow. This episode offers a simple, grounded perspective: joy is not something we create—it’s something we experience as we stay connected to the true source, - Jesus Christ.Support the showGet Healey's Books:  Changing Your Feelings - A Workbook for Anxiety and Worry  The Red Ball, A Story of Friendship and ForgivenessThe Companion Activity Book for The Red BallThe Worried Little Goat_______________________________For free Mental Health Resources:  Create an account on my website for unlimited resource access!  Click here to support the show*This podcast is for informational and educational purposes only.  I approach scripture through the lens of a Christian licensed counselor, combining biblical insight with clinical understanding of emotional health.  It does not constitute professional advice or is intended to diagnose/treat any disorders and does not constitute a client-therapist relationship.   *Any links to specific resources or content (outside of my own) are not an endorsement of the entire website, author, organization, etc.  Their views may not represent my own.Healthy & Redeemed is a Christian mental health podcast blending Scripture, psychology, and coping skills.

Or maybe you've justified your frustration by asking, "Wasn't Jesus angry too?" We've all been there. But what if the way Christians talk about righteous anger, justified anger, and righteous indignation is actually keeping us from doing the harder work of examining our own hearts? In this episode of the Healthy & Redeemed Podcast, we look at righteous anger, justified anger, and righteous indignation.   We dig into why comparing our anger to Jesus and God's wrath might be self-deception.   This episode is an invitation to submit your anger to God rather than defend it, to respond with righteousness instead of remaining fueled by emotion, and to trust that God’s patience and wisdom are at work in us.Support the showGet Healey's Books:  Changing Your Feelings - A Workbook for Anxiety and Worry  The Red Ball, A Story of Friendship and ForgivenessThe Companion Activity Book for The Red BallThe Worried Little Goat_______________________________For free Mental Health Resources:  Create an account on my website for unlimited resource access!

Send us your thoughts through Fan MailWhat does God actually want us to do with our anger once it shows up?In this episode of the Healthy & Redeemed Podcast, we continue the anger series by turning directly to Scripture. Rather than denying anger or excusing it, this episode explores what God’s Word teaches about managing anger in ways that honor Christ and protect our hearts.Drawing from both the Old and New Testaments, we walksthrough seven biblical principles for handling anger. Each principle is grounded in Scripture and explained with practical clarity, helping listeners understand how anger can quickly open the door to sin—and how God calls us to respond instead.God invites His people to manage anger wisely, surrender it daily, and pursue heart-level transformation rather than surface-level behavior change. If you’ve ever struggled with lingering anger, harsh words, resentment, or forgiveness, this episode offers biblical guidance, reflection questions, and encouragement for the slow, faithful work God does in shaping our hearts.Previous Episodes mentioned in the Podcast:Episode 19:  Forgiving Others and the Myth of Self-ForgivenessEpisode 50:  The Red Ball Book Read AloudChildren's Books Featured in this Series on Anger:The Red Ball, A Story of Friendship and ForgivenessThe Companion Activity Book for The Red Ball_______________________________________________________________________________________________Support the showGet Healey's Books:  Changing Your Feelings - A Workbook for Anxiety and Worry  The Red Ball, A Story of Friendship and ForgivenessThe Companion Activity Book for The Red BallThe Worried Little Goat_______________________________For free Mental Health Resources:  Create an account on my website for unlimited resource access!

    72. When God’s People Got Angry: What Scripture Shows Us (Part 2)

Send us your thoughts through Fan MailIn Part 2, we continue examining anger in Scripture by looking at examples where anger was tied to pride, control, resistance to truth, and fear of losing power. We will continue our look at individuals' anger as well as the collective anger displayed by the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin when confronted with God’s truth. These examples help us see how anger can become especially dangerous when it is fueled by self-protection, entitlement, or opposition to God’s work.Scripture consistently warns us that unchecked anger hardens the heart and pulls us away from righteousness. This episode invites listeners to reflect on why God takes anger so seriously—and why He calls His people to deal with it wisely._______Children's Books:  The Red Ball - A Story of Friendship and ForgivenessCompanion Activity Book for The Red Ball  The Worried Little GoatSupport the showGet Healey's Books:  Changing Your Feelings - A Workbook for Anxiety and Worry  The Red Ball, A Story of Friendship and ForgivenessThe Companion Activity Book for The Red BallThe Worried Little Goat_______________________________For free Mental Health Resources:  Create an account on my website for unlimited resource access!
