Ep. 79 Should you change your relationship with being a loser? (I don't think you're a loser though)

Send us Fan MailWhen it comes to changing our behaviour, we often have high expectations of ourselves. And listen, fellow overachiever, I fully support you in your desire to do well and have high standards. HOWEVER, the expectation that nothing will ever go wrong is probably holding you back. Consistency is not built in the days that you're winning; it's built in the days that you feel like you've let yourself down. If you want to do anything meaningful, you need to fck up, and you need to do it fast. Listen to this episode to the most annoying but fastest hack out there to getting your habits to stick longer, for life. Inquire for 1:1 Coaching HereThe Bolder Edit Newsletter, Join HereSubmit your questions to the Unhinged Health Hotline HereCome play on Instagram, Here

Ep. 78 Don't trust yourself around chocolate? Here's how to fix that

Send us Fan MailIt's really common to feel a bit panicky around foods that you've restricted for so long, but you also feel frustrated that you know what to do, but you're just not doing it. Well, your relationship with food is often the bottleneck between what you know and how you want to be eating and looking after yourself. But, to hear 'just eat everything in moderation' can feel really defeating and disheartening because I'm sure you've tried that. In this episode, I break down what you can actually do to create new experiences with food in order to change your relationship to be one where it serves you rather than the other way around...And if you're struggling with your relationship with food and are tired of spinning your wheels trying to go it alone, please fill out the 1:1 coaching application below. Inquire for 1:1 Coaching HereThe Bolder Edit Newsletter, Join HereSubmit your questions to the Unhinged Health Hotline HereCome play on Instagram, Here

Ep. 77 [HOT TOPICS] 'Strong not skinny' is a trash take (as someone who is strong and not at all skinny)

Send us Fan MailThe strong vs. skinny debate is growing legs. I had a lovely follower on Instagram send me a DM asking my thoughts on another creator's video of 'strong vs. skinny. And as someone who is very much strong and not at all skinny, my views might actually surprise you. And although it is touted as an empowering message, it is kind of garbage, so listen to this episode to get the full download of how and why I feel the 'strong not skinny' trend is trash. Inquire for 1:1 Coaching HereThe Bolder Edit Newsletter, Join HereSubmit your questions to the Unhinged Health Hotline HereCome play on Instagram, Here

EP. 76 Fat loss and improving your body image? Is that an oxymoron?

Send us Fan MailI rarely ever see anyone talking about the nuanced middle of improving your body image, and that you don't have to feel guilty for losing weight. In this episode, I break down a conversation that I had with one of my clients a few weeks ago because she felt guilty for losing weight, and by the end of our conversation, she felt a bit different. It's quite normal to feel like you want to lose weight, but sometimes in understanding the importance of body image, we go too far the other way in think that it is always a bad thing. However, this is not a conversation that can be easily fit into an Instagram reel, so tune in for a full breakdown of where fat loss and body image can coincide. Inquire for 1:1 Coaching HereThe Bolder Edit Newsletter, Join HereSubmit your questions to the Unhinged Health Hotline HereCome play on Instagram, Here

Ep. 75 Do you *just* need some accountability?

Send us Fan MailWe all do well with accountability, right? But you've had accountability in the past, like a nutritionist or a PT and then when you stopped seeing them, you weren't all that accountable to yourself, and then you felt like crap that all of your effort went haywire again. But the thing is, most coaches give you a fish and don't teach you to how to fish. In this episode, I break down why different types of motivation are more or less effective and how to cultivate higher-quality motivation to feel you have the self-trust and self-efficacy to leave coaching and carry on, on plan, and thriving. Inquire for 1:1 Coaching HereThe Bolder Edit Newsletter, Join HereSubmit your questions to the Unhinged Health Hotline HereCome play on Instagram, Here

Ep. 74 No need to panic about going off plan this Easter- listen for a practical guide

Send us Fan MailLogic has its limits when it comes to making us feel better about our behaviour. So hearing that 'a calorie is just a calorie' doesn't really make you feel any better about overdoing it on the Easter bunnies this weekend. Fear not, you don't need to white-knuckle your way through another holiday weekend because this podcast episode goes through a strategy I use with clients all the time to help them build self-trust, self-efficacy and leave them proud of their behaviour after a weekend that would have thrown them in the past for months. Inquire for 1:1 Coaching HereThe Bolder Edit Newsletter, Join HereSubmit your questions to the Unhinged Health Hotline HereCome play on Instagram, Here

Ep. 73 I'm not anti-diet BUT (lots of people missed the point when I talked about gaining weight, and losing it again)

Send us Fan MailAre you stuck in a cycle of healthy days, maybe even weeks and then 'fck it' days, weeks or even months? You know you 'should' be doing more to look after your health but you don't want to track calories or live and die by what the scale tells you. Well me either but in episode 71 I spoke about how I had recently gained weight due to meds changes and how I intended to lose it again. Some people seem to think that I'm going back to full gym bro tactics of fat loss when in reality, is my way not better? I'm putting my own integrated coaching methods to the test, and honestly, I use them with clients for a reason, they're the best. While the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goal-setting framework is widely touted, we challenge the notion that it should be your first stop on the journey to success. Instead, we explore the power of values-based goal setting and how it can revolutionise your approach to health and fitness. We begin by examining the limitations of SMART goals, emphasising their focus on external metrics rather than internal motivation. While they provide a clear roadmap, they often neglect the why behind our goals, leaving us vulnerable to burnout and lack of fulfilment.Next, we introduce the concept of values-based goals, which centre on aligning our actions with our core values. By tapping into what truly matters to us, we cultivate intrinsic motivation that sustains us through setbacks and challenges. We discuss how to identify your values and integrate them into your health and fitness journey, creating a sense of purpose and meaning that transcends mere achievement. But how do we bridge the gap between intention and action? We offer practical strategies for translating values into tangible behaviours. From creating rituals and habits to fostering a supportive environment, we empower listeners to take consistent, sustainable steps towards their goals. Finally, we address the crucial role of self-compassion and resilience in the pursuit of health and fitness. We debunk the myth of perfection and embrace the messy, imperfect nature of progress. By cultivating kindness towards ourselves, we foster resilience in the face of setbacks, ultimately propelling us towards long-term success.Join us as we embark on a journey beyond SMART goals, where values serve as our compass and fulfilment awaits at every milestone. It's time to redefine success in health and fitness and unlock the transformative power of aligning our actions with our deepest values.

We kick things off with a heart-to-heart about the struggles of staying driven, and then I open up about the Hunter Health Project's coaching applications. There's a lot of noise out there in the world of health advice, but I'm cutting through it with an evidence-based approach and support from industry experts.Let's get real about the hurdles high-achieving women and marginalized communities face when it comes to motivation and discipline. I dismantle the harmful myths that suggest a lack of success is due to a lack of desire. Instead, we shine a light on internal motivation, the power of autonomy, and why personalized coaching can rewrite the narrative of health and fitness. You'll discover why fostering relatedness, competence, and autonomy isn't just jargon – it's a transformative approach to creating lasting habits that resonate with who you are and what you value.Wrapping up the conversation, I peel back the industry curtain to share how integrating self-compassion has revolutionized my coaching practice. Plus, I offer a sneak peek into our next discussion on the symbiotic relationship between motivation and goal setting. Ep. 37 (Pt. 1) Is nutrition research f*cked? with special guest Dr. Alan Flanagan

Send us Fan MailWe are flooded with outrageous-sounding information on nutrition every single day. It always seems to be people with some credentials pedalling the latest toxic and poisonous nutrients, but what are the people working in nutrition research saying? Not the chiropractors turned 'nutrition experts' and why is it that nutrition seems to be so easily misinterpreted? Who do you believe? What do we actually need to know from nutrition research anyway? This is part one of a two-part series with Dr Alan Flanagan who's information is listed below to get in touch. Send us Fan MailWe all do it, don't finish the final set at the gym, tell ourselves we'll start again on Monday ,  ghost our coaches, let our goals fade into the distance when we might have had a really good chance of getting there. Self-sabotaging or self-handicapping is really quite common. WE ALL DO IT. So why do we do it? Is this is the secret sauce to overcoming obstacles and finally reaching our goals? This week I have a very, very special guest Ella Whitcomb-Khan chatting all things self-handicapping and how we can get out of our own way! How to get in touch with Ella: Instagram:  @thefitnesspsych_ Her current offering for all fitpros to increase client adherence and client retention ->  bit.ly/SCCEssentialsAs always I would love to chat @hunterhealthproject on Instagram, or [email protected]

Ep. 35 When 'it depends' follow your ick

Send us Fan MailIf you're trolling the internet for free but useful information in order to improve your diet or get more consistent in the gym, there are many different factors that go into advice. As a coach that tries their very best to give quality recommendations or suggestions for free, when I don't know that much about you it is really difficult and I always start everything with 'it depends' because it really does! I don't know how much you work, your preferences, your likes, and dislikes, if you have kids, how many kids, how old your kids are, etc. In this episode I give the most basic litmus test I can come up with to figure out what it is that you need to work on if the advice given is 'it depends' Tune in and let me know how it goes :) And if you want to get in touch find me on Instagram @hunterhealthproject or via email at [email protected]

Ep. 33 Why stoicism and dieting don't go together, in my humble opinion

Send us Fan MailIs it stoicism or is she dissociating? Right after the Easter holiday, I think we can all agree that copying and pasting a math solution onto an emotional issue just won't work. It is a round peg and a square hole... Now stoicism is often toted around as something 'motivating' to make us want to work out and eat broccoli, but does it work? Every 18-year-old personal trainer with a six-pack and a chip on their shoulder owns at least one copy of "Daily Stoic" but does it really mean that your yo-yo dieting is solved? That your stress management is good? That you'll have a good strategy for your nutrition goals? Tune in to find out, this one is a bit of a rant. Say hi: Email: [email protected]: @hunterhealthproject

Ep. 32 I'm not diabetic, but if carbs spike my blood sugar? Do I need a CGM?

Send us Fan MailYour blood sugar will increase when you eat certain foods, carbohydrates, and protein, but how worried do we need to be about that? We all know that diabetes can wreak havoc on our health where glucose runs rampant in our bodies. But is it important to monitor how much your blood sugar spikes when you eat foods? Is that information going to help me make more personalised better nutritional choices? Well, to be honest, I wouldn't necessarily say so, in this episode I dive into why exactly that is and the considerations to be made.

Ep. 31 Basketball, Vasectomies and diet soda, what do they have in common?

Send us Fan MailWhat do all of these things have in common you ask? Well let me tell you, in this little soundbite of an episode I discuss the difference between causation and correlation. Lots of things are correlated but that doesn't always add up to one CAUSING the other and we can really get carried away with this in nutrition studies. Especially in click-bait headlines. Let me know what you think!

Ep. 30 Begrudgingly taking my own advice...

Send us Fan MailWell, this was not the podcast that was planned! However, I took my own advice to put out something less than perfect in the name of consistency, and I tease our next episode all about continuous glucose monitors and if we all really need them, or should we hand over our money immediately. Speak to you soon you legendary not-gurus.
