    You Keep Self-Sabotaging Because You Don't Believe You'll Actually Change

    Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” But, there’s hope! Beliefs can change, praise God! And when they do—everything changes.Here are a few steps to take today to help you realign your beliefs:STEP 1: IDENTIFY THE LIE - What are you believing about yourself? Be honest. Ask the Lord to reveal all you need to know, this will take time. This is daily praying Psalm 139:23-24. STEP 2: REPLACE IT WITH TRUTH - Not your opinion—God’s truth. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."STEP 3: ACT LIKE THE NEW VERSION OF YOU- Even before it feels natural. Identity is built through action. Fake it til ya make it baby! STEP 4: STOP REINFORCING THE OLD STORY - Your words matter. Stop saying: “I can’t” “I always fail” or I’ll try. Action Step: As you journal this week ask the Lord what belief is keeping you stuck? Write what you know and anything else He reveals. Ask Him to take it, then lay it at the foot of the cross.Lord, Renew my mind. Help me see myself the way You see me Father, help me to claim victory when the journey feels so long. Let me look only at today Lord and how I can honor You with my life and my choices. Break the lies I’ve been believing and replace them with You Truth. Thank You for new mercies Father, help me to listen to the Holy Spirit inside me. I love You Jesus.     Delayed Obedience is Still Disobedience

    “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15Here are a few steps you can take today:STEP 1: ACT IMMEDIATELY - When you feel that nudge—move. Not later. Not eventually. Now. James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” STEP 2: LOWER THE BAR - You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a starting point.  5-minute walk -  One healthy choice -  One “no” to temptation. 5-4-3-2-1-GO! Make a healthy choice!STEP 3: STOP OVERTHINKING - Overthinking delays action. Action creates clarity. STEP 4: BUILD TRUST WITH YOURSELF - Every time you follow through, you prove something: “I CAN do this.” “I keep my word.” Action Step for today is to ACT. Take ONE step. What is one thing you already know God is asking you to DO that you keep putting off in your health journey? Journal it and ask Him to help you take one step.Father, I love You so much. Please Lord, forgive me for delaying what You’ve made clear. Give me courage to act today not tomorrow. I want what You want for my life Jesus, I know I have so much life to live.     You're Not Addicted to Food- You're Addicted to Escape with a Side of Control

     Psalm 34:18; “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Proverbs 23:2 “and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.”Here are 4 ways to start today:STEP 1: IDENTIFY YOUR ESCAPE MOMENTS- Start noticing your pattern. STEP 2: SIT IN THE DISCOMFORT (JUST FOR A MOMENT) -Instead of immediately reaching for food…Pause and sit in what you feel. STEP 3: REPLACE ESCAPE WITH CONNECTION- Instead of numbing: Pray out loud- Journal what you’re feeling- Turn on worship music -  Step outside and breathe STEP 4: SHORTEN THE ESCAPE LOOP - Let’s be real—you might still fail at times, but instead of spiraling for an hour or a day take a breath.Action Step: As you feel the craving, pause and ask yourself why you’re craving what you’re craving. Then say, Lord lead me. Will you do that? Journal what you hear.Holy Father, Help me stop running from what I feel. Give me courage to sit in discomfort and bring it to You. Teach me to choose connection over escape. I don’t want to numb anymore—I want to heal. I know I can’t do it alone Lord, lead me, guide me, be the constant in my head. I need you Jesus, thank You for loving me as I am while I work to be who I know You made me to be. Forgive me for waiting on motivation instead of choosing obedience. Help me walk in surrender daily, even when it’s hard. Change my desires and strengthen my spirit Father, I don’t want to do what feels right or what’s easy, I want to walk in step with Your Spirit in the lead. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Action Step: Pray a prayer of surrender and take one step towards where He’s leading, just one step of obedience.     You’re Not “Trying” - You’re Negotiating With Sin

    1 Thessalonians 5:17-24: Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  Do not quench the Spirit.  Do not despise prophecies,  but test everything; hold fast what is good.  Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.PRACTICAL STEPS:1: CALL IT WHAT IT IS- 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us.2: SET CLEAR BOUNDARIESMatthew 5:33-37; Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.  Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.3: DECIDE AHEAD OF TIME- Proverbs 22:3-4: The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it. The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.Proverbs 21:5; The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.4: REPLACE—DON’T JUST REMOVE- Romans 13:14 Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh.5: STOP JUSTIFYING- James 1:14: Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.God, Show me where I’ve been compromising. I mean, let’s be real Father, I know there are areas I know of, but I’m guessing there are others I’ve looked past. Give me clarity on what needs to change and help me stop negotiating and start walking in obedience. I’m so sick of my complacency and excuses. Thank You that You love me and only see good in me Lord. I know I don’t have to earn anything from You, but I do want to honor and glorify you in my choices, my thoughts and my actions. Strengthen me to follow through Lord, with the power of Your Holy Spirit that lives in me. Thank You Jesus, it’s in Your Name I pray, Amen.ACTION STEP: Decide what your “no” is, pray for strength, then stick to it.     Your Body Isn't the Enemy- Your Flesh Is

    Galatians 5:16-17 “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”PRACTICAL STEPS: STEP 1: SEPARATE IDENTITY FROM BEHAVIORRomans 6:11 says: “So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”STEP 2: EXPECT THE BATTLE1 Peter 4:12 “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial…”STEP 3: STRENGTHEN YOUR SPIRIT DAILYMatthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” STEP 4: PRACTICE SAYING NO IMMEDIATELYJames 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Resistance is a decision and it’s up to you to make it happen.Lord, today was a hard lesson. I need tough love Jesus, thank you for flipping tables for me. I don’t want to set up tables in your house and take advantage of your grace. I want to live in my temple in a way that glorifies you. Thank You for this body You’ve given me. Forgive me for blaming it instead of taking responsibility for my choices. Help me recognize the difference between my body and my flesh. Strengthen my spirit so I can walk in self-control and obedience. I love You so much Father. Lead me to Your way everlasting.     STOP Starting Over- You're Not Broken, You're Undisciplined

    2 Timothy 1:7; “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”PRACTICAL STEPS:STEP 1: PICK ONE NON-NEGOTIABLE👉 Drink your water  👉 Walk daily 👉 Stop late-night snacking. choose one.Luke 16:10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much.”STEP 2: DO IT WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT Galatians 5:16 says: “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”STEP 3: REMOVE TEMPTATIONRomans 13:14 “Make no provision for the flesh."STEP 4: TRACK CONSISTENCYGalatians 6:9  “Let us not grow weary of doing good for at the proper time we will reap harvest if we do not give up.”STEP 5: STOP STARTING OVERProverbs 24:16 “The righteous falls seven times and rises again…”Holy Father, Help me stop quitting when things get hard. Build Your holy discipline in me Lord, I may not feel ready but I am willing and I want to change. Give me strength to follow through with Your Spirit Lord because I know it isn’t my willpower that will do it, but You living in me. Help me to persevere, even when I don’t feel like it. I know my feelings are fickle Father, but I ache to heal this part of my life. Help me to walk in obedience and lay down my fear.     You Don't Have a Food Problem, You Have a Trust Problem

    Proverbs 3:5-6; one we hear and quote often, but do we actually live it out? “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.”PRACTICAL STEPS:1: PAUSE BEFORE YOU EAT - Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.” STEP 2: SAY IT OUT LOUD TO GODPsalm 62:8 “Pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.” God is not asking you to hide your emotions. He’s inviting you to bring them.STEP 3: WAIT 5-10 MINUTESProverbs 16:32 “Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty…”STEP 4: CHOOSE TRUST OVER COMFORT1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”Heavenly Father, I confess that I’ve been turning to food instead of You. Again. I’ve been trying to manage my emotions on my own, and it’s not working. Teach me how to pause. Teach me how to come to You first. I felt so connected to You during Lent Jesus, reconnect my fire, I do not want to find myself drifting from the connection we made.  Help me trust You in the moments where I feel overwhelmed, tired, or out of control. I don’t want temporary comfort—I want real freedom that I know only comes from acknowledging Your perfect path for me.     He Is Risen Indeed!! The Empty Tomb Changes Everything!

    Matthew 28:5–6  says, “The angel said to the women, ‘Don’t be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus… He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.’”The stone wasn’t rolled away so Jesus could get out. It was rolled away so we could see in!! Death did not win!!Resurrection life means: Your past does not define you.  Your sin is not final. Your old self is buried. Your future is alive.Resurrection is not a metaphor. It is victory. And that victory now shapes your choices. You don’t live like someone defeated. You live like someone redeemed!! And God’s second commandment, to love others as yourself is a call to be the hands and feet of Jesus.Easter is not an ending; it is commissioning to go live differently, to share your story. Go forgive quicker. Go repent faster, to surrender daily. So, GO walk in His resurrection power and let the Holy Spirit speak through you and use you as He desires. The tomb is empty. So your excuses are too.Jesus, oh sweet Holy Jesus! Thank You for the Cross. Thank You for the tomb. Thank You for resurrection power, for ascension and that You are living in me!     Maundy Thursday -> Easter - SUNDAY IS COMING- and Then What

    Matthew 26:17- On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.” They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?” Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.” Revelation 2:4–5: “I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first.”Luke 9:23; “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”Most Holy Father, Thank You for this season of Lent. Thank You for this Holy Day. Thank You for what today represents to Your followers. Thank You for going to the cross for me Jesus, but thank You especially for your resurrection and ascension. Thank You that You don’t want me to do life on my own or have to figure things out. Thank You that You want to do it all for me! What a gift. I know I often take it for granted and make life too hard. I release it all to You Jesus! Thank You that Sunday is coming, thank You for the reminder that even You agonized to God. Thank You for what You exposed in me this Lent, for all You healed, corrected, restored and strengthened. I don’t want to drift again. Keep my heart focused on spending time with You first Lord. Keep my focus on You. Keep my obedience steady. Let surrender be my lifestyle. Let resurrection power shape my choices. Thank You Father, that while I cannot begin to fathom Your power, I know You love me and are with me always. Let me live as though I know it every moment of every day.     1 Corinthians 15:14; “And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless.”Romans 6:4: “Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” Picture Jesus hanging on the cross. Close your eyes. Can you see Him hanging there? A crown of thorns digging into His skull, beaten, bloody, bruised, hanging in agony, surrounded by criminals and people laughing at Him, taunting him with vinegar wine, a puncture in his side. Take a second to ask Him what He needs you to surrender, to give up, and what to pick up. Spirit of God, I have believed I was powerless. I have accepted my unhealthy excuses and patterns as permanent. I have excused weakness as identity. But You raised Jesus from the dead and You live in me. Break the lies that keep my stuck Lord. Strengthen my heart Lord and help me walk in obedience. Remind me that temptation is not ownership. Teach me to walk in the newness of life that only comes from You.     Fasting With the Right Heart Posture-Lent Series

    Matthew 6:16–18, “When you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private.”Fasting can quietly become:• A badge of honor • A proof of maturity • A way to feel superior • A method of controlYou can fast and still be self-focused. You can sacrifice and still crave recognition. And Lent is the season where God gently strips that. Fasting is not spiritual theater. It is hidden hunger for God. If anyone praises your fast, you already received your reward. But if it remains unseen? The Father sees. Fasting with the right heart fasting is: Quiet.  Honest. Humble. Dependent. It says: “I need You more than I need this.” Not: “Look how strong I am.” Or let me replace this with that. It’s give me more of you Jesus.Joel 2:13: “Don’t rend your clothing in your grief, but rend your hearts instead.”Instead of asking; “How long should I fast?” Ask: “What is shaping me more than God right now?” Instead of asking: “What can I handle giving up?” Ask: “What do I defend?” What makes you slightly irritated when someone suggests you limit it? That might be your master. Father, Search my motives. If I am fasting to prove something, correct me. If I am sacrificing to control outcomes, humble me. If I am giving something up but not giving You my heart, soften me. I don’t want performance. I want You Jesus. Only Your Holy Presence. Teach me to hunger for You more than the desires of the world. Let every craving turn me toward You God. I ask this again, in Jesus’s most Holy Name.     The Death of Our Old Self-Lent Series

    Galatians 2:20; “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” The old self negotiates. It says: “I’ll fast — but I’ll keep this.” “I’ll surrender — but not that.” “I’ll obey — but only if it’s comfortable.” The old self wants partial obedience. Lent exposes where partial obedience still lives. Where are you struggling today?The old self: • Seeks control over surrender • Seeks comfort over obedience • Seeks validation over identity • Seeks appetite over discipline.Romans 6:6; “We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives.” Romans 7:15-19; “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.” Father, forgive us. We’re trying too hard and we’re done. We’re tired. Our flesh is in a constant battle with You Lord and we want You to win! We’re rooting for YOU! Change us, break us, REND OUR HEARTS JESUS! Rid me of myself Lord, I belong to You. I rebuke the enemy in my life; I rebuke my fleshy desires. I ache only for You Lord. Thank You for loving me enough to go to the cross, thank You for taking that burden on, You knew I would never make it on my own. Thank You that I don’t have to. Lead me Jesus, help me finish this season of Lent with new perspective and obedience that will lead me in the next season. I want my life to be a testimony to You alone, show me how Lord.     The Cross Confronts Our Sin-Lent Series

    Isaiah 53:5; “But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his woulds you have been healed.” Jesus, why do I keep living in my sin? I don’t want to, I ache to be free and live for You. Don’t let me rush past the Cross Lord; show me the weight of what You carried for me, awaken a spirit within me Lord and help me feel the seriousness of sin without slipping into shame. I want to see clearly Lord, I want to live free of this burden. Thank You for taking it for me Lord. I am laying it down and picking up Your righteousness today. I receive Your blessing Lord. Romans chapter 5:8, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” The Cross does two things at once:Anything we turn to for relief, identity, or escape can quietly replace dependence on Him and becomes an idol and sin in our lives. The Cross gently but firmly says: “Come back.” Father, I do not take the cross lightly. I know it cost You everything Jesus. Forgive me for being complacent and living in compromise. Where I’ve treated sin lightly Lord, convict me. Where I’ve excused patterns, strengthen my resolve. I bring my habits to the Cross. My cravings. My compromises. My hidden things. I lay them down at Your feet Lord. Thank You that confrontation and conviction are not rejection. Thank You that the Cross is proof of love. I surrender again, over and over Lord. I love You so much.     Godly Conviction vs Shame-Lent Series

    2 Corinthians 7:10 says,  “For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.” Godly sorrow says:• “That wasn’t aligned.” • “I see what I did.” • “I want to change.” • “Lord, help me.” It is honest. It is humble. But it is hopeful. It pulls you toward God. Godly sorrow says: “I messed up.” Shame says: “I am a mess.” See the difference?What Shame Feels Like Shame says: • “You always do this.” • “You’ll never change.”  • “Why even try?” • “You might as well quit.”Father, forgive me, I have partnered with shame and spoke harsh words over myself. I have exaggerated my failures and made my life about me. Help me to get over myself Jesus. Help me to have the conviction to stand in Your promises, the way You did in the wilderness Jesus. I have spoken identity statements over temporary behavior, Lord but I release this shame in Your Holy Name Lord. Teach me to receive correction without self-hatred Lord and help me to walk humbly with You leading the way. I want this season of Lent to be about You Lord and getting back to constant and continual connection with my Heavenly Father, show me how Lord. I need You in every moment of every day. Amen.Psalm 51:17 we read; “The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.” We can Practice Godly Sorrow:Here’s how:Name the behavior clearly.Take responsibility without exaggeration.Ask for help.Move forward immediately.Lord, I’ve missed the mark and I’m sorry. I take responsibility and I release the shame. Forgive me for false humility, cleanse my thinking. Strengthen my discipline. Let my sorrow produce change, not self-hatred. Thank You for Your mercy Father, I need it every day. Let me live with Holy Spirit conviction in all I do and say.     Jesus in the Wilderness- The Private War for Obedience (Lent Series)

     Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.  The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:“‘He will command his angels concerning you,    and they will lift you up in their hands,    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’  Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only. Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him."     How to Fast- Lent Series

    “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36 We read Matthew 6: 16-18 last week, but I think it's an important reminder. “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 1so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”Hebrews 12:11 says “No discipline is pleasant at the time but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who are trained by it.” Oh how sweet the sound! Doesn’t that just sound amazing!? I crave that spiritual freedom, but food freedom, all the freedom! Don’t you? I imagine you do or you’d skip right by this episode! Fasting options:The standard fast- no food for a certain number of days. Yes to water and juice. Depending on the length of your fast you may add a clear broth. The Sun up to Sun down fast- You only eat after sundown, you pray at the other meal times.The Partial/Selective Fast- this is for people with a medical condition who want to do something, but can’t give up food completely. Fast sugar or starches, meat and dairy to name a few. Lord, I am excited to fast and get over myself! I know You will have to show up for me in a big way, but You do that anyway Lord.     Food Isn't Your Problem- Lent Series

    “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18Matthew 6:16-18 says, “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. If you have a medical condition you should consult a doctor before even considering a food fast. If you can't food fast; social media, gossip, pop, coffee, games on your phone, gambling.When the craving hits, get on your knees and pray. Psalm 69:10 - When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach.Ezra 8:23 - So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty.Acts 14:23 - And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.Isaiah 58:6 - “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?God, I am selfish. Forgive me. Forgive me for all the distractions that keep me from pursuing you and leaning into this part of Your word. You command me to fast Lord and I haven’t. But I want to. I know discipline is an area I struggle with, but I know that with You all things are possible. Create in me a clean heart O God, I ache to hear from You. Show me how to lean into this fast Jesus and help me break the chains that are holding me back from living out all You have for me. I may not be ready Lord, but I AM willing. I think about all You did for me on that cross and it fills me with unspeakable gratitude, let me never take it for granted Jesus. Let me do this because You love me, not so that You’ll love me.     Your Body Doesn't Need Fixed, This Does

    “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who are trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.” Hebrews 12:11-12“This is what the Lord says: ‘Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.’” Jeremiah 6:16 Fixing assumes something is broken. So when your approach sounds like:“I need to fix my metabolism” “I need to fix my cravings”“I need to fix my body”Your nervous system hears danger because constant monitoring increases stress, especially when results seem so far off, which they always do at the start. Stress increases cortisol, the stress hormone and cortisol tells your body to conserve, protect, fight.Your body resists not because it’s stubborn, but because it’s being managed like a problem instead of cared for like a person. Healing happens when the body feels safe enough to let go, when we start to walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit. Don’t you WANT that?Don’t you crave that healing and peace? What’s keeping you from actually walking in His ways and trusting that surrender works?Do you think you know more than God?As you journal today ask yourself:Where have I been trying to “fix” myself instead of obey and listen? What would change if I treated my body like an ally? Who could I become if I let God lead my weight loss journey? Lord, I’m tired of fighting and fixing. I am exhausted to be honest. I say I just want You to fix me, yet when You lead and guide me I don’t listen. Help me release the belief that my body is a problem to solve, I love her Lord, help me treat her as such. Thank You for this body Father, forgive me for trying to “fix” myself, I am not broken because You are in me Jesus. Teach me how to create safety in my body instead of pressure to conform to the world. I only want to obey You Lord. Please show me how.     You're Fighting the Wrong Battle in Your Weight Loss Journey

    “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world.” Ephesians 6:12 When identity is secure in Christ: We seek Him and not sugar. We rely on Him to heal instead of using excuses to stay stuck. When we root our identity in the gospel of Jesus Christ, shame loses its grip. And God’s direction for our life becomes our focus and joy. Victory is not found in stricter rules — it’s found in standing firm in truth; God’s truth and it’s His truth that sets us free.Ephesians 6:10-12, “ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Lord, I’ve been fighting the wrong battle, I repent. Father thank You that my identity is in You and not the things of this world. Help me to forget myself Jesus, forgive me for vanity and striving and lack of self-control and discipline. Help me to arm myself with your armor, the full armor of God that I have at my disposal.  Help me stop fighting myself. Show me where shame has disguised itself as discipline. Root me in truth, not condemnation Father and lead me to live and eat and move and serve as your perfect gospel calls me to.     Your Need to Control is Stalling Your Weight Loss

    Control often sounds like:“I just need stricter rules.” I’m not eating sugar this month.“I’ll feel better once I get back in control.” I am giving up carbs today.“I can’t trust myself around food.” I’m going to…XYZ. Fill in your control blank.Proverbs 3:5-8, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”Control says, “I have to manage this myself.” Trust says, “I don’t have to do this alone, God wants to guide me.” Control usually shows up after fear.Fear of:Weight gainLosing progressBeing judgedFeeling out of controlSo we respond with:Food rulesRestrictionCompensation“Good” and “bad” daysSo how do we release the need to control?Ask yourself:Where did I learn that control equals safety? What area am I trying to control? Does this come from unresolved trauma? Past experience? Comparison? What am I afraid would happen if I loosened my grip? What does God keep asking me to do that I keep putting off?Holy Father, I release the belief that control is wisdom. I repent Lord. Heal this desire to force and allow.  Teach me how to trust You with my body and my choices, Lord. Thank You for giving me what I need to walk in full obedience to Your voice inside me. Lead me Jesus, I am laying it all down at Your Holy feet. Thank You for loving me enough to care about this area of my life.  Help me listen and obey and remind me always that You are all I need. We think less about food and more about honoring God with our choices and our bodies.Journal Prompts:Have I been trying to force fruit from depleted soil? You’re losing control. You’re falling apart. You’re behind. You should be further by now.The enemy says: • low serotonin → “you’re failing emotionally” • low estrogen → “you have no control” • slow metabolism → “you’ll always struggle” • fatigue → “see, this isn’t working”3. Your identity in Christ is stronger than your hormones. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.LET’S TALK ABOUT THE HORMONE REALITY FOR WOMEN 40+Hormone #1 — Cortisol- Your stress hormone. Women over 40 produce more of it and clear it more slowly. High cortisol increases:  ✔ belly fat ✔ cravings for sugar ✔ emotional reactivity ✔ nighttime overeatingHormone #2 — Insulin-  Insulin resistance becomes more common after 40. Which means: ✔ more hunger ✔ more energy crashes ✔ more “why do I want sugar at 3pm every day?”Hormone #3 — Estrogen Decline- Lower estrogen impacts: ✔ serotonin (your feel-good hormone) ✔ motivation ✔ satisfaction after eatingHERE IS A SPIRITUAL + HORMONAL SOLUTION:1. Interrupt the spiritual moment - When cravings hit, ask: “What am I really needing right now?”  Peace?  Rest? Affection?  Relief? 2. Stabilize your hormones with structure. • Eat every 3–4 hours • Include protein + fiber-filled carb + healthy fat • Drink 16-20 ounces of water every afternoon- ½ your weight in ounces total each day • Stop fasting too long- intermittent fasting can be beneficial for some as long as you’re meeting your macros • Don’t skip meals thinking it will help (it spikes cravings later)3.     Done Dieting? Rebuild Trust with Your Body

    Psalm 139:14 says. For you created me in my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know them full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes say my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.How precious to me are your thoughts God! How vast the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand- when I am awake I am still with you.”Repair Trust with Your Body.  Here are the three pillars:Step 1: Predictable Feeding -Your body feels safe when it knows food is coming. Eat every 3–4 hours. Protein every meal. Stop skipping breakfast — your hormones pay the price. Step 2: Gentle, Consistent Movement - You don’t need to punish your body. You need to partner with it. Women over 40 benefit most from:• Strength training • Walking • Stretching • Light cardio, in your zone 2 heart rate zone. Not extremes. Just consistency.Step 3: Respectful Self-Talk- Your body hears you. It responds to the way you speak to it. Shift from: “She never loses weight.” to “She is healing, and she’s doing her best.”Lord, forgive me for thinking and speaking negatively about my body.      Psalm 34:18: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed..Why Emotional Eating Happens:  1.Stress & Cortisol- Your body seeks quick dopamine. Sugar appears to be an instant comfort.2. Fatigue After 40, your hunger hormones rise when you’re tired. It’s not “lack of willpower” — it’s biology, but it can be realigned.3. Loneliness or overwhelm- Food seems to be a silent companion.4. Unprocessed emotions- We avoid feelings by eating them, only to be left feeling worse than before.Eradicate Emotional Eating with this METHOD:The 1-Minute Interrupt: When you start to feel the pull to the fridge or pantry, before you take a step in that direction or even one bite, pause for 1 minute and ask yourself:1. What is my body feeling? Tired? Anxious? Overstimulated?2. What is my heart feeling? Lonely? Hurt? Ignored?3. What does my spirit need? Peace? Prayer? Stillness?Lord, I am so tired of this crutch. I am so tired of leaning on food when I know You are the only true fix to any issue I face. Father forgive me for seeking fulfillment in food and diets, Lord I am laying it all down. Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone patterns change. Your basal metabolic rate nudges down. Sleep becomes more fragile. These aren’t moral failures; they’re biological processes. Treat them like information, not indictment.The compassion principle Shame increases cortisol, and cortisol holds on to weight. When you respond to yourself with harshness, your body interprets that as stress. The first move toward sustainable change is kindness to your nervous system. That looks like two deep breaths before you eat, a pause before a decision, speak love to yourself, or an end of the day gratitude ritual. Small worship practices that change biology Let’s call habits “liturgies” — small, repeated acts that shape your soul and body. Three liturgies that matter:Morning water 16-20 ounces + 25 grams of protein within 60 minutes of waking (stabilizes blood sugar).A 12–20 minute walk mid-afternoon (lowers stress, improves insulin sensitivity).A 15-minute meal-prep habit twice a week (reduces decision fatigue).These are tactical things you can start right now. Week 1: The Mercy MoveChoose one liturgy.     Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done.”3 Steps to Keep the Peace:1. Slow your mind with “The 30-Second Reset” Whenever you feel overwhelmed: Pause. Place your hand on your chest. Take one deep breath. Say: “Lord, I need You.” This resets your nervous system and your spirit. Try it right now. Feel the shift? That’s the power of the Holy Spirit intervening on your behalf.2. End the mental chaos with a “Brain Dump Prayer”At the end of a stressful day: Get out a blank sheet of paper- Write down everything swirling in your mind- Turn the list into a prayer- “Lord, here are today’s burdens. I’m giving them back to You.” Your mind will breathe again. 3. Create a “Peace Priority List”Instead of trying to do everything, choose: The 3 most important things for the day- The 1 habit that grounds you-The 1 moment of rest you will honor-Here are a few ways you can destress this week: 1. Lower your holiday expectations, LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS.2. Delegate boldly- it won’t be done your way, that doesn’t mean it isn’t right. 3. Set boundaries without guilt:A loving “no” protects your peace. Try this:“I wish we could, but this season is full. We love you though!” Or:“I can’t commit but thank you for thinking of us.” 4. Nourish your body intentionally5. Choose 10 minutes of movementJesus, we love you. Thank You for being our Peace. Thank You Father that we get to celebrate the birth of Jesus this week, thank you for this time together with family and friends and the ability to serve, love and give back. Protein is Your Body’s Building BlockProtein is the most important macro for weight loss. It helps repair and build muscle, keeps you full longer, and supports your metabolism. Protein IS the difference in reaching your weight loss goal!2. Carbs or carbohydrates are Your Body’s Fuel, your energy for the day.Carbs often get a bad reputation, but your body and your brain need them. Carbs, the RIGHT carbs are your body’s main source of energy. The key is to choose quality carbs: Fruits and vegetables, Whole grains like oats, rice, potatoes, quinoa.  Legumes like beans and lentils.3. Fats: Your Body’s Hormone HelperHealthy fats are essential — especially for women. They support hormones, help absorb vitamins, and keep your skin, hair, and brain healthy. Instead of obsessing over numbers, try this simple, faith-filled approach to balance your meals visually:½ your plate: vegetables; like broccoli, peppers, spinach, cauliflower, anything in season. Squash is a great option! And eating 4-6 cups of veggies daily will help you reach your fiber goal, go number two and lean out all at the same time! ¼ your plate: lean protein- I like to aim for 6-8 ounces per meal, or 25-30 grams per meal, eating 4-6 times per day. It will take about a week for your body to adjust, do your best and keep going!¼ your plate: healthy carbs (like sweet potatoes, beans or rice)Add: a thumb-size serving of healthy fat, a dash of salt and you’re on your way to a more balanced approach!Thank You “Father for creating our bodies with such care and purpose.     How I lost 90 Pounds- My Faith + Fitness Journey

    Psalm 40:1–3 “I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”The goal isn’t to get smaller — it’s to grow stronger in Him.I’ve realized that The Process: Slow, Steady, and Sacred.Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”Your Daily Encouragement: You just have to take one small, surrendered step. Invite God into your journey. Pray over your meals. Ask Him to help you crave His presence more than anything else.Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”Lord, thank You for walking with me through every step of this journey — through the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Father forgive me when I think of my weight or food before You. And Jesus, for the woman listening today, I pray You lift her out of shame and fill her with Your Holy peace and strength.     3 Fall Recipes that Support Your Weight Loss Goals

    Ezekiel 47:12 “Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.”Try these delicious recipes:1. Harvest Breakfast Bowl.½ cup cooked oats or quinoa1 small apple or pear, diced1 tablespoon chopped nutsA sprinkle of cinnamonA drizzle of almond butter or protein powder mixed in, or both!Lord, thank You for this food that fuels my purpose. Help me walk in Your strength and wisdom today.Psalm 90:17 (NLT) says, “May the Lord our God show us His approval and make our efforts successful.”2. Autumn Power Soup.1 tablespoon olive oil1 chopped onion, 2 carrots, 1 celery stalk1 cup cubed butternut squash4 cups broth (chicken or vegetable)½ cup lentils or white beansHerbs like thyme, sage, and a pinch of cinnamonSimmer until everything is tender and serve warm. Oh man, just seeing this recipe makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This soup supports immunity, balances hormones, and satisfies your hunger naturally. Isn’t that amazing! And each ingredient placed on the Earth just for you.3. Spiced Pumpkin Protein Muffins.1 cup canned pumpkin2 eggs½ cup oats or almond flour1 scoop vanilla protein powder½ teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and a dash of salt1 tablespoon maple syrup or stevia to tasteJust Mix, scoop into muffin tins, and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes. These freeze well and make an amazing grab-and-go snack or breakfast. Instead of saying, “I can’t have that,” we start saying, “I can enjoy this in peace and balance.” Healthy eating isn’t about restriction — it’s about stewarding our bodies and choices in a way that honors God. Most Holy Father, thank You for Your good design for food and nourishment. Thank You for fruits, grains, and vegetables that bring healing to our bodies and peace to our minds. Help us honor You in our kitchens and our choices. Teach us to see food not as a burden or a battle, but as a blessing from Your hand. Let us eat to honor you Jesus. Fill our homes with joy, peace, self-discipline, gratitude, and health this season.
