From the Vault: Mic Adam on a 15-Minute LinkedIn Social Selling Routine - Ep 223
I introduced a “from the vault” LinkedIn Live episode of Social Media Pie featuring my 2020 conversation with Mic Adam about building a simple social selling routine that creates relationships and conversations. Mic, a Belgium-based B2B social media consultant with a long sales and marketing background, defined social selling as a salesperson’s approach for reaching prospects, adding value, and ultimately driving sales (distinct from social media marketing). He broke an effective routine into three daily priorities that could fit into about 15 minutes: grow your network (add people you meet and use personalized connection notes), keep your network warm (proactively message contacts and ask questions to spark replies), and stay visible by posting consistently—ideally once per day at a tested best time. We also discussed repackaging older posts, tips for students building networks, and the value of warm networks during lockdowns.00:00 From the Vault Intro01:18 Meet Mic in Belgium03:19 Mic Background and Services04:48 LinkedIn Rockstars Mindset07:06 What Social Selling Means10:06 15 Minute Routine Overview11:49 Step One Grow Network15:07 Step Two Keep Warm21:10 Step Three Post Visibility21:50 Posting Frequency Algorithm23:49 Stop Overposting24:14 Manual Posting Workflow25:41 Weekly Content Template26:14 Polls And Customer Questions27:06 Lockdown And Networking ROI28:49 Audience Q And Feed Tips30:46 Repurpose Old Posts32:06 Students LinkedIn Networking33:29 Prioritize Warm Network35:08 Connect And Find Mic38:21 Final Wrap And CallsConnect with Mic:https://www.linkedin.com/in/micadam/Watch original interview on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/live/nRC8RWNqITQ?feature=shareSupport the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. Member Spotlight: Liz M. Lopez on Permission to Dominate Your Success - Ep 222
I hosted a Marketing with Meller Member Spotlight interview with Liz M. Lopez, a coach, author, and speaker who has written two best-selling professional development books and has nearly 19 years of experience helping leaders, entrepreneurs, and individuals build success strategies. We focused on her book Permission to Dominate Your Success and the related coaching that addresses mindset, self-doubt, and self-imposed limitations through seven “permissions,” developed organically from talks and workshops. Liz shared how the work evolved into offerings including a 90-minute masterclass; The Success Reset, a newer masterclass called Growing Your Business Without Doing More, and a deeper group program called The Dominate Your Success 4-Week Accelerator™ planned for the Fall. We discussed who the work is for, who it isn’t for, and how to choose between masterclasses, coaching, and group support.00:00 Welcome and Episode Setup01:16 Spotlight Format and Perks03:12 Meet Liz Lopez05:00 Book and Coaching Focus06:50 Origin Story and Permissions10:21 Masterclasses and Offer Ladder15:56 Who Its For and Not For18:14 Audience Q and A25:54 Next Steps and Links27:59 Marketing With Meller Updates30:13 Final Thanks and Wrap Up Book — Permission to Dominate Your Success: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DL2FPW8SSchedule a Complimentary Conversation with Coach Liz: https://schedulesessionwithlizmlopez.as.me/Upcoming Workshop — Grow Your Business Without Doing More: https://liz-lopez.mykajabi.com/support-growth-modelConnect with Liz on LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/lizmlopezSupport the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. LinkedIn Post Inspector Not Working: What I Found and How I’m Contacting LinkedIn Ep 221
In this episode, I talk about a little-known LinkedIn tool called the LinkedIn Post Inspector, which refreshes the social share image and description LinkedIn pulls from a webpage when you share a link. I explain that when you update a page’s thumbnail or metadata, LinkedIn often keeps showing an outdated preview unless you run the URL through this tool. Over the weekend and again today, the Post Inspector wouldn’t work for me, and people in an Espresso+ community call confirmed the same issue across multiple countries. I tried incognito and mobile with no success, even though Facebook showed the updated image. I attempted to report it through LinkedIn Help but only got an unhelpful chatbot, so I used my own contact-linkedin resource page and submitted a form, though I’m not optimistic LinkedIn will fix it.https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/LinkedIn Help Form: https://www.mellermarketing.com/contactlinkedin00:00 What Post Inspector Does00:49 Why It Matters for Links01:07 Tool Suddenly Not Working02:06 Troubleshooting Attempts02:40 Is LinkedIn Disabling It03:14 Help Center Chatbot Frustration04:36 How to Contact LinkedIn06:08 Updating My Resource Page06:43 Submitting a Support Ticket07:06 Follow the Money Theory08:17 Wrap Up and Call to Action Support the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. MwM Member Spotlight: Judi Hays & 90-Day Authority Intensive - Ep 220
This episode is a member spotlight interview from my Marketing with Meller membership and learning community. I encourage you to embrace and "abundance mindset" and “coopetition” approach to collaborating with overlapping LinkedIn professionals like today's featured interview with Judi Hays. Judi explained how she helps seasoned executives—often laid off, aged out, or seeking more fulfillment—transition from corporate identities into their next chapter by becoming visible experts through clear positioning in high-trust B2B industries. We focused on her 90-Day Authority Intensive (12 weeks): Elevate (profile and visibility plus sharper positioning language), Expand (network growth and strategy), and Engage (content, messaging, and converting conversations into calls). In Q&A, she shared a supply-chain client example that started with reconnecting to 10 contacts and led to a seven-figure contract, discussed niche vs brand, credibility signals like accurate photos, and described her lifestyle-business goals and remote work experiences.00:00 Episode Preview01:42 Member Spotlight Format03:49 Meet Judi Hays05:20 How Brenda and Judi Connected07:02 90 Day Authority Intensive09:16 Elevate Your Presence12:08 Expand Your Network13:53 Engage for Trust16:58 Accountability and ROI18:58 Remote Lifestyle Business20:47 Night Owl Banter21:12 Audience Q&A Setup22:58 Pepper and Rescue Talk23:50 Case Study Big Win26:58 Serving Seasoned Executives30:06 Brand Versus Niche33:16 Outdated Photos and Trust36:20 How to Work TogetherConnect with Judi on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/judihays/Work with Judi — 90-Day Authority Intensive: https://judihays.com/90-day-authority/Visit Judi’s website: https://judihays.comShout out to Terry Bean: linkedin.com/in/terrybeanShout out to Kevin D. LinkedIn Company Page Edit Post Glitch: Why It Looks Like You’re Posting From Your Profile - Ep 219
I published this episode (and an accompanying YouTube video) after noticing a strange LinkedIn company page glitch when editing a page post. When I clicked the three dots on a recent company post and selected “Edit post,” the edit screen looked like it was coming from my personal profile (my photo showed at the top and it said “Posted to anyone”), even though I was editing a company page update. After making a small change and saving, the post remained on the company page and did not appear as a duplicate post in my personal activity feed. I wasn’t sure why it happened, but I suspected LinkedIn may be changing how company pages and page admin interactions work. Summer Productivity Tips - Ep 218
Summer tends to bring a lighter schedule—but that can actually make it harder to stay productive. In this solo episode, I share the two core techniques I use to stay on track when motivation dips, plus a bonus tip that came straight out of a client call. What You'll LearnHow to structure a weekly to-do list so it stays manageable—not overwhelmingThe left-side / right-side notebook method I use to organize clients, pipeline, and tasksTerry Bean's 3-item Post-It note technique for daily focusWhy open browser tabs can quietly derail your productivity—and what to do about itThe unexpected benefit of talking through your systems with othersEpisode HighlightsTechnique #1: The Left/Right Notebook MethodI use a Full Focus Planner as my weekly to-do notebook. On Monday mornings, I start from scratch—writing down top-of-mind priorities before ever looking at the previous week's list. I split my notebook page into two sides:Right side: Retainer clients at the top, followed by prospects in my proposal stage, then low-effort personal/business tasks for end-of-day wind-downLeft side: My running big-picture to-do list, now much easier to tackle with the pressure removedTechnique #2: Terry Bean's 3-Item Post-ItI learned this at a networking event with Terry Bean. The technique is simple: write exactly three things you need to accomplish today on a 3×3 Post-It note. Keeping it visible throughout the day cuts through a long list and keeps your attention on what actually matters. The Browser Tab Problem (Bonus Insight)During a call with Liz M. Lopez and Elaine Belson, I realized I had four separate Chrome windows open—some with 15–20 tabs each—each tab representing an unfinished task. The takeaway: open tabs are an informal task list, but a risky one. I'm working on cross-referencing my tabs with my written to-do list so nothing falls through the cracks.Bonus Technique: Saying It Out LoudVerbalizing your workflows to another person is itself a productivity tool. Hearing yourself describe a system often reveals both what's working and where the gaps are—without needing a formal audit.People MentionedTammy Pereira — Business coach and entrepreneur who reminded me: "That's your money—go after it." | linkedin.com/in/tammypereiraTerry Bean — Networking expert and speaker who taught me the 3-item Post-It daily focus technique | linkedin.com/in/terrybeanLiz M. Member Spotlight: Virtual Personal Branding Production with Lori Vajda - Ep 217
This episode features a member spotlight interview from my Marketing with Meller program featuring Lori Vajda of Sticky Brand Lab, a personal branding production company that uses conversational interviews and a virtual studio to create high-quality video, audio, and marketing assets. Lori explained how her done-for-you process removes the fear of recording solo by focusing on natural conversation and “invisible” editing, then repurposes the content into reels, carousels, downloadables, and other evergreen materials. She described her target audience as quiet, under-the-radar professionals and entrepreneurs who want to show up authentically without becoming performers, and noted the service can be used as a one-time package or ongoing retainer with a growing content reservoir. She also outlined her TWIG method (turning your wisdom into growth) for uncovering roots, core themes, and story-based content, and shared that people can connect with her on LinkedIn or via stickybrandlab.com to follow up.00:00 Podcast Intro and CTA01:32 Why Member Spotlights02:26 Meet Lori Vajda03:08 Sticky Brand Lab Explained04:49 Why This Service Exists07:22 Packages and Content Strategy09:30 TWIG Storytelling Method11:51 Retainers and Client Fit15:12 Lori Career Backstory18:46 Member Q&A Session26:20 How to Work With Lori27:43 Wrap Up and Community Thanks29:20 Upcoming Program EventsJoin Marketing with Meller: https://www.mellermarketing.com/joinSupport the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. Why (and How) I Recommend a Public Membership Directory -- Ep 216
How My Public Membership Directory Promotes Members and Simplifies ReferralsIn this episode, I explains why I created a public membership directory at mellermarketing.com/directory to systematically refer clients to trusted members when asked for services I don’t provide (e.g., career strategy, resume writing, SEO). The directory helps spotlight members and serves as an easy resource for visitors to find the right referral. I explain how (and why) I collect member details using Kajabi’s Assessments tool, including permission to use a LinkedIn headshot, three short service/topic descriptions, and one web link, then reviews submissions before adding them to a three-column, first-name alphabetical webpage with occasional “This could be you” filler graphics. I also periodically nudge members to submit their info to join the directory, by promoting upcoming LinkedIn “Marketing Monday” features and an email blast to my VIP list, and notes the directory is a benefit for members of her two communities: The Recipe for Social Selling on LinkedIn and Marketing with Meller.00:00 Welcome and Overview01:09 Why a Directory Exists03:12 Building the Intake Form04:57 Publishing and Organizing Entries06:15 Getting Members Featured07:06 Two Communities Explained08:03 Public Page Best Practices08:33 Bonus Link and Wrap UpSupport the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. New LinkedIn Company Page Feature - Create Short Video Clips Ep 215
In this episode, I share a repurposed YouTube walkthrough, demonstrating a newly noticed LinkedIn company page Event Management feature that lets admins edit event recordings and create short-form clips. Using my Meller Marketing LinkedIn company page, I walk through how to navigate to the Events tab with upcoming and past events. I then open a recent livestream, and use the in-platform editor to trim off the first three minutes with no audio due to microphone issues. I then test “Create event clips,” save a short clip, locate it under saved clips, and show how to post or download it, noting captions aren’t perfect and that burned-in captions require other tools like Descript. I also review options like boosting events, viewing registrations, and following up with attendees.00:00 Podcast Intro Setup01:18 Livestream Basics Delay02:00 Company Page Discovery03:37 Events Tab Overview05:27 Editing Event Recording06:10 Trimming Audio Issues08:51 Create Event Clips11:41 Boost And Results13:37 Follow Up Attendees14:55 Find Post Saved Clips17:33 Wrap Up And Next StepsFull YouTube Episode: https://youtu.be/EfAl3qpTuYg Support the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. How to Repurpose LinkedIn Lives as Podcasts with Jon Gay - Ep 214
Repurposing LinkedIn Lives Into Your Podcast with Jon GayAs I was thinking about what to publish this week, I decided to go to my "Vault" containing a few years of LinkedIn Live interviews, and where better to start than this episode, featuring podcast producer Jon Gay who shares strategy tips about converting past LinkedIn Live videos into a podcast and why the advice still matters. Jon explains the basics of turning video into audio, why audio can be more intimate and memorable than video, and how podcasts create long-term, evergreen ROI. He covers key production tips: using a dynamic mic like the Samson Q2U instead of a Blue Yeti, recording in a sound-friendly space, doing a mic check, what to avoid drinking before a show (dairy/carbonation), staying close to the mic, and managing notifications. He compares Zoom with local-recording platforms, discusses editing options (including Descript), and outlines hosting, RSS feeds, distribution to Apple/Spotify/YouTube, promotion tactics, and respecting audience time. Your LinkedIn Questions: Real Estate Marketing, Cancelling LinkedIn Premium, Podcast Marketing, and the New "Get Advice From Me" Feature on LinkedIn - Ep 213
I answer five community questions about LinkedIn and share how I repurpose Q&As into a podcast, blog, and YouTube video while keeping askers anonymous.First, I explain that even without deep industry experience (like real estate), the key is understanding audience mindset on LinkedIn and optimizing a profile to clearly describe services and provide a path to do business. Next, I advise canceling LinkedIn Premium if its features aren’t being used, and I note the premium tools I find most valuable, including profile views, personalized invite notes, and the away message. I then explain how to block or report irrelevant or offensive promoted ads. I also outline ways to capitalize on being tagged in a post that boosted podcast listens by commenting, reposting, linking directly, and networking with others mentioned. Finally, I discuss LinkedIn’s new paid consultation link "Get Advice from Me" -- a feature for Premium Business, why it may be intended to drive upgrades, and why it may not convert well compared to other profile link placements.00:00 Community Q&A Intro01:11 Real Estate LinkedIn Tips04:33 Profile Refresh Masterclass05:04 Canceling Premium06:19 Premium Features Breakdown08:36 Blocking Offensive Ads11:17 Podcast Shoutout Spike15:30 Get Advice Button21:04 Wrap Up and ContactSupport the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. Member Spotlight: 1-to-1 Coaching with Elaine Belson - Ep 212
Overthinking can look like “being responsible,” but it often feels like you’re stuck in your own head with no exit. We’re putting the spotlight on Elaine Belson, a self-authority coach, speaker, psychotherapist, and Army veteran, to talk about what really helps when you’re hard on yourself, constantly second-guessing, or relying on other people’s reactions to feel OK.Elaine breaks down her one-to-one coaching, including a 60-minute mindset reset and a 90-minute deep dive (plus discounted multi-session packages). We dig into the patterns that keep women trapped in self-criticism and people pleasing, and why building self-authority means learning to trust your instincts, set boundaries without looking for permission, and practice self-validation instead of using others as mirrors. You’ll hear memorable frameworks you can actually use: overthinking is like chocolate cake (comforting, but not a solution), the six types of overthinking, and why emotions are information just like hunger or pain. Elaine also shares the “Columbo” approach to growth (curious, not judgmental) and a powerful reframe for boundaries she calls the opposite of the golden rule. We even get into her story of joining the Army at 42 and what that says about choosing a bigger impact. If you want practical mindset coaching, emotional intelligence tools, and a clearer path to confident decisions, this conversation will give you a solid starting point. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s stuck in overthinking, and leave a review to help more people find the show. 00:00 Member Spotlight Intro01:37 Meet Elaine Belson03:02 Elaine’s Background Mantras04:28 One to One Coaching Offer04:43 Who It’s For and How It Helps07:13 How Clients Find and Book09:45 Who It’s Not For10:38 Audience Q and A Stories14:16 Trends Overthinking Chocolate Cake16:10 Army Veteran Story Barbie Moment22:57 Self Validation and Mirroring25:48 Wrap Up Links and Community Events30:08 Final Thanks and CloseConnect with Elaine on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/elainebelsonlcsw/Visit Elaine's website:https://www.theselfauthoritycoach.com/Support the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. Charge for Your Expertise: Knowing Which Wire to Cut - Ep 208
Someone asks for your rate and suddenly your brain starts negotiating against you. I’ve been there, and I’m sharing the stories that changed how I price my work as an enthusiastically self-employed consultant, coach, and LinkedIn trainer. We start with the core truth behind value-based pricing: clients are not paying you to “cut the wire.” They’re paying you to know which wire to cut, and that comes from years of experience, pattern recognition, and results.I walk through how my LinkedIn coaching evolved from a $150 in-person session into a $750 VIP coaching package built for real implementation, including recorded sessions, a profile resource guide, and an accountability call. I also talk about what it feels like to raise rates, how to present a clean offer ladder during discovery calls, and why a done-for-you service should cost more when it demands deep focus and intensive time. Then we get into the messy parts: the moment a prospect told me my training cost “more than our lawyers,” how that objection stuck with me, and how I’d handle it now. We also dig into client boundaries, scope creep, and the “pain in the” clients who drain your energy. Finally, we talk about AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini, why their advice can be outdated, and why expert access is becoming the real premium in coaching and consulting. If you want more confidence in your pricing strategy and a healthier relationship with your time, press play.Subscribe, share this with a self-employed friend who’s undercharging, or message me on LinkedIn with the biggest pricing challenge you’re facing right now.Support the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. Aligning Your Personal Brand With Your Personal Image w Andrea Walker Leidy - Ep 205
Listen to this playback of an interview with Andrea Walker Leidy about Aligning Your Personal Brand with Your Personal Image. As you're listening, you may notice some "quality" issues with my microphone, Restream, and audio-delay issues that caused occasional talking-over. I decided to publish on the podcast anyway, to be transparent and because Andrea’s advice is so valuable! Andrea Walker-Leidy is a Michigan-based PR and communications professional and founder of Walker Publicity, who helps people and organizations identify and share their stories through PR, social media, and branding. She has expanded into personal branding and style through her project Look On Purpose after clients repeatedly asked what to wear. We discuss aligning personal image with brand by doing self-discovery, focusing on how you want people to feel, removing “should” from getting dressed, embracing consistent signature choices, and auditing/purging closets based on what you actually wear, including donating or swapping items. Andrea shares how she handles on-camera wardrobe guidance, invites LinkedIn connections, and outlines her services.00:00 Episode Setup and Audio Notes01:37 Meet Andrea Walker Leidy05:11 Why Personal Image Matters08:19 Ditch the Should Wear Rules13:24 Closet Audit and Purge Plan15:32 Thrifting and Clothing Swap Idea16:51 Swap Your Closet Finds17:54 Thrifting Saves Money18:56 Style Questions Sparked20:31 Closet Consult Process21:27 Membership Best Friend22:51 Tech Glitches and Q&A25:49 PR Styling on Camera28:18 Connect on LinkedIn30:19 Services and Offerings31:53 Final Brand TakeawaysConnect with Andrea: https://www.linkedin.com/in/walkerpr/Support the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller. Spinach in Your Teeth: Feedback That Protects Your Business - Ep 204
Spinach in Your Teeth: How to Give (and Receive) Helpful Feedback That Protects Your BusinessWhile at brunch with my Aunt Linda and sister Lisa, where my aunt tells me I have spinach in my teeth. I cannot make this up. This reminds me of my saying that a good friend points out “spinach in your teeth,” and how this can apply to things like broken email links, outdated web info, confusing checkout pages, voice-to-text typos, and LinkedIn post mistakes.I share why I prefer giving feedback privately and asking permission if I don’t know someone well. I also describe messaging my friend and client Wendy Schoen about a possible typo that turned out to be correct. I also recount a Kajabi coupon-code setup mistake that accidentally gave 100% off (which would have been a $2,500 error!) instead of $67 off, how someone alerted me, and how I rewarded him with an autographed book. How to Get a Bigger Slice of the Podcasting Pie w/ Kendra Corman - Ep 203
In this episode, I’m joined by my friend and frequent podcast collaborator, marketer Kendra Corman of KendraCorman.com. Note: my audio is a bit off due to microphone issues at the time of recording (Nov 2025), which have since been fixed. We discuss how to get a bigger slice of the podcasting pie, including why podcasting creates stronger personal connection and “know, like, trust,” how AI can support podcasting processes without replacing human connection, and why podcasting is a less crowded space than many other channels.Kendra shares tips for starting and growing a podcast: start now if you’re considering it, choose a podcast name carefully (and uniquely), and keep your show’s focus narrow enough to be clear but broad enough to sustain content. We also talk about using podcasting to grow an email list and generate clients, with Kendra explaining she sells more through email follow-up than directly on the podcast and uses Buzzsprout tools like dynamic intro/outro content to promote specific offers when needed.Kendra outlines ways to increase listeners: include guest episodes so guests share with their audiences, clearly target who you’re speaking to, and publish consistently (often every 10–14 days, with weekly also common). We talk about publishing day choices, episode length (Kendra keeps episodes to 30 minutes or less), and avoiding overly rigid, scripted interviews in favor of conversation and active listening. Kendra also explains her batch recording approach—recording multiple guest episodes mainly on Mondays to build momentum and reduce scheduling and prep time.We close with how to connect with Kendra on LinkedIn or at KendraCorman.com, where she offers one-on-one coaching, podcasting courses a couple times a year, and an AI bootcamp. Kendra asks for no “pitch slaps” and encourages relationship-building first. Her podcast is called Imperfect Marketing, available on YouTube and all podcast platforms. I encourage viewers to share the episode on LinkedIn and highlight what they learned.00:00 Welcome Back + ‘No More Free for Free’ (and today’s guest Kendra Corman)01:23 Going Live on Multiple Platforms (Restream, comments, where to watch)02:59 Meet Kendra Corman: What She Does & Who She Helps04:49 Why Podcasting Wins in the AI Era: Connection, Trust & Standing Out06:52 Nailing Your Podcast Name + Using AI Tools to Brainstorm08:09 Get Focused: Defining Your Podcast Themes & Audience11:03 Monetizing Without Being Salesy: CTAs, Email Lists & Dynamic Intros14:27 Interviewing Better: Keep It Conversational (Not Robotic)17:19 Grow Your Listener Base: Guests, Targeting & Consistency23:09 Repurposing Content + Batch Recording to Save Time26:36 Wrap-Up: How to Connect with Kendra + Final ‘Start Today’ AdviceConnect with Kendra on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kendracorman/ Watch this on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/live/V5zZ_kaaQIQ?si=LefZHJ3XzM3trTJt?sub_confirmation=1Support the show**************************************My name is Brenda Meller.
