Your Brother’s Keeper: Why Your Welfare Shouldn’t Be Your Mission

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Luke 13 today. If everything in your life is going great, should we be ok with that? The safest place to be in the middle of a huge hurricane is in the eye. But outside of that is total destruction and chaos. God hasn’t called us just to be safe and content for our entire lives. If we’re doing ok, someone else isn’t, and God wants us to help others. The goal as Christians isn’t to improve for our sake, it’s to improve for the sake of the Kingdom. The world is getting worse day by day, and God wants to use us to expand His kingdom and to glorify Himself. He still wants what’s best for us, but you aren’t the only member of His kingdom. This week, step outside of your comfort zone, and help out wherever the Holy Spirit tells you.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Last Sacrifice: Jesus Is Enough

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Hebrews 10 today. When you become a Christian, is it ok to keep sinning because Jesus’ blood covered them? Of course not. When we enter into a relationship with Him, the Holy Spirit should drive out our evil conscience. Being a Christian doesn’t mean living the same life you did before you were saved, but having a relationship with the creator, and being obedient to what it is that He wants you to do. Accepting God’s grace offers us peace, even if we screw up sometimes. This doesn’t guarantee we will be safe from the chaos of the world, but it does guarantee that lives will be changed as a result. We don’t have to sacrifice anything for the sake of our salvation, that cheapens what Jesus did for us on the Cross. If the Holy Spirit asks you to give up something, do it because He loves you.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Jesus Is The Good Shepherd, Who Are You Following?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 10 today. Have you ever been called a sheep for blindly following something or someone? The truth is, we are all sheep. The difference comes down to who our shepherd is. Some follow the lies of the world, run by the enemy that only wants to steal, kill, and destroy. And that enemy isn’t physical, it’s a spiritual enemy. So instead, follow the good shepherd, Jesus, that wants what’s best for us and gives us life. He can offer you a peace and love that this world can’t offer. Who will you choose to follow this week? “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. All About Jesus: Where Are Your Priorities?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 2 today. Who are we living for? Jesus died for our sins, and we have grace right? That doesn’t give us a license to sin and live for ourselves. The world is frustrating, and full of temptations. It’s easy to only focus on our own circumstances and keep our heads down. But that’s not a relationship. If Jesus felt the same way towards us, we would be in trouble. Our Christian lives should be lived in a way that benefits others and glorifies Jesus, rather than a way that only benefits us. So who or what are you living for? “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. We Are Barabbas: What Freedom In Christ Really Means

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. Happy Resurrection Day. We will be in John 8 today. What Jesus did for us on the cross gave us freedom. But I don’t think many of us realize just what that means. We aren’t free TO sin, we are free FROM sin. While none of us will be perfect in this life, nothing that we will do will cause us to stop sinning. Only the power of Jesus can truly free us from the bondage of sin. This freedom brings about peace, even in the midst of the chaos and hardship in this life. You could be experiencing Hell on Earth, but because of the blood of Jesus, you will have a peace and a joy that the enemy can’t touch. Christ has set us free indeed, and if you don't feel free, just look at the truth. Don't listen to the lies of this world that enslave us, but instead, run to the freedom that is in Christ, because he paid a high price for it. The Resurrection Story: An Easter Eggsplanation

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. This week’s message was a little different as it was mostly for the kids, but it still applies to everyone. Every year, we use a dozen Easter eggs that each contain a small item used to explain the story of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. While the story itself is simplified for children to understand, it’s a powerful story that changed everything. What Jesus did for us on the cross not only freed us from the chains of sin, but restored us with the Father that was previously separated by sin. We now have salvation through Christ, and the hope of eternity in Heaven. Easter is more than just eggs, it's a celebration of what Jesus accomplished for our sake. Know Faithfulness, Know Peace. No Faithfulness, No Peace

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 1 today, which is one of the many letters that this greeting comes from each week. Paul gave this blessing to anyone who reads this, but where does this peace come from? There’s so much going on right now between wars, economic uncertainty, and personal circumstances that makes peace appear to be impossible. But there is a peace in Christ that passes all understanding, and that peace comes when we are faithful. By keeping His commandments, sharing His word, and receiving His grace, we could be living a Hell on Earth, and still have Heaven on our mind. Without Jesus, this type of peace is impossible, and there is no hope. But the hope that we have in Christ that guarantees an eternity in Heaven offers us a peace that no world leader, financial expert, or social media influencer could ever offer. If you haven’t already, receive Jesus today, and receive the peace that He offers.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Loving Unconditional: How We Treat Our Neighbors Is Important For The Gospel

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 4 today. Are there people in your life that are unloveable? Maybe that one coworker that gets under your skin, some random guy that cuts you off in traffic, or the older gentleman taking forever in the ATM line. How we treat these people is important for them to receive Christ. Yes, these encounters will cause suffering, but if we can extend grace to them and love them regardless of how we are treated, then our testimony will be that much more powerful. Our reactions can determine how they receive the Gospel and bring about real change in this broken and fallen world. This week, how can you bless someone else with your hospitality?“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Do This In Remembrance Of Me: The Seriousness Of Communion

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 11 today. Scripture has given the church 2 ordinations. The first is baptism, which we carry out a few times per year. The second one is the Lord’s Supper AKA communion. When we take communion, as scripture says, we do this to remember Him, to remember what He did and what He went through on our behalf. He was beaten horribly, whipped, stabbed, spat on, and suffocated on a cross all so that we could receive salvation. Communion is to be taken seriously, because the sacrifice was serious. So each time we take the Lord's supper, reflect on the things that you struggle with, the sins that you have committed, and reconcile that with the Lord. We don’t have to be perfect, but we are asked to be repentant and obedient. If you haven’t placed your trust in Jesus, today is the day of salvation. If you are a believer, be sure that you don’t take communion in an unworthy manner because there are real life consequences.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. God Gave You A Gift, And Your Church Family Is Depending On It

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 12 today. A lot of us have worked at a job that has given us special privileges and access to things that are to be used at work, but you wouldn’t be allowed to use them for personal gain. That’s how spiritual gifts work. Each of us has been given one or more gifts, and the expectation is that we use those gifts for the benefit of the Kingdom. The truth is that our spiritual gifts are needed for the benefit of others, and if we are being selfish with our gifts, or not utilizing them entirely, then the rest of the Church body suffers. We celebrate with each other when good things happen, and mourn for one another in times of loss. God gave you your spiritual gifts for a special purpose, and whatever purpose that may be, it should be to help the Church family, because they are in need of it.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. God Has Made Us Strong In Our Weakness, And That’s Something To Boast About

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 2 Corinthians 12 today. How often do you brag about your accomplishments? It’s human nature to pat ourselves on the back for even the smallest things. But if we are relying on this strength alone, we won’t get far. Paul boasted in his weakness, because he relied on Christ for strength. If we are going to brag, it should be about what Christ did for us, not about what we did for Christ. Why do you think that God made us so weak? Because if we were strong like God, we wouldn’t need Him. You may be weak, but God calls you worthy. Humble yourself to Him, keep seeking God, and He will make you strong.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Your Tongue Is The Most Dangerous Part Of Your Body

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in James 3 today. Just how dangerous is your tongue? If you’ve ever said something in front of a group of people, and they get upset, can you un-say it? And what then if things escalate to physical violence? All because of something you said. The tongue can sing praises to God, pray over people, and deliver words of encouragement, but it can also curse, bring judgement, and insult others. Just like fire brings warmth and light, it can also burn down and destroy. Because of that, we are (hopefully) careful how we handle fire. As Christians, we should also be careful how we use our tongue. This week, are you going to passive aggressively insult your coworkers, argue with the customer service rep on the phone, and yell at the kids playing in front of your house, or are you going to encourage your coworkers, be polite with customer service, and let the kids play? This week, choose to speak how Jesus would speak.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Large Millstone: Our Selfish Choices Have Real Life Consequences

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 18 today. None of us are perfect. Everyday, we matrix dodge temptations, and we will struggle, stumble, and fall down sometimes. But when our actions end up causing others to stumble or struggle, watch out. God uses us through our daily lives to accomplish His will, and we have the power to save souls, or push them away. Our desire in life should always be to build up, and never to destroy. Whether we realize it or not, we are witnessing to the world, a living testimony, and how we interact with others each day will either save souls, or condemn them. There is grace and forgiveness, but at the same time, we will answer to God for our selfishness. Make wise choices this week.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Sanctification: Sin Just Gets In The Way Of Everything

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Hebrews 11 and 12 today. The people we read about in the Bible share their stories of their faith, and how God's promises were fulfilled in their lives. But their lives weren't perfect, and neither are ours. We all have one thing in common and that's sin. God doesn't want us to repent for the purpose of our sins for the purpose of salvation, we can't do that, that's what Jesus was sent for. We are supposed to repent, because the sins of this world get in the way of the blessings of God. When we become Christians, we enter into a relationship with the creator, and sin just gets in the way of that relationship. When we do sin, we may end up being disciplined by God, but it's because He loves us and wants what's best for us. What Did You Go Out To See?: Everything Wrong With Our Christian Lifestyle

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 11 today. If you are a believer in Christ, you are going to go through hell on earth. But that doesn’t mean you should live like hell. Every time you encounter a situation that tests your faith, patience, or just makes you angry, you will likely be tempted to respond negatively. How did Jesus react? He turned the other cheek, forgave sin, and was focused on the kingdom. So if you want to follow Christ, you have to live like Him. If someone flips you off in traffic, you should pray for them. If someone leaves a mean comment on facebook or tiktok, ask Jesus how you should respond. They are just as in need of Jesus as we are. In our everyday life, our focus should be on the mission, rather than our own comfort. But if life is getting too difficult, run to Jesus, and not to anything the world has to offer.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Pressing Toward The Goal: Moving On From Our Own Abilities

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Philippians 3 this morning. How far have your accomplishments gotten you in life? I myself have singlehandedly produced a podcast, run most of the technical stuff for our church, and from a vocational perspective, can professionally operate just about any vehicle safely. But these accomplishments and skills are useless when it comes to my salvation. No amount of computer knowledge or machine operating skills will get me to heaven. Our focus shouldn’t be what we can do for the Kingdom, but what God can accomplish through us. By standing by our own abilities, we only glorify ourselves, and accomplish very little. Walk in humility, move on from what you can do, and look forward to what He can do.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Hivemind: Christianity Isn’t About You

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Philippians 2 this morning. Every day when you wake up, who is the first person on your mind? If you're like most people, it's yourself. Wake up, probably use the bathroom, shower, breakfast, leave for work, put in 8 hours, clock out and go home, and then more time for yourself right? How much time in this 24 hour period do we spend focused on others, whether it be their earthly needs or their eternal needs? As members of the Church, we should be working together naturally to accomplish the same goal, but most just keep to themselves, choosing to self-serve rather than self-sacrifice. Your suffering should result in transformed lives and saved souls, and not in your own destruction. We are all going to suffer, it’s how we suffer that makes all of the difference.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Steps To Obedience: Why We Should Be Investing In Our Eternity

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Psalm 81 today, as well as a few other places in the new testament. Life is full of decisions. We can decide to do things that only satisfy ourselves, whether it be drinking, drugs, porn, binge watching our favorite shows, or just withdrawing from the world in general. And while some of these things aren’t necessarily sinful, the world will teach us that sin is ok, and that it’s normal. But when these things are keeping us from sharing the Gospel, whether in action or by example, it has eternal impacts. Our life in comparison to eternity is very short, and we don’t know when we will take our last breath. Consequently, our friends, family, coworkers, and anyone we interact with may only hear the Gospel from us. Be obedient, surrender to Him, and start investing in eternity.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Best News Ever: Celebrating The Real Christmas In 2025

Greetings everyone, and Merry Christmas to all of you. We will be in Luke 2 today. What have we made Christmas about? Food? Family? Gifts? With that comes the dread that everyone faces. The amount of money spent on those gifts, the amount of time spent on food preparation, the stress that goes into traveling here and there, and then after everything is done and over with, we're all exhausted, and barely any time is left for what Christmas is supposed to be about. I'm not saying any of that is necessarily a bad thing, but if celebrating the birth of Christ has only become an afterthought, then maybe we need to do Christmas differently this year. This Christmas let's all reflect on what Christ came to accomplish, and give thanks to Him for that because He deserves to be celebrated.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 13 today. What does it look like to serve? Jesus showed us what it looks like to serve selflessly by washing the disciple’s feet, and explains humility. Yet at the same time, we see Satan entering Judas to selfishly betray Jesus for money. Our capacity to serve and love one another should be just as Jesus loved us. That’s a pretty high standard, and none of us will come close to that, but that’s what grace is for. It’s not going to be easy, even Peter messed up as soon as he was away from Jesus, and the same thing happens to us. That’s why our individual relationships are so important. The church needs one another to serve and humble one another, because without humility, the Gospel will be ineffective.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Too Inwardly Focused: What It Means To Be On Mission

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 9 today. As Christians, where should our focus in the church be? A lot of believers are selfishly focused on what's going on within the four walls of the church, and are either turning a blind eye to or judging the world. Why are we attacking the lost for being lost? Why are we surprised, angry, or upset when a sinner sins? They are in more need of Jesus than we are. We all won't be out in the mission fields, but we can still support those missions in other capacities. Whether it be by giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, giving to a different local mission, or even just being compassionate and understanding to those all around us, we all have a part to play, and we can do better.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. No Excuses: How Our Ungratefulness Results In Sin

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be Romans 1 today. What does it mean to be faithful? For Christians, having faith doesn’t just mean believing. You could believe in a specific cause or movement, yet if you don’t care enough to invest in it, it won’t get anywhere. You can believe in God, yet if you don’t care enough to acknowledge Him as part of your life and be grateful for what He has done for us, you may as well be like the lost. Creation itself declares the existence of God, but just believing isn't enough. God wants us to glorify Him by being obedient, and by giving thanks to Him through prayer. If you aren’t acknowledging God for who He is, you will end up willfully choosing to do exactly what He commanded us not to. Spend time with Him, what’s stopping you?“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Fruit Of The Vine: What it Means To Abide In Christ

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in John 15 today. What does it mean to abide? It comes from the word “abode” which means home. To abide in Christ means that Christ is your home, that our default go-to is Christ. Jesus is our vine, and with God as the vinedresser, He expects us to produce fruit. Apart from Christ, we can’t do that. Make Christ the central part of your life, rather than an “in case of emergency”. One Body, Many Members: Working Together To Accomplish God’s Will

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 4 today. Have you ever had to talk your legs into moving to walk, or move your body without having to go through a lot of effort to do so? Then congratulations, your body is working exactly as it should. Now of course there are diseases and illnesses that cause the body to not communicate with its parts, and the body of Christ is very similar. As a church, we should be doing things together without having to even think about it. Whether it be planning mission trips, assigning weekly tasks to keep the church running, or voting on changes within the church, it should all be seamless without bickering. But as soon as we let ourselves try to do what the Holy Spirit didn’t tell us to do is when we have these communication issues, and the body breaks down. We won’t be perfect, which is where grace comes in, but we should be obedient in utilizing the spiritual gifts that God has given us.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Struggling In Silence: Why Your Prayer Life May Need Some Work

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Luke 18 today. How is your prayer life? Do you have one? Imagine having a relationship with someone, but never talking to them. That relationship typically doesn't go anywhere, and that's the same way with our relationship with God. If it doesn't seem like God is there when you need Him, perhaps try actually talking to him more than twice a year. Prayer is critical for a healthy Christian relationship, not just another box to be checked off daily. It is our communication with God, and by being in constant prayer with the Father, you will be able to receive His guidance. So if you’re struggling in life, either you’re not praying right, or not praying at all. Talk to God this week, and you may be surprised what the Father can do for you.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Our Tribulation, His Triumph: Why Suffering Can Be A Good Thing

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 5 today. For those of you who are Christians, what did you expect when you became a believer? All of the saints such as Peter, Stephen, Paul, and the early Church Martyrs suffered and died because of their faithfulness. They could have backed off when the persecution came and played it safe, but that would have meant millions of people wouldn’t have heard the Gospel. Jesus Himself suffered greatly for us so that we would receive salvation, so isn't it only fair that we should suffer a little for Him?“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Who Is My Neighbor?:Why Hospitality Matters

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Luke 10 today. The Bible teaches us to love your neighbor as yourself. Yet most people carry false pretenses about specific groups of people, or come up with justifications to harbor specific feelings. The Pharisees were famous for doing this, and Jesus saw right through it. Our purpose in life isn’t supposed to be a self righteous individual, shutting out and judging everyone else. We are called to live like Jesus, and show compassion for others that we encounter every day. If Jesus hadn’t done that, we would all be in trouble. It’s not easy to be vulnerable, and you will get hurt in the process, but the end result is worth it.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. God’s Word Is Enough: Why Tradition Shouldn’t Supercede Doctrine

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Timothy 3 today. Highland adopts a Southern Baptist denomination, but this denomination isn’t without issues. There are some churches that hold traditions that go contrary to actual scriptural doctrine. One example are the qualifications of pastors and deacons. Some people have been divorced in the past, and others have struggled with alcohol addiction. Neither of these automatically disqualifies anyone from being a pastor or a deacon. It has everything to do with how he currently conducts himself, and how he treats his wife and children. Whenever we apply additional rules as doctrine, we are basically saying God’s rules aren’t good enough, and that is wrong. God’s word is enough, we don’t need to add to it.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Reject Immorality: How The World Is Desensitizing Us To Sin

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 5 today. How much has the world desensitized you? As the world continues to get worse and worse, the Church is starting to become numb to sin going on within the Church. When you become a Christian, you are expected to struggle, but you are a new creation, and should not be the same person you used to be. So even though things are getting worse, we shouldn’t concede to that being the new normal. Stand on the truth, and don’t compromise your beliefs just because it isn’t popular.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Way Out: Christ Offers An Escape Plan From Sin

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will continue in 1 Corinthians 10 again today. We know from last week’s passage that the Israelites made many mistakes, and if we’re honest, we have made the same mistakes. As Christians, we are still fully capable of doing evil, but what makes us different is that we have the ability to choose otherwise. That doesn’t mean we will get it right every time, but just know that anything we put before God is just a cheap imitation that will have no lasting satisfaction. Because at the end of the day, it’s all about Jesus.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Flee From Idolatry: Stop Grumbling and Start Humbling

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 10 today. Do you ever complain when you don’t get your way? I’m sure most of us have (I know I have). Maybe your paycheck wasn’t as big this week as you thought it would be, or maybe the coffee machine at the gas station was out. Or maybe half of your coworkers called out and you had to do extra work. Now these are valid modern problems, but our grumblings go back a long time, even to the Israelites. They complained about not having enough to eat, or limited choices, and as a result, a lot of them got sick and died. Our circumstances might not be as extreme, but if we’re relying on our own strength or modern comforts to get us through the day rather than rely on God, that’s idolatry. Life is gonna suck sometimes, and God knows that. So rather than repeat the mistakes of the Israelites and struggle through life, surrender it all to him, and trust in His promises.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Fighting For God’s Blessing: Why You Should Wrestle With The Creator

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Genesis 32 today. Sometime after Jacob moved his family, he wrestled with a man that ended up being God. Many of us wrestle God every day, but for the wrong reason. When Jacob wrestled with God, he wanted to be blessed with what God promised him, rather than wrestling to have God leave him alone. Whether you wrestle with him to take away past addictions, cut off toxic relationships, or to endure the hardships of this world, our struggle with God should bring us closer to Him.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Truth May Get You Killed, Are You Ready?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 2 Timothy 4 today. Can we all agree it’s been a rough week? Most of the country is grieving, the enemy is rejoicing, and a lot of people are lost and don’t know what to do next. If you are seeking vengeance, just know that Charlie Kirk is now a Martyr, and God will avenge the evil that has come upon us. Any one of us could be next, but now is not the time to hide, or to hold hatred, because that doesn’t save souls. This is why Paul tells Timothy to be ready in season and out of season. Now is the time to step out in faith and share the truth, even if it kills us. Are you ready for it?“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Buried With Christ: Understanding What It Takes To Be Baptized

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Acts 8 today. How many of you have been baptized? Many were " baptized” as a baby by sprinkling, but that doesn't do anything to save your soul. If our goal is to just baptize people, then all we're doing is giving everyone a bath without cleaning their spirit. Baptism doesn't save you, but what Jesus did for us does. So if you want to be baptized, you need to receive Jesus first and allow him to save you. The baptism is just a symbolic statement of faith. If you're ready to receive Jesus, what are you waiting for? Tomorrow is not guaranteed.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Inheriting A Blessing: Sharing Or Sinning?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 3 today. If you are a believer in Christ, is it ok to intentionally sin? Afterall, Christ’s sacrifice covers all sins. NO!!! Even though we are still saved regardless, choosing to sin still affects those around us. When we come to be believers in Christ, our lives should transform, and our actions are supposed to be intentional for the purpose of others being saved. If we choose to do and speak evil things, we don’t stand a chance for others to listen to us. But if our actions reflect Christ's actions, people will take notice, and lives will change forever. We are inheriting a blessing, will you choose to use that blessing for the salvation of others, or so that you can keep on sinning?“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Get Ready To Suffer: Why Playing It Safe Doesn’t Save Souls

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Peter 1 today. Who likes to suffer? If you’re a normal human, nobody likes to suffer. But as a Christian, if you are being faithful, suffering is pretty much a guarantee. All too often, we avoid suffering, but when we play it safe, others miss the opportunity to hear the Gospel. We aren’t supposed to be comfortable, and if that’s your goal in life, perhaps you’re not listening to the Holy Spirit. Life is going to be difficult, but when souls are saved as a result of your faithfulness, the suffering is worth it.Don’t forget to pray for and encourage one another. As a reminder, members can donate online at tithe.ly, or through the tithe.ly mobile app. We have a podcast called “The Highland Gospel Mission” on Spotify, Google, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.“and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,  not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10: 24-25Are you a visitor? Be Intentional: How Our Every Day Actions Transform Lives

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 5 today. What is it that God wants you to do with your life? The answer will be different for everyone. But our actions should have purpose to the extent that others will know who Jesus is. If we keep to ourselves in the dark, the world will stay asleep and be in the dark. This world is in desperate need of Jesus, and every action that we make, big or small, will have a real world impact on other people’s lives. Be intentional, and make the most of that time, because it’s running out.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Culture Wars: Staying Faithful During The End Times

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 24 today. Have you noticed just how much the world has changed in just the past 50 years? Morals have shifted, major weather events have increased, wars are starting to pick up, just as Jesus told us. We are living in the end times, and things are going to get much more difficult for the Church. The pressure will be on for Christians, and many will give into pressure and turn away from Christ. This is when we need Christ the most. My encouragement is to stay faithful, follow His commandments, and live the life in Christ that has the power to save souls, because the world is coming for them.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Managers Of The Gospel: How The Way We Live Influences The World

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Corinthians 4 today. What does it mean to be a steward? If you’ve ever had a manager or been a manager, you would know they basically fit the definition. They are responsible for making sure things run properly, but more importantly, they are responsible for the people that look up to them. As Christians, we are managers of the Gospel in the same way. And whether we like it or not, there’s someone that we are influencing. A bad manager only considers himself, negatively influences the team, and assumes authority that isn’t his. The same thing applies to Christians that say they trust in Jesus, but refuse to give up the authority that was never theirs to begin with. Life was never promised to be easy, especially for a believer, but by trusting God, allowing Him to be the ruler in our lives, and being responsible stewards, life will be much more fulfilling.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Count It All As Loss: Our Abilities Aren't Enough, God Is

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Philippians 3 today. What are you capable of or qualified for? Maybe you’re a great speaker, savvy with money, or great with your hands. Now take those things that you are great at, and throw them out the door. God wants to fill us with qualifications even greater than we could ever achieve on our own. Trying to do it ourselves won't get us very far. Allow God to use you, and see what He can accomplish.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Called To Live Righteously: Why Fake Christianity Isn't Fooling Anyone

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 John 1 today. Have you ever lost your way? Have you ever made a mistake and committed a sin that you swore you would never do again? You're not alone. We all struggle with sin to some degree, but the difference between genuine Christianity and self righteousness is that genuine Christianity is made righteous through Jesus. God doesn't want perfect people, He wants repentant people, and genuine repentance comes through sharing our sins and struggles with trusted brothers and sisters in Christ. Don't settle for second best by putting on a show, because His grace is sufficient.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. A Strong Wind, Or A Still Small Whisper: Listening For God's Voice

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in 1 Kings 19 today. Elijah had just destroyed the prophets of Baal, yet when he received a threat from Jezebel, he got scared and hid in a cave. God boldens us, but we are still human and will have those moments of fear. It's in those moments that God often whispers to us in the most unexpected ways, rather than grab our attention through fire and fury. Remember, it's ok to not be ok, but it's not ok to stay that way. So if you're hurt, struggling, afraid, or going through something else entirely, stop, pray, and listen for Him. God is here to help you because He loves you.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Faith Without Works Isn't Faith, It's A Facade

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Matthew 25 today. Can faith save you without works? It's complicated. Faith alone is what saves you, works does not. But faith without works isn't faith, it's a facade. God gives each of us gifts, and expects us to use them, just like the servants who were expected to invest their money. So whether you receive many gifts, or receive few, be faithful in what God gives you through your works.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Our Sins Are Not The Same: Why Our Cultural Standards Shouldn't Be Our Doctrine

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Romans 14 today. Is it a sin to dance, smoke, wear a hat in church, or eat certain kinds of meat? Whether you say yes or no, you are right. A lot of sins aren't covered in the Bible, but fall under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. This doesn't mean that the answer is the same for everyone. We have to be careful not to let tradition be the judge. We should support one another through the repentance process, but if the Holy Spirit hasn't convicted a brother or sister to repent of something, then we shouldn't call them out on it. That's God's job.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Jesus Loves Us, So Why Aren't We Loving Him?

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 2 today. What does it mean to love? Love is an action, demonstrating that you care enough about someone to put their well being first. Christ did this by suffering and dying on the cross so that we could receive salvation. So why aren't we returning the favor? As Christians, we should love Christ by following His commands and loving one another. That means actually caring about others, not seeking to get even, helping people out, and doing the same things Jesus did during his ministry. God doesn't force us to be faithful, that's the gift He gave us. So let's use that gift and love one another.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. What Is Church All About? (FYI, it's Not About You)

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be in Ephesians 1 today. For those of you who attend church, what is the main reason you go? Or for those of you who aren’t into the whole “church thing”, what do you think it’s all about? Is it about how you feel? What kind of music they play? Whether or not they serve coffee? Or even down to the color of the paint on the walls, or whether they have chairs or pews, none of that matters. Because if we make church about anything other than Jesus, then we are doomed. Churches split and close over trivial things all the time. Church should be all about worshipping the one who saved our soul, and encouragement to other believers to seek and save the lost. Jesus’ sacrifice was all about you, so let’s make church all about Him.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. Grace Is Not a Get Out of Hell Free Card

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be 1 Corinthians 2 today. What does it mean to live by grace, not rules? Grace is a gift from God, but is often something to be abused. Christ gave up His life so that we could be free FROM sin, not free TOO sin. The price He paid was far to great for us to just abuse Grace. This week, we will explore how true faith in Jesus transforms our hearts, leads us by the Holy Spirit, and calls us to a life of purpose. Salvation is free—but it changes everything. How can the Gospel change your life?“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Cost of Grace and the Call to Responsibility

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be Colossians 3 today. Salvation is a gift, but grace isn’t an excuse. In this message, we explore the balance between Christ’s finished work and our ongoing responsibility as believers. It’s not about following rules—it’s about living with purpose and gratitude.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro. The Great Commission: Living Out Matthew 28

Greetings everyone, and may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. We will be Matthew 28 today. This message, again, is primarily for our members at Highland Baptist Church, but applies to anyone in the Church. Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, he gave us a commandment known as the great commission. That commandment is to go unto the world teaching all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s the verse that I reference at the end of each episode, and the entire purpose of this podcast. Our 3 main purposes as a church at Highland Baptist are Evangelism, Discipleship, and Missions. All 3 serve the same goal of seeking and saving the lost. But it isn’t our job to save people, but to share the story that can. So whether you’re a member at Highland, or a different church, the mission is the same. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 19-20Don’t forget to pray for one another, especially during these uncertain times. You can reach us at facebook.com/hbchillsboro.
