Obesity and Hopelessness : A teen's story of processed food addiction and now how Mom and Daughter are helping people change their lives .

Today, I sat down with Helene Leeds and Penelope Popken, mom and daughter who both struggled with their health and weight. In this conversation and interview with mother and daughter we discuss what lead to Penelope's struggle with weight, as she was 15 and 350 pounds and how she tried every diet, and how the quick fixes didn't help. We speak about weight loss drugs like Ozempic and how losing weight does not have to be with drugs. In the interview with Helene, we take a deep dive into her past with food and how she grew up in a home with dysfunctional eaters. Both learned that food addition is real and it was the patterns that contributed to their unhealthy lifestyle.Since Helene and Penelope have had to overcome their individual struggles with unhealthy eating and obesity, they have started the Step it Up program to help other women in their position. After failed attempts at diets, injections and pills they are on a mission to help everyone learn how to nourish their bodies more deeply to live their best life!Visit Helene and Penelope's websiteshttps://www.getstepitup.life/stepitupaccountabilitygroupCheck out Palmetto Integrative medicine as we help women with obesity, gut health and we get to the root cause of chronic disease. How to lose Body Fat over 40!

I am a mom of three, Holistic health Coach that has a passion to help women who are struggling with fatigue, nutrition to balance their hormones, habit change, becoming intutive to their bodies and helping women transform from the inside out,Are you struggling to lose body fat over the age of 40. Hormones play a role in this for sure and we can't do what we did in our 20's in our 40's. In addition, I talk about cardio and how cardio is good, but not a lot of cardio. Cardio helps us lose BF, but certain cardio like HITT training 2x's a week. Cardio like running miles only makes us lose muscle and creates our body to be in a stress state that does not help us. The more muscle we have the more Calories we burn in a resting state! In this episode, I talk about cardio, carbs, listening to your body, nourishment, fad diets, stress management and how sleep cam impact losing BF.Also, if you like this podcast, please leave a review on apple, like and share so I can help as many people as possible with their lifestyle and getting healthier.

Meal Prep why it's important and keeping it simple

Hi, I am your host, Allison Pavone, and I am a mom of 3 myself that has busy days. I am also full time Holistic Health Coach and My husband, and I own a few pizzerias so we to say we are busy is an understatement. But my health is very important to me, and it is a priority for me and my family. Meal prep is a major part of success when you are creating a lifestyle. However, most people feel overwhelmed, and they stop dead in their tracks and don't follow through. The reason for this is because I believe a lot of people overthink it and make it harder than it is. In this episode, I talk about the importance of meal prep and why if you are looking for change this is key. But I also talk about how you can meal prep and make it easier on yourself and how it will help not only you. but your family as well.If you are looking for change my 12 week program is a program that helps women learn nutrition, balance out their hormones by food choices, becoming mindful and intuitive to what the body needs, but most of all habit change occurs which is the key to lasting change. For the month of March, I am giving $150.00 off my 12 week program. Why losing weight feels so hard after 40 and why creating habit change is the only thing that works

Hi Guys, welcome back to my show and in today's episode, I break down the importance of habit change and how important it is to change your system. Habits are created overtime, and the bad ones usually stick more than the good because our brains don't work towards hard things. Our brains like comfort and they like familiarity. I have coached many people and one thing they did for change and not to revert back to old ways is by changing their habits. In this episode, I break down the three major things to help create different habits and have success over time. Awareness, trigger and action! If any of these rings true for you than you are in the right place. My entire life, I dealt with this and I created "DIET" AND DEPRIVATION" which led me into a viscous cycle of a bad relationship with food and a bad way of thinking about food.I coach women on habit change and how to have lasting success. My 12 week transformation program will transform you from the inside out! So, if you are interested, I always do a FREE discovery call to see if you're a right fit for me and I am a right fit for you. You can email me at [email protected] to set up a call.We all need accountability and we all need support! In addition, if you like this podcast, please subscribe, like and share as it helps me reach a bigger audience and I can help people from all over.

Habit Change is key to your success and why making New Years Resolutions never work.

Today's episode, I unpack how Health Coaches help people with habit change. I also talk about why New Year's Resolutions don't work and 90% of people fail. At the end of the day people know what foods to eat, but what they don't know is how to create habit change. Including me before I became a Health Coach. Partly why I became a Health Coach was to help myself and really start putting the nutrition and lifestyle changes into my own life. Applying these simple rules has helped me stay on course and improve my overall health. It has also kept me disciplined because I realized how food can nourish and be your medicine. When we feel good, we live a good life and let's be honest when we don't have our health, we don't have anything. We truly can't live the way we want. I hope that you get some tips from this podcast and you can apply them to your life. Once again, my goal is to impact as many people as possible with this show so if you can subscribe and share it grows the show and more people can benefit. You can find the show on Apple as well as Spotify.

Unpacking why 80% of people gain weight back. How to stop that viscous cycle and stop starting over.

In this episode, I unpack why 80% of people that lose weight gain it back in a year and then some. Most people pick time frame goals that do not stick maybe because once you reached that goal, you go back to what you did before or possibly didn't hit that goal and now you are discouraged. There are reasons for this as most people don't look at long term, but rather at how fast can I get to my goal forgetting that how we approach diet and lifestyle matters because it should be for life. In this episode, I talk about how to stop that viscous cycle and begin a lifestyle and what i tell my clients to focus on. Once again, if you love this podcast, please share, like and write a review as it helps my show and I can reach as many people as possible to help them with their healh journey.

How Sedentary lifestyle is just as bad as smoking and why we need to lift weights to build muscle and to keep it as we age.

A sedentary lifestyle is right up there with if you smoke. Both are really on our health and a sedentary lifestyle is actually worse. On this episode, I talk about how building muscle is key to longevity and it will be your savior, as well as why being sedentary is so dangerous for your health if you are not moving or lifting weights. In time, if we do not move our bodies, if we eat Ultra processed foods, and consume a lot of our calories in sugar drinks like Starbucks, soda and juices we will start to become insulin resistant. What this means is that your body does not recognize the insulin and you will create body fat especially belly fat which is the worst kind of fat you want. Belly fat is the number one fat that is linked to multiple chronic diseases. As we age, and our hormones shift, we can already become metabolically unhealthy which will cause multiple chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease and this is especially true if we are eating an ultra-processed diet and not doing resistance training. In this episode, I will give you tips and tricks on how to implement some things that can help you with your health overtime and not become sick. Thanksgiving Edition how to keep it healthy, tips and tricks for not overdoing it and how not to self sabotage.

The Holidays are here and they can be the most challenging time of year when it comes to keeping your lifestyle in check and not sabotaging what you have been doing, In this episode, I will give you tips and tricks on how enjoy the holiday, eat foods that taste amazing and also nourish your body. We have healthy options and actually, I feel like Thanksgiving can be really healthy and today we have so many resources to get recipes that don't take a lot of time to make. Buying organic is important as well as trying to buy a turkey that is organic and pasture raised, and you can get an Organic turkey at Wegmans, Trader Joes, Costco, or even Sprouts depending on where you are geographically located, and they won't break the bank. In fact, I have seen Organic Pasture raised turkeys at Trader Joe's for $35-40 for 10-12 people. In addition, I gave some really great recipes for side dishes and gravy. I am not a fan of store bought stuffing, gravy or cranberry sauce as they have a lot of ingredients that I cannot even read and added sugars that we do not need. As an added bonus on this episode, below you can find some links and make these easy healthy recipes yourself. Paleo or Vegan Sweet Potato Casserole (5-Star Recipe!) Gravy Made From Scratch (Chicken or Turkey) - Nourished with Jessica 3-Ingredient Cranberry Sauce - Every Last Bite This episode is about how to find that balance, but also get right back into working on your lifestyle and being consistent. If any of you have any questions, as always, you can message me on insta and I will be happy to answer any questions. As always, please, if you love this podcast, rate, and review 5 stars. It really helps the show and please share it with any friends and family. This helps get more people listening and helps me share health and wellness tips to more people. How becoming a Health Coach completely transformed me and how I created a lifestyle.

In this eye-opening episode, I talk about how I changed my yo yo diet mindset to a lifestyle. I grew up in the 80's where diet soda was healthy, and weight watchers was the thing to do. I had a bad body image and never really thought about my health. I worked out for all the wrong reasons and never really was mindful of what I ate. I learned how to become an intuitive eater. I learned how to be mindful. I now exercise for all the right reasons and know how blessed I am that I get to move my body. My exercise is my get away, my mind space and something I can't miss. I no longer think of food as the enemy. I have created a lifestyle that lasts and no longer a yo yo dieter. If this resonates with you then this podcast is one to listen to.
