Episode #67: The Season Your Are In l Ep. 3: The Build Phase

We've moved out of base. Intensity is going up, intervals are in, and stress moves to the center of the conversation.Stress isn't the enemy. The build phase runs on it. The question is whether the stress you're applying is controlled and intentional — or random and reactive. In this episode:What the build phase asks of you in sport, business, and lifeControlled stress vs. random stress, and why the distinction mattersCapacity beliefs and belief ceilings — what happens when your work outpaces what you think you can handleWhy discomfort is a signal that growth is happening, not a sign that something is wrongThe momentum trap: adding too much, dropping recovery, and how the build phase quietly turns into burnoutAdd stress. Sit in the discomfort. Grow. Then do it again.Next episode: the peak performance phase.Triathlon / Single Sport CoachingMindset CoachingAthlete Mindset CoachingInstagramAthlete Travel

Episode #66: The Season You Are In | Ep. 2: The Base Phase

Base phase doesn't get a lot of glory. No PRs to post, no breakthroughs to share — just the consistent work that everything else gets built on. That's exactly why it's the hardest phase to stay in.In this episode, we get into what the base phase actually is — in training, in business, and in life — and why so many people either skip it, shorten it, or quietly abandon it when things start to feel slow or boring. We cover:Why boredom in base phase is expected and how to stop letting it pull you off planThe comparison trap that shows up when your current fitness doesn't match your pastFuture belief work — a practical way to anchor yourself to where you're going instead of where you currently areHow to manage your energy strategically and stop spending matches you'll need laterThe difference between being behind and simply being in the right phaseBase phase isn't the waiting room. It's the season. This episode is about treating it that way.Next episode: The build phase — and why controlled stress is your friend, but random stress isn't.Triathlon/ Single Sport CoachingMindset CoachingAthlete Mindset CoachingInstagramAthlete Travel

Episode #65: The Season You Are In: You Can't Always Be Peaking | Ep. 1

In this first episode of The Season You Are In, Jennifer kicks off a brand new mini series by breaking down one of the most powerful — and overlooked — concepts in endurance sports and life: you are always in a season, whether you're paying attention to it or not.Drawing from her own recent experience racing the Black Canyon 50K on base fitness, Jennifer talks about what happens when your expectations don't match the phase you're actually in. The result? Frustration, self-judgment, and a whole lot of unnecessary suffering. In this episode, you'll learn:Why peak fitness — and peak performance in business — is meant to be temporaryHow to identify the four phases of your season: base, build, peak, and recoveryWhat the "mismatch" between where you are and where you think you should be is really costing youHow to label your season correctly and trust yourself to do the right work at the right timeWhether you're an athlete, entrepreneur, or creative, this episode will change how you measure where you are — and help you stop arguing with reality.Next episode: we're diving deep into the base phase.Mindset Coaching (Life + Business)Mindset Coaching (Athlete)Triathlon/Single Sport CoachingInstagram

Episode #64: Autopilot Patterns: What’s Really Running Your Life

You have thought patterns running your life right now that you don't even know are there. They sound like facts. They feel like identity. And they're driving your decisions, your confidence, and your results without you realizing it.In this episode, Jennifer breaks down what autopilot patterns actually are, where they come from, and why they show up as procrastination, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, fear, and playing small. I walk through the framework I use with every client to uncover these patterns, unravel them, and create new ones. And I share a real client story that shows exactly how one invisible thought pattern was quietly running someone's business decisions for 20 years. If you've been feeling stuck, frustrated, or behind — it's not a character flaw. Your autopilot button is just on.I also introduce a free resource called The Autopilot Reset that walks you through this framework step by step. Episode #63: Self-Authority, are you waiting for for permission?

In this episode, Jennifer explores a pattern that keeps high performers stuck: waiting for permission. Not because they lack skill, effort, or desire—but because decision-making has moved outside of them. This conversation breaks down what self-authority really is (and what it’s not), how permission-seeking disguises itself as “just wanting clarity,” and why spreading out responsibility can keep people looping in hesitation and overthinking.Using examples from racing, training, and real-life decision moments, Jennifer explains:How to tell the difference between seeking input and seeking permissionWhy waiting for validation feels safer but limits forward movementHow spreading responsibility reduces ownership of both success and failureWhat it looks like to bring decisions back home—without needing certaintyThis episode is for anyone who keeps circling a decision, waiting for the right signal, the right timing, or one more green light.Because at some point, no one else is there to decide for you.1:1 Mindset CoachingTriathlon/Single Sport CoachingInstagram

Episode #62: Making Goals Stick in the New Year

Why do resolutions fall apart every year, even when motivation is high?In this episode, I explain the difference between resolutions and goals and why belief, not discipline or motivation, determines whether you follow through. We’ll cover how to set goals that actually stick by anchoring them in clear outcomes, supportive beliefs, and immediate action. You’ll also learn how to turn vague resolutions into directional goals your brain can commit to.If you want 2026 to look different without burning out or beating yourself up, this episode will help you choose a direction and start moving.Need support in 2026?Mindset CoachingTriathlon/Single Sport CoachingMindset HacksFollow me on Instagram

Episode #61: Finish the Year Clean

Athletes are great at looking ahead to the next season, the next race, the next goal. But before moving forward, there’s an important step that often gets skipped: finishing the year clean. In this episode of the Finding Your Endurance Mindset podcast, Jennifer Vollmann explores why athletes don’t need more motivation to start a new season. They need closure.Unprocessed races, missed goals, comparison, and unfinished stories create emotional residue that carries from season to season and quietly impacts focus, confidence, and consistency. This episode isn’t about training plans or resolutions. It’s about clearing what athletes are still carrying so they can move into the next season lighter and more focused. If starting a new season already feels heavy, this episode offers a grounded reset before deciding what comes next.1:1 Mindset CoachingTriathlon/ Single Sport CoachingInstagram

Episode #60: Gratitude as a Performance Tool

In this episode, Jennifer breaks down gratitude as a performance strategy for athletes. Not a journal prompt. Not a feel-good concept. A mental skill that helps regulate your nervous system, steady your mind, and keep you connected to the part of you that performs under pressure.Because endurance isn’t just physical. It’s emotional, physical, and deeply mental.Inside the episode, you’ll learn:Why your brain shifts into fight-or-flight during hard training or racingHow gratitude interrupts intrusive thoughts and panic spiralsThe four gratitude pathways athletes can use in different stuck momentsHow to reconnect with logic, clarity, and your deeper “why”A simple Gratitude Performance Scan you can use after any workoutThis is mindset training that directly supports performance — especially when things get hard.If you want to build emotional endurance, mental resilience, and the ability to choose your next best step no matter what’s happening around you, this episode is for you.Coaching spots are open:If you’re ready for personalized triathlon coaching, single-sport coaching, or mindset coaching that supports the athlete you’re becoming, you can learn more at findingendurance.com/coaching.

Episode #59: IRONMAN ARIZONA pt. 6: When it all goes to Sh*t. Race Recap

This episode is the Ironman Arizona race recap — but not in the traditional sense. This is really a conversation about mindset, discomfort, and what happens when the day you trained for becomes a different kind of race than the one you expected. From the very first mile of the run, I knew it wasn’t going to turn around. My legs felt heavy, my hip flared up, and my brain was loud. For the whole marathon, I had to decide — again and again — which part of me was going to be in charge. In this episode, I talk about:• The moment you realize “this is what I have today”• How to accept reality without giving up possibility• The difference between pain and the story you tell about it• What to do when the majority of your brain wants to tap out• How to stay in the race without attaching meaning to every negative thought• Why endurance is built in the dark places, not the easy onesI also share how I disconnected from time and miles, how I kept myself in the fight, and why choosing not to be surprised by discomfort is one of the most powerful mindset tools you can use — in racing and in life. The result was a 27-minute Ironman PR on a day that didn’t feel good at all.If you’re in a season that feels harder than it “should,” this episode will help you find your way through it.1:1 Mindset CoachingTriathlon/Single Sport Coaching

Episode #35: Scared and Doing It Anyway: Fear and Big Dreams

Big goals are exciting—but let’s be real, they’re also terrifying. Fear is a natural part of the process, but it doesn’t have to hold you back. In this episode, I dive into the messy, uncomfortable, and totally normal fear that shows up when we dream big—and share the tools you need to navigate it. You’ll learn: • Why fear is not the problem—it’s the thoughts behind it. • How to find balanced evidence to support your dreams, not just your doubts. • A simple mindset shift to reframe fear and keep moving forward. • Why taking fear to its “final conclusion” can disarm it completely. I also share my personal experience preparing for the Himalayan Extreme Triathlon—my biggest, scariest goal yet—and how I’m using these tools to tackle the fear that comes with it. If you’ve ever questioned whether you’re “ready” for a big dream or felt stuck in self-doubt, this episode is for you. 2025 Travel/Adventures: https://www.findingendurance.com/travel Mindset coaching: https://www.findingendurance.com/life-coaching Tri/Single Sport coaching: https://www.findingendurance.com/triathlon-coaching IG: https://www.instagram.com/jennifervollmann/

In this episode, Jennifer shares one of the simplest yet most transformative tools for self-talk: the word “yet.” As the holidays approach—a season of joy, but also potential self-judgment—Jennifer dives into how this small word can disarm self-doubt, reframe negative thoughts, and create space for growth and possibility. Episode #32: Building Belief: How One Athlete Transformed His Ironman Journey

In this episode, I share the story of my athlete John, who went from a first-time Ironman finisher to qualifying for the World Championships at Ironman Arizona—PR’ing by over 3 hours in just 7 months. John’s journey is proof that belief isn’t something you wait for—it’s something you build. When he started, John didn’t see himself as a competitive athlete. But through consistent training, mindset work, and a willingness to embrace discomfort, he became the athlete he always had the potential to be. This isn’t just a story about triathlon. It’s about the power of mindset, trusting the process, and staying open to the possibility of becoming more than you see right now. 💡 Key Takeaways from the Episode: • Why belief is built through evidence, not hope. • How to borrow belief from others (like a coach) when yours isn’t fully there yet. • The importance of trusting the process, especially when stepping into discomfort. • Why mindset is as critical as training in achieving your full potential. John’s transformation wasn’t just physical—it was mental. By the end of Ironman Arizona, he wasn’t just racing; he became the athlete he always had the potential to be. Whether you’re chasing a PR, striving for a new milestone, or tackling something big in life, this episode will inspire you to go all in and start building belief in what’s possible. Episode #31: Let your yes be yes

Do you let your yes be yes? Do you go all in on big goals not just when it is easy but when it is hard, when it takes weeks, months, or years to achieve? Saying yes to something isn't just about ticking off a box. It is doing what it takes with effort, intensity, and focus that is required to make it a yes. In this episode, Jennifer talks about how you can let your yes be yes and build that pattern and trust with yourself so when you say you are going all in, you go all in! Episode #29: Validating Core Beliefs Kona Style

The Men's Ironman World Championships was a sufferfest and a day of core belief validation. When you race, you have the choice of which core self-beliefs you validate. Do you validate beliefs that make you stronger or ones that restrict you? Watching friends and athletes race in Kona last week, it was so clear to see the athletes that validated beliefs that made them stronger ones that made them weaker. When shit gets real, you have a choice to decide which of your core beliefs you want to validate, and that choice matters! Episode #28: The Comfort Container

Do you live in a Comfort Container? A comfort container is when you limit what you allow yourself to experience to limit your exposure to intense feelings you are afraid of experiencing. The problem is when you limit your experiences to avoid "negative" feelings, you limit your experiences of "positive" feelings, too. The comfort container is proportional. When you are in your comfort container, you might feel safe, but often, it leads to being stuck, meh, and spinning your wheels. It blocks new possibilities and will keep you from reaching and achieving your big goals. Jennifer shares more about the comfort container and how to let it go in this episode. 2025 Adventure Travel: https://www.findingendurance.com/travel Coaching: https://www.findingendurance.com/coaching Mindset Plans: https://www.findingendurance.com/mindsetplans Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jennifervollmann/

Episode #25: Imposter syndrome and racing - IM World Championships Race Mindset

Jennifer discusses how to build your mindset going into a challenge that pushes you outside the “comfort box” and when faced with imposter syndrome. It is totally normal to have feeling of unworthiness and thoughts of being an imposter before we take on something big, like a world championship race, or a new sport, or setting a big goal in business.  The problem is when you keep the thoughts of being an imposter on repeat and take action from unworthiness. The result will be you proving to yourself you do not belong there. And that doesn't get you anywhere! I talk about more ways to break out of imposter syndrome, stop comparing yourself with others, and build stories that help you take on big challenges. I also share my race mindset going into the Ironman World Championship in Nice. Episode #24: Fear Chatter

Fear loves friends! When we are afraid we want everyone else to be afraid too! When we convince others to share our fear, we feel validated and now have more permission to be even more afraid. It is a double win for the brain. Fear chatter really snowbowls before big races as it tries to suck everyone in to its energy suck. But you do not have to buy into the fear chatters. You cannot control the unknown. Buying into the fear chatter only drains you. The only thing you can control is yourself. Episode #23: Mind drama and the motivational triad

Oh the mind drama! The back and forth in your brain. The what ifs, the should haves, could haves.  Mind drama is here to stay. No matter how amazing your mindset toolbox is, we will have chaos in our thoughts.  And that is a good thing! Mind drama is from the push and pull of our primitive hard wiring and desire to be more. Humans exist today because we seek pleasure, avoid pain, and are efficient with our energy (the motivational triad). We will have that wiring, it is not going anywhere, even though our world has evolved past its need for survival. In fact, much of our society is created to cater to this hard-wiring. We are pushed daily to seek our motivational triad. And we are pulled for more. We are pulled to be more, to show up more, to be more of ourselves at our best.  It is this push and pull that creates the mind drama. If you are an athlete, then you confront this every single day. What happens is we think that if we just didn't do that hard thing. Or back off of our goals by 50% or stop being an athlete.. Then the mind drama will stop. But it doesn't. There is no escape. The push of the motivational triad will not go away neither will be pull to be more. So then, if there is no peace on the couch… Why not go for it?  If there is no escape from the chaos, if there will always be mindset work to do then I would I would much rather be out there fighting for more than on the couch wishing for more.

Episode #22: Is your motivation source external or internal?

Where does your motivation come from? Does it come from people telling you that you can be better (external) or from within (internal). Jennifer explores ways in which only having external sources of motivation on race day or in big life challenges is not enough. To succeed, you have to find your why and build your internal source of motivation. Perfectionism is the Achilles heel of any athlete, hell, any human. We are imperfect by nature, we are human. When we place perfect standards on ourselves, we set ourselves up for failure. Episode #18: It is not your circumstances

What is really holding you back? It is so easy to blame our circumstances, but that is both disempowering and inaccurate. Our thinking is what creates our results, not our circumstances. In this episode, Jennifer explores how she uncovers limiting beliefs and shifts how she sees herself and her possibilities. She also connects this to being an athlete and how to improve your performance by understanding your thinking. There are also big things planned for 2025!
