Episode 46: Expat vs Immigrant: What It’s Like to Be a Refugee In a European Country with Sabrine Ingabire

So many of us are connected because of our immigration stories. Some of us move for fun, while others move for survival. This week’s guest is now an established and published journalist living in Belgium, but as a child, she was a refugee from Rwanda who was separated from her family and made to assimilate in a predominantly white country that never let her forget she was different. Sabrine Ingabire (b. 1995, Rwanda) is a Rwandan-Belgian journalist and writer. She’s currently writing a book for De Correspondent. Previously, she was the editor-in-chief of Lilith Magazine. She also worked as an editor and reporter for NRC and as a columnist for De Morgen, MO* Magazine, and Dipsaus. Her first young adult novel, ‘Le chemin vers le bonheur’, was published in 2016, and her second novel, ‘Lotgenoten’, in 2024 (Uitgeverij Pluim/Dipsaus).In this week’s episode, we’re talking about what it’s like to be a refugee in a European country. Just because you’re in a safer place physically doesn’t mean you don’t still have trauma to work through. On top of that, Europeans are also still racist. It’s different compared to the US and its history, but Europe is not the post-racial utopia some Europeans try to convince themselves it is. Sabrine has had to endure a ton of systemic racism as a citizen and in the workplace as a journalist. Tune in to hear how she rose above it and how she’s healing her trauma as a refugee. Enjoy! Episode 45: How To Stop Being a Pick Me Girl: A Deep Dive Into the Amanda and West Summer House Drama

Being a pick me is synonymous with being self-destructive nowadays. If you’re choosing a man over everything, you are choosing a man over your happiness, your friendships, and even your own well-being in some cases. This kind of behavior is not sustainable, but it’s also extremely hard to change the behaviors that a pick-me thinks will solve all her problems. Which is why we’re going to break down the Amanda and West Summer House Drama to try and get a little more perspective on the matter. This week’s guest is Sarah Tulloch, the founder and lead Podcast Content Manager at CCST (Content Creation with Sarah Tulloch). CCST is a boutique podcast and content production studio dedicated to supporting creative entrepreneurs with done-for-you services and proven growth strategies. Sarah helps her clients grow their reach, promote their services, and attract their ideal clients through eye-catching and consistent content. Sarah is extremely passionate about women’s stories and education. When she's not producing podcasts or creating content, she's writing romantasy novels cafes all over NYC.In this week’s episode, we’re talking about how to stop being a pick me girl by taking a look at the Amanda and West drama going on over at Summer House. Bravo shows are a great way to see where we’re at in society; it’s like holding up a mirror to each generation’s priorities. And right now, there are women like Amanda Batula who will blow up their entire lives to be chosen by a man who can’t even be faithful to her. Twice. Tune in to hear what kind of coaching would help Amanda break out of her destructive habits of being a pick-me and why the patriarchy will never be there to save you. Enjoy! Episode 44: How Ayodele Has the Courage to Revive a Black Classical Art Form with Ayodele Casel

It may not make sense to anyone else, but it just shines this light on the thing you love the most. In that moment, you know, this is what you have to devote your life to, and see where it takes you. This is what happened to Ayodele Casel, and her love of tap has given her everything she’s ever dreamed of and more. Ayodele Casel is an internationally acclaimed tap dancer, choreographer, and writer celebrated for her deeply expressive and narrative-driven works. A Doris Duke Artist and one of the New York Times’s “Biggest Breakout Stars of 2019,” Casel has consistently expanded the language of tap dance to explore identity, culture, and legacy. Born in The Bronx and raised in Puerto Rico, she has created several acclaimed works including Chasing Magic (Bessie Award), While I Have the Floor, Diary of a Tap Dancer, and The Remix, which was named a New York Times Critic’s Pick and appeared on its “Best of Dance 2025” list—an honor nearly all of her major works have received since 2019. Casel served as tap choreographer for Broadway’s Funny Girl, earning a Drama Desk nomination, and co-directed, produced, and story edited Rooted, a PBS ALL ARTS film featuring Sherrilyn Ifill and a dynamic group of artists reflecting on history through performance which received a 2025 NY Emmy Award nomination. She received six nominations at the 42nd Annual Elliot Norton Awards—the most of any artist that year—and won for Outstanding Choreography. In 2021, her image was featured on a U.S. Postal Service Forever Stamp commemorating tap dance. Casel is also a Radcliffe Fellow, United States Artists Fellow, a Herb Alpert Award winner, and co-director of Operation Tap and the DLNY Tap Dance Project. She currently serves on the board of New York City Center. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about how Ayodele has the courage to revive a Black classical art form. Tap was once mainstream; old Hollywood loved the sophistication and storytelling that came with tap dancing. And while it has fallen out of fashion, people like Ayodele have the courage to go against the grain and devote their lives to this celebrated art form. Tune in to hear how Ayodele managed to take the road less traveled and what’s new for the tap scene in NYC (here’s a hint, it might be a very nostalgic revival!) Enjoy! Episode 43: Scamanda, Being Ciara Miller, and How You Can Heal From Betrayal with Sarah Tulloch

Friendship betrayal is often not taken seriously as a relationship betrayal, but it can be just as hurtful. You may not have been romantically involved with your best friend, but she knew you and still chose to hurt you in the worst way possible. It’s so painful it’s almost too difficult to comprehend. Add race to the mix, and we have a toxic cocktail. So this week, we’re using the recent Summer House drama and speaking to a fellow Bravohead to work through these difficult feelings and social constructs. Sarah Tulloch is the founder and the lead Podcast Production Manager at CCST (Content Creation with Sarah Tulloch). When she's not producing podcasts or creating content, she's writing romantasy novels cafes all over NYC.In this week’s episode, we’re talking about Scamanda, Go West, being Ciara Miller, and how you can heal from betrayal. Because at the end of the day, Ciara is going to be just fine. She will thrive and prosper long after this scandal is a distant memory because she is a great friend and a disciplined queen. She doesn’t need a bad friend or a bad ex in her life; she’ll be better off without them. But those initial feelings of betrayal, hurt, and constructs of race still need to be addressed before she can begin the healing process. Tune in to hear Sarah’s hilarious commentary and my coaching advice for both Amanda and Ciara. Enjoy! Episode 41: Codeswitching, Acting in NY and LA, and Popping Off On Pop Culture with Pia Ventus

Don’t you ever just want to pop off? Every once in a while, we’ve just got to let it out. As Black women, we are often underappreciated and overworked. And if we let it get to us, it can lead to burnout or worse. So let’s take some time to blow off some steam and let the pop culture machine do some heavy lifting for us!Pia Ventus is a podcaster, an actress, and a pop culture guru. On her podcast, Pia Pops Off, she deep dives into everything pop culture—past, present, and everything in between! Every Tuesday, Pia picks a hot topic from the world of movies, TV, documentaries, or iconic moments in media and brings on a guest expert to break it all down. From cult classics to current trends, she covers it all, exploring the stories, people, and phenomena that have shaped the entertainment landscape. Whether it’s nostalgia or the latest viral sensation, Pia’s got you covered with fresh perspectives and lively discussions. In this week’s episode, we talked to Pia Ventus about code-switching, acting in NY and LA, and popping off on pop culture. When we have a common interest with the person we’re talking to, like pop culture, we can establish some common ground. Conversations about racism are a bit easier when we can compare our real-life experiences with Michael B. Jordan’s pop culture experiences. It’s messy, but it works! Episode 40: Being The Strange Black Girl, Brave Career Moves, and the Courage to Follow Your Dreams with Nicole Terborg

We are not born with courage; we have to practice it every day. I know many women in my life who live very front-facing lives. They work in media, speak directly to clients, or create art for millions to see. I believe that they are very courageous, but courage was a muscle that they had to work on in order to feel comfortable following their dreams. We can learn how to have courage by listening to the women who came before us and supporting the next generation of women who come after us. Nicole Terborg is an award-winning Dutch journalist, documentary maker, and presenter, known for her compelling storytelling on social issues. She has worked with public broadcasters such as VPRO, HUMAN, and NTR, creating content that highlights overlooked perspectives. Her work includes documentaries on topics such as colorism and inequality. Her acclaimed series Kweekje, mi kwekipikin, which explores informal foster care, her own upbringing, earned her the Prix Europa for Best Audio Documentary and the Vrouw in de Media Award Noord-Holland, and received several other nominations. Terborg holds degrees in Journalism and in Religion and Philosophy of Life, as well as a Master’s in Journalism in the Crossmedia News Environment. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about being the strange Black girl, brave career moves, and the courage to follow your dreams. Pursuing a career in the media as a Black woman in a predominantly white country is tough. We usually don’t have a safety net or a job just waiting for us in a new city. But I have heard so many stories about Black women who followed their dreams anyway. They listened to the strange, ambitious girl inside of them and took a chance. And this week, we’re talking to Nicole Terborg to hear how she gathered her courage and followed her dreams. Enjoy! As a Bravo stan and a Black woman, I am legally obligated to introduce you to my good friend, Kaya Wilson of the Bravo! We’re Black podcast! Kaya and I became fast friends over our love of Bravo and our need to have a more nuanced conversation about race and culture while we watch our trashy TV. Episode 38: First Gen Problems, Daily Nuances, and Being Mixed Race in the Age of the Internet with Sarah Tulloch

We’ve been exploring Black identity from all over Europe to the USA, but being mixed and being the first generation to grow up in America can be another challenge on top of everything else. Being first gen means being asked to bring American culture into your house as a child so that everyone else can learn how to assimilate. While at the same time, being told you need to be more like your immigrant culture behind closed doors. There’s always this underlying message that you’re not enough, and that you need to work harder to assimilate because you’re an outsider. So how do you balance the two? We spoke to a mixed-race, first-gen eldest daughter to find out how. Sarah Tulloch is the founder and the lead Podcast Production Manager at CCST (Content Creation with Sarah Tulloch). CCST is a boutique podcast and content production studio dedicated to supporting creative entrepreneurs with done-for-you services and proven growth strategies. There were so many rules and nuances that she had to learn all on her own, as well as defend herself from people who felt like they could decide who she was for her. But it’s her life, and she took control of it by living it her way. Listen to Sarah’s episode to hear all about how she found her self-confidence within multiple identities. Enjoy! Episode 37: Suddenly Being Black, Sisterhood, and Identity Politics in Europe with Lena Nzume

Being Black in Cameroon and being Black in Germany are two different things. Discrimination is definitely still normalized in European countries, even in Germany and its history. Which is why people are still fighting the good fight and protecting progressive institutions like democracy wherever they go - including my baby sister Lena Nzume. Lena Nzume (born 7 March 1980 in Kumba, Cameroon) is a German sociologist and politician from Alliance 90/The Greens. She has served as a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament since 2022. Prior to entering parliament, she worked as a research associate at the Institute of Education at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg.Nzume, who identifies as a Black German, spent her early childhood in Cameroon before moving to Germany at age 8. Her mother, originally from Oldenburg, worked there for a decade as a social scientist and nurse, including as a development worker in the health sector. Her father, Dr. S. N. Nzume, was also involved in development projects in Kumba. After relocating to Germany, Nzume attended primary school in Westerstede and later graduated from Europaschule Gymnasium Westerstede in 1999. She went on to study sociology, political science, and art and media studies at the University of Konstanz, earning a Magistra Artium (M.A.) degree in 2006.Nzume joined Alliance 90/The Greens in 2014 and has served as an advisory member of the City of Oldenburg’s Integration Committee. She ran for the Oldenburg City Council in the 2021 local elections. In the 2022 Lower Saxony state election, she stood as the direct candidate in the Oldenburg North/West constituency and was also placed 17th on her party’s state list. She entered parliament via the list. In the state parliament, Nzume sits on the Committee on Education and the Committee on Social Affairs, Health, and Equality. She is also a deputy member of the Committee on Science and Culture and the Commission on Migration and Participation. Within the Green parliamentary group, she serves as spokesperson on education policy, with responsibility for areas including labor, diversity and inclusion in schools, teacher training, vocational education, and memorial sites. In this week’s episode, Lena and I discuss how she suddenly became Black, sisterhood, and identity politics in Europe. Growing up in Cameroon and then moving to Germany as a young girl was difficult for my sister. She suddenly became Black overnight, and her German mother had no idea that was going to happen! Nevertheless, she persisted, and now she’s working in the German parliament to make sure that democracy prevails for this generation and the next. Enjoy! Episode 36: Nicolandria, Black Girl Magic, and Changing the Cultural Tides

Keeping an eye on the culture is a great way to assess how we’re doing as a society. We at No Boundaries, the podcast, love to keep an eye on reality TV like Love Island USA, to see what conversations are happening and which stars are moving the needle. Like, for Olandria to have all this support even after her season ended is unheard of to me. She’s an IT girl! And this week, we’re talking to another IT girl to discuss culture and her own experience as a Black woman living in America. Remy is a Native New Yorker of Nigerian descent. She has a passion for activism, pop culture, and cinematography. In her day-to-day, she works in healthcare, connecting patients with community resources. After hours, Remy takes to social platforms, such as TikTok, to engage with a larger digital community in relation to various topics - including reality TV shows, news reports, and her random diary entries. She finds joy in “yapping” with others about whatever thought comes to mind. This week, we’re talking about Nicolandria updates, Black Girl Magic, and changing the cultural tides. I want to say that things have gotten better from generation to generation. My daughter's generation has more positive representation than I did, more access to education, and more role models to look up to. Olandria's experience on Love Island has changed the cultural tides of what Black women should expect from their loved ones, and we are so excited to see her continue to thrive. Episode 35: Growing Up Mixed Race in Amsterdam, Black Hair, and Raising Mixed Kids with Carmen Bansia

I am now an expat living in the US, but for many years, I was one of the only mixed-race Black girls I knew. My friend Carmen has a similar experience. We grew up together in Amsterdam, and I can say that I had a better life because of her friendship. Today, we’re going to dive deeper into her experience and what she’s had to learn about herself all on her own.Carmen Bansia is an old friend of mine from Amsterdam. She is also mixed race, and so we connected on a lot of our shared experiences. She is an accomplished Leadership coach, a (DISC) trainer, and a consultant. She lives with her loving husband and son.In this week’s episode, we’re talking to Carmen about growing up mixed race in Amsterdam, having 4C Black hair, and raising mixed kids all over the world. Being mixed means you are constantly learning something new about yourself. You’re learning about your own hair because your family doesn’t know how to do it, or you’re learning about how other people see you because your family has a blind spot. You learn, and you continue to learn, and eventually, you learn how to create a great life. Tune in to hear the lessons Carmen had to learn and how she’s passing them down to her children. Enjoy! Episode 33: How We’re Dealing with These Very Challenging Times

If you’re feeling stuck, broken down, or hopeless because of everything going on in the news, you’re not alone. This is overwhelming, and since the point of all this is to overwhelm us so much that we don’t do anything about it, it makes sense that we would feel this way. But that doesn’t mean we have to stay down. Joy is an act of resistance, and while there’s so much harm going on in the world, your joy is how you will fight back. You need joy to resist at all, you need joy to get up in the morning and keep going, and you can’t let them take that from you. At least not forever. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about how we’re dealing with these challenging times. We can acknowledge that this is very overwhelming, while also acknowledging that we cannot lose ourselves. We will get out of this; we just have to keep moving forward until then. Enjoy! Episode 31: Internet Trends We’re Keeping and What We’re Leaving Behind in 2026

We are cleaning out the Internet trends of last year and making room for new ones! As well as keeping our faves (like Nicolandria 💞). Because honestly, 2025 was A LOT, so it is very necessary that we take out the trash. And let us know - what trends are you keeping or leaving in 2026? We may not agree on everything, but we listen, and we don’t judge. We’re keeping that trend, too. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about the internet trends we’re keeping and what we’re leaving behind in 2026. We went over fashion trends we loved and hated, stanning and who we’re stanning, and what we can’t seem to agree on. Like those dang Ugg ballet flats.Enjoy! Episode 30: Gender as a Construct and Why We Don't Care (Do What You Want)

Gender is a made-up construct that depends on where you were born in the world and who colonized whom. The strict idea of gender roles in the West has confined us to believing that there are only two genders. But in reality, there are biologically so many more than that! This is what we mean by gender doesn’t matter to us. Because it literally doesn’t. The Western way of thinking got it wrong anyway, and we really don’t care what gender anyone else wants to be. Do what you want! What we really think is weird is when people get infuriated over someone else’s gender expression. Like, who are you?? In this week’s episode, we’re talking about gender as a construct and why we don't care. Literally do what you want! But we’re not naive, we know that there are so many people out there, and much of society as a whole, that do care about how people express their genders and if they’re doing it “the right way.” So if you want to get a second opinion and see how the human idea of gender is incorrectly forced into two boxes, then tune in to this week’s episode to hear more! Enjoy! Episode 29: First Reactions to 50 Cent’s Diddy Documentary

The Diddy documentary that 50 Cent recently executive-produced has taken over the internet. Ever since Cassie Ventura came forward with her accusations against her long-time boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs, the world has looked at Diddy with new eyes. Though for many who were close to Diddy, they knew the kind of man he was for a long time. They just never thought he would get caught. Now that Cassie has come forward, over +100 civil cases have been filed against Diddy and his company, Bad Boy Records. That, paired with the fact that Diddy refused to pay the people closest to him (including his own personal documentary production crew), created the perfect storm for this documentary to be made. It was suddenly safe, or safer than it used to be, for people to come out of the woodwork and finally talk about what Diddy put them through. In this week’s episode, we’re sharing our first reactions to 50 Cent’s documentary about long-time enemy Sean “Diddy” Combs. The documentary was shocking, but not surprising. It was very easy to see how a man with unilateral power and access to violent figures would enact that violence on anyone who questioned his actions. But there is some hope that can come from this, regardless of how the rest of Diddy’s lawsuits go. People can now speak out about the violence that they were subjected to, we as a community are discussing the nuances that need to be understood if we are going to protect victims of SA, and we now know the tactics that Diddy used to trap people in the first place. Tune in to hear our first reactions and how we can protect ourselves from future Diddy copycats. Enjoy! Episode 28: How to Talk To Your Kids About Sex So That They Actually Listen To You

Since we believe in free parenting, we also believe that we should educate our kids about sex. We talk about the logistics, the dangerous parts and the pleasurable parts, and what people can do to protect themselves. We also leave the door open for our kids to ask us questions or come to us if they feel they need someone to talk to. But not everyone was raised that way, and not everyone believes that the way we talk to each other is right. At the end of the day, we believe that we should educate our kids in a safe environment. Teens are going to learn about sex no matter what, so you might as well be the ones to talk to them about it, even if it’s a bit awkward. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about how to talk to your kids about sex so that they actually listen to you. We can’t deny that it's an awkward conversation, but it's better to feel a little awkward for a little while and be your kid’s safe space, than for them to learn all the wrong things from their classmates. If you want to be that safe space for your kids and you don’t know where you start, this is the episode for you! Enjoy! Episode 27: Generalized Anxiety Disorder and How It Affects Our Relationships

Millions of people have generalized anxiety disorder and live with it every single day. Some people take medication, like Lulu does, to help with the symptoms. But medication doesn’t solve all of her problems. She still spirals and gets caught in thought loops that can completely take over her mind. And for someone who doesn’t have GAD, her line of thinking may not make any sense in the moment. It takes patience and understanding to get to the root of the issue, which can be time-consuming and require tough love.GAD not only affects the person, but it also affects their relationships. Romantic, familial, and platonic relationships are all affected because the person with GAD can sometimes obsess over whether or not they’ve hurt their loved ones' feelings. Within this thought loop, communication can break down, and without context, each party can walk away feeling like they’re not being heard. So how do we fix this? In this week’s episode, we’re opening up about generalized anxiety disorder and how it affects our relationships. Your mental health matters, and so does the mental health of the people you care about. We know that you mean well, but this disorder can sometimes make it difficult to communicate with the people we love. That’s why we’re opening up and sharing some tips we’ve learned to help break the thought loops, calm our worries, and communicate clearly in our relationships. Tune in to hear how Lulu lives her best life while living with GAD and how Anousha strengthens her relationship with her daughter despite not really experiencing anxiety.  Enjoy! Episode 26: Reviewing I Love LA and The Benefits of Social Media for All Ages

If you’re looking for a new show to watch that has actually accurate Gen Z representation, queer storylines, and a director who actually knows how to show off the real-life beauty of LA, then you’ll love the new hit series I Love LA. It has absolutely everything we wanted in a show, and it’s already made us superfans. Some people will argue that representation isn’t important, that it just panders to the wrong people and annoys the heck out of everyone else. But that can’t be further from the truth. Not only did the promise of representation attract us to the show, but it also brought us closer together to our loved ones, both IRL and online! In this week’s episode, we’re diving into our newest obsession, I Love LA. The new HBO show is about women, friendships, romance, and making it as an influencer manager in one of the most influential cities in the world. We also talked about how much social media has connected us to the world, and why it’s not just for young people. Everyone should be on social media! Episode 25: How to Not Be a Toxic Man with Our Friend Quinn

Not all men are toxic; some are actually pretty great. No, they weren’t born that way, and they didn’t fall out of the sky like beautiful angel babies. They’re real, grown men who undid the misogynistic script they were taught to stick to and decided to live in peace with the other genders rather than live against them. Our friend Quinn didn’t learn how to undo the patriarchy by taking a super secret class or by being inherently better than everyone else. It’s not that simple. What he did do was find productive outlets for his anger and decide what he would tolerate and what he wouldn’t. So if you’re worried that your loved ones are getting more and more toxic, this episode may help. In this week's episode, we’re talking to our friend Quinn, the nicest guy we know. He’s kind and empathetic, and he doesn’t take anything too personally. He’s the least toxic person we know, so we had him on the show to ask how he became the man he is today and what other men can do to break free from toxic masculinity. Enjoy! Episode 24: Huda, Microaggressions, and The Consequences of our Actions

Recently, Huda and Louis were on live, taking random fans’ calls, and one fan called Olandria a racial slur on speaker phone so the live and everyone watching could hear it. The two laughed in the moment and didn’t say anything to distance themselves from the slur or its implications until after the clip went viral. And even then, there were non-apologies everywhere. Now Huda has lost two major brand deals and may never work as an influencer again. So why is this so important? Huda has been making it clear where she stands when it comes to Black people through her actions. She’ll date and over sexualize Black men (to the point of coercion!) and allow her fans to ridicule the same Black women she once called her very best friends that she’ll love forever. Now that she’s been associated with a slur, she wants to call for nuance. But the writing has been on the wall for a long time. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about Huda, microaggressions, and the consequences of our actions. In our opinion, Huda didn’t do anything to separate herself from her fans' actions or take accountability for allowing something so reckless to happen. She laughed it off and got angry when people ask why she didn’t condemn the racist act or the fan in the moment. And with the media trying to spin Olandria as another angry black woman caricature and Huda’s fans saying that it’s not fair because she didn’t say the word, we wanted to speak on why exactly this situation is so damning. Tune in to hear our thoughts on Huda's actions and what you can do to make sure you don’t end up making the same wrong choices that she did. Enjoy! Episode 23: Breaking Toxic Relationship Patterns and How to Talk to Your Girlfriends About It

We all have friends who have toxic dating patterns. They go back to the terrible boyfriend or find a different version of him at every club you go to together. Or maybe they’re the problem (no shade) and they’re being toxic and can’t see it. Either way, it has to get addressed one way or another. This episode is not to victim blame anyone, so let’s get that out of the way. At the same time, recognizing toxic relationship patterns and breaking them is how we heal. And we feel like we have a right to speak on it, since we’re both working on breaking our own toxic relationship patterns. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about breaking toxic relationship patterns and how to talk to your girlfriends about it. Because if we let this go on, it could go on forever. And we mean forever! Some of our friends are in their 50s, dealing with the same kind of man over and over again. Tune in to hear how we identified our own toxic relationship patterns and how we talked to our girlfriends about it. Enjoy! Episode 22: Featurism, Girlhood, and Colorism with Tanisha F. Everett

There should be no reason that an attractive young woman like Olandria should feel like a handsome young white man like Nic wouldn’t be attracted to her. But growing up in the American South and dealing with issues like featurism and colorism can take a toll on your worldview. Since we didn’t know too much about the subject, we called in our friend Tanisha Feverett to help us explore and understand the impact of featurism in the US. Tanisha F. Everett is a visual storyteller and a ceremonialist on a mission to restore feminine wisdom through storytelling while helping women activate the goddess within. She's the high priestess at the Mysterium Academy, where she teaches ancient spiritual modalities. Tanisha is also a cultural commentator, a friend to many, and definitely a friend to both of us. Tanisha is the author and photographer behind the book, Feminine: Honoring the Magic of Women from Around the World through Photography. In this week’s episode, Tanisha shares her own experiences as a young Black girl with featurism and how its history is still impacting young women today. Since we grew up in the Netherlands, we didn’t grow up with overt signs of featurism, like the paper bag test. But by understanding this history, we can better understand our sisters here in the US and beyond. Enjoy! Episode 21: Homosocial Relationships, Men Who Hate Women, and Fighting Against Sexist Biases

Disclaimer! This is not a dig at male relationships or friendships! Male friendships and relationships are beautiful when they’re healthy and come with open communication. But when you’re whole life revolves around pleasing your friends and begging for their approval, that’s when we have to talk about it. We’ve talked about homosocial relationships before. In our Love Island episode, we talked about how Taylor and Ace on Love Island USA had a homosocial relationship. Taylor didn’t really like Olandria, but she liked him, so he coupled up with her and didn’t really treat her right. So when Olandria starts exploring a relationship with someone who really and truly likes her, Ace convinces Taylor to fight for Olandria even though Taylor knows he truly doesn’t like her like that. Taylor cared more about what Ace thought about his relationships than anything else, and not only did it hurt his own image on the show, but he also hurt Olandria so deeply that she questioned her own self-worth.In reality, Taylor’s actions had nothing to do with Olandria and everything to do with Taylor’s feelings towards Ace (and Nic, but you guys aren’t ready for that). In this week’s episode, we’re talking about how homosocial relationships can go too far and hurt not only the people you date but yourself and the community you’re in, too. Intense homosocial relationships among men can be so incredibly detrimental. They can foster sexist ideas and eventually create a culture around hating women because of how deeply ingrained misogyny is in our society. This creates men who hate and attack women, men who hate all forms of femininity, and men who ruin their own lives because they act like clowns entertaining their male friends. By identifying negative homosocial relationships in reality TV, we can see how prevalent it is in our own lives and put a stop to it before it get worse. Enjoy! Episode 20: An Interview with the Nicolandriacore Girls, Mixed Race Relationships, and Leaning Into Creative Careers

The Nicolandriacore account has revolutionized the way we watch Love Island USA. They were there for us during the good, the bad, and the ugly. They were hosting events before Nic and Olandria were together, and they blew up when they finally got together. They were the first to post updates and sometimes got exclusive content from Nic and Olandria themselves. And now, as our very first guests, name and name are here to tell us what it’s like to run a super stan account. Kenyëva is a writer and creative director with a focus on blending storytelling and aesthetics. In February 2025, she launched The Vision Bureau, a creative direction company. She also manages her best friend Ugona and has a blog called Keeping Up With Kenyeva, where she shares her personal experiences. At her core, Kenyeva is dedicated to creating digital content that connects people, fosters community, and brings ideas to life.Ugona is an emerging Afrofusion artist making waves with a unique sound that bridges the vibrant cultures of Maryland and Nigeria. Born in Maryland with deep Enugu roots, Ugona blends influences from Afrobeats, R&B, alternative music, and indie sounds to create a musical style that is both melodic and rhythmic. Her artistry is a reflection of her personal journey—bold, authentic, and deeply connected to her Igbo heritage. In this week’s episode, we’re interviewing the incredible young ladies behind the Nicolandriacore account, mixed race relationships, and how they're leaning into their creative careers. Love Island and our mutual love for Nic and Olandria's love story have brought an entire community together. Episode 19: Mother Daughter Bonds, Safety First, and Having Uncomfortable Conversations with Your Kids

Puberty happens to everyone, whether we like it or not. And it can be such a confusing time for everyone involved. The child is going through such an extreme change, and the parents are overwhelmed with how to handle this. It can all be too much if you don’t know what you should be doing. That’s why we want to share how our family handled puberty, so maybe it can help you handle puberty at your house. Because we think we turned out pretty ok! Our bond as a mother and daughter is unbreakable, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t tested. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about mother-daughter bonds, putting your kids' safety first, and having uncomfortable conversations with your kids. And trust us, it’s definitely an uncomfortable time. But with a little guidance and a lot of trust, you’ll get through it with an even stronger bond. Enjoy! Episode 18: Evil Light-Skinned Men, Love Island Games, and Scamming For Money

The evil light-skins, Toby, Jonny, and Tyrique, are back, and this time, they’re worse! All three of them are in the same season of the same show, and, of course, they are wreaking havoc on all of the contestants. As usual, the women are feeling the brunt of their insanity, so naturally, we have to talk about it. We haven’t forgotten about everything you’ve done, Toby, Jonny, and Tyrique. Between the gaslighting, lying, and manipulating, this is gearing up to be the most interesting season of Love Island games yet. But you play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. Just because these men cause the most drama doesn’t mean they’re the most liked contestants. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about Love Island Games and all the drama going on in the villa this season. We’re also catching you up on everything these three evil light-skinned men did so that you’re in the know when they start their usual antics again. Episode 17: Nicolandria, Race, and Public Romantic Relationships

There is a huge Love Island debate going on right now, and we have to say, we think we’re on the winning team. Fans are going back and forth trying to decide if Nic and Olandria are a real couple, and we say they are! Look into their eyes, people, it has to be love. And, let’s play devil's advocate, even if they aren’t in love per se, who cares? Why do they have to be ”faking it” or “lying to the public?” There was a very real set of circumstances keeping them apart in the beginning. They were dating other people, they’re different races, and they come from different cultures. But in the end, they gave each other a chance, and isn’t that what Love Island is all about? In this week’s episode, we’re talking about Nicolandria, race, and public romantic relationships. The crowd was going crazy when Nic and Olandria first got together in the villa. Now that they’re home and thriving, some people still have something negative to say about our favorite couple. So, of course, we have to give our two cents and defend Nicolandria.  Enjoy! Episode 16: First Reactions and Toxic Relationships in The Ultimatum: Queer Love S2

The Ultimatum: Queer Love is one of our favorite queer shows on TV right now. While the contestants can be messy and a little bit toxic, the show does give an accurate representation of WLW relationships. Sometimes when you don’t see yourself in the media, it can be easy to lose sight of what’s realistic in a relationship. It’s important to remind ourselves which fights are worth having and when you know when enough is enough. Queer relationships are not magically perfectly healthy, or out right doomed, just because they’re queer. Relationships take work and this show helps queer folks not only bond over an amazing reality tv show, but it helps us feel a little bit more normal in our everyday lives. In this week’s episode, we’re going to be talking about our first reactions to the couples and calling out the toxic relationships on the show. As we were watching, we saw a pattern pop up. So many people were either replicating their initial toxic relationships or breaking free from their toxic patterns. Each episode opened the contestants' eyes to themselves, and whether they choose to get better or get worse is up to them. Tune in to hear our thoughts and more in this week’s episode. Enjoy! Episode 15: Love Island US, Hurricane Huda, and Watching a BPD Crashout on Reality TV

Huda’s time on Love Island USA has brought to light some behaviors that make up what we now know as BPD. From the cursing, the tantrums, and the 0-100 behavior, Huda is exhibiting many of the signs that she may be living with Borderline Personality Disorder. And while BPD diagnoses have only recently entered the mainstream, many people have been living with BPD for a long time, sometimes their entire lives. We would know, Anousha’s mother has been living with BPD for as long as she can remember. Which is why it’s so important to shed light on this disorder while Huda is at the top of everyone’s mind. This disorder affects behaviors and thought processes differently than a neurotypical person (someone without a mental health disorder or illness) does. Huda believes that her cursing, tantrums, and twisting of the truth are completely justified. And while we are not therapists, and we have no authority on how to diagnose her, we’d like to take this opportunity to shed light on these behaviors, why she’s acting like this, and how you can talk to someone in your life who acts like Huda does. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about all things Love Island USA, Hurricane Huda, and what it’s been like to watch multiple BPD crashouts on a reality TV show. Huda can get on our nerves. She lashes out at the people she loves and cries over every little thing. But there is a reason she acts the way she does. And if you, or someone you know, acts like Huda, you’re going to want to know about the why so you can have better relationships with your loved ones. Enjoy! Episode 14: Why Pride Matters and Real Ways Straight Allies Can Show Up All Year Long

It’s so important to know our LGBTQIA+ history - now more than ever. If you’re going to celebrate and party all night, then you need to know why you can go out and party all night. People fought and died for your right to be out and free. Pillars of the community like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera need to be remembered because when we know where we came from, we know why we can’t go back. Obviously, there’s still a lot to be done. Politicians and corporations are lobbying to remove our rights and push us back into the closet. But we can still fight back, in more ways than one. Educating yourself and having pride in your community is the first step to taking radical action. In this week’s episode, we talk about the history of pride and real ways straight allies can show up all year round. Wearing an “ally” t-shirt at a pride parade isn’t enough. Standing up for your loved ones and treating us like people. Because, believe it or not, being queer was way more common before colonization. Tune into this week’s episode to hear more about queer history, how we can engage with it in a meaningful way, and how you can support your LGBTQIA+ friends all year. Enjoy! Episode 13: How Social Media Is Reshaping Parenting, Families, and Youth Culture

Social media has turned our current social culture on its head. People can have parasocial relationships with absolute strangers, teens are finding it harder and harder to socialize in real life, and parents have no idea how to regulate any of it. And should parents even be regulating social media use? It's a common question that no one seems to have the answer to. There might not be any broad strokes, right-for-everyone answer to any of this. The truth is, we just don’t have definitive answers on anything yet because of how new social media is culturally. The best we can do is learn from our real-life experiences and a few scandalous books, along the way. In this week’s episode, we talk about how social media has been impacting our lives, for better or for worse. All these apps and constant connection are reshaping how we parent, how we interact as a family, and how our youths are creating culture. Our experiences are our own, and they may be a little niche, so don’t forget to let us know how social media is impacting your family in the comments below! Enjoy! Episode 12: Dealing with Internalized Misogyny in Female Relationships

Internalized misogyny will inevitably eventually creep into female friendships, especially as we start to get older and start caring more about the opposite sex. It's just how the system works. But does it have to ruin every single friendship we care about? Not necessarily. Female friendships are so beautiful and so fulfilling. The best part of our days is oftentimes the hours we spend hanging out with our friends and talking about absolutely everything. And at some point, we have to put our foot down and protect these friendships from the misogynistic systems around us. And to do that, we need to identify what exactly is internalized misogyny and why it hurts so much. In this week’s episode, we talk about our experiences with internalized misogyny, why it’s different in the US compared to in the Netherlands, and how to protect our friendships when guys get in the way. This system was made to keep us apart, which is exactly why thriving female friendships are a radical act. Rebel with us and let us know how you responded to internalized misogyny in the comments below!   Enjoy! Episode 11: Coercive Control, Cassie’s Testimony, and Breaking Away from Abusive Relationships

If you’ve been listening to our podcast from the beginning, then you know that our co-host Lulu has been in an abusive relationship before. It was devastating and incredibly confusing to go through at the time. Now that it’s been a few years, Lulu is ready to talk about just how abusive this relationship was and how she finally ended it once and for all. And this topic isn’t just about straight romantic relationships! This kind of abuse happens everywhere - in gay relationships, between friends, and even between family members. Abusers are behaving this way because they want control. It’s not your fault it happened, but it is your responsibility to get out of it. And this week, we’re going to talk about how you can do just that. In this week’s episode, we’ll be talking about coercive control, Cassie’s testimony, and how Lulu broke free from abusive relationships. Abusers want to confuse you, isolate you, and make them the most important person in their world. But they’ll do it so sneakily that most of the time you won’t see it coming. We’re hoping that by sharing our story, you’ll be able to catch the red flags early and get out before it’s too late.Enjoy! Episode 10: Female Sexuality, Hook Up Culture, and the Future of Dating

Hook-up culture can be a way to explore your sexuality in a fun, no-strings-attached way. Both of our hosts have had (safe and healthy) hook-ups, make-out sessions, and one-night stands. It’s a part of growing up, and it helped us become the women we are today.Female sexuality is not often talked about. Mainstream media tells us to keep our legs closed and our virginity to ourselves until we get married. Otherwise, we’re labeled as sluts, bops, or messy. Then again, those who don’t ever hook up are labeled stuck-up, prudes, and childish—so there’s no winning either way.So instead of following rules that set us up to fail, let’s embrace our sexualities in a fun and safe way! We deserve the same chance to explore our sexuality as men do! And we should be able to do it safely and without stigma. In this week’s episode, we’ll be talking about hook-up culture both here in the U.S. and in the Netherlands. We are two different women with two different sexualities, which means our journeys looked so different in some ways, but also similar in others. And that’s okay! We’re here to break the social stigma and actually talk about our experiences without any judgment for once.Enjoy! Episode 9: The Effects of Disordered Eating on a Family and the Road to Lifelong Healing

Disordered eating is such a nuanced topic, especially when your family can see how it’s affecting you and when you can see how it’s affecting them. On top of that, there’s society’s idea of what is healthy and beautiful, and usually, it means being as thin as possible. So while you know your behaviors are hurting you, someone may think you’re doing what’s right for you. We’ve had friends and family members encourage dieting and disordered eating, thinking they were doing the right thing when they’re really causing more harm than good. This is why we encourage you to seek help and start the healing process. It's up to you to take the first step. We are not medical professionals, so take what we say with a grain of salt. But we hope that by sharing our experiences, we can help at least one person who’s watching take the first step to healing. Whether that be by reading the books we recommended, booking an appointment with a doctor, or just feeling safe in this moment with us. In this week’s episode, your hosts Anousha and Lulu are discussing how an eating disorder affects their family and how they’ve started to heal. It has been a rough battle for everyone involved, but with in-depth research and unrelenting tenacity, your favorite podcast family is starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Tune in for resources, real-life experiences, and more on the No Boundaries podcast. Enjoy! Episode 8: Living with Disordered Eating and How to Get the Help You Need

Dieting, binging, and purging are all signs that what our host, Anousha, was experiencing was an eating disorder. But that didn’t matter at the time. What mattered was that she was a size 6, and everyone else her age was a size 0. Growing up, people were always commenting on her weight, pressuring her to lose a few pounds, and even poking at her body when she was a young girl. It wasn’t until Anousha was a grown woman that she realized she couldn’t do this anymore and needed to heal her relationship with food. Disclaimer: We are not medical professionals, so don’t take what we say as medical advice. If you want to seek treatment for possible disordered eating, please reach out to a reputable medical professional. We will, however, talk about our own experiences with disordered eating and what Anousha did to start the healing process. This week, we’re talking about the differences between disordered eating and an eating disorder, how they both affected Anousha growing up, and how the same pressure that Anousha felt to be thinner is still prevalent in today's society. We hope that by sharing this story, we can help anyone who’s going through the same thing seek help. You can heal your relationship with food, if it’s possible for us, then it is possible for you too <3 Enjoy! Episode 7: Dealing With Strict Parents and How to Break the Toxic Cycle

Hot Take: Ultra strict parenting styles do not work. So why do some parents still swear by them? They think that by isolating their kids and imposing restrictive rules on their teens that they’re protecting them. But it turns out that these parents are doing more harm than good. Take this week’s guest is Nayelli. Nayelli has been friends with our co-host Lulu  since they were sixteen. Lulu saw how restrictive Nayelli’s parents were and tried to help her feel like a normal teenager. They’d go out and get food, go to parties, and occasionally drink for a bit of fun. And that helped for a while, but it wasn’t until Nayelli had one too many blow ups with her mom that she decided she needed to break this toxic cycle. In this week’s episode, Nayelli shares why she felt like she had to leave her home and how that affected her relationship with her family. When the screaming, the insults, and the restrictive behavior were too much to bear, Nayelli started making plans to move out. To some, that sounds like a normal reaction to how she was being treated. But in a strict family home, that’s the most insulting thing you can do. Tune into this week’s episode to hear how Nayelli moved out and what happened after the dust settled. Enjoy! Episode 6: Growing Up With Strict Parents and How It Affects the Kids

Parenting styles are tricky. Some people do free parenting, like our family, and give their children a bit more freedom at a younger age. Some parents are more strict and want to have a bit more control over their kids in order to keep them safe. Each parenting style comes with its own benefits and consequences, and since we don’t know much about the stricter parenting style, we’re going to talk to someone who’s lived it. This week’s guest is Nayelli, a wonderful young lady who’s been friends with Lulu since they were sixteen. Growing up, Lulu and Nayelli observed each other's families’ parenting styles from afar. Lulu got to see what a stricter household was like, and Nayelli got to see what a freer household was like. And while Nayelli could understand why her parents were so protective of her, she knew she couldn’t live like that forever. In this week’s episode, Nayelli shares what it was like growing up with very strict parents and how that affected her as she grew up. To be clear, when we say strict, we don’t mean getting good grades and a 10 pm curfew. We mean she couldn’t go out two weekends in a row, had to help pay for the household expenses, and wasn’t allowed to date until she was in her 20s. That kind of life can leave a lasting impression on a person, and it definitely has on Nayelli.Enjoy! Episode 5: Adolescence, the Rise of the Incel Community, and What You Can Do to Protect Your Kids

Adolescence sheds light on how violent communities can indoctrinate young boys through social media. The main character, Jamie, is only thirteen, but he is accused of murdering a female classmate over bullying he faced on social media. But as the show goes on, we start to see Will verbalize dangerous dog whistles that prove that he may have started to deeply resent women and want to punish them in a violent way. Incel communities are typically made up of men who claim that they are “involuntarily celibate” and meet online to discuss their growing hatred of women. This hatred escalates to planned acts of violence that affect the women around them and shake their local communities to their core.  In this week’s episode, we dive deeper into each episode of Adolescence and explain the real-world implications of each character's actions. We also discuss what we can do to stop the spread of these ideologies. No one wants to lose their sons and brothers to a violent misogynistic group, and that’s exactly why we have to talk about it before it’s too late. Enjoy! Episode 4: Coming out, Exploring Sexuality, And a Beautiful Thing Called Love

Love is love. No matter what. In this week’s episode, we’re talking all about coming out, exploring our sexuality, and embracing a beautiful thing called love. Lulu shares her personal experience with being outed — a moment that should have been her choice, not someone else's. But as you know, if you’ve been listening to the first few episodes of the podcast, this person is horrible. While being outed without warning was frustrating, she was lucky to have a loving family who supported her no matter who she loved. We also talk about what it means to be an ally, especially when it comes to supporting your children. In the episode, we reflect on how our parents raised us and our siblings to be accepting of everyone, and why that foundation made it easier for us to support our queer family memebers when they shared their truth. We also talk about common fears and misconceptions parents may have when their child comes out — like the idea that something went "wrong" — and why love and acceptance are key. After all, if you believe in God, then you know that God doesn’t make mistakes. So why question it? We hope this episode offers some comfort, support, and maybe even a little guidance, whether you’re navigating your own journey or showing up for someone you love.Enjoy! Episode 3: Parenting and Giving Your Kids the Freedom to Grow

There’s no handbook to raising the most perfect, well-adjusted child. And one end of the parenting spectrum is always better than the other. We’ve seen children of strict parents push their own limits just because they wanted to experiment with what their parents hid from them. We’ve also seen children of more lenient parents experiment with potentially dangerous substances knowing that they could lean on their parents if things went too far. On the one hand, you want to keep your kids safe. On the other hand, you want to give your children the chance to live their lives. Parenting is a balancing act, and it’s such a complex and nuanced topic, that we wanted to share our experiences about it with you on the podcast. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about how we were parented and how that helped guide us into adulthood. There are so many things that affect how we were raised - race, generations, and even what country we were in. And despite everything, we think we turned out all right! Even if our parents didn’t always get it right the first time around, we still grew up to be very capable, mostly well-adjusted young women. Tune in to hear more about our parenting experiences and our opinions on the matter. Reminder: We’re not telling you what to do, but maybe hear us out.TW: This episode has some mentions of illicit substances and assault. Enjoy! Episode 2: Toxic Relationships and How to Break the Cycle

What do you do when you find yourself stuck in a toxic relationship, and how can you get yourself out before it’s too late? In the moment, it can feel like you're stuck, especially if the toxic partner doesn’t want to break up. But there is a way out. First you have to identify what a toxic relationship is. Next, you have to figure out what can and cannot be tolerated in a relationship. If you can work it out with your partner, then great! Some things are forgivable and a healthy conversation can do a lot to mend what was broken. If not, you have to walk away. Even if that means letting your mom break up with him while you go on tour (more on that later lol).In this week’s episode, we’re diving into toxic relationships. Your favorite mother-daughter duo are talking all about what makes a relationship toxic, our experiences with toxic relationships, and how we got out of them in the end.
