S3EP023 - Do the web's "Top 10 Fitness Tips" actually hold water??
It's no secret that we love giving training tips. In fact, that's almost the whole point. So why did it take so long to occur to Josh to check what the internet says the top training tips are in a simple search? Let me tell ya...the results are not pretty. On this episode, Josh and Jordan look back at season 3's most important training tip episodes, and then rate heatlh.com's "Ten Must Know Fitness Tips: All Backed by Science" (and fact checked, lol). Also on this episode:-Bunkers? Enclaves? Compounds? -Whose breakfast is more relatable? Tom Brady's or Peyton Manning's? -Price per workout? Maybe Josh should investigate for KBs at home vs a gym. Josh and Jordan are your fit friends. And hanging out with fitter friends leads to a fitter you. On this episode of the TIC podcast, we break down what umpires, lifestyle choices, and knee pain all have in common? Well in this case it's just BAD. Does sport really need umpires? Does it need video replay? Do most people with knee pain need complicated rehab? What excuses are hiding behind the perceived need to just "work harder". What can a garden teach us about recovery? S2EP050 - Recovery ISN'T Optional: do these 5 things to make real progress.
People like control. So when it's time to make a change, they naturally gravitate towards trying to workout (usually too hard, too fast) because it feels like you're "doing something about it". Unfortunately: your progress cannot exceed your body's ability to recover. This is where you have to set up your system for success to make progress the way it was designed. All you can do is set the table and trust that your body responds. No recovery, no progress. That doesn't mean that you can't coax additional performance out, even in stressful environments. In fact sometimes that's an essential part of life, if not growth as well. But you can't stay there forever. The coaches talk: how to recover in 3 different phases:BasicsAdvance-icsMedics. In other words: ONE: how to get healthy and stay healthy.TWO: what to do if the road gets bumpy.THREE: what to do if you get benched with a serious injury.
